I've never considered an electric car let alone a corsa but as a big guy I found it very roomy and comfortable once adjusted correctly. The drive was very smooth and I was amazed at how light it felt to drive.
We test drove the Opel branded version of this car in Spain and we really like it. It's more roomy than we expected and it actually feels less cramped than our BMW E91 (with a snapped timing chain) does. We have one reserved and are going tomorrow to seal the deal.

You know that by now there's 2016/17 cars with reliable real world +100 like ranges for well under 20G. I could think of the BMW i3 94Ah (33kWh) and its REx, the Renault Zoe 40kWh, Nissan Leaf 30kWh, Hyundai Ioniq 28kWh. That's excluding any of the many PHEVs.

I ran a back to back test between the Pug and the Corsa E in March. The Pug looks impressive but there was no substance to it at all. I was dismayed that the model I drove didn't have sat nav! And it didn't show me the battery level, instead just an estimated readout. The Corsa nailed it, albeit you pay for it. Drive was good in both. Acceleration isnt electrifying but it is constant. Range on a full charge was roughly 180 miles on motorway and a road trip using all three modes. Annual service was quoted at sub £50! In the end though, I preferred the Corsa but the range isnt enough to do a regular Sunday kids drop on one charge so I remain a Deisel head. I need a guaranteed 300 miles in all weather conditions for £24k and we're nowhere near that...yet.
Why is there a Vauxhaul Logo on the steering wheel but an Opel one one the outside?

Noticed four symbols on cruise control. UK reviews show three. Did this model have adaptive cruise control, which i understand is not available on the Elite Nav or any other e Corsa for the UK and only available on the Petrol/Diesel top of the range models
I'm glad the drive is nice. Some of us also care about features like sensors and cameras too. What's actually included with each trim level, that sort of thing.

In my opinion it would also be useful to include which charging networks electric cars have access to and more importantly the most cost effective networks for the particular car being tested.
You'd have access to any of the charging networks bar the Tesla only Superchargers. Prices vary depending on whether you are a subscriber to certain services, such as Polar, or if you're paying by contactless which is more expensive. Plus many supermarkets, car parks and local councils are adding free chargers.
Lastly, the public chargers are only usually relevant if you're on a long journey since most charging is done at home overnight.
Hey there! Noticed you were reviewing a model with panorama roof here - you noticed any "bar" right above your head when sitting on the backseats? Another review mentioned that, seems to be due to the panorama roof and for an extra 700€, this is pretty bad imo...
I like uninspiring interior with buttons. No distraction from all those screens with infotainment we do not need or result in dangerous situations. Keep your eyes on the road!

That's the Corsa not the Corsa E...... the Corsa E in SE trim is 25k £299 a month and the petrol equivalent is 14k £168 a month. All in peter vardys.

Yes. it is not a Peugeot and has different seating and steering wheel.
I know it's not a Peugeot, but is the exact same car! Therefore, possibly, the same steering rack etc?
@@computerbob06 Same steering rack, different steering wheel. Goes slightly higher on the Opel, but it might just be an illusion, because the wheel on the Peugeot is smaller and gets slightly in the way of the screen sometimes. I've just testdriven them both.
Definitely easily affordable for those on low pay, how can this compete with fiesta, polo or even new clio
I much prefer the more distinctive looks of the 208 and was quite surprised at the interior quality - PSA have aspirations to pitch the Peugeot brand closer to VW - BUT being tall I still struggle with their i cockpit design which drops the steering wheel into my lap and makes you have to peer down over the steering wheel to see the instrument binnacle. Feels odd and where design has overruled sense.
Why has that Opel got the wrong logo on its steering wheel boss???
That's the British brand called Vauxhall which is only available in the UK.

david muic thanks. I know. I’m British. I’ve never understood why keep up the illusion of Vauxhall. Vauxhall hasn’t been British-owned since 1925. It has sold only Opel vehicles since the 1970s. Now they’ll be reskinned PSA products so possibly pitched differently in the manner of VAG’s marques, which is much more understandable than the simple badge change between Opel and Vauxhall...

I prefer the Corsa interior. 208 with it's small steering wheel and and lack of buttons for temp control don't work for me.
Agree. 208 looks better outside and is more interesting inside, Corsa-e is more practical to control from the inside and more of a sleeper look on the outside. Selling our diesel Golf and the Corsa-e fits us better for our use and not wanting to be noticed too much! I guess that was the PSA plan - e-208 for looks and sexiness, Corsa-e for those with more conservative tastes.

Comparing a car from one class / segment to another doesn't make any sense, unless for some strange reason they are the same price. Which is not the case here.
This car is much better looking than the Zoe, but I'd rather have the mini e as it's actually fun to drive. We are making progress but they still cost too much. Will take years to recoup difference compared to a petrol versions.

It has always been a mystery to me how well the previous Corsa's sold in the UK despite being mediocre at best , i'm sure the massive discounts helped ! , looks like someone got the badges mixed up in the factory , i thought all Vauxhalls were right hand drive only lol !.
Could've been done for the press car only, knowing that the reviewer was British. I don't know.
The Astra's were always very popular
The new Corsa is a big leap forward and looks great in certain trims. Not this one though, it looks like it has been jacked up with small wheels and bad looking gap under the arches. (because it has). That how they fitted the battery in without a ground up designed chassis. Like a toddler trying to force the wrong shape into a hole. Still better looking than the Zoe though.
When I bought my '16 Astra I looked at a Corsa and it was underwhelming. £2,000 more for 20 less horsepower. My Astra is a 1L 3cyl turbo at 105hp, but the Corsa was somehwere like 84hp, and gutless on a test drive. The Astra came home with me, she flies :)

You could ask the local council to install lamppost chargers? When on the road, if you live in Greater London, there are rapid chargers being installed that you can use free of charge. If this doesn’t work, potentially consider a PHEV. The benefits of a PHEV is that you can use the full ev mode in urban areas and then you can use the combustion engine when the battery runs out.
I drove one and prefer it to the e208. A little duller inside but the Pug is too fussy.
I'm still not getting this hate for the air con controls being no more than *a single press away* (yes, not an underestimation) on the infotainment screen, or using the piano keys for some quick functions like demist, recirc, full A/C etc. in an e-208. If that's the only reason for getting a Corsa over a 208...
There are many... more reasons, better safety, better instruments, more spacious in the front seat and 12 kilometers longer range - according to tests in Norway. Simply put, it is a better car... because it prioritizes function... while Peugeot prioritizes impressions... BUT is a worse car in reality.
Peugeot is trying to trick you into buying a worse car and think it's great !
That's pretty nasty.
Because there's no feedback you have GOT to look to see you're hitting the right bit of the screen. With physical controls you reach down feel for the dial & done. Also with a dual it's always there no look make sure you're on the right screen then find the right place to touch, also you're assuming all drivers are created equal maybe older or disabled drivers don't like operating hvac that way.
Try operating hvac controls with wet hands having just got in the car on a rainy day. It's great for some like yourself, if you're happy why worry about those who doubt like touch controls? Jury be happy you're OK & get whatever you like
It’s mentioned in every review of this car, but I find it very hard to believe that PSA fitted a unique rear axle to this car just to liberate an extra 7mm for the battery pack. 7mm!!!! I suspect there is another reason. Come on PSA, be honest.
They did not just fit it to liberate 7 mm, it is a different set up to carry the extra weight, and there is the wider track and the pan rod. The wheel sits off centre in the wheel well by being 7 mm more rearward. Where a proper review was done there are other 'Motoring Journalists' that explain better.

Dull video tbh. Felt like he was just going round and round the same things but not really adding much more content just saying it ina different way, bit like the BBC News. Berlin is awesome. Love the exterior of the car, bit the inside is dire, almost like they've gone back in time 15 years, obviously built to a cheap budget yet the price is sky high! The Corsa used to be cheap as chips, now I wouldn't stand a cat in hells chance to buy one

The mrs just got a brand new Corsa e which is used during the week 4 miles to work an 4 back(town driving) and I have to say either there’s something wrong with it or it’s seriously alergic to the cold. Its not being floored everywhere and only heated seat used etc and It’s showing 115 MILES 100% CHARGED, it’s been average 10 degrees C recently and I’m aware the range drops when it’s cold but it ain’t that cold and that is way off even the actual REAL world range it’s supposed to have when it’s proper cold-from looking at independent sites (how these companies are getting away with the ranges they are quoting is scandalous).
It’s sort of putting me off getting an EV for the time being which is disappointing as I now think a lot of current EV’s are like this, or maybe it’s just cos it’s a Vauxhall...
Probably because the computer hasnt had a decent long drive, the range guage is a guess based on previous driving if there's little knowledge for it to base that guess in it'll be less accurate. Look at the cars fully charged have tested Robert often says when I got the car the range at 100% was really low probably due to having been thrashed by the previous journalist similar thing here I expect. Plus 10C air temp, the battery could be getting a lot colder than that overnight & then due to lag stay cold for longer affecting the range more than you'd think
@@norfolkngood8960 I agree with the cold overnight. But would think 2 months of town driving the computer would have learnt a more accurate range from those hundreds of drives and charge levels as a result. Considering town driving is when it should be most efficient/aimed at.
The computer in it is just terrible. Got on a motorway with 60 miles range after literally topping up to 60 miles before going on the motorway, dropped to 2 miles range left after 25 miles, limp mode to nearest charger, things like that mean I’d never recommended a corsa e. Budget technology with an extortionate price tag

Had the e208 on test and it only did 125 miles on a charge. . . The Corsa will be the same so therefore making it 10K too expensive. . Still saving for a 3 !!!!

@@alexgrazie93 Until the 31st Jan the UK was in the UK and it was always Vauxhall in that part of the EU. So maybe Continental Europe, Ireland and RoW use Opel.
Petrol and diesel both longer range by a country mile and refuel (recharge equivilent) 5 minutes. Is up to 200 miles on a full tank acceptable? No it's not. The E is not impressive it's a giant step backward with a huge price tag.

Ha ha, the very best thing about this car is it has physical knobs for the a/c. Pretty much sums up Vauxhall/Opel, great cars if your're not interested in driving or cars, if that's the case, buy a Dacia, even cheaper. DR was strugging to show any enthisiasm for this mediocre Eurobox.
Best you go drive one and see if they are boring. Put TC off and put it in Sport and take on a great driving road, not just driving around some city.

But at Under £30,000 as dealers in the UK are already discounting e-Corsas they are more enjoyable to drive than a Zoe or some other EV's that dealers can not even supply.

Disappointing that it's quite expensive. I would like to see the Zoe, e208 and Corsa e priced below 20K. I think they are becoming too greedy. Would love an EV but the price is putting me off as there is only so much you can save on fuel

Vauxhall used to be ok. Astra vxr, corsa vxr. The Sri and gsi. Now it’s just makes bland boxes with no soul and low powered engines

Now, I have had the opportunity to look at the instruments in the Peugeot 208, it must be said that they are a complete disaster...!!! they are not good for anything other than being a computer game... they should NOT ! sit in a real car to be used in traffic on real roads.
Corsa's instruments are a hundred... light years better, because they actually works...!!! and do their job...!!!
In addition, the Corsa's screen is calm and relaxed to look at and thus helps to reduce the stress of the driver and thus increase traffic safety.
£30k for a corsa? for an extra £10k might as well get a model 3. Disappointing.

Yes. But the Model 3 SR+ pushes you into the £40k+ luxury car tax band, so even more expensive in the long run!
And, of course, not everyone has £40k+ to spend on a car!
Tesla: no discounts
All other OEMs: 15-30% discount is standard.
The 30k€ price tag in Germany for this car results in just under 20k€ with discount and gov+OEM-grant. For 20k, this car doesn't look half bad. I sat in it at the IAA in Frankfurt last year - it felt higher quality and far less "plasticy" than the ID3s available. Definitely above Dacia's and the old Renault Zoe. I prefer this interior to the model 3 any day. Though, the BMW i3 is far better still imo, interiorwise.
.. in other words: you can get two base version of these for the price of the base model 3.

Well, that is not the case in Germany, where the 50kwh Zoe with battery purchase is about 25k after grant etc.
The grant in Germany to be fair is also 3k, since the other 3k is from the OEMs, which basically means they increase the prices by 3k and then give "3k subsidy"...
Total rubbish. Had one for a day, no use for motorway journeys because anything over 50mph depletes the range rapidly, even with no heater or radio on. Try going long distance. Time to charge takes longer than the journey itself. Bloody joke.

Peugeot simply kills Opel/Vauxhall. Bloody stupid Frensh the worst possible owner for the brand. Ynlike VW Group brands Peugeot market Opel/Vauxhall as direct competitor of the PSA but keep it with cheaper materials and worst design.
The sales figures shows I'm damn right just 1-2 years ago Opel/Vauxhall was selling significantly more cars in Europe the Peugeot having bigger market share as well - now this trend is vice versa... DAMN BLOODY FRENCH! They simply kill a nice brand with long traditions :(
Benzinio french cars in general are just absolute tripe to what they used to be. Too expensive and electronically speaking, unreliable. Poor interior quality also. All of this was an acceptable trade off for a significantly lower price than VAG counterparts but now they are bloody expensive cars full stop. To the point where you might as well buy a better quality car.

Stephen G Nobody said VAG cars were that much better. Ridiculously over engineered so independent garages aren’t able to repair and maintain their cars as easily. Extremely compact inside to the point where labour charges rise due to the added complexity of the cars. Unreliable in general and high maintenance. Interior quality is good but that’s about it really. Their DCTs are ridiculously expensive to replace when they inevitably fail. VW also have fucked up the software for their ID3 cars so they’re all made and in storage. Losing value all the time.

Above how can Benzinio seriously state that vw do NOT market Skoda and Seat the same? Same cars cheaper materials (not always worse design granted). The new Renault Captur seems to buck the trend of French cars for decent quality, lots of equipment at a good price, in the uk at least, not that I would buy one.

Stephen G I don’t know what comments you’re referring to tbh. I didn’t see a comment that the other guy was saying VW doesn’t market seat and skoda the same. Though I agree with him. They position the brands differently to fit a particular audience.
Don’t know much about the captur other than its heavily advertised in the UK. I personally wouldn’t buy one or mostly anything that is French manufacturer made. I don’t even think the price is that amazing. Korean cars aren’t too bad. I like Japanese. Just a shame they don’t make the best of interiors.
Priced too high for a mediocre car. Base Tesla 3 is only $5k more and is NOT mediocre.
This is a UK review, the base Tesla 3 costs almost 40,000 pounds in the UK, which is 12k more than the base Corsa-e.
Overpriced for a mediocre car? Yes. But significantly cheaper than the Tesla Model 3 which makes this an option. The model is still too expensive for 240 miles worth of range. The Renault zoe matches that and is still more affordable for the masses. Tesla seems to have a very different idea of a mass produced affordable car to other manufacturers especially when considering the UK market.
Reflection from Germany:
The model 3 (SR+ is lowest available in Europe) is above 42k€ including gov+OEM-grant and (the lack of) discounts.
The Corsa-e is below 20k€ when you include grants and discounts. That is a BIG difference.
notice how it is a German Car, which is why it s left hand drive, with an OPEL badge on the front, and a VAUXHALL logo on the steering wheel.. How pathetic What Car!! and Vauxhall doesn't even do left hand drive...
It at least has the fabric seat with part fake leather trim. But the Vauxhall e-Corsa does not get a panoramic roof in the UK, and that is a Elite Nav or 17" wheels, the SE Nan gets 16" ones and quite a few things less over the Elite.
