I really enjoyed this video, thank you ! Peaceful and insightful. I admire your commitment to your beliefs as in your everyday life. And losing some jobs due to that is I suppose, the price for being free from compromission. But this doesn't stop life being worth living and enjoying. So, looking forward to future videos and some reading from your booklists. Cheers!

    Hey Venetia,
Your recommended restaurants, books, podcasts etc. They are all so good and spot on. Have you thought about the newsletter format or a Patreon where you can share your reading lists or watch lists?
It might end up being a great source of income and a way for people who appreciate your advocacy to contribute so you don't need to hustle as much.
You may already have this going and I haven't seen it!

@@Cpark1401thank you, this is interesting and helpful. i'd be absolutely open to starting a substack back up again, but i worry that it would mean youtube would then fall by the wayside (much like my podcast has) as it seems the max amount of platforms i can manage is three at one time. about 18 months ago, i asked my podcast community if they prefer ads, or if they'd pay for the podcast behind a substack paywall, and the majority went for ads - despite it being next to impossible to having ads that everyone is happy with. perhaps i should ask you guys in the next video? maybe i do a poll!

@VenetiaLaManna_ I really like Leena norms gumption club patreon. We tip per video, and then she does a chatty podcast every couple of weeks that is exclusive for patreons. It's extremely informal, though, and unedited. More like an extended voice memo with reccomendations ect. I can imagine working with advertisers is a nightmare.

I've done that thing with off cuts of tile and use it to put my warm pots on, it works so well. My parents have had one for like 20 years now, and it just won't crumble or fall apart.
My goal is to find discarded cuts of bigger tiles that people have used for their counters (that won't be used) to use on my window sills because they're built out to cover the radiators in my home, but they're just painted so the paint sticks to any vase or lamp I put there and peels off. I also want to find some bigger ones to use behind where my sink and my cooker is, to be able to easily clean any splashes on the wall. There are so many cute ones out there and it's a great way to make sure things get used. Actually a pretty cute, more sustainable Christmas present too, if you manage to find cut offs of tiles that suit people's vibe.

    Hi Venetia,
As many before me, I believe you are doing an amazing work! ❤️ You inspire and teach me so much in the past 5 years that I follow you. I never felt slightly offended by your activism. In my book you target the "right" issues in the "right" way by putting the spotlight on corporations and systems instead of individual. For example, I often felt horrible after talking to vegan activists although we have similar goals but different approaches. My voice never seem to matter because I am mainly vegetarian. I've been interrogated by activists on my actions regardless of my efforts instead to seeing similarities. Never with you, your influence even make me closer to a plant-based lifestyle than many and I continue to become even more aware every video, podcast, etc. I like your approach and I decide to that it is mine as well.
I would definitely support you the best I can. As always love your energy and video ❤
    Love from Montréal
    Sandrine

Hey Venetia thanks for your lovey videos. I have watched you since I was 18 now 24! Love what you do and I am now running local swap shops in my area and I did my undergraduate thesis on what is preventing young people from engaging in ethical consumption which was so insightful. I have to thank you for inspiring me! I wanted to ask (if you had the time to answer) about social media. I've recently kinda "logged off" like I have the app deleted off my phone etc but I have this feeling sometimes then I'm missing out on ways to connect to new people/community groups/activist groups. I find instagram really bad for me as I tend to fall into self comparison and I honestly just prefare my life without it it's a lot less chaotic haha. But yeah if you had any advice on how to still feel connected to others but not being on instagram that would be really helpful! Thanks

Venetia, is there a way for you to share the brands that do not want to work with you because of your activism without violating DNRs/privacy? In addition to consciously seeking out sustainable, ethical brands and businesses, it would be good to know which to avoid (besides the big names we know and hate).
I am not in a position to spend money right now, but I will click on your affliliate link anyway in the hope it shows that your audiences supports you and wants to see you continue to receive opportunities from non-exploitative brands. ☀

thank you for asking this, i don't think i can offer this specific insight at present, but perhaps in the future. in the mean time, the brand boycott lists I use are: BDS, Friends Of Al Aqsa and Ethical Consumer Magazine. thank you also for clicking the link 🥹 that is genuinely so thoughtful and i'm grateful! please know that there is never ever EVER any pressure to buy anything that i mention on any of my channels ♥️

I would love to know which brands to boycott for this reason but I don't expect you to share those with us. Thank you for always putting ethics first. You are a pure soul and that's why so many of us adore you and your work. í hope our compliments can drown out the negative crap that's thrown at you!
