I've always felt that there probably must've been some kind of mechanic in this universe where people who have only recently died cannot be summoned because they're still in-transit to the afterlife. Because of that, Spirit mediums are all but useless to the overly fast justice system, which eventually led to a distrust of Spirit Mediums ingrained in courtroom culture. Phoenix also can't ask Maya to channel the victim so he can instantly find out the killer for his own investigational benefit either, because almost every case he's taken the victim died within 3 days prior. Mia would be the exception as a result of her being a Spirit Medium herself, and Gregory Edgeworth was only able to be channeled because it took so long for the police to agree to accept her help, which they only did after the case all but went cold.

the court doesn't really have to accept it, from their POV, it could very well a trick from the defense to change appearance and pretend to be the deceased victim

I always thought it was odd to see Mia never use spirit channeling in court, I mean that would be a practical, 'I Win' button as long as the client was not guilty.
To be fair, I think the whole DL-6 incident is a pretty good precedent on why spirit channeling isn't the instant win it could be. Gregory passed out in his final moments, so he had no idea if Miles fired off the shot that killed him, and even if he did, he would've "protected Miles" by saying it was Yanni Yogi. Of course, this is ignoring the fact that von Karma was the true culprit, and he would have never known. Not to say they haven't brought up the idea, it's the basis behind Cases 1, 3, and 5 in Spirit of Justice. The dead are giving testimony, but they're either lying, being inconsistent, or have been manipulated in a way that what they remember isn't the full truth.
from a legal standpoint, it doesn't really ensure a fair trial if a ghost can come and run riot in a courtroom. You can't just say no to a ghost, so they could commit as much perjury as they want and say whoever they want did it with no evidence. That's hardly fair for the accused, you can't just say the victim isn't right. You also have the DLC incident, where a ghost didn't actually know who killed them. That's incredibly unfair.
This was some quality Ace Attorney content. Valerie’s sprites look clean and HD as anything. I also really like how you characterize her here. We didn’t get too much characterization in the original case, considering she was a victim and all, but I enjoyed seeing her personality and how she interacted with Dahlia, Edgeworth, and Terry.
@@debastiansebeste Could you make a Video of *Cece* Yew one day? I mean, she was pretty much underrated. Not only was she a victim who hadn't any sprites, she wasn't even listed on the Profiles. And even in "All Ace Attorney Characters" Tier Lists, where characters from the Trilogy, Investigations 1&2, 2nd Trilogy, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1&2 and the Crossover, appear, including repeats and even animals, her picture isn't there. Considering she was the one who was the first KG-8 victim, she definitely deserves more attention. 😊 At least, she has much space for interpretation. I could very well imagine her having a crush on Miles Edgeworth on their first and only meeting, but he is totally clueless. And I would like if Cece met her fake sister, and Calisto screws up big time when she reveals her role to Cece, but doesn't recognize her (maybe they would both fight about Miles, but that would be just the cherry on the cake). 😁

She hasn't appeared in the anime and we only got her black n white mugshot. And since I'm a sucker for having every character in a video appear normally with sprites, I don't think I can make it happen :(

Her laughter proves her to be a Tsundere (very high level), and when you consider the distance, she shot on purpose in a way that wouldn't hit Edgeworth. If only she could refer to him as "Mr. Edgeworth" instead of "Edgeworth"... she might have had a chance with him if she was polite enough to add "Mr." ... 😆 Now imagine the whole case if she refered to him as "Miles" ('-chan' in the Japanese Version) 😆 The Troll percentage of this case would be higher than it is already. 😁 (Please let her ask him out in a respecting way ("Miles"/"Mr. Edgeworth") on a date in one of your videos, I ship them... for some reason 😆... but there are far more weird shippings 😆😆😆)

He would still be a lawyer, it would just take him a few extra years, as it is not his main focus. Because Wright wouldn't be a lawyer yet, Edgeworth wouldn't've had a defence for Turnabout Goodbyes meaning he'd be in jail. For Wright, there'd be no point to keep studying. His first inspiration is gone, and his second never happened.

Something I'm realizing is so many things would not have happened had the trial gone this way. Phoenix doesn't meet Mia or Maya presumably, Diego doesn't become Godot, and Turnabout Reunion and Bridge to the Turnabout wouldn't happen in the same way.

That's not a bad idea at all. It's really funny, because we actually have sprites for Ini Miney, but not for Mimi because of changing her face to look like her sister xD
So, if Mia had channeled Valerie...I can only imagine what would happen next. The Fey Family's reputation wouldn't be completely exonerated, but it would be a start. Dahlia would never have been able to poison Diego, Spirit Channeling would no longer be so harshly looked down upon, and Valerie could meet her father and *maybe* have forgiveness. Wait, but wouldn't this mean Mia would never meet Phoenix due to Dahlia being punished five years earlier?

Great video once again! Love the Valorie sprites I will say though, it would be cool if you did something that told us the story of what happened because of this result years down the line. For example with this video, Phoenix wouldn’t be meeting dahlia and/or Iris in this scenario. Doug Swallow would be alive which means Phoenix wouldn’t have gone to trial and learn how to become a lawyer because of it. Unless you were planning on making a part 2, wouldn’t that kinda help wrap the story for this particular instance? I think that would help having the video end in a nice conclusion
Well, I thought about it, but tbh I'm not much a "search how the whole AU would unfold afterwards" type of writer. I generally believe in the butterfly effect, so the fact that Dahlia could have been convicted at this point early in the timeline could cause huge changes that I can't really predict. Hell, even Phoenix might have ended up not becoming a defense attorney at all, or he did for some whole different reason, which is unpredictable as he never even mer Dahlia at this point. In other words, a change like that so early causes infinite parameters to change, so I can't bring myself to explore the whole AU afterwards :p
@@debastiansebeste If it were me, it would probably be smart that if you were try to do this, only focus on how the main characters affected would be changed. So Mia, Armando, and Dahlia. Those would probably be the big 3 in this case.

Hey Debastian Sebeste, that was a pretty good video, i hope to see part 2 of this if it gets a continuation. Also speaking of DL-6 this video made me think it would be a cool “what if” video would be what if the police asked Rayfa Padma Khura’in to do a Divination Seance for Gregory Edgeworth, now obviously it wouldn’t work because he was unconscious at the time of his death but I would like to see the characters reactions the effects and the aftermath of the failed Divination Seance. Also Mael Stronghart in Great Ace Attorney said that Tobias Gregson was dead and that unless Naruhodo and Asogi could summon Gregson’s ghost to the stand to testify, it is nothmg but hearsay. Imagine if Mia, Maya or Pearl fey somehow ended up in that time period and channeled Tobias Gregson, it would be interesting for him to implicate Stronghart as the masterind. That or Klint van Zieks.
I'm afraid Rayfa was born 11 years after Gregory Edgeworth's death, so she wouldn't be able to produce a seance for him at least 20 years later. Plus, Gregory Edgeworth was unconscious when he died, so the seance wouldn't be able to show anything. As for Gregson, I do want to make a vid about him eventually, but making the Feys time travel to the past to channel him is kinda too much xD

YOOOO, that would have been so cool if this happened! Like, how many things would be different given the alternate timeline? Terry would still be alive (maybe in prison, but not dead), Armando wouldn't have been poisoned by Dahlia, so he never enters the coma. Then Simon Swallows wouldn't have been killed, Phoenix wouldn't have been on trial for murder and met Mia, Phoenix might never have become a defense attorney... With that information, Mia might not have been killed (if Armando got to her in time like in your other video), Maya wouldn't have gone on trial, who knows what would've happened to Edgeworth and von Karma. And that's just the first game! There's like a whole AU storyline possible :O
And that's why spirit channeling is banned in courts, cases would be too short :p. Pretty clean Valerie sprite btw! Those vids really make me want to replay the entire series.
Once again, my sincerest congratulations for all the care and effort you put in these videos. That Valerie sprite is simply fantastic. Nonetheless, with regard to the actual canon coherence, I found a little problem. During Bridge to the Turnabout, there is a point in the trial where the Judge speaks after the whole Dahlia exorcision shebang and says that his brother (who happens to be the blond haired judge) criticized him for not studying hard enough, and also hints that he doesn't really believe things such as channelings. Therefore, it seems a little difficult that he would accept what he was seeing before him and would resort to offering an alternate explanation, I'd say.
Well, the only other explanations he could find would be that either Mia Fey is a shapeshifter, or that she was wearing a mask that suddenly disappeared. I mean, no matter how much of a non-believer of the supernatural one is, if they suddenly see someone completely change into an entirely different person in front of their eyes (and not just the face - the body type, the voice, the eye color, everything), they're bound to doubt what they do and do not believe. So no matter how stubborn our Canadian Judge might be, I don't think he'd be able to find any logical explanation that doesn't go beyond common logic :p

Have to wonder if Mia and Diego defend Miles in this timeline or not. We don't really have the greatest time-frame as to when Phoenix became Mia's apprentice and he probably wouldn't have switched his minor to his major without the events that happened to him in college...
Valerie is... a strange character. As far as we know, she was the only daughter that came out of the first marriage of the father of the twins. We don't know if her first wife is dead or they just got divorced. But... It's funny that despite this, the father continued to take care of Valerie, when he could have simply left her in the care of the mother or in an orphanage... but he didn't. Which is strange because the man decided to leave one of the twins instead of the daughter of the old marriage. Perhaps, over time, the man grew fond of Valerie, or perhaps he saw potential in her that would help him gain power. This could be one of the reasons why Valerie decided to become a police officer, her father forced her to find a position of power to help him, or Valerie simply decided to be a police officer to take revenge on his father. However, her plan would have no results, there was no evidence or anything to give away some black business of her father, it wasn't until Dahlia told her about her plan that she would finally have what she wanted. First, Valerie would advise her father to negotiate the ransom with the diamond to keep up appearances. This should be a heavy blow to her father's pocket, something she couldn't recover from. Second, with this she could lock up Terry, who from the beginning she didn't like, let alone Dahlia. And finally, this situation could generate points for a possible future promotion. The plan was perfect, it benefited her and Dahlia, but in the end we all know what happened... For me, Valerie despite sharing the last name with one of the most evil people in the Ace Attorney universe, I believed that she really was a good person, one of the few competent officers, and someone who really wanted to make a change. But hey... This is just my ideas and headcanon of a character that doesn't even appear for more than 10 minutes if she is introduced.
Only correction I'll make to this is Valerie's parentage. Mr. Hawthorne wasn't Valerie's biological father. Dahlia's father married Valerie's mother, and the two girls were step sisters. Valerie mostly probably took Mr. Hawthorne's last name to make things easy for the family

You did a wonderful job with the Valerie sprite. I’m always impressed with the work you can do concerning sprites. I also enjoyed the hypothetical situation this video presents, but it would also be interesting to explore how this affects Wright, since Mia saving him is the main inspiration that drives him to be a defense attorney. (I’m also aware that it was because Edgeworth helped him out in the class trial, but I think that Mia’s assistance “snapped him out” of not pursuing a defensive attorney job.)
Watching this video, I got an idea for one of your future videos: Turnabout Succesion, but Maya is in the trial of Zak Gramarye and channel Magnifi's Spirit
Man, in this AU a lot of things won't happen like Phoenix meeting Dahlia or maybe Diego getting poisoned. With the Dahlia arrest happening earlier than usual Phoenix won't meet Mia, but I think he would still be a defense attorney because Edgeworth. That said I think Mia had him under her wing because he was a familiar face, so where he would be when he passes bar would be anyone's guess... Worst case scenario is that he won't meet Maya and he'll have to turtle his way to meet Edgeworth.
Adding an outline would be a lot of extra work, because I ripped her from the anime (which naturally has very thin linearts). So I rolled with leaving her outline as it was and focus on the animations and poses :p
This is so beyond my expectation. You even didn't hold back anything. Some fact: this video is like "Turnabout Beginnings Alternate Scenario/Ending (objection.lol)" made by VolcanonX but this time is on the Defense's side. Turns out, both Mia Fey and Miles Edgeworth could have changed the course of the trial had it been implemented. Mia Fey has a trump card which is able to channel the victim's spirit, while Miles Edgeworth has experience he gained from handling the "Turnabout Reminiscence" Case which helps him becoming more careful and cautious when dealing with suspicious people.
Exactly! I was thinking about it too, the Turnabout Reminiscence connection. Even there, Bratworth seemed much more likeable and careful compared to his appearance in Beginnings (which happened 5 months after Reminiscence), so I thought of making him a bit more wary o.f Dahlia - and slightly less of a d*ck in this vid - exactly because of his behaviour in the Yatagarasu investigation

I see...I'm gonna play devil's advocate here because I don't like Valerie's righteous attitude here after what she did and it rubs me the wrong way. Even if Valerie claims that Dahlia stabbed her in the back, she has lied UNDER OATH before in regards to Terry, regardless of her reasoning. She can claim that she's telling the truth now, but considering her track record in both committing a crime, framing someone, and lying under oath, Edgeworth can easily make the argument that her credibility is questionable. On top of that while this was a gambit for Mia, the fact is that even if Valerie CLAIMS Dahlia killed her, there is no evidence to prove that she did it. There is no proof to stick to her rather than what both said, and considering Terry AND Dahlia are denying these claims I don't think Dahlia will go down.
Yep. Exactly because I myself wasn't sure about how the court would take Valerie's credibility, I cut it at that part and didn't explore further. But let's be honest, in the canon game, Mia was putting all her hopes on the word of Terry Fawles, who was also a staged kidnapper, a deathrow convict and a fugitive, so we can't say that his word was so reliable either, but Mia still believed that if he told the court that Dahlia was the one on the bridge it would be auto victory for her xD
Though the conviction of Dahlia might not survive an appeal due to DL-6, Valerie might be enough to make Dahlia accidentally confess, and Dahlia is arrogant and short sighted enough to make that mistake..
@@jman5949 True we have to factor in Dahlia panicking and making a slip up. HOWEVER. I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say that Edgeworth intervenes before Dahlia slips up. The problem is unlike Terry, she has a track record already in regards to criminal offences. She lied under oath which is a crime in of itself, and is an accomplice of a heist. All this while she was supposed to be a server of the law. If anything that would make her look worse and a complete joke. And because she just confessed she lied under oath, there is no reason to believe her, especially since she died, and for all intents and purposes she's doing this to bring both Dahlia and Terry down for a heist gone wrong. You see timing is everything. The funny thing is that thanks to this, this could likely result in Terry being exonerated and Dahlia being able to leave scott free. I'll explain. They could actually pin the whole thing on Valerie, considering she WAS apart of the heist, under the pretense she was a corrupted cop that tried to drag her poor younger sister into the whole ordeal that nearly got her killed, in which she went into hiding as a result. Because in what world will anyone believe a 14 year old girl managed to come up with all this over a grown woman, let alone a police officer? And because things backfired the way it did, Valerie in an attempt to save her own skin blamed Terry Fowles for the murder in which BECAUSE she lied under oath basically she spelt her undoing. Based off what little we know and with little evidence pinning Dahlia to the whole ordeal. In short Mia's gambit WOULD prove Terry's innocence, but it would backfire greatly in regards to pinning Dahlia for the crime.

Valerie: I don't believe you! Diego: Wait was your original surname Fey? Because Mia mentioned having two cousins named Dahlia and Iris with her aunt Morgan pregnant with a third. I'm confused about how Iris' existence would change Valerie's argument against Dahlia xD Unless you mean that Dahlia would try to pin the crime on Iris by saying that it was Iris who dressed up as Dahlia and killed Valerie. But even that sounds too much, even for Dahlia's standards imo xD

Well, if you see the anime (she has very few appearances in it) you'll notice that I've pretty much ripped and merged her anime frames into those sprites. I had to redraw a lot of stuff on my own too (the clenched fist in her angry pose was drawn by me from scratch lol). But yeah, she's all anime. As for her animations in this video, I animated them on my own and they were also a pain xD

Not really, I just love the aj courtroom and I wanted a reason to use the aj witness stand that has openings and allow us to view the whole body of the character through it. That's all, really xD
Well, I don't really think of Terry Fawles as a ped... character, at least in the canon. Sure, Dahlia made him fall for her when she was 14, but he himself has the mental state of a... Idk, 5 years old? He may admire her, having a huge crush on her, but I srsly doubt he is even able to imagine a sexual relationship. So, if anything, Dahlia is more of an abuser, hitting on a mentally disabled man and trying to make his crush on her his fault.

I mean, Edgeworth did know that spirit channeling existed. After all he knew that Misty Fey had channeled his father during the DL6 trials, which is why he hated spirit mediums (he thought something had gone wrong and his father's words weren't accurate during Misty's seance or something, unless I'm missing something)
@debastiansebeste I think after the events of Turnabout Goodbyes that Edgeworth believed her to be a fraud, since Yogi who was pinned as a suspect ended up being innocent. At least, that's what I got from what Edgeworth said to Wright in the Inner Temple's Garden during the final investigation segment of Trials and Tribulations. I don't know what Edgeworth thought before 1-4. Yogi ended up being acquitted on a technicality that ruined his life and was not proven innocent at that time. So, even if Redd White's article completely smeared Misty Fey and even if Edgeworth subconsciously belived he was the culrpit of Dl-6, there wasn't any definitive proof that Misty failed.
Defense Armando doesn't exist canonically. His sprites are custom made by shadowrailer and based on Godot's. He preferred to make them low res DS style, and since an HD Armando defense doesn't exist I had to use this one :p

Hmm, in fact, this will change little: Dalia, even being accused, can escape from prison, and she is better call -Saul- to the unprincipled lawyer and he will say in the court that Mia Fey, a charlatank, who used mass hypnosis to force people in the hall to believe that she called the spirit of the victim and everything. Dalia will be justified, Mia will lose her lawyer status. In addition, Dalia now has a strong motive to kill her and she will do this before Redd White will come to the office with the same intentions. At this time, the lawyer of Dalia (and her accomplice part -time) will poison Diego while in the office of Marvin Grossberg. These two crimes will hang on White and Phoenix will have to protect him (although he really does not want to do this.)
aahh, little mishap with when Edgeworth was supposed to shout "Objection" 7:27 so did you prefer apollo's cross examination theme to the Trilogy's ? (as anyone would) ooorr what was the reason ?
That objection kept getting delayed no matter how many times I recorded the video. In the end I just gave up, lol. As for the theme, yeah I just love it lol
However I don’t think Edgeworth will just casually say DL6 his father was killed and up until that point he had nightmares and believed he may be responsible for the crime He even prevented Gumshoe from viewing the DL6 file it was an incident that traumatised him Wouldn’t he be objecting and in denial about this though And if he saw the channeling of Valerie he would be tempted to ask Mia to channel Gregory Edgeworth

That's wrong, Maya mentions that her sister was a very powerful spirit medium, probably more powerful than Maya. And she herself admitted that she found out about Redd White's dirty secrets because she could contact the spirits of the people that Redd White blackmailed and led to suicide.

I've always felt that there probably must've been some kind of mechanic in this universe where people who have only recently died cannot be summoned because they're still in-transit to the afterlife. Because of that, Spirit mediums are all but useless to the overly fast justice system, which eventually led to a distrust of Spirit Mediums ingrained in courtroom culture. Phoenix also can't ask Maya to channel the victim so he can instantly find out the killer for his own investigational benefit either, because almost every case he's taken the victim died within 3 days prior.
Mia would be the exception as a result of her being a Spirit Medium herself, and Gregory Edgeworth was only able to be channeled because it took so long for the police to agree to accept her help, which they only did after the case all but went cold.

the court doesn't really have to accept it, from their POV, it could very well a trick from the defense to change appearance and pretend to be the deceased victim

I always thought it was odd to see Mia never use spirit channeling in court, I mean that would be a practical, 'I Win' button as long as the client was not guilty.
As many people often say, I imagine the reason would be because it would make the games too easy
To be fair, I think the whole DL-6 incident is a pretty good precedent on why spirit channeling isn't the instant win it could be. Gregory passed out in his final moments, so he had no idea if Miles fired off the shot that killed him, and even if he did, he would've "protected Miles" by saying it was Yanni Yogi. Of course, this is ignoring the fact that von Karma was the true culprit, and he would have never known.
Not to say they haven't brought up the idea, it's the basis behind Cases 1, 3, and 5 in Spirit of Justice. The dead are giving testimony, but they're either lying, being inconsistent, or have been manipulated in a way that what they remember isn't the full truth.
from a legal standpoint, it doesn't really ensure a fair trial if a ghost can come and run riot in a courtroom. You can't just say no to a ghost, so they could commit as much perjury as they want and say whoever they want did it with no evidence. That's hardly fair for the accused, you can't just say the victim isn't right. You also have the DLC incident, where a ghost didn't actually know who killed them. That's incredibly unfair.
to be fair, they cant really deny a person changing physical appearance in a second, also note that cases like 2-2 used spirit channeling as evidence.
Unless Mia somehow got disbarred for "introducing unreliable evidence" or some ridiculous thing.
This was some quality Ace Attorney content. Valerie’s sprites look clean and HD as anything. I also really like how you characterize her here. We didn’t get too much characterization in the original case, considering she was a victim and all, but I enjoyed seeing her personality and how she interacted with Dahlia, Edgeworth, and Terry.

And even in "All Ace Attorney Characters" Tier Lists, where characters from the Trilogy, Investigations 1&2, 2nd Trilogy, Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1&2 and the Crossover, appear, including repeats and even animals, her picture isn't there.
Considering she was the one who was the first KG-8 victim, she definitely deserves more attention. 😊
At least, she has much space for interpretation. I could very well imagine her having a crush on Miles Edgeworth on their first and only meeting, but he is totally clueless. And I would like if Cece met her fake sister, and Calisto screws up big time when she reveals her role to Cece, but doesn't recognize her (maybe they would both fight about Miles, but that would be just the cherry on the cake). 😁

She hasn't appeared in the anime and we only got her black n white mugshot. And since I'm a sucker for having every character in a video appear normally with sprites, I don't think I can make it happen :(

He would still be a lawyer, it would just take him a few extra years, as it is not his main focus. Because Wright wouldn't be a lawyer yet, Edgeworth wouldn't've had a defence for Turnabout Goodbyes meaning he'd be in jail. For Wright, there'd be no point to keep studying. His first inspiration is gone, and his second never happened.

Something I'm realizing is so many things would not have happened had the trial gone this way. Phoenix doesn't meet Mia or Maya presumably, Diego doesn't become Godot, and Turnabout Reunion and Bridge to the Turnabout wouldn't happen in the same way.
The entire course of the series as we know it would change dramatically, had all this actually happen.

I will say though, it would be cool if you did something that told us the story of what happened because of this result years down the line.
For example with this video, Phoenix wouldn’t be meeting dahlia and/or Iris in this scenario. Doug Swallow would be alive which means Phoenix wouldn’t have gone to trial and learn how to become a lawyer because of it.
Unless you were planning on making a part 2, wouldn’t that kinda help wrap the story for this particular instance? I think that would help having the video end in a nice conclusion
Well, I thought about it, but tbh I'm not much a "search how the whole AU would unfold afterwards" type of writer. I generally believe in the butterfly effect, so the fact that Dahlia could have been convicted at this point early in the timeline could cause huge changes that I can't really predict. Hell, even Phoenix might have ended up not becoming a defense attorney at all, or he did for some whole different reason, which is unpredictable as he never even mer Dahlia at this point.
In other words, a change like that so early causes infinite parameters to change, so I can't bring myself to explore the whole AU afterwards :p
@@debastiansebeste If it were me, it would probably be smart that if you were try to do this, only focus on how the main characters affected would be changed. So Mia, Armando, and Dahlia. Those would probably be the big 3 in this case.

Hey Debastian Sebeste, that was a pretty good video, i hope to see part 2 of this if it gets a continuation. Also speaking of DL-6 this video made me think it would be a cool “what if” video would be what if the police asked Rayfa Padma Khura’in to do a Divination Seance for Gregory Edgeworth, now obviously it wouldn’t work because he was unconscious at the time of his death but I would like to see the characters reactions the effects and the aftermath of the failed Divination Seance.
Also Mael Stronghart in Great Ace Attorney said that Tobias Gregson was dead and that unless Naruhodo and Asogi could summon Gregson’s ghost to the stand to testify, it is nothmg but hearsay. Imagine if Mia, Maya or Pearl fey somehow ended up in that time period and channeled Tobias Gregson, it would be interesting for him to implicate Stronghart as the masterind. That or Klint van Zieks.
I'm afraid Rayfa was born 11 years after Gregory Edgeworth's death, so she wouldn't be able to produce a seance for him at least 20 years later. Plus, Gregory Edgeworth was unconscious when he died, so the seance wouldn't be able to show anything.
As for Gregson, I do want to make a vid about him eventually, but making the Feys time travel to the past to channel him is kinda too much xD

I think this is Debeste video I’ve ever seen. I would like to see what happened back with Dahlia since i hated her so much. But now the timeline should be different.
YOOOO, that would have been so cool if this happened! Like, how many things would be different given the alternate timeline? Terry would still be alive (maybe in prison, but not dead), Armando wouldn't have been poisoned by Dahlia, so he never enters the coma. Then Simon Swallows wouldn't have been killed, Phoenix wouldn't have been on trial for murder and met Mia, Phoenix might never have become a defense attorney... With that information, Mia might not have been killed (if Armando got to her in time like in your other video), Maya wouldn't have gone on trial, who knows what would've happened to Edgeworth and von Karma. And that's just the first game! There's like a whole AU storyline possible :O

Once again, my sincerest congratulations for all the care and effort you put in these videos. That Valerie sprite is simply fantastic. Nonetheless, with regard to the actual canon coherence, I found a little problem. During Bridge to the Turnabout, there is a point in the trial where the Judge speaks after the whole Dahlia exorcision shebang and says that his brother (who happens to be the blond haired judge) criticized him for not studying hard enough, and also hints that he doesn't really believe things such as channelings. Therefore, it seems a little difficult that he would accept what he was seeing before him and would resort to offering an alternate explanation, I'd say.
Well, the only other explanations he could find would be that either Mia Fey is a shapeshifter, or that she was wearing a mask that suddenly disappeared.
I mean, no matter how much of a non-believer of the supernatural one is, if they suddenly see someone completely change into an entirely different person in front of their eyes (and not just the face - the body type, the voice, the eye color, everything), they're bound to doubt what they do and do not believe.
So no matter how stubborn our Canadian Judge might be, I don't think he'd be able to find any logical explanation that doesn't go beyond common logic :p

Have to wonder if Mia and Diego defend Miles in this timeline or not. We don't really have the greatest time-frame as to when Phoenix became Mia's apprentice and he probably wouldn't have switched his minor to his major without the events that happened to him in college...
Valerie is... a strange character.
As far as we know, she was the only daughter that came out of the first marriage of the father of the twins. We don't know if her first wife is dead or they just got divorced.
But... It's funny that despite this, the father continued to take care of Valerie, when he could have simply left her in the care of the mother or in an orphanage... but he didn't.
Which is strange because the man decided to leave one of the twins instead of the daughter of the old marriage. Perhaps, over time, the man grew fond of Valerie, or perhaps he saw potential in her that would help him gain power.
This could be one of the reasons why Valerie decided to become a police officer, her father forced her to find a position of power to help him, or Valerie simply decided to be a police officer to take revenge on his father.
However, her plan would have no results, there was no evidence or anything to give away some black business of her father, it wasn't until Dahlia told her about her plan that she would finally have what she wanted.
First, Valerie would advise her father to negotiate the ransom with the diamond to keep up appearances. This should be a heavy blow to her father's pocket, something she couldn't recover from.
Second, with this she could lock up Terry, who from the beginning she didn't like, let alone Dahlia.
And finally, this situation could generate points for a possible future promotion. The plan was perfect, it benefited her and Dahlia, but in the end we all know what happened...
For me, Valerie despite sharing the last name with one of the most evil people in the Ace Attorney universe, I believed that she really was a good person, one of the few competent officers, and someone who really wanted to make a change.
But hey... This is just my ideas and headcanon of a character that doesn't even appear for more than 10 minutes if she is introduced.
Only correction I'll make to this is Valerie's parentage. Mr. Hawthorne wasn't Valerie's biological father. Dahlia's father married Valerie's mother, and the two girls were step sisters. Valerie mostly probably took Mr. Hawthorne's last name to make things easy for the family

I also enjoyed the hypothetical situation this video presents, but it would also be interesting to explore how this affects Wright, since Mia saving him is the main inspiration that drives him to be a defense attorney.
(I’m also aware that it was because Edgeworth helped him out in the class trial, but I think that Mia’s assistance “snapped him out” of not pursuing a defensive attorney job.)

Man, in this AU a lot of things won't happen like Phoenix meeting Dahlia or maybe Diego getting poisoned.
With the Dahlia arrest happening earlier than usual Phoenix won't meet Mia, but I think he would still be a defense attorney because Edgeworth. That said I think Mia had him under her wing because he was a familiar face, so where he would be when he passes bar would be anyone's guess... Worst case scenario is that he won't meet Maya and he'll have to turtle his way to meet Edgeworth.
I wonder if you could do a video on Mia confronting Grossberg.

Adding an outline would be a lot of extra work, because I ripped her from the anime (which naturally has very thin linearts). So I rolled with leaving her outline as it was and focus on the animations and poses :p

Turns out, both Mia Fey and Miles Edgeworth could have changed the course of the trial had it been implemented. Mia Fey has a trump card which is able to channel the victim's spirit, while Miles Edgeworth has experience he gained from handling the "Turnabout Reminiscence" Case which helps him becoming more careful and cautious when dealing with suspicious people.
Exactly! I was thinking about it too, the Turnabout Reminiscence connection. Even there, Bratworth seemed much more likeable and careful compared to his appearance in Beginnings (which happened 5 months after Reminiscence), so I thought of making him a bit more wary o.f Dahlia - and slightly less of a d*ck in this vid - exactly because of his behaviour in the Yatagarasu investigation

I see...I'm gonna play devil's advocate here because I don't like Valerie's righteous attitude here after what she did and it rubs me the wrong way. Even if Valerie claims that Dahlia stabbed her in the back, she has lied UNDER OATH before in regards to Terry, regardless of her reasoning. She can claim that she's telling the truth now, but considering her track record in both committing a crime, framing someone, and lying under oath, Edgeworth can easily make the argument that her credibility is questionable. On top of that while this was a gambit for Mia, the fact is that even if Valerie CLAIMS Dahlia killed her, there is no evidence to prove that she did it. There is no proof to stick to her rather than what both said, and considering Terry AND Dahlia are denying these claims I don't think Dahlia will go down.
Yep. Exactly because I myself wasn't sure about how the court would take Valerie's credibility, I cut it at that part and didn't explore further. But let's be honest, in the canon game, Mia was putting all her hopes on the word of Terry Fawles, who was also a staged kidnapper, a deathrow convict and a fugitive, so we can't say that his word was so reliable either, but Mia still believed that if he told the court that Dahlia was the one on the bridge it would be auto victory for her xD
Though the conviction of Dahlia might not survive an appeal due to DL-6, Valerie might be enough to make Dahlia accidentally confess, and Dahlia is arrogant and short sighted enough to make that mistake..
@@jman5949 True we have to factor in Dahlia panicking and making a slip up. HOWEVER. I'm going to play Devil's Advocate and say that Edgeworth intervenes before Dahlia slips up. The problem is unlike Terry, she has a track record already in regards to criminal offences. She lied under oath which is a crime in of itself, and is an accomplice of a heist. All this while she was supposed to be a server of the law. If anything that would make her look worse and a complete joke. And because she just confessed she lied under oath, there is no reason to believe her, especially since she died, and for all intents and purposes she's doing this to bring both Dahlia and Terry down for a heist gone wrong. You see timing is everything.
The funny thing is that thanks to this, this could likely result in Terry being exonerated and Dahlia being able to leave scott free. I'll explain.
They could actually pin the whole thing on Valerie, considering she WAS apart of the heist, under the pretense she was a corrupted cop that tried to drag her poor younger sister into the whole ordeal that nearly got her killed, in which she went into hiding as a result. Because in what world will anyone believe a 14 year old girl managed to come up with all this over a grown woman, let alone a police officer? And because things backfired the way it did, Valerie in an attempt to save her own skin blamed Terry Fowles for the murder in which BECAUSE she lied under oath basically she spelt her undoing.
Based off what little we know and with little evidence pinning Dahlia to the whole ordeal.
In short Mia's gambit WOULD prove Terry's innocence, but it would backfire greatly in regards to pinning Dahlia for the crime.

Well, if you see the anime (she has very few appearances in it) you'll notice that I've pretty much ripped and merged her anime frames into those sprites. I had to redraw a lot of stuff on my own too (the clenched fist in her angry pose was drawn by me from scratch lol). But yeah, she's all anime. As for her animations in this video, I animated them on my own and they were also a pain xD

Yeah. I couldn't do anything about that. I recorded the video from zero 7 times and that specific objection kept getting delayed from 2 to 10 seconds, lol. In the end I just gave up xD

Not really, I just love the aj courtroom and I wanted a reason to use the aj witness stand that has openings and allow us to view the whole body of the character through it.

Well, I don't really think of Terry Fawles as a ped... character, at least in the canon. Sure, Dahlia made him fall for her when she was 14, but he himself has the mental state of a... Idk, 5 years old? He may admire her, having a huge crush on her, but I srsly doubt he is even able to imagine a sexual relationship.
So, if anything, Dahlia is more of an abuser, hitting on a mentally disabled man and trying to make his crush on her his fault.
Well, nevertheless, his whole demeanor of "my Teen angel" is a very red light to me, ngl. And Dahlia did manipulate him, but she still also was a 14 year old, no matter how smart and vile, so it sort of went both ways - Terry grooming her and Dahlia exploiting him.

I mean, Edgeworth did know that spirit channeling existed. After all he knew that Misty Fey had channeled his father during the DL6 trials, which is why he hated spirit mediums (he thought something had gone wrong and his father's words weren't accurate during Misty's seance or something, unless I'm missing something)
@debastiansebeste I think after the events of Turnabout Goodbyes that Edgeworth believed her to be a fraud, since Yogi who was pinned as a suspect ended up being innocent. At least, that's what I got from what Edgeworth said to Wright in the Inner Temple's Garden during the final investigation segment of Trials and Tribulations.
I don't know what Edgeworth thought before 1-4. Yogi ended up being acquitted on a technicality that ruined his life and was not proven innocent at that time. So, even if Redd White's article completely smeared Misty Fey and even if Edgeworth subconsciously belived he was the culrpit of Dl-6, there wasn't any definitive proof that Misty failed.

Defense Armando doesn't exist canonically. His sprites are custom made by shadowrailer and based on Godot's. He preferred to make them low res DS style, and since an HD Armando defense doesn't exist I had to use this one :p

Dalia, even being accused, can escape from prison, and she is better call -Saul- to the unprincipled lawyer and he will say in the court that Mia Fey, a charlatank, who used mass hypnosis to force people in the hall to believe that she called the spirit of the victim and everything. Dalia will be justified, Mia will lose her lawyer status. In addition, Dalia now has a strong motive to kill her and she will do this before Redd White will come to the office with the same intentions. At this time, the lawyer of Dalia (and her accomplice part -time) will poison Diego while in the office of Marvin Grossberg. These two crimes will hang on White and Phoenix will have to protect him (although he really does not want to do this.)
