    Great tips! My 4 year old son Goes to Tamarac Nature Center for preschool. They tapped a tree last week and are learning how make syrup. He was telling me how to identify a maple tree.

    And then there is a cheater's way...an android app called PlantNet. Amazingly accurate ID based on leaf, fruit, nut, or bark by taking a photo that is compared to the university database.
