As another reviewer said: "Not everyone wants a fashion statement on wheels - they just want a car. And the Corsa... is just a car!" And a comfy one too 😀
I did wonder when you were going to review a Corsa. I have bought one and I have had Vauxhall’s for years. I don’t like the Peugeot, end of. Mine is hot red with a black roof which is much better than that orange. The dealer gave me a good deal and delivery was due in late March last year, then there was Covid-19. The best thing about the car for me are the fantastic LED headlights, second for me is the performance and in summer the range is well over 200 miles if driven sensibly. The charging curve is reasonably flat and charging is quick. I have no regrets.
I had a Corsa-e test drive for a week. I was really impressed with it. Compared with my 40kWh LEAF all I really missed was a heated steering wheel and heated seats (might have just been the trim level). What seemed crazy is that you can start a charge at a set time but you can't stop it after a certain time, or % of battery state. So not so good if you are trying to make the most of a tariff such as Octopos GO.
So does it just continue charging up to 100%? That would be very odd since it is not advisable to do that on a routine basis. (Curiously the Tesla Model 3 doesn't have a charge stop time either but you can set the max percentage so it's actually quite easy to take advantage of Octopus Go.)
Two tone cars became popular in Sydney Australia in the early 70s due to a massive Hailstone storm that wreaked most of the car roofs and so they covered them with vinyl to cover the dents, too expensive to repair. I tried the Corsa banged my head getting in and I'm only 5’10” that killed it for me.
I quite like the look of this Corsa, and the orange is surprisingly pleasant on the eye. To be honest, Tesla's are not the best looking cars, if Tesla's were just another combustion car, sales would be very low.
I think I'd prefer the Corsa over the Peugeot. But the new eMokka seems to be where it's at, given the unending clamour for SUV style cars. I do like the styling of that. The old one was hideous though.
I've had numerous Vauxhall over 45 years, some good some not so good. Generally reliable though so I would definitely consider this Corsa-e, but it'd have to be way lower than list price.
I like the e208 exterior much better, but I chose the corsa-e over it because of the AC buttons and the fewer shiny plastic bits. I really enjoy driving my Corsa-e, had it since August. The radio sucks, bluetooth is hit and miss and it's laggy af
Two tone roofs and dark apillars are designed to make the car look lower and less chonky than they are. Likewise with SUV/crossovers and dark textured arches. Less chonk visually.
I actually like the corsa-e and the ad that pops up on YT is humorous - I'm looking forward to the follow-on where they discuss the price and the real world range!👍
Vauxhall, Opel, Peugeot, Citroen and DS recently merged with Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep etc. so all these brands are likely to be the same cars under the skin in the future with common EV platforms.
@@dcvariousvids8082 Vauxhall is just a 'brand' used to sell Opel cars in the UK. When both brands were owned by GM, the Vauxhall Griffon grille badge was changed from square to circular some years ago so it could fit in grilles designed for the circular Opel logo.
I have a french opel corsa-e and never heard the name vauxhall before. The glove box is bigger when it's on the right side of the car. And there is no buttons right under the touchscreen but tactiles ones on the sides.
I've ordered one Vauxhall Corsa e in white. I don't like my car to stand out especially where I live. Watching this I'm happy with my choice having had to quit Ford Focus ST line because of the Ukraine war and chip / silicon reasons and certainly because of cost of deisal which is now ridiculous today price hits over £1.70 per litre. I also notice no engine noise wich is odd and of course automatic eeek not liking that bit again sacrifices must be made plus it's green, doing my bit. Must admit was a bit nervous with your review because I've already ordered. Happy man Watching this. Thanks mate.
Compared to previous versions of the Corsa, which were all very good, this is a massive improvement and I would choose it over the 208, which does nothing for me, every single time.
Nice motor, good EV spec. Never understand why car makers think the transmission lever goes forwards for reverse and Backwards is forwards? Boats always fave forwards for forwards and vice versa , 🤔
I have just ordered one of these based partially on this review. Styling wise I prefer the Peugeot for sure - but the dealer I ordered from sold the new updated 2022 Elite premium Nav version, ordered from the factory, for the equivalent of £25,777 with various discounts and deposit contributions and things. The EV Elite Premium is closer in spec to the petrol ultimate than the elite - and the only ultimates on autotrader are on sale for £26,990. Same dealer is selling the SE Premium for £22k or so. I traded in from a mid spec C3 automatic and worked out that even with slightly higher finance cost I’m saving £500-£1000 a year in running cost for a much nicer car. Long journeys, which I do every now and then, will be interesting as I understand charging can be a challenge - but I live in South east so benefit from the relative abundance down here. Very much looking forward. Hoping it’s a good day to day companion!
@Bolt electric⚡️ I have some experience as my folks have a Mokka and previously had a Corsa-e (I know, madness to change so soon but there you are!). The infotainment system's energy readout is pretty simplistic. Mostly a graph that I don't fully understand yet. There is an energy display in the driver's dashboard showing what energy is going where but its not sophisticated enough to give you individual kw readouts etc. I knew that - really doesn't bother me truth be told. The app is a bit patchy but generally restarting it works alright. It's significantly better on iOS it seems compared to android... Gotta remember the Leaf is an amazing car but also old - with a smaller battery, lower nominal efficiency (according to EVDB) and cost more. Round here the only Leaf's that are near on price are the basic Acentas with 40kw batteries. You have to ad nearly £3k to get an N-Connecta. Similarly the Leaf doesn't have any active thermal management of its battery - no water cooling to help manage the battery pack's longevity. Finally it doesn't have a heat pump on the 40kw which is a real shame. Ultimately it's a pays your money takes your choice. Outside of maybe the new 500 the Corsa-e is the cheapest normal size EV you can get - with almost all the luxuries in it and all the thermal management and heating kit other brands treat as luxuries if they are offered at all. I think its worth some slightly weaker regen and app infidelity haha!
Can I make a suggestion - giving you a possible lead over other reviewers; A lot of the opinions about a car must be based on the new cost, so why not do the review, but then give an idea if possible of how much better the car would be as a second-hand buy at maybe a third off the typical new prices being paid ?
Not PSA Group... its Stellantis now and includes Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Chrysler and Maserati to name a few... don't you listen to Smith and Sniff podcast ??
I had a 2 Tone Ford Corsair it was a 1970 so it's been around for 50 years Nothing new there. Also had a Bedford Dormobile campervan 1963 with a white roof, sky blue middle and royal blue bottom half So 3 Tone 58 year's ago.
For me this car looks ok. PSA had to retain the Vauxhall brand to secure market share. Powertrain is more than adequate for most people’s needs. Good unbiased review as usual, should help people who are swithering over their first EV purchase. 😎
When the e-Corsa was first shown by Vauxhall the boss of Vauxhall said that Vauxhall had determined that people didn't want an electric car that was dramatically different to a standard traditional car design. As a result they have done an electric car with a basic upgrade of the Corsa - same buttons, same switches. I have drive Vauxhalls for over 20 years and would notice very little difference inside. A bit of a disappointment, I want something different.
I like the look of the car and the fact that it's very basic inside, not too much technology, but price and lack of range is a bit of an off-putting option. I prefer the look of the Vauxhall over the Peugeot. It's probably one of the best looking vehicles on the road
Localy there is one of these in a mustard yellow and it looks so much better than in other colours. My son had an older Corse and I hated it. It replaced a Grande Punto and the build was very poor in comparison to the Fiat, who'd have thought it. I do like the interior on the Corsa, and the buttons, some good deals too. Turns out the car locally is the Peugeot 208, that's why it looks better.
Corsa about £1k less than e-208 for similar trim level and mileage. I prefer the exterior look of the e208 but as a resident of Yorkshire, brass is brass.
Funny you prefer the 208, it was your review that tipped me against it. The massive grille, black wheel arches and cluttered interior with the screen bolted on as an afterthought. Although on paper the Corsa is smaller than the Zoe, I thought was bigger inside. 208 is a smaller car and felt cramped in comparison.
Aside from the slightly bigger trunk on the 208, the Corsa is a better future proof car, it's identical in many regards to the 208 so there's more spare parts, the interior is more basic so it's not following a very specific trend which the 208 clearly is going for and same for the exterior design. I'd totally buy the eCorsa.
Funny how Ford/Vauxhall polarises people... the two worst cars I had were an Escort and Sierra, the best were Rovers but Vectra and Astra a close second... more power, more reliable, better built and so much better to drive.
Had a petrol Vectra for 5 years and you are right, utterly forgettable but it never went wrong and was very cheap to service and maintain . Vauxhall at its best . If I had to I'd have it before the " can't see around the steering wheel " Peugeot any day of the week.
Hi. I borrowed one of these yesterday from a dealer and they let me out on my own, and I was impressed. It was a 70 plate top spec with less than 200 miles on the clock, priced at 25k. Too expensive I feel, so like you suggest I would try an e208 before making up my mind.
another way to get a discount, is if you go for cars that were ordered, already off the production line, but the customer cancelled.... got a Rav4 with 6k off the price like that... only thing is, you don't get to spec the options.. :/
In terms of looks and visual appeal neither the Peugeot or the Opel/Vauxhall excites me. When it comes to functionality I don't mind a bland look. But the new Opel Mokka with its throwback looks of the Opel Manta A... now that is endearing.
Personally I prefer the look of the Corsa on the inside, and outside the Pug front maybe better but overall I still prefer the Corsa. I find the idea that Pug have improved Vauxhall build quality rather bizarre, I have generally found Vauxhall fit and finish to be reasonably good, as for Pug the only car I have had this century where the paint was starting to peel at 2 years old was a Pug. Anyway despite it being based on a Pug I am liking the new Corsa electric am considering buying one.
We didn't have time to design a car so we came up with this! Normally for me price is king, but even I have my limits. Such a shame, look at the mokka, a genuine style alternative to the 2008.
I had a Mokka as a rental. It was so unresponsive driving off at junctions that it was positively dangerous. I have great memories of my 2litre GTE many years ago and do not readily join the current fashion for knocking the brand but the Mokka was dreadful ... and the Corsa E looks better than the Peugeot in my view.
Great review. Think you will like the mokka e better. Should do that next. Personally prefer the corsa although I think it won’t sell because I have only seen 1 Corsa e and about 5 Peugeot e208
As of today 7/3/21 there are new models advertised on auto trader: Corsa E £21,444 and E208. £23,860. Prereg a bit cheaper again. The prices are starting to get there. Not list, but reality. But I'd be more inclined to take a new Zoe for £21,473!
And it can do faster when the TC is off, the car in Sport and not in B. Best with better tyres than the Primacy 4 ECO rubbish tyres help. Then obviously 4 full size adults makes a difference and stuff in the boot. Not that anyone is timing cars fully loaded. Not even the manufacturer's.
Re. the 2 tone roof my mam's 2015 blue skoda fabia had a silver roof, and her current silver arona has a black roof ,( seen a few solid colour aronas and they look boring )
At some point in the review I just started paying attention to the parked cars and trying to see if they had a McDonald's or any type of franchise. So many hatchbacks and brown stone buildings
PSA buying Opel was horrible. First thing they did was end the Karl which is by far the best big mini car on the market, if they could make that car electric and keep the price low it would just clear the market.
@@atreyuidaho The Karl Is the 11.th best selling mini of 18 and 19 years on the EU market. If that isn't good enough for their first attempt at a small car then I fear for the life of the designer that'll make their next car, he/she might get shot. The Adam didn't sell well cause its a shit car fair enough they ended that.
I prefer this over the 208. Especially inside. They are both a bit down on space to be honest. Even the fiesta is a bit more spacious... But in EV world I would prefer the experienced Zoe. 10 years of mainstream EV sales does give more confidence of reliability and customer care.
You have to be of a certain age to be a Ford or Vauxhall person 😅. I grew up in a Vauxhall household, but having owned both Vauxhall’s and Ford’s I moved away from both brands. I think I’d consider a Corsa e or e208 as a daily driver though. PSA have been good for Vauxhall-Opel, GM didn’t have a clue. Look what they did to SAAB 🙄 Another useful video by the way 👍🏾
Interior isn't hugely different to the previous gen Vauxhalls to be fair. I had a 17 plate Astra and it was very similiar inside, bonus is even the bog standard SRi comes with auto lights/wipers, collision avoidance, android auto and alsorts of stuff. The generation before that was dreadful, 2 million buttons all over but lets be honest the equivalent Ford has exactly the same issue and have since went minimalistic thankfully.
? This time before driving an e-Corsa did you bother to check and set the tyre pressures or did you leave the terrible Michelin Primacy 4 205/45r 17's at the pressure set when the car was handed to you? Then same as last time you tested one, the glove compartment is quite deep if you put the manuals in the space nearer the passenger door.
No, the glove box isn’t deep just by removing things from it. It’s less than half the size of LHD. Other marques don’t have that issue. That’s like saying a bedroom is way bigger if you remove the bed.
@@ElectricVehicleMan deep enough on my e-Corsa for what I have in it which is quite a lot. Extra Smart phone, torch. Pens, paper, sat nav, sweets etc. That weighs enough as it is.
@@ElectricVehicleMan Can i ask how tall you are? It is just that when you put the drivers seat back where a 6 foot driver might have it, you could not have had the seat lowered where a 6 foot tall driver might. There is no room behind me for adult feet maybe more than size 5 and someone with legs. Maybe go stick your hand in the glove box and see how deep it actually is, i assume you have pretty normal sized hands.
I'd much rather a Peugeot. I absolutely LOVE their current design! I genuinely prefer the 208 over a LaFerrari looks-wise. And the current 508? Possibly THE most beautiful car to have ever hit the roads.
They current Peugeot design is very ugly. Complicated were simple would do. The most beautiful car ever is the Peugeot 406 coupe (1st generation). Simple and elegant makes it timeless. The new ones are fussy and gimmicky.
@@ElectricVehicleMan Haha. I very much enjoy your presentations and look forward to new offerings. I was drawn to your down to earth manner, a welcome style among such a variety of nonsensical posing in much of RUclips. I loved the ‘spirited’, ahem, whole family gig on New Year’s Eve too. There was another deliberate mistake, wasn’t there? It’s not a two tone roof at all; the roof is only one colour, the paint job on the car is, though. Can I have my Mars bar now?
The colour can be best described charitably as 'Bright Rust'. And _Engine Start?_ Where is there an engine in an EV? In the days of the awful Vauxhall Viva, the saying, 'On a quiet night, you can hear a Vauxhall rust.' became popular. They often failed their first MOT test (at 3 years old) because of excessive corrosion. On some, rust was breaking through the paint after as little as 6 months. And I'm not exaggerating. Later, a friend owned a Chevette, and it was no better. The bodywork had numerous holes all over it, as if it had been spattered with acid before painting, when the car was about 7 years old. He couldn't sell it, not even for parts, so it was scrapped at an early age. Needless to say, he never bought another Vauxhall. If PSA could undo the damage that Rootes Group ownership did, then that would be something special indeed. Maybe the proverbial corner is being turned? Thanks EVM. 🙂👍
I see it has the same problem as the e208/2008 where the graph for energy usage goes up to 125 so even if you are doing 4-5 miles/kWh you can barely see it - come on PSA sort this out for us Brits!
This kind of shows how much effort-thought was put into this thing at some department. Still from the "do we really have to make it?" mindset, is the vibe i'm getting.
nice bland jelly mould motor, with the range being well under 200 miles I would expect to pay about £200.00pm on a 2 year lease, any more and it wouldn't be a goer for me, the Renault Zoe ZE50 is returning well over 200 miles in our winter runs, I believe that range is the sweet spot for a short range small commuter car.

I prefer the 208 but I'm biased.
Fair play though, for a Vauxhall it is more adventurous than previous attempts.
8:06 “And forward for reverse” - seriously, this is so counterintuitive
I've had numerous Vauxhall over 45 years, some good some not so good. Generally reliable though so I would definitely consider this Corsa-e, but it'd have to be way lower than list price.
Thanks to you have my corsa e 4 months now. Got 5k off demo model. 1st ev! Cheers!
I just got mine with 8 and half grand of getting it Wednesday!
Hi ,
How many miles can you do, full charged?
I like the e208 exterior much better, but I chose the corsa-e over it because of the AC buttons and the fewer shiny plastic bits. I really enjoy driving my Corsa-e, had it since August. The radio sucks, bluetooth is hit and miss and it's laggy af
I get 300km when doing a trip from my town to the city and back, 160km of which are at 120km/h
By the way, Opel is also a part of the PSA group, and Corsa-e is sold as Opel Corsa-e (as seen in 2:17) in some regions
Vauxhall, Opel, Peugeot, Citroen and DS recently merged with Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep etc. so all these brands are likely to be the same cars under the skin in the future with common EV platforms.
I thought Opel was sold as Vauxhall. Same difference really I suppose.
@@dcvariousvids8082 Has been since they stopped making the Manta.
I love my e-208, but I can understand that some people would prefer the 'safer' styling of the Corsa e.
the e-208 is too fussy for me and at the base spec worse with no proper colours.
208 re-badged as Vauxhall corsa you've got same car
Corsa-e charges really fast compared to Leaf, which should make longer journeys easier.
Can I make a suggestion - giving you a possible lead over other reviewers; A lot of the opinions about a car must be based on the new cost, so why not do the review, but then give an idea if possible of how much better the car would be as a second-hand buy at maybe a third off the typical new prices being paid ?
Yes, used prices are normally ignored. This EV has dropped in cost dramatically after a year or two
Not PSA Group... its Stellantis now and includes Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Chrysler and Maserati to name a few... don't you listen to Smith and Sniff podcast ??
When this car was designed and built, it was owned by PSA... 2021, PSA sold up
Unfortunately its like lets take the worlds worst car companies and merge them together.
Why is it never forward for drive and backward for reverse?
because thats the wrong way around!
That is how all European automatic cars are, sounds odd, but works!
I've been asking the same question for years. To me, that would be entirely logical.
I feel this also 😂
I would go for the Corsa over the 208 in terms of looks... Purely because I don't think Peugeot's new grill works well on the smaller cars.
I like the look of the car and the fact that it's very basic inside, not too much technology, but price and lack of range is a bit of an off-putting option.
I prefer the look of the Vauxhall over the Peugeot. It's probably one of the best looking vehicles on the road
Not a Vauxhall fan but the gearstick is nice
Same size as 208!!!
It's very Citroen/Peugeot smack a Citroen or Peugeot badge on it you'd never know
Amazing that should be being a PSA car. The big difference is no stupid shaped steering wheel, or seat material that looks dirty from new.
Not at all, this is very Opel/Vauxhall, but not yet the new type, like the Mokka!
love my little corsa
Had a petrol Vectra for 5 years and you are right, utterly forgettable but it never went wrong and was very cheap to service and maintain . Vauxhall at its best . If I had to I'd have it before the " can't see around the steering wheel " Peugeot any day of the week.
I’m really considering purchasing one of these with free charging at work and there’s 20 plates going from £12k!
Hi. I borrowed one of these yesterday from a dealer and they let me out on my own, and I was impressed. It was a 70 plate top spec with less than 200 miles on the clock, priced at 25k. Too expensive I feel, so like you suggest I would try an e208 before making up my mind.
If a car has 200 miles range with a reasonable price tag then it's fine.
another way to get a discount, is if you go for cars that were ordered, already off the production line, but the customer cancelled.... got a Rav4 with 6k off the price like that... only thing is, you don't get to spec the options..
3:20 sounds like you tapped the top of a Quality Street tin
same age peugeot is around 4-5k more expensive, is it 4-5k more worth the peugeot?
Corsa. Timeless.
I think manufacturers started doing the two tone thing to try and visually disguise the shear bulk of modern cars 😓
Enjoyed the video,Does the Corsa-e have a slow charging cable , eg standard uk 3 pin lead.
Sadly it doesn't come with a 3-pin. We ended up purchasing a 10m cable from Screwfix for £160.
A 0-60 time of 7 seconds is fantastic why would you want it any faster
And it can do faster when the TC is off, the car in Sport and not in B. Best with better tyres than the Primacy 4 ECO rubbish tyres help. Then obviously 4 full size adults makes a difference and stuff in the boot. Not that anyone is timing cars fully loaded. Not even the manufacturer's.
@@georgewalker7061 Mine always wheel spins off the line. Although it has been wet lately. I hadn't considered more weight 😁
@@mattc7014 actually proper tyres make a big difference instead of the Michelin Primacy 4 rubbish as fitted.
@@georgewalker7061 Well I'll need some new tires soon with all the wheel spinning 😁
Re. the 2 tone roof my mam's 2015 blue skoda fabia had a silver roof, and her current silver arona has a black roof ,( seen a few solid colour aronas and they look boring )
At some point in the review I just started paying attention to the parked cars and trying to see if they had a McDonald's or any type of franchise. So many hatchbacks and brown stone buildings
Yes, the mind wanders whenever ever a Vauxhall is in display. Watching paint dry is far more fascinating than looking at any Vauxhall car.
@@TheSmithy225 probably
A fine drive and garage-way it is too!
Remember when Vauxhalls were recognisable with their distinctive bonnet flukes?
PSA buying Opel was horrible. First thing they did was end the Karl which is by far the best big mini car on the market, if they could make that car electric and keep the price low it would just clear the market.
Nonsense ! The Karl and Adam did not sell... so let’s be logic!
Is this comparable to the Citroen ec4? I assume the running gear is much the same but is the ec4 a crossover SUV?
I prefer this over the 208. Especially inside.
They are both a bit down on space to be honest. Even the fiesta is a bit more spacious...
But in EV world I would prefer the experienced Zoe. 10 years of mainstream EV sales does give more confidence of reliability and customer care.
Zoe doesn't have enough toys for me. I like a heated steering wheel and cameras for example
Did I spot a Mini Electric parked behind it?
Nope. That’s my Cooper S
Look what they did to SAAB 🙄
Another useful video by the way 👍🏾
Interior isn't hugely different to the previous gen Vauxhalls to be fair.
I’m guessing the two tone roof was mass produced with the citroen ds3
Superbly helpful thank you.
This is work right - so can’t you ‘go to work’ by walking around the car outside? Maybe drive it somewhere isolated just in case
I can ‘work from home’.
Looks wise inside and out 208 evert time
Does it have that "damp dishcloth smell"
That a lot of vauxhalls have ?
I don't choose a car based on "looks alone". Why would I?
"hot hatch" should be a banned phrase from all car videos ;)
I'd much rather a Peugeot. I absolutely LOVE their current design! I genuinely prefer the 208 over a LaFerrari looks-wise. And the current 508? Possibly THE most beautiful car to have ever hit the roads.
They current Peugeot design is very ugly. Complicated were simple would do. The most beautiful car ever is the Peugeot 406 coupe (1st generation). Simple and elegant makes it timeless. The new ones are fussy and gimmicky.
4:03 “Steeply raked windscreen”. I could have sworn that was the rear of the car ... 😜
Well done, you spotted the deliberate mistake.
Which one would you choose tje least speched Id3 or this CorsaE ?
Why does it have a button with ‘Engine start stop’?
The car has a motor, not an engine.
You are playing on the words!
Why the ‘engine start/stop’ button?? It hasn’t got an engine. Sure other EV’s have this.
This kind of shows how much effort-thought was put into this thing at some department. Still from the "do we really have to make it?" mindset, is the vibe i'm getting.
I'm sure you said "Harmrest" at 8:45 or is it just my ears! :)
If I am not mistaken the start button said engine start. Is Vauxhall/PSA being cheap
As it’s the only example, no. When there are many, yes.
I would choose the Corsa.
Hey Andy, did you ever drive the Vauxhall Ampera (aka Chevy Volt)? Very underrated...
I could live with the looks for the discounts Vauxhall offer. But them if we’re doing comparisons, the MG5 looks like a good deal.
MG5 is great but it's a long car and much too big for daily diving compared to this. I like small cars for city commuting and running around in
Vauxhall mareva design was voted best mini mpv for 2008
nice bland jelly mould motor, with the range being well under 200 miles I would expect to pay about £200.00pm on a 2 year lease, any more and it wouldn't be a goer for me, the Renault Zoe ZE50 is returning well over 200 miles in our winter runs, I believe that range is the sweet spot for a short range small commuter car.
