- JINJER Pisces (Live Session) Napalm Records. First Alex Terrible Demolisher now Jinjer Pisces. I think I'm slowly becoming a fan of Heavy Metal. I was taken for a ride again by this one. The soothing singing at the open to BOSS BATTLE Voice right after. It's truly amazing the transition in vocals. I noticed I really liked this song while going for a walk and I kept playing it back. This is a KEEPER!

Being a lover of heavy metal, and knowing plenty of people who don't, I've seen that a lot of people find the genre and its fans intimidating. From my perspective, however, metal fans seem to be the nicest and most polite people out there! We know how to channel our negative/aggressive emotions without taking it out on others, (most of us, anyway). Glad you're enjoying our music!
I found the band Jinjer when this song was making its rounds a while back. It really is her voice. Teacher Teacher is another good one from them.
I absolutely love watching people actually sit down and listen to metal music. because when you listen rather than just hear, you have no choice but to understand. The truth is that understanding will bring us all together. Whether we agree or not, no longer matters, because we understand and with that come respect. This was awesome and I love it, keep it up bro.

I think you'll find that metal fans are very patient with anyone who is open-minded enough to listen. There are/were many "metal virgins" reaction channels (The Charismatic Voice, Julia Nilon, Alex Hefner, Too Lit Mafia, Key of Geebs, etc.) on youtube and they all slowly come around and discover incredible diversity in sounds and musicianship, and the awesome thing is it makes their communities all the more happy for it. Welcome to the flock my friend!
Kudos to your open-mindedness. I think Jinjer is the right way to be eased into metal, to avoid being overwhelmed and repulsed instinctively. There's also a little detail of them being so super dope. At least in my book. Also good of you to keep an eye on the lyrics, you won't find a Jinjer song without meaningful bars.

Great reaction, and welcome to the Jinjer world. The band members could use a lot of support and love these days. Tatiana, and I beleve two of the band members, are from Donbass in Ukraina. They had to flee from their homes when the war started in East Ukraina in 2014. And now Russia is threatening to bomb and invade their home again. Its horrible, and they have all our support, love and sympathy.

Perennial live at Wacken truly shows her range n switches. The crazy thing only the drummer is classically trained but in piano. Everyone else is self taught and they are f'n amazing. Saw them in October and they sound just as amazing in person. Tatiana's stage presence is ungodly

Maria Brink is my other favorite voice. Totally different from Tatiana and Jinjer but great all the same. I'd personally start with Whore because of the great message and fun song. The Fighter is omg soooo beautiful, lots more great stuff. Incidentally Jinjer is opening for ITM and Slipknot for one of the 2 monts of Knotfest shows in the US and Canada this spring.

Another Jinjer Pisces reaction I haven't seen yet! :) Me and a few others make a hobby of watching reactions to this song :) A few tidbits I've learned about Tatiana and the band: "Heavy Vocals" a.k.a. the growl utilises a different part of the throat - the part that we use to make a heave sound (when you lift something heavy, for example). It took Tatiana 12 years to train her growl this way. But this is how she can switch cleanly between the two styles. Another bit of info: This video was made to highlight their new drummer Vlad, who has had no formal training in drums - he is a classically trained pianist who taught himself so he could play in Jinjer. A great one to prove she's actually making that noise is Perennial Live at Wacken. Welcome to Jinjer!

Tatiana is her name. They are from Ukraine. She is self taught and in my opinion one of the most talented vocalist in the world. When she writes her lyrics she writes them in her language and then translates them to English. They do not make any bad music and i have a whole list of songs i could recommend you to but ill just give you one for now. Perennial live at wacken , their live performances are more enjoyable to watch than their music videos and they sound just as good if not better

I agree. Pineapple on pizza is great. Jinjer is great. Some of the older Jinjer fans talks shit about their later albums, as they have become more progressive, but I like it. Great reaction and great attitude! So much amazing music out there that people never hear because they limit themselves to 'genres'.
As for categorising 'metal', don't worry, even die-hard metalheads often argue about what box to put some bands in.
Tatiana (and all the other 'growl' artists) use a vocal technique that employs 'false cords' rather than the vocal cords we use to speak/sing. It's the same principle Tibetan Monks use for throat singing/chanting. Tati just happens to be particularly adept at it and also has a great set of pipes for traditional singing too.
As others have said, the band are awesome live. I got to see them a couple of years ago and it was one of the best gigs I've ever seen, and I'm a really old fart who's been to 100's over the years.

I really love to see people experiencing metal for the first time, I kind of relive the joy and astonishment I had when first "getting it" like +20 years ago (it was Opeth's "Still Life" album back then for me).

Lots of different metals styles out there. I am not really a fan of the "Cookie Monster" growling stuff. I prefer cleaner vocals.
One of the best female singers (if not THE best) is Floor Jansen from Nightwish. Their performance of "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken Open Air in 2013 is perhaps the best I have witnessed anywhere in my 55+ years on this rock. Would love to see what you think of it.

in my honest opinion, the BEST song they have is Sit, Stay, Roll Over...all of the power and rage, combined with her cleans (the mellower vocals) throughout the song is absolutely amazing, plus the video is awesome as well, but im super-glad you found this one, its a banger too and totally showcases Tatiana's voice.

I really like your statement from 5:25 to 6:25! This is exactly the point. Trying to listen to other people's favourite music, being open and giving it an unbiased chance to let you understand what it is about and what the other people like about their music is the best way to tolerate each other - and in some cases the best way to find something new for yourself, something that appeals to a side you might not even have known existed within yourself.
Also, I've experienced the metal community as one of the kindest, most peaceful and positive folks I've ever been with. I've been to Wacken Open Air here in Germany, experiencing most aggressive music with 80.000 people shouting, jumping, shoving each other - but as soon as someone falls down, there's immediately a protective circle of people helping the fallen up and asking if he/she is okay.
In my view and experience, much of listening to this type of music is on the one hand about getting into the adrenaline rush we sometimes desire and on the other hand about having a way to experience or to work on emotions like anger and aggression without destructive behavior. I don't scream myself, instead I listen to music that screams.
Furthermore, a lot of metal music is just great and the musicians of many great metal bands are ultra skilled and talented with their instruments. Tatiana is of course an overwhelming presence and experience to witness when you listen to Pisces for the first time. But if you listen to the song again, you'll notice how deeply impressively the other band members are mastering their instruments.
The very first lyrics of my very first metal song I ever listened to were "This is a journey into sound." (Anthrax, sound of white noise), and boy were they right! I'm really happy for you to dare going on this very special journey with us. Welcome, brother, welcome, friend! :-)
