    i like watching your video's but i would like to see the item at the start of videos to see what your making instead of having to go to the end and see it

      It's a smart move not to show you in the beginning, because if you don't like the product, you aren't going to watch the video.

      Then if I don't like what you've made it makes me think you've just wasted my time and I'm far less likely to watch another video. Nobody watches woodworking videos on RUclips for the mystery of what you're making. Like right now I know I'm never going to make one of these and I feel like I've just wasted 3 minutes of my time and probably won't watch another, where as had I known what you were making from the start I would have probably not clicked on the video but I would check out other things you've made. Now I probably won't knowing that I'll need to watch the entire video before I find out what you're making and it's just a waste of time for me.

      @@Butcherbirdwoodworkingand how long did you waste on you comment. These people do these videos to earn some cash, imagine how many minutes they waste to get their videos perfect for us? Drink a coffee or a beer and relax and watch, otherwise if it’s a waste of time for you stay off such channels or even YT completely…..and don’t so so selfish, geez it’s entertainment,,,, I’m off to see what your channel has to offer
      Edit, now there’s a thing you have nothing to offer🙄

      These sell on Etsy. I pay for a reporting tool that gives me sales data for shops and items. I try and only do videos on items that actually sell. There's a whole world of shoppers out there with a variety of tastes. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

    I make some really gorgeous flower planter boxes and I can't get $40 for them. If I had a dollar for all the compliments I have had on them I wouldn't have to sell them When I try and sell them on facebook it's like I'm invisible. I have around $22 in materials and a little over two and a half hours of my time invested and people look at me like i'm nuts when I ask $40. The whole experience has soured me on woodworking.

    Does glue stick to stained wood?

    • @RonniesWorkshop
      @RonniesWorkshop  2 месяца назад

      Not as good as to bare wood, that's for sure. If you're going to want a uniform stain you have to be sure there is no glue residue on the wood beforehand. Stain won't penatrate the glue and you get blotchy spots. Fortunately for me, I mainly build rustic pieces and those kind of results are part of the charm of the look. Although, I do try and minimize it where I can.

    And AC cost? Glue cost?

  • @lancekoller5284
    @lancekoller5284 2 месяца назад

    OK, I've never attempted using wood glue on a stained piece. How can it penetrate the wood to be of any structural use?

    • @RonniesWorkshop
      @RonniesWorkshop  2 месяца назад

      Definitely not as effective as glueing bare wood together, but for this it worked fine. The stain was still wet so I wonder if that had any effect. From Titebond's website... "It may be possible that some of our glues may work for gluing together painted or stained surfaces". Not a ringing endorsement for glueing stained wood for sure, but again, I tried pulling this project apart with my hands and it didn't budge. Since you say you've never tried it, use a couple of scraps and give it a shot and see what you think.

      @RonniesWorkshop try Weldbond on painted and stained wood. It works great for me and dries clear. Give it a shot.

      Some wood stains are porous, so the glue bonds as usual, and then you put a finish on after assembly.

    Very cool idea. How come you didn't prestain seal the wood??? I would like to hear your thoughts on this process as its been a debate for me for a while.

      I don't when I'm doing rustic pieces, which are mostly what I build to sell. Just personal preference. Try it out both ways and see what works best for you.

    Very interesting!
    Just wanted to let you know i have received some replies from someone using your name but it's about a crypto scam. You can probably see it on the community posts or in the comments from the previous videos. I hope you can do something about it and warn the rest of the community as well. Thank you! 🙂
