Panic attacks are a serious thing guys. Anxiety can mess with your breathing, make your heart feel like it's stopping, your ears pound, you sweat, a ton of things. It's no joke.

It's a diva cup(menstrual cup) !! Girls use that on their periods besides tampons and pads, but it's reusable all u gotta do is wash it so it's convenient in a time like that.
To be fair, diva cups are a 21st century invention. Tampons, napkins, pads, "wings" even sponges are more recognizable.

Panic attacks are no joke. They come from anxiety- in this case from fear of losing Ellie and letting Tess down. He said it, he fails. Even in his dreams. Fate of the world in his hands and he’s scared to death of dropping the ball.
When i first saw this, i couldnt tell they were panic attacks. I had panic attacks when I was a teen and they always developed more slowly and went away slowly. Never just suddenly came on and suddenly stopped. So i thought this was a heart prob.
Loved this episode. The actors absolutely killed it in this one. So glad they let Joel finally show some emotions and they did a great job showing what PTSD can do to someone. Btw that was a period cup for Ellie. Next episode is the Left Behind DLC
They had to change how he gets hurt. Honestly there's no way he would realistically survive what happened to him in the game. We'll still always have the game version to enjoy
we dont want realistic that boring. what zombie show is realistic? they want us to believe that there isn't even one runner/ clicker outside the city, that Joel has an endless supply of bullets when he sniping, or that elite and Joel really didn't die from frostbite when they were sleeping in snow with only a thin sleeping bag?? come on.
I don’t play the game, but it does seem like they could have made that fight scene better.. he still could have been impaled the simple way, but why not still have both of them have to fight off a few people or clickers?
@@DesireeDanae It's still a show so it's not going to be fully realistic but it's always been that way including how the cordyceps infection works. There have been infected outside the city like the one Ellie killed and the Cody tower was overrun as mentioned in this episode. Infected being in heavily populated areas makes more sense too. The sniper that Joel took was being used by someone stationed there previously so why wouldn't there be ammo? We don't really know how cold it is to say they couldn't survive but they built a fire and stayed in a cave. It's better to think of it like they're playing on the Grounded difficulty basically.
@@wewereonlyseven9325 I agree to a certain extent. There were no clickers I believe at this point though, but in the game there was a gun fight and it was definitely more intense. That's my only complaint with the show so far, they've skipped a lot of action and infected.
It coincides with what he said to Tommy the night before they left. He isn’t as sharp as he was. He’s slower and half deaf - got caught slippin. Simple.

Try to understand Joel, he's had a crappy journey to find Tommy and lost Tess, Frank and Bill along the way. Worried about losing Ellie. He comes to Tommy and he has moved on with life and been fine.
The dog would've detected active infection. It's dormant in Ellie.

I think he was thinking of a diaphragm. RJ said that it would stop the sperm from coming in…he would know the word ‘condom.’ A diaphragm is a form of birth control from back in the day. It was a plastic disc a woman would insert before unprotected sex as a way to block the sperm from going any further.

Rutina Wesley (Maria)is one of my favorite actresses she played in true blood as Tara and on a episode or 2 of the walking dead she played michones best friend who ends up going crazy and tries to kill michone well she’s pregnant also love Pedro and Bella both are such incredible actors I just found out last year Bella Ramsey is actually 19 in real life so seeing her play a 14yr old is wow so good.
A 56 year old man already struggling with his health cannot realistically be impaled by rusty rebar and survive in a world without medical help. There are levels of suspension of disbelief, but that would lean too heavily into cartoonish for this particular show version.
I think ppl at any age wouldnt be able to get up off that kind of impalement. They did that to rick in walking dead and it was stupid…no way he got off and walked for as long as he did.
Speaking of Brother Bear, that movie never failed to make me cry no matter how many times I've watched it. It always hit me in my kokoro
Y’all were hating on Maria so bad for no reason when she was being realistic considering the only thing she knows is what Tommy told her. It’s not bad that they’re adding little hints of season 2 like showing dina because in the second game they do mention how Dina saw her when Ellie first ever arrived and it’s nice to see them adding details we have only heard about, a 50 year old man with heart problems cannot survive being impaled like he was in the game it was not realistic and neither was in the game there’s no way for someone to survive that so it’s good that they changed it because adding it just makes the series look unserious and cartoonish

yes it is rumored that they were going to make dina appear to hint for the next season so that it’s most probably her especially since in the second game dina mentions how she saw ellie in the dining place when she first ever came and yes it’s the same place and it was winter time not spring. also i’m glad they changed the last part because how he got impaled in the game wasn’t realistic and he couldn’t really survive that if it were to happen in real life. you keep asking why they keep adding some stuff but they were in the game i just don’t think any of you remember 😭
The reason they didn't do the rebar impalement like in the game, is because they didn't want look similar to TWD when Rick fell on rebar. Also, in reality a human being probably would not survive the fall from that height let alone being impaled like it is in the game.
Yes I was going to mention this. While it does work in the game, even when I played that segment, I legit thought Joel died especially when we shifted to playing as Ellie. Realistically falling from that height and landing on rebar like that especially with that injury not being treated immediately causes severe infection and in most cases death. So seeing Joel come back from it and being able to take down two guys like nothing (while badass) did not feel realistic. Changing it to being stabbed by the broken piece of a bat works better. Sure it is still a severe injury but a bit more easier to accept.
It's crazy cuz Neil and Craig won't confirm that's Dina, but they're not denying it either.
They're putting some elements of part 2 in season one. They said that would be the case.
I think they are rushing season 1 to get to season 2. the amount of hidden gems that are in season 1 that pertain to season 2 is crazy
@@DesireeDanae i don't know if they're rushing it, but there's definitely quite a bit of part 2. I think those parts just fit to move a narrative that makes sense for TV. It's very well written imo.

Loved the reaction LOL. As for when Joel got stabbed, you can see when it actually happens. As soon as the guy breaks the bat against the tree, you can see him stab Joel with it really quick.
My guys! This was a good episode. The couple in the beginning were hilarious. Glad that Joel met up with Tommy and that he's seemingly doing good. Im sure Joel will make it but man, that bat shank looked like it hurt... and why, why did you pull it out mane!
I love the part in First Blood where they send the dogs after him and the next thing is Yelp!!!
I understands why Tommy didn’t want to go.. but I also understand Joel.. I didn’t play the game.. so to see what they went through to get there because he felt like he had to save his brother, just to see him living THE life😭😭..

I really understand why Joel was mad...when Tommy realized he was safe he could've messaged his brother and let him know that he was safe...but no decided to go no contact with him, so obviously Joel is gonna get worried and try to find him because that's what he seems to be doing his whole life protect Tommy 🤷🏾♀️

He did use the "your answer better be the same" line when Ellie was captured by Davids cult, and we're definitely going to see Joel use that line in episode 8, there have been a few hints building to his darker side coming out.

I find this line to be really deep and the message it conveys is really powerful.
When Ellie asked Joel what would they do after the fireflies found a cure, Joel responded: Oh, it's a "we"?
This pretty much says a lot about Joel 'not wanting' to be with Ellie after a cure is found.
Joel wants to spend the rest of his life on a sheep ranch, whereas Ellie wants to be an astronaut; two totally different paths.
When Ellie went to sleep Joel said "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon", which means that he actually wants their paths to cross! As much as he denies it, he now sees Ellie as part of his life, kind of a daughter.
It shows the duality of Joel; on one side he is cold and says that Ellie is just cargo, but on the other side, his heart sees Ellie as his daughter.

The third episode had Ellie find a box a tampons--a first for stories talking place in the apocalypse. She likely ran out of those months ago. This episode is addressing that and the future since tampons are few and far between in this new normal that lost all factories decades ago. Menstrual cups are reusable, rinse, wash repeat.

27:10 You wanted to see him fall from the second floor on to rebar? That works in a game, but he'd be dead in real life. Some how Joel didn't break any bones and escaped a concussion in the game, and to top it off, he landed perfectly on to rebar. This change up is much more realistic and still moves the story forward, ending up where the game did. I have no issues with this change up.
Much of the university is very much like a video game with its many sidequest and, IIRC, our first encounter with a Bloater. They don't meet Fireflies at the university in the game, so why spend a lot of time here? Fleshing out Kansas City and making that an epic fall out allowed for this episode to show more of Maria and Tommy's place. While we might not have had a chance to see much of it in the game, we can assume it was there--there's no way they built all the new places we experience in the second game in just four years.
Anyway, next week and what follows should be wild. I cannot wait!

this episode was super super rushed considering it's some of the most important scenes in the game
man they are missing the mark left and right. how did they skip all the iconic scene in the game ? starting from the epic hotel scene , the bill and manuvering through his bobbie tarp town, creeping through the raider city with sam and Henry plus that whole sewer scene when the kids get swapped and we cant forget the the turning point scene of Ellie running away because she feels unwanted and dont get me started on the underwhelming college scene. they are trying to make the show so realistic to the point its not believable. no runners or clickers anywhere, only in the city is crazy. at the end of the day this is a zombie show that should feel intense, gritty, and heartbreaking but the show turned it into this rushed underwhelming story. this episode is a 5 at best for me.
