I can only imagine what she was going through. I myself am going through a tough pregnancy (though as a pop star i can only imagine how bad it must be) and it can be soul crushing some days. Now on top of that people are following you EVERYWHERE and photographing you. And like some women go through major struggles to reclaim their body after all of this happens to your body in 9 months. She probably DID have a breakdown. Im sure i certainly wouldve

When I watched her breakdown I thought she was sincerely trying to get out of her record contract by destroying her image so they wouldn't want her anymore. I recall her complaining about being constantly hounded by paparazzi and wanted a break from working. I thought she wanted out of the business. What a living hell to be forced in it while being isolated and having all human rights revoked.

Well its like.... NOW if you go onto Instagram and look at hashtags related to her, you most often see some horrible things. Like for example i was scrolling in my discover section and came across a series of photos taken of her after shed shaved her head, crying and holding her son at a table. Theres SO MANY paparazzi photos taken of her with the intent to make her look a certain way. This poor woman was going through so much and people just sought to take advantage of her

Even if she was 18-22 it would still be an awful thing to say. Unless the star is actually showing them off or something, there should be no reason to ask about their bodies like that. At any age. And Britney was right when she said Christina and J-Lo both posed practically nude around the same age but she was the only one getting shit for it. Only because she had the innocent school girl look and she looks so young and innocent so people don't see her as a sexy woman even when she was in her 20's and being more sexual dance/outfits. I can relate to that sort of thing. Even after gaining some weight people still look at me like I'm some innocent little girl. I feel bad for her.

I think Many of us confused our love of her and wanting her to be ok with egging the media on more and more to continue to pry into her privacy. At the time, I thought I was just trying to find out more about my favorite celebrity hoping she was alright and that translated into more paparazzi bothering her. It’s so incredibly heartbreaking, and I truly hope she can finally get all the good things she deserves on HER terms.

Her shaving her hair was a total call for help i aways felt for her during that time. It was horrendous what she went through especially the custody battle, parent alienation, and loss of custody. She did look gorgeous bald he has a beautiful face. It is no wonder she had a breakdown and TG she did commit suicide. I hope she gets justice soon.

Just pointing out, that even if you don't present as traditionally feminine, you still experience street harassment. I know that from experience and the difference is that the harassment is typically more likely to be overtly aggressive / violent because the men are upset that they can't tell your gender. So shaving your head has its own consequences. You won't be invisible. You get a new type of uncomfortable attention

I'm 32. As a little girl I adored Britney. As a teen I pretended I never loved Britney. As an adult and a mom, I really get 2007 Britney.
Her life was never really hers, she wasn't allowed a private moment to be emptional or time to make mistakes outside of the public eye. Her most high profile relationship ended with her being painted as a villain and her ex using their relationship to really get his solo career going.
And then, after going through all of the hormonal changes of pregnancy twice in a year, she breaks and ends up fully losing her agency for the next 13 years.

"I care alot" is a good introduction in to how someone can be screwed over by the system. On a personal note, I don't care about "celebrities". While I appreciate their art, I really don't give two bits about who their dating, which fashion designer they are wearing or what they said last week. I tend to focus on the people in my life, not an illusion of an individual.

Looking back, I just can't believe that back in 2007 so many people (including myself at 15) considered shaving off one's hair could be considered such a big deal as to assume that Britney had lost her mind.

It wasn't just paparazzi that were harassing her, if you listen to what she said in a brief comment that she "was tired of them touching" her, meaning strangers grabbing at her whenever they wanted and her being her wasn't allowed to react. If you see the smile on her face when she shaves her head she knows they won't find her attractive after and therefore wouldn't be grabbing at her. The industry is full of this type of harrassment and sexual abuse.

I was 9 when she broke in 2007, and at that age I did not understand what was happening the only thing I knew was she looked terrified in so many photos. Also I will say I remember the leave Brit alone video and was like yeah fucking leave her alone. In retrospect I feel so incredibly awful for her, I completely understand her wish to get everyone away from her. Ive felt like that a lot. Like if I wasn't who the people around me were clamouring for (think if I were not desirable men wouldnt try anything with me) then I would be left alone. Shaving your head is a really quick and effective method of sending that message.

Got to the end of the video. It's a shame Brittany Spears got dragged through the mud over nothing.
Keep up the great work :D New subscriber.
PS - Could you possibly cover workplace abuse in the game design industry and how corporations try and prevent unionization of workers?
Gaming really needs to consider this; because the artists, programmers, writers and level designers do not get their due at the top of their game ( Unlike executives and management who oftentimes don't know a thing about their game studio or publisher).
But only if you find it interesting or worth covering.
    Thank you!

Great topic to bring up. The Patriot Act had an episode about this on Netflix and I was shocked at the working conditions 😳 Reprehensible.

@@lkf8799 fairly standard to put in a lot of work for game development, but if they insist on some crunch, at least compensate the dev teams well.. Instead of upper management, who often don't directly impact the calibre of games or the studio's standing with gamers.
The case of Mike Andrew Nash was really sad. He died of the stress through cardiac failure and had to take meds to manage. He was the mechanical creature production lead on Horizon Zero Dawn and a phenomenal artist. He wasn't even old..

As someone who has been under a temporary conservatorship - I suffered a TBI and was comatose for 4 weeks and in therapy for a year and a half, my parents didn’t pay themselves out of my settlement, and the union paid my lawyer - it was complicated. I don’t remember much of it, but I was definitely craving independence after I woke up.

This video proves why we need more constitutional judges to prevent the rampant abuse of people's constitutional and human rights that is evident here. The dry lack of empathy to someone caught up in this system is obvious.

I am not sure I would've had as much empathy if I was a teen when Brit had her meltdown. I remember thinking 'fat Britney' on the VMAs was still goals, that she looked out of it on that performance and perhaps needed more time off. However, I was an adult with some life experience at that point. I may have laughed at how over the top Chris Crocker was being, but I agreed that people should leave Britney alone.

I was twelve when Britney has her "breakdown" and I didn't know much about it at the time, but when I got my first real job at 18 at a movie theater I went a month before shaving my head. It was partially the stress of not wanting to deal with it when working a job with a lot of physical movement around hot equipment but getting a job where you deal with a lot of people means you get exposed to a lot of crap from creeps, and shaving my head was def a form of reclamation and I loved it so much. I grew my hair out eventually, but I loved shaving my head and I'll probably end up doing it again, so I completely understand why Britney did what she did and you're right, she looked really good and she doesn't deserve the shit she got for it.

Brittney: *does the woman thing of being overly polite while trying to stand up for herself so she doesnt get attacked*
    Paparazzi:...
    ...
She never said to leave her alone, how was i supposed to know she didnt want us shoving cameras in every inch of her body and invade every second of her life leaving her with no privacy? She should have said something
(Not like they would have ever listened to her/ever did when she did speak up)

I've been binging your videos and they're awesome. Phrases and statements like "I have always viewed the situation as something that I don't think would ever have happened to a man in America" and "Usually used for elderly people" and referring to Britney, or anyone, as a "functioning woman" have all been used within the first 2 minutes of the documentary. These statements completely ignore the role of ableism in Britney's and others' conservatorships. Thank you for your videos

I shaved my hair into a mohawk after my mother told me I looked like a boy for having chin length hair...and I can't tell you how many times I had to fight the urge as I've gotten older to just shave it all off because my stress level was just out of control and I needed to do something...anything. I regret not being more sympathetic to Britney. She deserved better. i really hope she gets out of this shit conservatorship because I really don't think she needs it. She should have her freedom. there was missing parts like Adam Streisand he the only attorney that appeared in the documentary and Britney wanted to work with attorney John Eirdley he did not appear in the documentary but he the attorney that wanted to put Britney's case to federal court what is the difference between estate court and federal court? and how it could help Britney and it can help her now? and how?

    • @LeejaMiller
      @LeejaMiller  3 года назад +1

I talked a little bit more about Streisand and Eirdley in my first video. Basically it’s in state court because conservatorships are governed by state court. Her case would only go to federal court if she were to claim a larger wrong like a violation of her rights or a violation of federal law. That’s I believe what Eirdley (or maybe it was Streisand) tried to do but the court threw it out saying she wasn’t competent to hire an attorney.

@@LeejaMiller I saw a video of a lawyer saying that John Erdley wanted to transfer Britney's case to federal court because the estate Court sealing documents and according to the lawyer in the video said that John Erdley said that sealing documents it's not necessary and that the estate Court keep information under the rug but the court said that they want to keep it in privacy and of Course Britney can't take attorney I'm not an attorney but I agreeing with John Erdley because no one is honest and I just find this interesting just to say the least that Britneys father wants to keep everything in the Hash Hash 🤫🤫🤫🤫

For sure, I think the older you get.. you feel more for her, I was 18 in 2007, I did suffer from mental illness in the late teens, I guess coming out etc. Life is hard and I would never even think of how she felt. I think the older you get, the more sympathy you have.
