@@StiltbeastStudios Picture my friend years ago with many short term jobs as mascots, Easter Bunny, etc.: Barely any vision, hot air breathing up against material and foam, hot and humid and weight on his head.
Two things that you can always be for sure of is that Allen sees a vision that we do not see and only he is privy to that and the next thing you can be for sure of is that he makes it look so easy. It's incredible. My favorite part was the dremeling because that's where the dragon mask became alive and so detailed for me
Awesome video as always, I really love making masks and helmets from eva foam floor mats and craft foam sheets. Really sturdy and lightweight so it's pretty much the perfect material for this craft.
Your skills are exceptional. All those years involved in your industry have certainly paid off. For the time you have put into this it looks fantastic. Thanks for the demonstration and sharing your vast knowledge.
I sat watching this video transfixed by your skill in turning flat EVA into an awesome-looking dragon mask! I can't imagine how long it would take me to make something even half as good as that given all day to do it! Outstanding Sir, outstanding! 🍻🤘💜
I love your videos but I really REALLY wish you hadn't sped it up. Besides hearing your explanations I also enjoy watching your process in creating. Sped up it was too difficult for my old eyes to follow 🥺👩🦳
Unreal man. Very impressed with your speed and your God given abilities. Did you even look at anything for reference? Love the "no measuring" thing. Special thanks for showing the base creation of the mask. And, I will never give you crap for how and why you paint things Obi-Hopps-Kenobi...lol. 2 hours is insane...I've been in bathroom longer at times. A tad surprised you didn't use Rosco Flexbond instead of contact cement. I see lots use that prior to painting on EVA. Great work, and, as always thank you. 🤘💀
I haven’t even watched the video yet. I’m sure it’s great like all your other videos and I’ll watch it right away but I came here to say the thumbnail is 10/10 and made me laugh audibly out loud while alone which is very hard to do. So, thank you. Have a great day!
Since the backside of the foam piece looks like scales, could you make the "fin pieces" and the back with the rough side showing?? This is so unique and life-like. I have not seen anyone else do something like this. You are very talented. I'm going to attempt this for my grandson- he loves dragons and dinosaurs.
the back side is a pattern called diamond plate, its too recognizable to be used that side out. but yes, many people see a flat material and dont thing they can make organic things with it. its remarkable.
This was so amazing. It makes me want to mess with this material so bad but I already have a list of projects a mile long to get to which I already have the supplies for. Its going on the bucket list though. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope your recovery goes as smooth as possible. ... I feel awkward taking this on but Im hoping someone looking through the comments might be able to help. I have a styrofoam head I want to customize some. I do! Im not sure what size you want them to be, but watch my snakes video. Thats a pretty good method just use the eel head shape. I normally start with the profile of the head and build it out from there. what size eels are you talking about?
He used a foam head. Since it doesn’t have to be perfectly sized (just large enough to fit and stay comfortably on your head), perhaps something like that would be a sufficient base to form around?
this mask is for people who wear glasses- depends on the design but leave as much open air as possible for them. you cant do slenderman but there are tons of things you can do under those design constraints.
Hope you get better quick, boss!!Neato Frito Bandito!! When you were in the early part of the video before paint and hot glue design, i was thinking how cool the piece would be as a knight's helmet too, done in dull Zink or rusted efffect!!

Allen, first off… You are awesome! Or other people binge watch Netflix or Hulu I binge watch you! I have a question, I recently toured a play in downtown Chicago. I am visually impaired so it was a part of A hands-on tour for people with disabilities. They showed us a Mask that was made out of scrum of a skull was painted on it. It was obviously put over a bust and then painted and the eyes stayed black that they could see out but you cannot see in. Have you seen this technique before? And if so could you featuring on one of your shows. It was super super cool looking. Thanks Allen😊

I did not use or make a pattern. foam is cheap I recommend making some basic shapes and getting familiar, then when you need to make something you just break it into Half circle, cone etcetera. I started with the jaw and went from there.

most just use a black fabric, but that does not work well in low light situations, so I use black vinyl window screen.
