    Thanks for your incisive comments, from a bea maker's perspective. I've been using the M1 Mac mini since mid-February, and I absolutely love it. While no computer/OS is completely bulletproof, I've ran into way fewer issues with system overloads and CPU issues...or I should say, no issues of such a kind. I have a late-2013 MacBook Pro I got new, and upgraded the SSD and battery last year. It's still a keeper, but the M1 really is the real deal as a game changer. Glad your overall experience has been positive. Also, you look like you've been healing up from your health issues nicely....keep it up!

    My experience: I’m a full time music producer, engineer and mastering engineer. I work 6 days a week. I don’t use Mac even though I know are great machines. What I have is a 2017 HP I7 quad core 3 GHz, 12 gigs of ram, 2 SSd Samsung. I was working on a proyect with 16 VSTis, 40 audio tracks and about 80 plug-ins. It was an investment of just 1k. PCs are up for the task still

    Hi, I'm so hype on this live stream session it will be great to see u making music live 🔥🐐 I'm about to buy Machine mk3 so it will be super cool watching you using this on live tho and maybe in the future u can make more tutorials/beatmaking using machine so I can learn. This M1 Chip is crazy I'm super happy of my MacBook Air 16gb It run Ableton 11 like crazy and u don't even hear the fans cuz is not there 😅 Serum, Arturia V collection , all Waves plugins and other vst running just great except Xpand!2 and Izotop Iris2 but other Izotope plugins such a Ozone9, Neutron works rly well. After 3 months using it I can highly recommend to anyone who consider buying one.

    Great content as always👍 I've recently purchased my m1 Mac mini with 256gb 16gb of RAM. I've seen in other videos that the way to go as far as storage goes for all audio files/virtual instruments/etc is external ssd. Do you recommend any particular usb/thunderbolt hub? Also are most external SSD generally the same? My setup is just for beats. Thanks for your time, cheers.

    M1 - yummy! Cool upgrade for the studio, Accurate! and thanks for commenting on software compatibility and connecting routes. Was worrying, and you've answered most. Finished ("finished" - lol) ... completed my setup with Polybrute and Moog Subsequent 37CV, driven by Verselab for DAW-less (yes, the groovebox I landed, as a midi sequencer for external synths, and/or for Roland ecosystem sound).
    I also love UAD, great to know it works for M1. I'm extending TwinX thru ADAT from PreSonus 1824C (ran out of ducats to get Arturia rack one :). This way the whole thing also connects to iOS, which I'm still a big fun of (bed-and-bathroom iPhone/iPad studios, hehe).
    Lotsa new for me desktop-less opportunities I enjoy playing now, so by the time I'm ready for MacMini it'll be M1x or M2. I've been waiting years for Apple to upgrade their MacMini I wanted, now glad I porckrastenated until M1 came up. So when plugs mature and my piggybank fatten a bit, it'll all come together for the desktop no-latency heavens :)
    Glad I caught your new series today mate! hope can join for more! Cheers!

    Just have to say that I too have the M1 Mac Mini using Ableton 11. No issues except for a few of the Native Instruments plug-ins like you mentioned. However, I've had absolutely NO problems with the Arturia V-Collection running in Ableton. Every one has worked just fine (using Rosetta 2). But I don't want this to turn into a "works fine for me" type of thing. Obviously others are having some problems and some aren't. I think this next year while we wait for companies to update their software (if ever) will be interesting. I find it amazing that Adobe updated their main pieces of software so early to be universal, because when Apple went from PowerPC to Intel, Adobe DRAGGGED their feet in updating the software.

      Hi, what do you think of the 8 gb ram version for a medium-usage music production?? Right now i only have money for that version but idk if it will do it for me, just planning to use medium or normal cpu usage plugins, nothing too fancy

    • @ksgant
      @ksgant 3 года назад

      @@pimentocheese618 I have the 8 GB version and it's been fine. I've also put it under heavy load with with Ableton 11 and editing video with DaVinci Resolve. Plus converting long video into a different format with Handbrake. It has handled everything I through at it.

    • @pimentocheese618
      @pimentocheese618 3 года назад

      @@ksgant wow! those are good news, so it seems that ram performance on M1 chips is better than on an intel cpu? Also if you say that you can run arturia vst's that is quite something since all people say those plugins are a bit greedy

  • @ThMntnst
    @ThMntnst 3 года назад

    I'm feeling quite the same about the M1 Mac Mini, it is - even in the most basic setup - a nobrainer. Considering I use Ableton mostly to record, arrange and mix my hardware-recordings and to sounddesign samples and additionally program my Novation SL MKIII with Templates I only cared about that working. What I knew when I early-adopted it, was that I had to be patient about audiointerfaces being supported completely (coming from a setup of much hardware and using bigger Interfaces including adat-expansions). Since around two months that works fine and I'm served nicely. Since around that time there is a rapid increase in compatibility of plugins as well, so I guess you are right about that point.
    There is however one issue I have and which is mentioned in some forums too: Bluetoothdropouts (regarding mostly my mouse in that case). They have gotten better with the last updates but keep on being a thing which annoys me strongly.
    All in all the machine is still a catch, being relatively cheap, even compared to non-apple-gear and being really capable even with "base-stats".

    Hey, I don't use Logic but I read that using Logic through Rosetta seems to solve most plug-in issues. Ableton, Maschine, Arturia and every other plugin I have work fine on my M1 MBP. The only one that did not work was Expand!2, but a week or so ago I installed an update, and it works now. Thanks for sharing your experience !

    • @BeauTylerMakesMusic

    Great video! Just recently got an M1 MacBook Air and for now everything works perfectly, including Ableton and Logic as well as almost all of my plugins. However, for Logic, I had to adjust two settings before my plugins (including the Arturia ones) worked: 1. I have to open Logic in Rosetta Mode as long as not all plugins are natively supported (there are some tutorials for this online, it is basically a one-time setup). 2. Inside Logic audio preferences, I had to manually set the processing threads to the maximum of 8 (for some reason the default does not use all of the M1 cores...). Hope that helps if anyone has the same issues!

      hi, do u have the 8 or 16 gb ram version? I wanna produce music in a medium cpu usage (not too consuming) but right now i only have money for the 8 gb version :( will it serve my purpose???

    • @PaddyPlaysTheGuitar
      @PaddyPlaysTheGuitar 3 года назад +1

      @@pimentocheese618 Hey! I have the 16gb version. But I have seen some videos where the 8gb and 16gb version had been compared and it does not seem to make too much of a difference in most cases. Maybe if you want to load many large sample libraries or if you have very many tracks at the same time it could lead to some problems. But in terms of the cpu only, the M1 should be equally powerful for both the 8gb and 16gb versions I think!

    I have the 8gb one because here in Puerto Rico there’s no way to get the 16gb right out of the store. I sold my windows tower before purchasing the mac mini. I feel that I have a little bit of disadvantage because of the 8gb of ram comparing it to my old tower that had 32gb. I haven’t done a super large project yet. But I see some things happening when using plugins that makes me feel I won’t be able to work as I used to with my tower. Besides that I like the mac mini. Just wished to had the opportunity to get the 16gb one. Also all my software is compatible. No compatibility issues at all here.

      Yeah I have the 8gb version as well couldn’t come up with the 200 dollars for the upgrade and really wanted the m1. I’m interested how much of a difference from the 32 gb ram was there I know the m1 has super fast ram directly connected to the apu and can cache from the ssd under load. That being said it is only 8 GBs

    At 11:35 you show an external SSD on which you keep your Komplete libraries. Can you move that drive among different computers? Obviously you can only use it on one machine at a time, but another issue is how it would work with Native Access. If so, what do you have to do to set that up?

    Hi. So i'm thinking on buying a Mac Mini M1 for using Ableton live 10, but I'm not sure if it'll be the right choice since I don't know if any of my go-to plugins are available on that system, these are the plugins I intend to use: U-he Tyrell n6, PG 8X, Surge, Valhalla vintage reverb, Izotope Vinyl, Spitfire Audio Labs, Wider, Serum. Has someone had experiences with any of these plugins on a M1 Mac so far? Also i've read that the best way to do it is by using Rosetta 2, but i've read that Rosetta can damage the ssd of an M1 so i don't know what to do. Also idk if the compatibility problems have to be with m1 or the OS big sur. Any help would be appreciated
