@@DonaldTrumpFree not sure. But if I did, a part 2 would probably show how Phoenix worked behind the scenes with Lana and the others to establish the mason system or something

You did great with this, you nailed Hobo Phoenix's personality especially. I was thrown off by the use of Veteran Phoenix during the flashback scene of him showing his badge to Lana, but it didn't ruin the video by any means. Just kinda funny. If you want something more fitting to use for those time periods though, here's a witness code for the DD DLC outfit where Phoenix has his Trilogy outfit. IHACIX (No idea who made it unfortunately) Probably the closest thing we'll get to an "official" Trilogy Phoenix as a witness.
@@debastiansebeste You're welcome, I was looking for a Trilogy Phoenix witness recently when I thought about the DD DLC outfit, and sure enough, it worked great for the purpose. Happy to share.
A whole fangame could be made with your what-if scenarios. They're so well-made and manage to accomplish everything that Capcom doesn't want to do. Though I always had one question about the whole situation with Phoenix. If Kristoph was the one who gave Trucy the forged page, why didn't Phoenix just ask her who handed it to her? Maybe she described him as a "blonde man with a badge", and since both Klavier and Kristoph look kinda similar, she couldn't say for sure which one of them was. Which would explain why Phoenix was suspicious of Kristoph from the beginning. Then Lana, Angel and Jake could start with that lead and investigate the Gavin brothers in secret the following years. Just an idea I wanted to give you.
I'm afraid the reason Phoenix didn't question the forged evidence Trucy gave him, was the same reason Zak hid the magic rights page from him and then proceeded to abandon Trucy. It was all so Phoenix would get disbarred at all means necessary. In this case the purpose led the script, and I wasn't a big fan of the way it played out tbh
@@debastiansebeste True, I'm not a big fan of that either. Though I meant why didn't Phoenix just ask her *after* the trial. He literally adopted her, so he would've had all the time in the world. Which is where my theory comes to play; she couldn't say for sure if it was Klavier or Kristoph, which is also why Kristoph didn't vote against Phoenix and actually sided with him, to throw suspicion off him. Then once they became friends and started hanging out, he could've insinuated that "yeah, it was probably my brother, it was his first trial and he would've done anything to win, including forging evidence, but there's not much I can do about it I'm afraid". And Phoenix would've suspected he was lying, especially considering he was starting to learn about nervous twitches and the like from Trucy. Sorry for the wall of text lmao
This was a thing of beauty. "Rise from the Ashes" always felt so detatched from the rest of the canon and you tie it in to the interlude before the main events of AJ and the void after AAI2 brilliantly. This feels... playable, even. I want this case. (And 12:44 sus. Can't let this get _too_ sappy.)
@@debastiansebeste iKiwied had a pretty great crossover between the two fandoms a few years back. Both of our games are detective stories with brightly colored characters and an above-average representation of serial murder. Amogus is Ace Attorney in Space in the far-flung future.
Makes sense it would be detached from canon, RftA was a completely new case for the DS port of Ace Attorney so there weren’t even any references to it for the rest of the trilogy until they brought her back in AJ.
This is amazing, only gripe I have with it is that I'm not sure Phoenix and Trucy live in the Wright Talent Agency. I always assumed they lived where Phoenix lived during his attorney years.
I had a gripe about that one too tbh. But since the games never gave us even a glimpse of Phoenix's real house, I safely decided to turn Mia's office into Phoenix's eternal lair :p
Considering Detective Gumshoe was involved in the case that lead to Phoenix's disbarment.....yes he probably feels like in some small form, he played a part in that too so definitely hope you include him in a part 2 of this.
Well this was an excellent watch. I get that the events of Rise From the Ashes is a mixed bag of a case and Ema was the only character from that case to return in future installments, but it was refreshing to see Lana again and great to see her development from that case come through due to her wanting to help Phoenix. I also enjoyed seeing her interact with Ema, Edgeworth, Angel, and even Blaise (who I admittedly always enjoy seeing in these videos since you write for him so well). It also kinda makes sense that Emma’s disdain for Klavier started after that trial, which I believe was implied in Apollo Justice. Great video as always!
I love how this story goes and would be super happy to see it continue! This whole thing seems like it's building to the backstory and development of the Mason System!
The funny thing is, I wasn't even thinking about the mason system while writing the vid (just that "yeah more of Lana and everyone helping Phoenix"), but it would make absolute sense if it was a mason system backstory xD

True. Was disappointed to see that not a single person came to his aid in Apollo Justice except for Ema. I mean, where the hell did Edgeworth, Gumshoe and Franziska go? xD
Similar to how Zak would pointlessly keep a bunch of secrets from his attorney and then abandon his daughter Weird guys, the bunch of Turnabout Succession :p
@@debastiansebeste I mean TBF in Apollo Justice the only person we see him interacting is Apollo and as far as Phoenix is concerned nobody outside his circle of friends would believe him that he didn't forge evidence, so it makes sense that he would go "You know what? Sure I forged it, whatever" and even in the MASON System the only person that interacts with him that doesn't know about the Forgery stuff is Valant, who clearly does believe him (Trucy knows she handed him the page, Zak knows he couldn't have forged it, the Mishams were responsible for the forgery, Kristoph was the one that set him up and pretty much all but rubs it in his face) and the others he talk to (Menkins and Brushel) doesn't have anything to do with it, so like it, it makes sense why he acts the way he does when we plays as Apollo
@@blastthechaos6083 true. And even when it comes to his friends, it's funny how in Apollo Justice Edgeworth, Maya and Franziska magically disappear, so there's no one left to openly support Phoenix's innocence xD

I love all of your content with Blaise Debeste in it, you always write him in a way that always makes him a fun character! When Edgeworth mentioned that the Bar Association was responsible for Phoenix's disbarment I almost thought we might get a scene of Lana confronting Kristoph, maybe you could do that for a future video?
There has been an influx of comments asking for a LanaVKristoph, so tbh I'm slowly getting hyped about it too xD I'm not sure when, but I'll mostly probably make a part 2 of this vid in the future, where the 3 detectives work to help Phoenix establish the mason system and confront Kristoph. We'll see, fellow Blaise Debeste enjoyer 😉
Since we never got to see Miles in AJ for ourselves, it would definitely be in-character that he'd KNOW Phoenix was set up, so I'm glad to see it. Even if he really can't do anything about it himself, it's always good to know everyone's favorite prosecutor is still in his -boy- friend's corner. Having Lana offer them both the much-needed help and also rounding up her old squad should hopefully put Kristoph's entire plot in the _ground!_

@@Ryu_Naru I had found that objection randomly on the server 1-2 years ago to the point where I didn't even remember whose objection it was. Thanks for reminding me mate
This What-If scenario is brilliantly well done. Stories like this are truly amazing, bringing the aspects of the aftermath, the prologue, the epilogue, and everything else. Honestly, words cannot even describe how amazing all of this is. If anything, we need more story based plots that could potentially be canon based on the events that took place beforehand or after.
Don't worry, the events won't unfold that differently from the canon stuff. After all, we don't know who helped Phoenix uncover Kristoph's scheme behind the scenes ;)

Can wait for next video Also I have a question Have you played TGAA2 yet?
Fully agree with your AJ points. I am also not that fond of how everything simply happened, in order to lead to Phoenix's disbarment. Unfortunately I haven't managed to finish TGAA2 yet. As for case 3 so far, I haven't delved deep enough into it but I have died laughing a couple times with Herlock's waxwork shenanigans xD
If I recall correctly, Ema has actually stated in canon that she hates Klavier not just because of his pretentiousness but also because she always considered him responsible for Wright's disbarment, which pissed her off
@@debastiansebeste I stand corrected. She actually did. So even better job on your part pertaining research. Your fic demonstrated the how, the why, and the "how it started" with her thought process of holding Klavier responsible for Wright's disbarment.

Been watching many of your works, lot of them great, just started this series and I'm looking up for it, let's just say this part of the history kinda hits a nerve haha
If you do end up making this into the mason system backstory, then Edgeworth's involvement makes complete sense! It totally lines up with what he said at the end of investigations 2. Wanting to change the Law and fix its flaws to help people. And what more motivation would he need then to help out his best friend? The Mason system is a step in the direction for his ambitions.
6:16 To yet again quote @lucahjin : "Look at this badge!" You cannot escape Lucahjin! She has engrained the "Look at this badge" joke into our brains and the series. Phoenix, Mia, Edgeworth, Apollo, Athena- everyone has presented "The Badge" at this point. Phoenix- AA, JFA, T&T, DD, SOJ Mia- T&T Edgeworth- T&T, AAI1, AAI2 Apollo- AJ:AA, DD, SOJ Athena- DD, SOJ We know it'll happen in SOJ and then when Rise does TGAAC, Ryunosuke will show "The Badge", too. Given the subs' reception and me wondering about it too, I may explore the mason system in the future too. Not sure when or if, but it's still an interesting thing. Since you're like a master at these videos, I've got many ideas for a video. One of them being a Justice for all scenario. ((JFA Spoilers)) What if Von Karma never barged into the courtroom in the last case to basically save Phoenix Wright from making the choice to either say Engarde is guilty or not?
Hmm. So a potential bad ending to the case. I've been told about doing bad endings to other cases as well before, so I may explore that concept someday because it's quite interesting ngl
@@debastiansebeste I think it would be interesting to instead go for the "Phoenix declares Engarde Guilty even it it leads to Maya's death" since we already saw so much of the other one.

My bad if that one came off as malicious-looking. Edgeworth wasn't accusing Klavier of anything in a negative light, he was just mentioning the fact that Klavier did trap Phoenix to expose the forgery
@@debastiansebeste ah, I'm guessing Phoenix didn't tell him he didn't prepare this himself and he was tricked into doing so...or he did and Edgeworth just agreed to not say it to anyone on Phoenix's request

Thanks. There's a big number of custom objection voices that have been voiced by several fans. Some of them are already used on characters (like Angel Starr's). Some are gathered in a Drive folder, while others are scattered around the OL discord server. Lana's objection was such a case that I randomly found when searching old posts I just love the effort the AA fandom is putting in this tbh
I like this what-if, and I would have liked it if that could have been considered canon honestly. But I noticed a few things that contradicts the games and I wonder if these are mistakes or if these two things that I noted were changed on purpose. (It's probably on purpose but I just wanna make sure ^^) First, I wonder about Ema being here while she's not supposed to know about Phoenix's loss of his badge. I mean, in the Apollo justice game, you do learn from her that she only learned about him losing his badge when she returned and became a detective (if you try talking to her in the park without having her trust yet, she says "Back after 10 years and they wont even give me the position I requested... And then I learn that he gave up the defense attorney life..."). And there's another thing i'm confused about. Why is Edgeworth already chief prosecutor here ? I mean, when it's revealed in dual destinies that he became chief prosecutor, it is mentioned that it was one year ago, which means he became chief prosecutor at some point during the Apollo Justice game. I'm guessing you made him chief prosecutor earlier to make it easier to bring back the three detectives ?
About Ema, I made her learn it earlier to give her more early role in the story. Her not learning about Phoenix's predicament until much later always struck me as weird, so I decided to change that As for the Chief Prosecutor part, both Lana and Edgeworth explicitly mention that he's now a "district Chief Prosecutor", which is a role with much less authority than "the" Chief Prosecutor (it's the actual position Lana Skye held in the original japanese script, as she was actually not a Chief Prosecutor in the same manner as Blaise Debeste and Edgeworth, but a "District Chief Prosecutor"). I simply decided to take that lower rank role and give it to Edgeworth for the needs of this story, but still he's not a Chief Prosecutor here (and doesn't become one until the end of the full series). Tbh I was hoping this was made clear in the vid :p
@@debastiansebeste Oh, I never realized there were two different chief prosecutor ranks... why did they put the same name to two different ranks ? That is so confusing ^^' And to be honest I play in french, except the Sholmes one which was never translated in my language, and the edgeworth games which were just NOW released in my language with the remake and I remember Debeste but I don't remember much about the big plot anyway, thanks for clarifing it for me.
I suggest that you should probably make a video about Phoenix meeting Iris or Gumshoe after he gets disbarred or after he passed the bar exam again. I want to see a spiritual successor (of sorts) to this video. P.S. I have been enjoying your stuff. It feels like they could be canonical.

This was so well-made, congrats for this one, Sebeste. I still have questions given I suck at Ace Attorney lore. Is it actually said anywhere in any game that it would be either Lana, Angel, Jake or the three of them who'd have investigated the circumstances of Wright's disbarment ? Does anything at all point at it anywhere ? Because if so, it would make a LOT OF SENSE that the case they appear in is literally called "Rise from the Ashes", as in, I mean, do I really have to explain the analogy... Phoenix has fallen and they help him stand back up, help him rise from the ashes, quite rightly, that's just the cherry on top ! And I don't wanna believe that that's just a coincidence which is why I ask, does all of this really only cope from you or does anything point at it ? What do the games say, Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies ? Isn't there anything ?
This is normally spoilers but I assume you have no problem. Unfortunately, Lana, Angel Starr and Jake Marshall never appear and are never even mentioned again in any of the next games following Rise from the Ashes. Even Ema has never even mentioned her sister's name. The only reference is in SoJ (I think), when Phoenix sees Ema and thinks to himself "I defended her sister a long time ago". :( The reason I placed those 3 to help Phoenix was because I made the what if in this sense: "If Lana Skye was released after Phoenix's disbarment she'd do her best to help him. And she'd try find help from her old detective partners".
@@debastiansebeste and that made such perfect sense I dont understand Capcom themselves didnt think of it. well, if they did, they never mentioned it. a shame because it all connects so well !

@@debastiansebeste iKiwied had a pretty great crossover between the two fandoms a few years back. Both of our games are detective stories with brightly colored characters and an above-average representation of serial murder. Amogus is Ace Attorney in Space in the far-flung future.
@@normanclatcher I know, I loved those cute crewmate sprites in AA style
@@debastiansebeste Anime did provide a vague clue: an apartment unit.
Considering Detective Gumshoe was involved in the case that lead to Phoenix's disbarment.....yes he probably feels like in some small form, he played a part in that too so definitely hope you include him in a part 2 of this.
This is the definition of yoysome.
This is a very good vid! Lana deserves freedom and more! :D
Damn right she does! Give her back to us Capcom! 😤
Glad to hear someone appreciated Blaise's scene 😁 I just love that lovably despicable dude so much I gotta connect him with everything xD
Objection! Meekins also returned in 4-4.

It would have been amazing to see those that Wright helped come back to help him when he was at his lowest.
True. Was disappointed to see that not a single person came to his aid in Apollo Justice except for Ema. I mean, where the hell did Edgeworth, Gumshoe and Franziska go? xD
I can see Phoenix would rather have people believe he's a fraud and a fake that ever want to let anyone help him
Similar to how Zak would pointlessly keep a bunch of secrets from his attorney and then abandon his daughter
Weird guys, the bunch of Turnabout Succession :p

This is about AJ in general
The dissbarment has so many problems, it is actually very funny
Firstly why NO ONE questions the klavier validity about knowing about the fake evidence?
Why isnt phoenix fighting for his innocence?
Phoenix is not THAT dumb without thinking that we will present fake evidence
And etc
At least we have you trying to fix this bullshit of a plot
I hate AJ that it does not explain what happened in those 7 years.

Also I have a question
Have you played TGAA2 yet?
Fully agree with your AJ points. I am also not that fond of how everything simply happened, in order to lead to Phoenix's disbarment.

Is it possible to do Iris’s parole
I like this what-if, and I would have liked it if that could have been considered canon honestly. But I noticed a few things that contradicts the games and I wonder if these are mistakes or if these two things that I noted were changed on purpose. (It's probably on purpose but I just wanna make sure ^^)
First, I wonder about Ema being here while she's not supposed to know about Phoenix's loss of his badge.
Her not learning about Phoenix's predicament until much later always struck me as weird, so I decided to change that
As for the Chief Prosecutor part, both Lana and Edgeworth explicitly mention that he's now a "district Chief Prosecutor", which is a role with much less authority than "the" Chief Prosecutor (it's the actual position Lana Skye held in the original japanese script, as she was actually not a Chief Prosecutor in the same manner as Blaise Debeste and Edgeworth, but a "District Chief Prosecutor").
That is so confusing ^^'

Idk if I said this before but Capcom should hire you!
You honor me mate 😁
The reason I placed those 3 to help Phoenix was because I made the what if in this sense: "If Lana Skye was released after Phoenix's disbarment she'd do her best to help him. And she'd try find help from her old detective partners".
@@debastiansebeste and that made such perfect sense I dont understand Capcom themselves didnt think of it. well, if they did, they never mentioned it. a shame because it all connects so well ! I guess mentioning who did the work of taking Phoenix out of the mess he was in didn't really matter enough story-wise...
10:42 why is that darklaw?
Because it fits Lana even better than Darklaw herself xD
It’s a really good video however I must add that as per the wiki Edgeworth is not the Chief Prosecutor until late 2026 around Ace Attorney Apollo Justice
Oh I know that. He's not chief prosecutor in this video yet. He's "district chief prosecutor". As Edgeworth mentions in 9:33, it's a position with less authority than Lana's chief prosecutor one ;)
@@debastiansebeste lana was only district chief prosecutor, she wasn't actually the chief of the country, i believe that was actually a translation error (it should have said "head" or "district" in game)
@@casinoswordfish I know I know, I've read about the mistranslation of the localisation, but I decided to roll with her being Chief Prosecutor instead, as it fits well for some stuff I liked (we can have her be the Chief Prosecutor who was forced to order Phoenix's arrest under Redd White's orders, and I also wanted Blaise Debeste to tease her as the Chief Prosecutor before her :p
@@debastiansebeste the only weird thing is I don't think gant would be able to get her that high on the ranks (maybe like the PIC could though idk)
@@casinoswordfish who knows, maybe Gant was in cahoots with Blaise Debeste. Anything is possible (as long as it makes sense with the rest of the lore)
I guess that possibility is worth exploring someday
W-wait! Is Ema really older than Klavier!?
Probably yes. According to wiki, Ema was born somewhere on 2000-2001 while Klavier was born on 2001-2002
@@debastiansebeste That feels... Weird.
Is almost the same situation as Regina, Kay, and Sebastian being older that Nahyuta.
@@k.n2574 lmao true. At least tbf we met Kay, Sebastian and Regina more than 9 years before we met Nahyuta
