Fun fact: I was at this performance. My guitarist's room mate at college was an intern at MTV and her job was to give away 20 tickets to this show. I still have the ticket. Most of us sat right behind the tracks for the camera cart but the last two in our group got separated and had to sit behind the band. They're the ones that stood up and were dancing at the beginning of Evenflow. We were kinda laughing at them for doing that but 30 some odd years later, they're the ones that can prove they were there. Lol

The guitar with "the metal around" is called resophonic guitar, but since the most famous brand producing them was Dobro, they are called dobros (so he plays a dobro) ;)

It was only a few years ago. I was 23, still living in Wales (UK). In a very distant part of the country as well. There are no opportunities out there for young people unless you drive, you did well at school or you come from a privileged background
I was going through some emotional and social complications and really felt that I needed to get away to find a new life. Having been raised in the countryside and feeling at home in the hills, moving scared me silly... but I knew I had to do something.
Not long before having an opportunity to move to Fareham on the south coast of England, I got into Pearl Jam and was mesmerized by Eddie's voice and the band's sound.
The Album 'Ten' gave me courage and faith in myself and inspired me to go find the life I wanted.
Three years later, I'm living in Southampton. I have my own flat, I've got a decent job but also studying part-time to be an electrician. The rest of my life consists of the 2 biggest passions of my life... cycling and music. The issues I had are now just a distant memory.

"Resonator guitars" (the one with the metal on it) a big in Bluegrass music due to it's unique sound.

I read a comment from another video that evening he had a sore throat, probably why he had some extra grit to his voice. If you notice right at the beginning of the video he puts down a mug behind him...sipping on hot tea. And still able to preform.

Man I miss all the great albums that I was introduced to in the 90’s, but Ten?! That is a special one. Ten is like an old friend, one that you may not speak to for years, but by chance you run across each other and are instantly reminded of great memories of your childhood.

I was in a gang up to no good. If anyone didn’t listen to hip hop they were made fun of and bullied. I was about 12 or 13, and I was in my room after getting this album for Christmas and listened to it for months, but whenever my friends came over I hid every album that wasn’t de la sol or nasty nas. One of my favorite albums of all time.

Funny story that I don't think gets told much, is there original equipment was lost, or damaged...I can't remember which, but they had to come up with those instruments at the last minute. Greatest rock band ever!

"The Butcher," by Canadian musician Leonard Cohen. From his album, "Songs From a Room." -- released in 1969-- Requires a lyrical analysis alongside the music, as the lyrics are paramount to this beautiful acoustic song. You should really do a "Canadian Music Month." My cohorts would be screaming for some "Hip" decompositions to be done. ;)

Geebs I love that your doing Acoustic this week. As a musician and not being in a band for the last 10 years I always have to learn songs acoustic because when I perform it's with an acoustic guitar. There was a stretch of many years of listening to everything unplugged or acoustic so I could get into that zone of even doing songs that haven't been done acoustic and turning them acoustic. Anyways, so now I'm 100% always unplugged and prefer listening to only acoustic as well. Wow I said acoustic alot 😆🤣

That guitar you were unsure of is called a Resonator Guitar. The sound made by the steel resonator is a fat sound with crisp high end.

Thank you so much! This was sooo good. This album plays a HUGE part in the soundtrack of my life. It was literally on repeat in my stereo whenever I was at home, I even did all of my homework listening to Ten. Must’ve drove my parents mad lol.
At my high school reunion, an old friend reminded me of how I’d walk into each class and write Pearl Jam on the board before I sat down 😄
I have watched this acoustic performance so many times that when I’m listening to it in my car I can visualise what’s happening on stage at any time. I have watched it that many times, and have not tired of it yet. What a band!
    Thank you!
