Jason Richardson & Luke Holland 'Tendinitis' Composer Reaction and Meltdown - WOW!! The Decomposer Lounge
you should check out their other music video "Hos Down" where they weave through a few genres in kind of a comedic way. :) another masterful composition worth reacting to.
Yeah, there is some epic playing here!!
Yes. That's actually what led me here. Hos Down was an awesome piece. All over the map haha
Absolutely. I believe Jason Richardson (guitar) wrote everything. They are simply amazing. New album coming soon. I can't wait.
Hos down is a great song. An Rick did a amazing part to it. Not taking anything away from them but the second album if Jason does make one will blow people away. A.T.R is what I see him doing now. But he will be a amazing musician and guitarist
LOL yeah man jason richardson and some metal guitarist are just insane. AWESOME HONEST VIDEO
Gotta check out Ho’s Down by this duo, Super innovative track
Also that delicious Rick Graham solo.
Xiv/behold by Jason Richardson is epic 🤘
Aloha, still here! Wow, more super crazy music, that beyond purple level! New bands and songs to blow the mind, prog metal. Soen: Opal (Swedish prog metal), Borknager: Winter Thrice (Norwegian prog metal), DImmu Borgir: Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse (Norwegian symphonic black metal), Eluveitie: Omnos (Swiss folk) RECYCLE< RECYCLE< RECYCLE: Katatonia: Heart Set To Divide, Draconian: Sleepwalkers, Opeth: Burden, Mastodon: Jaguar God, Type O Negative: Loved You To Death...
YEAH!!!! These two fit perfectly. Jason Richardson's album "I" is very interesting.
2:35 man's about to go holy shiiittt!!!
Wow, amazing stuff! @Geebz I know you listened to Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, etc. from a previous video, the guitar gods of your/my earlier days. In my mind - at least from a technical standpoint, bc there's much more to playing than pure technique, guys like this take things to a whole new level of playing. And drumming too has evolved to a whole new level of technical ability. These guys must live, breath and sleep with their instruments.
I’m glad you finally reacted to them but you gotta check out their song, Hos Down! It has some surprises I know you’d dig!
I'd love to see some branching into different languages as well, like the Soch video you did. There's so much amazing music around the world that we're missing out on!
My vote is for Khwaab by Thaikkudam Bridge. Won't nerd out too much right now, all I can tell you is that they've made songs with Guthrie Govan, Marco Minneman and Chris Adler, to name a few. They blend Carnatic (folk) music with western rock. Let's share more music from around the world please!
Claypool lennon delirium - blood and rockets
Mmmmm....saw the link and am already thinking...yea you'll have a field day with this one. Jason and Luke combined....a composer's dream...or nightmare.
Jason is in another project right with All That Remains, replacing the great Oli that died, I'm sure you are going get some rec's for that and Jason's other stuff when it drops. Look forward to seeing if you dig it.
Theres a track you haven't done by Born of Osiris, White Nile, Jason was in the band but left way before that. People would love seeing you react to it. But the guitars are the same style with the trills on the whammy and the rhythm. You'd get a kick out of dual solo.
Do Soothsayer or Siege engine by Buckethead next?
Another guitarist who would be a great reaction is Andy James.
Hos Down, Titan, and Fragments are great JR songs
Have you checked out the new album? Sheeeeeesh 😬
Don't you dare make your little guitar into a coffee table
Check out Jason Richardson - "Chapter II (feat. Jeff Loomis)" if you get a chance, incredible track
You should check out what he did on the album "The Discovery" from Born of osiris
these guys play 6 hours per day or more since years and years and yeah..
but thats quite insane
Jason: 1:55
Geebz: 1:56
idk why i find that so funny
Vitalism - Pagan 2 . If you liked this you love Vitalism.
Jason Richardson is one of the best guitarists there is he is also one of the fastest. He wrote most of this song himself.
that is to much jajajajaja
99% sure it was Jason Richardsons composition in the intro
Dude is a beast, check out "the discovery" by "born of osiris" i think jason wrote that album guitar wise and it is probably one of my favorite albums of all time
@@jonathanlollar6201 I really want KoG to check out XIV/Behold. The track is cracked!
@@TrevIEnt very true. Front to back its as close as you can get to a perfect metal album. He would be stopping every 30 seconds to analyze on those 2 tracks
Definitely Jason like you said. Pretty sure he composes everything and tracks everything except for drums, which is obviously Luke. He did a documentary about his first solo album which was cool to see.
@@joedorow6218 yeah after watching that i realized there is a reason hes so talented and creative. Hes a prodigy. And luke as well, playing in a band with him would make writing music too easy
I lost it at that "what the living heck did you guys got me into" look to the camera. Thanks for the video!
1:56? That look was great.
lmao same here
@@metalboy27 I thought he meant 2:43 lol
Luke is an AMAZING drummer. This video doesn't showcase it, but he's also very showy while doing it. Check out his solo videos. He really is amazing to watch.
3:38 that would be Jason Richardson. He really loves this type of orchestration and i think its one of his strengths. He's uploaded orchestra/programming only versions of a lot of his songs which I think are worth checking out as well.
Having heard this track before I can't help but wait for your jaw to drop.
Edit: lets get Devin Townsend - Kingdom 🤘
Nah, he's already done Earth Day, Deadhead, and Stormbending. Kingdom's a great introduction, he's already been introduced. Needs to do Funeral, Bastard, and The Death of Music.
Devin Townsend and Strapping Young Lad requests. This is the way.
SYL - Skeksis 🤘
@@alphaenemyplus8376 just the live versions
The most impressive part is that these 2 were tour support in Europe for Dream Theater a couple of years ago. Imagine going to a concert and seeing 2 guys walk on stage and then this happens.
I believe Taylor Larson was the engineer. He also did Periphery II and Matriarch from Veil of Maya, probably tons more!
Periphery 2 is the peak of this modern "djent" sound.
Taylor*. Tyler larson is music is win lol
@@chadmarx7718 dammit i spent 5 minutes deciding which was right and knew id fuck it up lol
Great reaction man! Jason does the arranging for the strings. He said he wanted his album to sound like it was part of a movie track so a ton of the music off his solo stuff has orchestra bits in it. He is a phenominal guitar player and Luke is an absolute beast on the drums! Jason also tracks the base and the synth and they just back track that live. So glad you checked this out. If you want more from him i would check out Hos Down or Omni. He even has a song with the singer from periphery on the album called Retrograde!
I going to need some more tesseract my man
Go check Luke Holland's Tendinitis drum playtrough! There you can actually see how insane shiet that is! :D
A great track that features Jason Richardson is "Aviator" by Polyphia, Jason does one of the most insane solo parts I have ever heard, even he has a hard time playing it perfectly
yeah that's a great track and great solo by him. Polyphia is more misa than hit for me, but that's def a hit
Yeah, that solo is utterly ridiculous. So much melody and expression it's just stupid.
Honestly that's probably my least favourite polyphia track if not for Jason's part. Just sounds pretty boring to me most of the time.
Been trying to learn that solo for the past 7-8 months. Can legitimately say it's the hardest thing for me to play cleanly on guitar, especially those sextuplets.
@@penguindrum264 damn man, that's a lot of time to stay committed to a solo. As a guitarist, I salute you sir.
Love you man
nice to see someone do something so cool
normally people just do reactions and I think it's a waste of time
but you educate people to a degree and I think that's AWESOME
FINALLY!! Third on my list of the songs i been asking for from them ,Awwwright!!! Please Revisit these guys soon and Do "Ho's Down" and "Omni" too!! You wont be let down!
Hos down is a perfect song for him to brak down because its made of bite-sized sections approx the length of where he usually pauses to talk about it. And all of them are jaw dropping
Yay! As a beginner/intermediate guitarist, Jason Richardson is one of my biggest guitar heroes! If I remember correctly Jason is the one who composed the orchestral intro. He's one of the best musicians of the current era of virtuosic guitarists/instrumental musicians that's been helping push the guitar to new limits technique wise while creating some awesome music. He was in a few bands before he started his solo band with Luke Holland who's the incredibly talented drummer. Previous bands including All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris, and Chelsea Grin. He's also currently the lead guitarist for All That Remains. A few songs I'd recommend you checking out that are from similar artists are The Woven Web - Animals as Leaders, Aviator - Polyphia and Shibuya - Covet. Another one of Jason's songs worth checking out is Hos Down. It features little parts from multiple genres that somehow mix to make a pretty awesome song. A song from someone you've already reacted to on the channel is Deep Peace - Devin Townsend which is definitely my favorite of his songs. There's a live version with his normal backing band as well as at least part of an orchestra. Thanks for putting out the awesome content. It's interesting to me hearing the thoughts of someone who's had quite a bit of music experience/knowledge and their ways of describing how they believe a song comes together. Looking forward to watching more content!
I misread that as "Jason Richardson is a beginner/intermediate..." hahahaha!
@@RandyLott haha, oh yeah, he certainly is. Every time I hear Jason play I always think "god this can't play, can he even play the hardest riff known to man known as Enter Sandman repeatedly like I do most days? Pssh, of course not." Pretty sure I called Jason a guitar wizard when describing him to a friend the other day haha. Definitely not a beginner/intermediate.
This is perfect bro, Jason is amazing, I can listen to anything he does. It's amazing.
I just subscribed to you and seen that you did Amber by 311 and I thought you would like sublime badfish it’s a really good song
I'd love to hear a reaction to The Proverbial Bellow by Between the Buried and Me
Do Pagan Vitalism next PLEASE
Aviations, Outliers. Prog/metal masterpiece, doesn't get any better. Keep up the good work.
Criminally underrated react suggestion: Born Of Osiris' "XIV" + "Behold" -- Richardson was a big part of the composition of the piece(s) and he demonstrates just how skilled and connected with his instrument he is/was when he was just 20 years old.
The sheer PANIC on this man's face when the song's finale hits at around 11:30 is just *impeccable*. "Oh! ... OH NO ... WTF NO STAHP!"
So glad to see either Luke Holland or Matt McGuire on here.
Polyphia’s ‘Lit’ is a great instrumental too!
I prefer light, the original song without all the electronic overdubs, but any polyphia song would be great, maybe nightmare would be best
Def. Jason on the comp. Check this out! It’s the orchestral comp. isolated.
ruclips.net/video/avvNnQKZ8VE/видео.html
Edit: maybe isolated isn’t the right word, but the guitar and drums are much quieter!
Ive always appreciated instrumental groups. Night Verses is another great one. And Russian Circles is just "muah" chef's kiss.
You should check out the instrumental albums tides of man put out.
Both Night Verses and Russian Circles are God tier.
Jason wrote all of the arrangements, luke wrote his own drum parts. I highly recommend omni by these guys, the production is always fantastic
Jason programmed all the drums at first then let luke incorporate it how hed play it
@@leestevens1539 k so luke wrote his parts ultimately.. way to waste your breath. Lol
@@browebrowe9753 "luke wrote his own drum parts" way to get people misunderstand.
@@yokisullivan8647 way to suck at english. Lol gfyo
Yes yes yes 100% yes, love this song so glad you got a chance to check it out. Thanks as always for the great content!
Damn! Can't tell if I need to take something and go lie down to recover or drink some coffee and clean the house
ELDER dead roots stirring for purple third eye prog
Potions by PUSCIFER on the recycle ♻️ Awwlright
Sick track. Next level drumming ROCK CANDY FUNK PARTY
Aloha. Thank you geebz
Cool background on Jason. He literally dropped out of high school just a few weeks before he would have graduated so he could fill in as the new guitarist for a metal band that were all adults and established. He took a huge gamble but never looked back and it totally paid off.
Nasty - Polyphia W/ Jason Richardson
Jason is a phenom, great reaction Geebs. Let's see some Arch Echo next, they have some of the best prog instrumental composition I've heard.
One of the best modern guitarist! So many youtube guitarist tryed to cover this, i dont if single one was able to pull it off with actual speed!
In tears laughing at your face every time a crazy section happened. 😂😂
These two are some of the most technically capable musicians in their respective genres. This is hands down one of my favourite tracks. Awesome Reaction Geebz!
try stömb! very underrated ambient progressive djent
I feel like you listened to about a quarter of my iTunes. Here some progressive gems to check out.
Native Construct - Come Hell or High Water
Zero Hour - Stratagem
David Maxim Micic - Smile
Native Construct would be so sick
You should check out andromida!!! The guy is blind and plays all instruments using overlays!!!! Amazing
Check out the songs Zenith, event horizon, light seeker, and infinity. Do yourself a favor!!!!!
ERRA - VANISH CANVAS puuuhhhllease
You absolutely need to check out blood of the scribe by lamb of god. Don't be tempted by their more popular songs, those are good but blood of the scribe (and some of the other songs from ashes of the wake) are much more interesting from a songwriting standpoint. Also check out Sea in the Sky and Intervals!!!!!!!
Another nail for your coffin would be another good lamb of god song to do!
Nice to listen to something completely new to me also and liking this! This channel is amazing!
Would love to see you do Ulver. Ulver's a band which has evolved greatly from black and folk metal to avant-garde and much more. Reaction to anything from Perdition City (my favourites being Lost in Moments and Future Sound of Music) would be awesome but also would anything from newer albums like Assassination of Julius Caesar.
Keep up the good work!
3 months out!
Kamelot - Memento Mori
Dream Theater - Space Dye Vest
Watching you a bunch recently and subbed, would love to hear your breakdown on "Truth" (1998 version) by Devin Townsend from the album Infinity, if you could add that to the pipeline would be amazing!
Hey man love the videos. Saw you did Mainstream A7X. Can you please do Exist or Save Me by A7X?
PLEASE check out Guthrie Govan (Erotic Cakes) - Waves!
If you watch the documentary on this album, 'I', Jason composed all of it with the help of Taylor Larson, a Grammy nominated audio engineer/producer. Theyre both absolute Gs. Jason is probably the best guitarist of this era.
Soo cool to see that older generations react and support new metal genres. Keep up the good work my man
Buddy if you're into the instrumentals i got like 45 suggestions for you but I'll start with just a few.
Polyphia - Aviator ft Jason Richardson
Scale the Summit - The Dark Horse
Divinex - Immortalize
Polyphia - Nightmare
Here's an EDM for ya:
Gunship - Cthulhu
And id love to see another Coheed reaction.
Gravity's Union
Domino the Destitute
The Crowing
I always enjoy your reacts. Keep at em.
On the subject of "Doom stuff" has there been anything from the games on the channel yet? Otherwise it's gotta be BFG Division or The Only Thing They Fear...
Hello Geebz! Could you please do - Not Unlike The Waves by AGALLOCH? It is sort of progressive folk metal mixed with post-rock, doom and black metal. Also, very tribal sounding and atmospheric. Dark and depressive, but somehow hopeful and uplifting at the same time. Strange blend, almost like life itself. Sadly, they disbanded in 2016, but their music was amazing.
Jason Richardson's albums are terribly produced. It's disgraceful that you can't hear the guitar over the other few instruments. I noticed that his current producer mixed the Within Temptation album Resist but they did NOT let him produce it. He learned absolutely NOTHING from his experience hence why he was never asked back again. This song is all noise. It's as if ChatGBT composed it. Let's throw in as many time signatures and drum fills as we can to make us look genius. They are NOT geniuses. Mozart, Beethoven, Satriani, Vai, all of Dream Theater, Daniel Gibson (producer) are geniuses. While Richardson and Holland can play to high level they have no idea how to compose to a high level. They should go back to listening to their idols Dream Theater albums to hear how every note is heard no matter what the instrument. Noise isn't music..... it will always be noise. Maybe he will cop on in a few years but thus far he creates noise.
Jason writes all of it, then Luke improves the drum parts he wrote. Jason can play many instruments, including drums.
Jason Richardson (the guitarist) started writing the piece while he was watching Hans Zimmer's masterclasses. He said in an interview I believe that he stopped watching mid episode and started figuring out the main riff (wrote it in a sequencer at first). I heard that he was really into orchestral arranging.
If you enjoyed this style of composition and around this genre of music I can't recommend enough that you should check out a guitarist by the name of Jeff Loomis. His work is breath taking. Whether it's his solo work or from his old band Nevermore.
You should also check out a guitarist by the name Keith Merrow. Both him and Jeff have done extensive work together. Even creating a project band named Conquering Dystopia.
Keith also has solo stuff. But anything from Nevermore, Jeff, and Keith are just amazing and definitely worth the listen.
Jason Richardson wrote all. Luke took care of drums. Bit, this is pretty much all Jason. i will say, watch pretty much ANYTHING from these two guys to blow your mind further.
Romans 10:10
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
You gotta do Hermann Szobel. 1976 jazz fusion album. Nephew of Bill Graham. Found it on a Rolling Stones magazine list.
Eargasm
You should react to Within the Ruins - Tractor Pull a classic from High school to me but the musicianship in that band, I still think they're way too slept on
EDIT: OR Rings of Saturn - The Husk
Luke Holland on drums is INSANE! Jason Richardson has orchestral versions of his songs! Richardson is doing all kinds of work on these songs!
Mixed & mastered by Taylor Larsen at MixWaves studio Bethesda MD.
Can I get some upvotes on getting him to review "Cosmogenesis" by GRU?
i see so many people giving you songs by these two to check out...i'm just gonna go ahead and say it...you quite literally cannot go wrong with ANYTHING they've done. these two are just ludicrous. their cover of a Lamb of God song they just did is insane.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else suggest any Deafheaven so I’ll throw them into the ring. Dream House or Honeycomb would be really fun to see you react to from a composition point of view since those songs really show the shoegaze/black metal dynamic and juxtaposition really well. Keep being awesome, Geebz 🤙🏻
Jason composed the entire thing. Luke "just" improved and tracked the drums.
I've been listening to these guys for about 3 years constantly now. They are on another level of crazy
You HAVE to check out Veil of Maya!!!! Their new song Viscera is awesome, but they have a ton of great songs. Their most popular, another awesome song, is Mikasa
Great video! Jason is amazingly good at what he does. He's so bloody good at phrasing and expression I always end up with an idiotic grin listening to his stuff. That's not even mentioning Luke, who's just as insane, as you've heard :)
Take a look at Stellar Circuits especially Nocturnal Visitor or Sleepless Goddess. Amazing newer band.
These guys did a song featuring Spencer Sotelo (the singer of Periphery) It's called Retrograde, and I think you'll dig how they sound with a vocalist as well ;)
So happy to see Luke Holland on the channel, as a drummer myself lol
I think the bass is Jason chugging the G of a 7 string and totally pinching it off, not a backing track. He is playing both parts selectively. I could be wrong.
You should react to Nothing Left by Obscure Sphinx. A little different for this channel and its a long one but truly an amazing composition I'd love to hear what you have to say about it!
Do a series on all their videos! Also the most insane example of Jason's playing recorded on video is XIV/Behold. Look that up.
Hey man. Wish you and your family the best. I wanna thank you because of your great reaction videos and I wanted to ask for a reaction. Please do a reaction to Shogun by Trivium. Cheers
Jason writes the orchestral things, he's also a pianist. If you have an hour, watch "I", a documentary about him and the creation of the album "I"
Aloha Braddah, I'm sure Jason Richardson is playing an 8 string to be able to do the bass as well as the higher octaves. his pick techniques allow him to be so versatile. AJ from Aiea 😆
Cheeeee huuu AJ, Mahalo for the info. Insane ya da bass arrangement!
@@KeyOfGeebz Anytime, I would love to see you react to Outliers from Veil of Maya. You'll be in for a treat with that song.
Please react to Abim Finger. This kid will blow you away. The top phenom player of all time. Thank me later...
Jason Richardson is doing a lot of this work, he's the guitarists. Luke is on the drums. Check out the song he just released with Tim Henson!
