I grabbed one of these when they came out and I have to say. I can't stop staring at it while it hangs on my wall. You say it's not an exciting plane but I disagree.
It's definitely not an exciting plane - Jon talking to a camera for 25 minutes while discussing how to run a YT channel performed better than this, unfortunately.
THE BEST VIDEO FOR THE D-18 EVER!! Thanks for all of the USEFULL INFORMATION on the D-18. I am a hack pilot who is learning as I go. I am willing to spend bucks on the companies that spend money on supporting TRUE teachers of the sport/hobby. What I liked is that you showed the complete landing pattern for each touch and go and explained what you were doing. You showed your rates and expos (which I will to adjust for my beginner skill level). Kudos to the camera crew. Contact me for more information. All the best, Craig.
Because you upgrade alot of the planes (awesome), have you thought of doing like an uograde series on different planes, like flying it box factory and then doing an upgrade and flying it again? Would be a bloody good watch imo!
You mention the Du-Bro Low Bounce 2.5" wheel upgrade at the 3:00 mark of your video. In an earlier comment below you were asked how did you remove the stock wheel from the plastic Y-shaped landing gear bracket. You replied, use a thin Leatherman screwdriver as the pry tool. I have tried to get a replacement set of landing gear here in Canada for just in case but can’t. I have to buy it from the States which has very expensive shipping (just for the wheel set. I have one shot at this. Where exactly did you apply pressure to force open the plastic Y-shaped bracket? I get the rest of your explanation with the CA glue etc. As always, super videos. Thank you
It's been a while since we changed the struts out. There's probably a guide on RC Groups you can reference if you Google "RCGroups E-flite Beech D18". Check the thread and there's most likely an explanation already.
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks for replying. I’ll figure it out. Step one would be get a spare set of landing gear. I have been to the forum. One person mentions the upgrade with a picture showing the replaced tire. Cheers.
Here is what I did.... The grey plastic Y-shaped strut cover (has front and back halves) actually holds the wheel to the metal strut. It's a two-piece component, you'll be able to see the seam line easily. Use a very thin screwdriver from something like a Leatherman tool or an Exacto Knife to pry it open its entire length (from the metal strut and the top end to the wheel axle). You'll have to CA glue it back together when you're done. Use Binder Clips to hold the two halves together while the glue is drying. Now I can't figure out how to get to the grub screw to take out the stock landing gear to replace it with the modified ones with the Du=Bro wheels. I can't get any help from Horizon Hobbies. Do you remember how to get this done?
The plastic part of the strut can be separated since it's two halves mated with glue. Use something thin like a very sharp screwdriver at the mating point and separate them, then glue them back together when you're done putting the new wheels on.
Hey man! I honestly didn’t think putting Dubro tires on this bird was possible. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to get the wheel out of the “housing”. Could you help me out with that? Like what do you have to do to get the wheels out?

Hello again guys! Really enjoyed this video. Using two 3S 2200 batteries in parallel looks like a great Idea. I did the Du-Bros front tire upgrade, but would like to also upgrade the rear tire. Could please post which Du-Bro tire you used..
Awsome review last week i received my D18 you said you throws where 150 and expo 50? Do you have a full set up sheet for your setting mt tx is nx10. Thank you
We don't have any setup guide for the D18 - all you have to do is unlock the receiver and factory reset it to use 150% rates. Be sure to copy down the AS3X settings if you want to keep them stock and reprogram the values back into it. Expo is purely a personal thing so you'll want to experiment to see what works for you.
Thank you i crashed my plane be for the crash all setting right per the book no matter what i did the plane went up and to the left, (rest is nessesary)
Hey, I Need your help I have realy Big Problems at the landing, i cant handle it when it Rolls on the frontwheels. It slides to the Right and cant bring it Straight or left. Trim is in the perfect middle, in the air it flight Straight and if i roll before start it Rolls Straight. Dont know what i did wrong Hope you can help, Big thanks
i also have that plane i noticed that slow flight is not the best with that one it likes to stal and drop a wing and can get narly at times maybe my fault as i fly it to slow some times but i have had times that it done some weird stuff to me . but it is a tank and can take som abuse and crashes 😂 . as it cost a lot i find it scary to fly it some times and i also fly it at a fotboll field with houses around
@@TwoBrosRC I guess I don’t get that with Futaba. I believe that I use a S.Bus2 Hub with recognized telemetry sensors. I’m just getting back into the hobby after ten years. Any advice, suggestions, tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 10J
i noticed that mine flies so much better with a 4500 4s all the way forward on the plane to penetrate the wind better and fly less like a floaty butterfly

Gourges bird.
I'm addicted to the touch and go.
Fly it like you STOL it.
Nice video. I just got my D18 and your observation and recommendations are nicely noted for incorporating in my maiden flight🤗
I love this video and I love your fantastic work that you guys do!!!
Never get tired of hearing prop twins.
Thanks for the replacement wheel advise.....excellent. Have learned a lot on your channel.
Glad to help!

We've tried that format and it didn't do well unfortunately. We might try it again.
One of my favorits Plane...
Definitely a beautiful plane. I will get one this year.
Fantastic video thanks for sharing 👍 😀
13:06 those mosquitoes love those legs..
Sorry buddy.. i just couldn't help it
Great show yet again
🤣
Nice flying Jon. I love this beauty...
Thanks Adam!
Ooo I love this one!! Reminds me of the Sky King series I loved when I was a kid!
Great flying and showing off it’s attributes and grace!!
Nice! The Twin Beech is one of my favorite Golden Era twins! Still need to maiden mine.
Definitely a favorite for any scale flyer like myself. Absolutely great video. Love your content! 👍
Thank you!

How do you change the wheels ? I would love to fit the dubro pneumatic wheels.
Info can be found on the RC Groups thread.
How did you do the wheel upgrade? I’m worried I’ll break it to fit the dubros on.

If it was 2000mm I’d have one. It would be the same size as my B-25, and C-47. 👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻
Just started daydreaming about a RC flight formation of all three planes. That would be a magnificent sight to behold.
The LX B-25 w/bomb drop and Top-flite C-47 w/paratroopers drop. And I’m sure I could put a side door on this one too 😃👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻

I can't figure out how to change the wheels to Du bro 2.5's. The gear doesn't seem to seperate. Can you give me some help? Please :D
Check the RC Groups thread, they'll have info on this.

Yes, you'll need a cable.
Hi, really nice video, maybe you should be interested in fms mxs v2, really excellent plane
i wann buy one and see if i can convert it into a xa38 grizzly

Is that the GPS telemetry sensor giving you G callouts?
No, all modern Spektrum receivers (including BnF receivers) provide G-force telemetry.

We'd personally recommend moving to a Spektrum setup if you're planning to fly a lot of Horizon models.

Don't know about "warbird like." It's an old airliner. But it is gorgeous. Wish I could afford it.
This airframe has a long and distinguished legacy in the Warbird community... Many, many variants...
Anyone have any tips on how to actually replace the wheels before my ooga booga brain breaks my plane figuring it out?
Info's in the comments!
Boring but cool. Nice touch and goes
