Ah 1988 how I wish I was back there again instead of this 2021 hellhole even if I was just 10 at the time etc. I really do enjoy these 80's segments, it's like another world or a parallel dimension here. It's SO surreal here people having fun, being free and life was neat. Unfortunately in those aspects of time would turn the wheels to the cesspit of the 21st era we live in now, lucky.....
Couldn't agree more but there were still hangovers in 1988! 😎🤣
These are always false memories. Was no more fun then than now. It was more racist, more sexist, we had the IRA bombing London (did a few pubs near us) don't get me wrong, was fun but not as great as everyone makes out. Like ever era. Take World War 2 for example. So many people say "Those were tha days" well no, the world was at war and as an old boy once said "What a load of bollocks. There were people out robbing back then just like now. Worst still, they'd do it during blackouts."
The best part of our current times, is easy access to information and education. People can learn so much more now than then. I now deal with computers, the access to information is so helpful. Back in the 80s, as a kid, I attempted to get into them but the local library only had out of date books for the old computers that no one was using anymore.
@@TheStevenWhiting There have been bombings within the last decade and stabbings. etc
Not false memories at all is it!
+ no more fun than it is now, that is utter nonense!!
sounds like you live in Melbourne too Matthew
Tell me about it. I grew up in St. Thomas Virgin Islands. When other kids had hobbies like stamp and collecting, I was into Cruise ships. I would sit there for hours at a time staring at the Mardi Gras, Carnivale, Angelina Lauro. It was a much better time. The only good thing about these days is that we can now look back on those times through video.
The world was a nice place once
It will be again but not in our lifetime.
@@EgoShredder Facts 💯
So where the cruise ships. Now they are condos with a hull.
@@EgoShredder depends where you go...
This was the cruise I was on in 1988 honeymoon. Marriage didn't last but cruising certainly did.
1988 😢now 2024
I've watched a lot of Wish You Were Here on this fine channel. You have to hand it to Thames that they called a spade a spade when it deserved it. Well done Annie following in the footsteps of Chris Kelly.

I was a cruise ship tour dispatcher in 1989 in St Thomas. It was a fabulous time!
Was Cpt Benji around back then?
@@jasonarcher7268 Did he do day charters out of Red Hook?
@@vap0rland that sounds like him. Was still living in that area the last time I worked there, almost 10 years ago. He was our agent when we worked on the cruise ships down there, doing dive work.
Yes, I took a few cruises on the Jubilee in the 1980. This brough back many memories.
In the 80s people experienced the world through travel and events. Today they experience it through screens on phones. Not all the fault of the people themselves. With growing corruption, people are economically forced to experience on their phones as only the elites seem to be able to afford these experiences.
Yes! I've been cruising and traveling the world since the 90s. It was a much different and easier time to do all of it, both financially and regarding regulations. The cost of travel has become horrendous compared to the income level, not to mention all of the new regulations regarding entry and exit requirements for places that used to simply require showing a passport.
Life was good then. Those days are over
Respect. Thankyou. Always
The host is amazing. I wonder where she is now.
To each their own, but I've never wanted to go on a cruise ship, although when I see ads for the European river cruises I think that could be cool. Cheers!
Was on the the jubilee in 1987 and again in 2002
Now, especially since the “Loveboat” everybody goes on cruises, and it’s a lot more expensive.
Im going on the new jubliee on nov and i wanted to see the original ship it got its name from.
Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas is pronounced Ah-Mah-Lee-Ah.
Back when Carnival didn’t smell like weed everywhere.
Great times hairy Mary’s and leg warmers 😍
I bet if they brought back the midnight buffet, the passengers would love it. However, with today's bean counters running the show, it will never happen.
$7.5 for a 1.5 liter of Beefeater!
Ron Barcelo Santo Dominican rum was $1.75 a pint.
i know those plastic deck chairs were HOT! Wouldnt dare sit without 2-3 towels
When I was 7 I used to imagine sniffing her shoes after all that running on Anneka's Challenge and Treasure Hunt.
I've been in and out of jail throughout my life
I'd still share a cabin with Anneka though. But not on a Carnival Cruise shit.
😂😂😂
Known today as "Walmart of the Seas"
Yes, and they are awsome!!! Can't wait to board the Carnival Mardi Gras in 3 weeks!!
@@jorgechiubomberos Yes, despite this well-known reputation, I loved my twelve days Journeys cruse on Carnival in 2024.
Bit different to Cruising with Jane McDonald ….
Man looks at girl
Girl smiles
For 12 day's they have fun and get to know each other and even carry on the relationship when they get home. It may be a long distance relationship for a while, but soon their relationship gets serious and they move in together and the rest is history.!!
Is that so weird.?!!
I did the first line of this lil story last week and got a six month suspended sentence for 2 year's.!!!
All I can think about with cruise ships is Norovirus
The floating sewers of the sea, I’ve never been on one and nowadays no chance to anyway. I’m sure they were fun to many.
They are still fun, and how can you say that you don't like it, when you have not tried one???
No one will miss you then.
Yuk.
This was a free commercial for Carnival by Thames. Pathetic. Not one critical word is how you know..
Wonder if she got some 12" action from the attendant
is this really fun? Chugging drinks? Downfall of society if you ask me
Sound likes she enjoyed late night 🌙 cabin service from the waiter Black beard aswell
😅😅
I will never understand the concept of cruises...
Thats because you have not been on one
It's like seeing new countries, but without the flying, booking an hotel and going out for food. The cruise ship has it all.
It will take you to different countries, it is it's own hotel resort, it's own pools, water park, games and activities, bars and restaurants.
That is why
