@@Robert-cu9bm You must be thinking of EVs with a range of around 150 miles. Tesla have vehicles right now with real world ranges over 300 miles. Model S Raven is close to 400 miles. That's close to 4 hours without stopping. Most people need a bio-break before that. Most Tesla vehicles, including all Model 3 I believe, can peak charge at 250kW. Tesla are growing their supercharger network world wide, and it is BAR NONE the easiest way to charge as one simply plugs in and that's it - you are charging. "couple of hours" is no longer the norm for general EVs and its nowhere near the modern capability.

@@Robert-cu9bm You won't find an EV with decent range for £20k, but the EV Database has several good choices around the £32k mark (Skoda, Kia, Hyundai etc). I can't afford a Tesla Model S either. Remember the total cost of ownership for EVs is less than ICE, as long as you can afford an up-front purchase. CarWow and their ilk will find you deals. If you live in Scotland, you could be eligible for an INTEREST FREE LOAN from the Scottish Government for up to £35k to purchase a new EV. Lots of options. But yeah, a "decent range" EV starts at £32k. Best choice, Tesla Model 3 Long Range.
@@Robert-cu9bm OK, so it's not set in law, but Rule 91 of the UK Highway Code states "A minimum break of at least 15 minutes after every 2 hours of driving is recommended" The average journey speed in the UK was last recorded (in 2016) as being just 59.5mph (down from 60.6mph the year before) - you could imagine, with ever increasing volumes of cars and lorries on UK roads, that this figure would now be even lower 5 years later on to present day. So, 2 or even 3 hours' driving would only be about 120-180 miles distance covered - well within the capability of the vast majority of EVs. I mean, even the sub£20k Skoda CityGo IV, when it was on sale, was able to do over 150 miles 'real world' range, whilst today's deals on a Renault Zoe bring that 208 mile 'real world' range car down to sub£25k or sub£200 pm on finance - that's a car with climate control, sat nav, auto gearbox, adaptive cruise, LED headlights etc So, absolutely not a bobby-basic, tin box spec. And, as others have said, the running costs for EVs are significantly less - to do 370 miles in an ICE car for £25, at about £6 per gallon, you'd have to be getting nearly 90mpg...! Then, there's £0 road tax and servicing at around 60% the cost of an ICE car. For those lucky enough to be able to charge overnight at home, you could be paying just 5p per kWh - to do 100 miles in my 5 year old, £9k Nissan Leaf costs me about £1.25, about 1/10 of what it costs in my wife's 50mpg super-mini. I appreciate that there are still many, MANY sceptical people out there, who, understandably in a lot of cases, don't like the thought of change - especially, where changes are being forced on them by the Government - but, transportation accounts for around 21% of global emissions so every old ICE car / bus / lorry / train / plane (?) that can be swapped to a zero-emission version is surely an aim worth working towards. :-)
The Corsa-e is the first of future cheaper EVs - got one as my first car in the UK and I think given the size of the country and the road types it's an excellent car.
One of my favourite Symons blogs - albeit mainly because of the (entirely justifiable) Guy Martin inspired rant at the end. But didn’t the little Corsa do well? Really impressed. Demonstrating yet again the very practicable driving and charging routine used to cover long distances in cars with around 150 miles range. Thanks again for another really good piece of EV reportage.

I don't know how I missed this when it was released. Fantastic to show that even a humble Corsa e is a viable car for the vast majority of the needs of ordinary people with their everyday lives. Thanks for this. 👍
Even my ancient 30kwh LEAF will do 100 miles a day in any conditions. Admittedly Chademo charging availability is it's weak point but I charge from home 99% of the time. It's apparent, in 2024, that we're fast approaching a point where useable 250 mile (250 + 25 buffer) ranges will become standard. That's literally all I need. The LFP battery in the Model 3 means I can plug in at home and wake up every morning to >200 miles in the tank. What's not to love about that?
For a real time comparison you can be counted on to deliver the true stats. As always you have captured the essence of what it takes to give a brilliant honest to goodness review. Can always count on "RSEV" to be given the facts that we can rely on.
I just love... love... love these back-to-back, real-world driving comparisons, Rich...! And, this one still goes to show just how dominant-a-force the Tesla Model 3 is when it comes to efficiency and range - for a 100kg heavier, BMW 3 Series-sized car to 'beat' a lighter-weight supermini for efficiency is really quite remarkable. Great work, as always... :-)
Some people’s minds refuse to be changed. They harp on about needing 500 miles range. I’ve got family members like that who won’t hear anything. Other reasons is that the national grid can’t cope. Yet I saw an interview on top gear with the chief of the national grid who said it can cope and owns a Tesla himself! Personally, I love the idea of electric. I’m just not in a position to be able to get one yet but I bang the drum to whoever will listen (and those who won’t!) By the way, love your videos a lot. I was an electric fan anyway. You spend so much time showing just how usable they are that I’ve just become more of a fan. Keep up the vids and flying the flag for electric. Between watching you and Bjorn, an interest in electric cars for me has grown and watch nearly all the videos you guys post! (Mat Watson does some good ones too!). Thanks for all your material and education that will come in handy one day for us as a family.

I think this all originated in about 2017 when the Daily Fail misquoted a National Grid report, prompting a sharp written rebuttal from the report authors. My father-in-law (Telegraph and Daily Mail reader in his 80s) visited for Christmas and we popped to the shops to pick up a few bits. When it was new, a full charge gave 186 miles on the GOM, I had fully charged it the night before (something I rarely do, but there was the possibility we were going to visit some other relatives) and the car was reading 177 miles on the GOM. I wouldn't trust the GOM versus a proper battery health check, but that is 9 miles loss in 4 years and 66,000 miles or 95% original range. I suspect the figure is really more between a 5 - 10% drop as the GOM depends on recent drive factors so is variable (that's an understatement). All the same, while on the way to the shop my father in law was asking how we were getting on with the car as he was enjoying the smooth drive (genuine interest, he wasn't being funny or anything), so I showed him the numbers and how little the range had dropped over 4 years and over 60,000 miles. His reply, open mouthed was "That's not what we've been told!" And there is the problem. Falsehoods being spread to generate media profits and old-guard industries protecting themselves from change. As the saying goes, "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain. There ARE issues with EVs that are different and disadvantageous compared to ICE cars, but the tales being peddled are not the ones that are relevant. One of my favourites, as it is Winter, is range loss. EVs typically lose between 15 and 30% of their range in Winter compared to Summer. Some can even lose up to 40$ in really bad conditions. What they don't tell you is that ICE cars lose between 10 - 20% in the same circumstances. Yes, EVs suffer more (at the moment......) but the difference compared to ICE cars is a lot less than people are told. Why? Because when you have the full dataset, the story becomes a lot less relevant and emotional. That doesn't help the media gain clicks, or legacy industry to protect it self - so it is left hidden.
I have the exact same Corsa. In summer, warmer weather, I get 4 miles/kW on the motorway doing 65 to 70 mph which seams to be the sweet spot for me. On ordinary roads 4.1 miles. I have seen a 99kW charging rate once when I used an IONITY charger and the ambient temperature was in the 30’s. Loving driving electric.

Thanks for another great video. Yer ev are very easy to do road trips we did 1250 miles in a week to Scotland at the end of July and on relaxing holiday.! And this month done 1360 miles so far ! And 15000 + miles in last 14 months with lockdowns in a Zoe ze50 as been great experience!
I have just returned from a trip to Southampton from Lincoln area. Almost 400 mile round trip in my Kia E Niro 4+. Mostly 70MPH on the way down and averaged 3.7 miles/kWh at end of trip there, with about 42 miles range left. Picked up a free 7kWh charger in a carpark and it fully charged me back to 100%. Return journey was busier and involved lots of re routes around the motorway snarl ups. I arrived home with 94 miles of range left and averaged 4.4 miles/kWh. My theoretical range was higher than the one claimed by Kia, being at 282 miles!! Long journeys are easy in an EV with a little thought about where and when to charge. Another great video!
Completely agree with your rant. I sell EV's as a hobby and recently took the family (2 adults + 2 young kids) on holiday in a Leaf I had in stock (62kW). We actually had no charging at our accommodation during the first week. Managed just under 1000 miles over the holiday with literally no range anxiety or other issue whatsoever. I will say the UK is going to need far more rapid chargers at Supermarkets etc for those without home charging or roadside chargers, in the future, but it will happen (and many trials currently ongoing to develop these).
As far as I could see, they planned a 1.5 hour show on the fastest car segment, but it was so quick and easy, they were left with 40-45 mins to fill. So it was filled with disjointed snippets, some positive some negative, with no real thread between them. And then after driving 1200 miles to John o groats and back in a day, declared that EVs were only good for going 50 miles and back. All remarkably odd. A show that needs a full reedit down to 30 mins I think
Hi. I'm working yesterday way through your useful videos. One very useful thing to cover would be insurance costs. I'm interested in the model 3 and the insurance group is right up at the very high end. I guess that's due to the performance level. A bit of coverage of this important aspect would not go amiss. Well done Richard. I'm driving my M3LR to Bordeaux area in France from England in a month or so with bike rack and 2 e-bikes on the back. Will be interesting to see how that affects range, but being Tesla there'll be no range (or should that be charger) anxiety.
@@maxflight777 It was great. Reduced range with bikes on the back but only 10% or so. No problems with Superchargers. Used granny lead a couple of times and charging in France on granny lead even slower than UK due to 220v supply I presume.

Thank you for the great comparison video Richard! About Guy Martin, I think especially in the UK there are many ignorant people about EV’s. Legacy automakers to blame for this as many of them were brainwashing their customers and delaying or purposefully not developing their EV’s. I also thank you for refurbishing my wheels and door trim and fixing my door handle on my Model S.😊👌
Done this myself 2 times this summer back and forth e.g. 2 times 310 miles. Two stops is what I needed for one way, 310 miles, and so did my car, a e-208 with 4 people and luggage and one time it was pouring rain even, but no problem! 👍🏻 The new software update also helps because it will even more shorten the charging time.
I have an E-golf, it is supposed to have 144 miles range which drops to 100 in the middle of winter. But on one journey going into London I actually managed 180 miles with 5 miles left. I missed the guy Martin program, but now I'm not too upset. Did find having to charge up while going to get something to eat more convenient than eating & then filling up with diesel & big bonus no smell of diesel on your hands!!
You should take an Ë-C4 for the comparaison! Car's shape is really important for efficiency, and it is for that Ë-C4 have more range with the same power train...
on my Ora funky cat in eco mode it limits the speed to 55 mph, dealer said its normal and not faulty, on a recent long trip of 700 miles return mine indicated 249 watts per mile
Thanks for doing this video and actually mentioning the cost of charging. Most people focus on the range and time to change, the cost is the most important to me. My commute is 50 miles per day, so range isn’t that important. But if it cost me £15 per day to charge that’s a different problem. So your summary of the cost was ideal, thanks
I did 300 miles in a 34Kw/h E-Up the other day..no issues at all! There is definitely a lot of ignorance about EV'S but I think manufacturers should communicate more about the recycling process of batteries. In the next videos, would you mind also talking about the consumption and range in Kw/100 kms (for all your RUclips fans that live the other side of the pond 😂). Cheers..
Spot on mate! Good review I'm loving my Zoe GT LINE it only charges up to 50kw but in practise fast enough as with over 200 range from the usable 52kw battery. What's great is the 21kw onboard AC charger. Very useful i have found it to be.
I really wish electricity would be that cheap in germany... The prices here are almost piracy.. 39ct/kWh (public AC) / 49ct/kWh (public DC) and 40ct / kWh (Supercharger) Good video overall and great statement at the end!
Great video, couldn't agree more. Had my e208 (Same as Corsa) for a mth and covered over 2K miles. Just back from Norfolk, 500 mile round trip with free charging & referrals total cost £10. I'd add we had 100M to get Home charged for 20 mins to 160M range & Arr with 18m left. Always over estimate the milage you need, but if you stop every 2 hrs & charge you'll have no issues with range
Great video, awesome to see the excellent Corsa against the benchmark Model 3, the Corsa looks like really good value, and we need affordable EVs - I think around 50kWh hatchbacks are going to be where the EV transition really picks up speed in the UK and Europe. Your rant at the end is spot on, I see so many high profile motoring journalists finally doing their job and only just starting to cover and drive EVs, the Guardian's John O Groats article from Sam Wollaston was also annoying, it's written from a 'first time ever' perspective - I get that EVs can be confusing for the first week, or the first long trip, but that's it, one week of adjusting, and you are good to go, the range anxiety goes away, and the savings begin!
Just bought corsa e, First 300 mile trip great, only problem not enough working chargers. Also not enough at each service station. I was lucky in being able to get straight on working one each time but there always seemed to be a queue before I finished charging & one time a stroppy woman pushed the emergency stop button while I was sat in the car . When I confronted her she said she done it because she wanted to charge her car. If I had been away from the car she could have got away with it.
Had our corsa e for 5 months now. Did Manchester > Bristol and only charged for 15 minutes at Gloucester services as I needed the toilet. In 15c weather, 65mph motorway, 160 miles is easily doable. I'd happily do 400 miles in a day in it.
How about repeating Guy Martins journey in a Tesla to show the other end of the scale? I recon you could do it 6 hours faster than he did it in an M3 LR. or even make it a group test of various EV's

What a perfect video for me as I would get the Model 3 SR+ for my next car as going EV next but its a bit big and a bit expensive for me so I'm looking at the e-208 and since it's basically the same car as the Corsa e but better looking it was great to see while it can't match a Model 3 it can at least stack up well with it but being quite a bit cheaper and for me perfectly sized 😁 Also great speech at the end!

Stopping and going around things like roundabouts should actually be good for ev’s considering the lower speeds they have to be at for taking turns and the energy gained from regen.
I agree totally, I have ordered a Tesla 3, I had one on test for a week and I really looked forwards to Guys programme but I totally disagree with his findings… by the way I do 25k a year, not just the shop run..
Agree it's really annoying regarding miss information. Seems to be a lot of it going around. It be great when your doing your comparison videos to show the costs of charging for each car. I was really surprised recently at how expensive ionity are compaired to a supercharger.
Ionity is basically there for Taycans and Audi GT’s. It is cheap if have a Porsche/audi card (30p) but otherwise yes it’s £.069. What that does is stop them being clogged up and keeps them available. I suspect if Tesla open their superchargers it will be expensive. But at least they’re there if needed.
Totally agree with what you say about EV’s. I own a Corsa e elite nav 20 plate so your video was very interesting. Your range at 70 mph is spot on. You can get the best range with the cruise control on but the difference is only slight. Whilst on holiday in Scotland recently I was getting 5 miles/kW pottering about on narrow country lanes and B roads with a 20 speed limit in every village. Normal mode on regen on and hvac set to 19. Overall average for trip 4.5 m/kW. Chorley Lancs to Kelso and back. My one gripe with the car is the battery level indicator which includes the reserved capacity in its range. That is the last 7 or 8 %. Basically you have to rely on the GOM as you can’t get to zero on the gauge. I am looking to change the car when my PCP ends next year. Technology has moved on. We now have better Sat Navs, battery pre heating, bigger batteries, more efficiency and more choice. Great video.
6% battery charge remaining when you get to the charger? What a luxuriously high number! I'm doing my longer commute in a 24 kilowatt hour 2015 Nissan leaf and 6% sounds like a welcome high number. Lucky. Once an owner gets familiar with their vehicle, 6% is actually an ideal number to arrive at a charging station with -much faster charging at a low state of charge.
So what do you think of the corsa? Personally I think it’s better looking than the model 3, it’ still looks like a car with a ‘face’ rather than a non descriptive jelly mould.

Great review but just wondered if it is legal to drive while using a walkie talkie (what's the difference in usage between that and a mobile phone ?) and quite a few times you had no hands on the steering wheel,not clever or safe for other road users !
The difference is the frequency. In the The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2003 section 110 two way radios are excluded. Mobile phones are basically described by a specific bunch of frequencies, anything outside of them (such as 446 Mhz license free two way radios) are fine. Obviously you can still get in trouble if it affects your driving.
Couple of things to take in to account, the model 3 probably has a bit of battery degredation as it is slightly older and it's also the older version with no heat pump, so the newer version will probably fare slightly better.
Wery good insights at the end. Even if you're unlucky and your ev doesnt perform as good as you would hope, your still doing the environment a huge favor. And in comparison to petrol cars, evs are at worst much more funny and reliable.
If you looked at the choice of dash and compared the kWh on the screen in front and the middle screen you would have seen that they are telling different figures. I hope you try a e-Corsa again and use Normal or Sport and coming down in speed use the shifter back to B. Do it side by side with a Tesla. It is just like dropping a gear, it is the only additional choice the PSA cars give you.

Now, over a year into the future and there's an approved used Corsa-e with only 29k miles on the clock for under £17k! Found one parked next to a Golf the other day and it's only slightly smaller, so may well be my 1st EV!? Prefer the look of the 308 but now (in the future) it's about £1k to £1.5k more expensive!
Quite a few companies insist that drivers stop for a break every 2 hours anyway. As I get older I need to stop this frequently anyway. So I. Not sure I’ll ever have range issues in a modern ev. Old bladders will save the day.😊

You'd think someone as keen on speed as Guy Martin would absolutely love EVs, particularly Teslas. Even the cheapest Model 3 can do 0-60 in 5.5s if you need it to, and it has a decent real-world range.

And, this one still goes to show just how dominant-a-force the Tesla Model 3 is when it comes to efficiency and range - for a 100kg heavier, BMW 3 Series-sized car to 'beat' a lighter-weight supermini for efficiency is really quite remarkable.

Some people’s minds refuse to be changed. They harp on about needing 500 miles range. I’ve got family members like that who won’t hear anything. Other reasons is that the national grid can’t cope. Yet I saw an interview on top gear with the chief of the national grid who said it can cope and owns a Tesla himself! Personally, I love the idea of electric. I’m just not in a position to be able to get one yet but I bang the drum to whoever will listen (and those who won’t!) By the way, love your videos a lot. I was an electric fan anyway. You spend so much time showing just how usable they are that I’ve just become more of a fan. Keep up the vids and flying the flag for electric. Between watching you and Bjorn, an interest in electric cars for me has grown and watch nearly all the videos you guys post! (Mat Watson does some good ones too!). Thanks for all your material and education that will come in handy one day for us as a family.

I think this all originated in about 2017 when the Daily Fail misquoted a National Grid report, prompting a sharp written rebuttal from the report authors.
Robert Llewellyn had referenced this many times.

My father-in-law (Telegraph and Daily Mail reader in his 80s) visited for Christmas and we popped to the shops to pick up a few bits. When it was new, a full charge gave 186 miles on the GOM, I had fully charged it the night before (something I rarely do, but there was the possibility we were going to visit some other relatives) and the car was reading 177 miles on the GOM. I wouldn't trust the GOM versus a proper battery health check, but that is 9 miles loss in 4 years and 66,000 miles or 95% original range. I suspect the figure is really more between a 5 - 10% drop as the GOM depends on recent drive factors so is variable (that's an understatement).
All the same, while on the way to the shop my father in law was asking how we were getting on with the car as he was enjoying the smooth drive (genuine interest, he wasn't being funny or anything), so I showed him the numbers and how little the range had dropped over 4 years and over 60,000 miles. His reply, open mouthed was "That's not what we've been told!"
And there is the problem. Falsehoods being spread to generate media profits and old-guard industries protecting themselves from change. As the saying goes, "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain.
There ARE issues with EVs that are different and disadvantageous compared to ICE cars, but the tales being peddled are not the ones that are relevant.
One of my favourites, as it is Winter, is range loss.
EVs typically lose between 15 and 30% of their range in Winter compared to Summer. Some can even lose up to 40$ in really bad conditions. What they don't tell you is that ICE cars lose between 10 - 20% in the same circumstances. Yes, EVs suffer more (at the moment......) but the difference compared to ICE cars is a lot less than people are told. Why? Because when you have the full dataset, the story becomes a lot less relevant and emotional. That doesn't help the media gain clicks, or legacy industry to protect it self - so it is left hidden.
I have the exact same Corsa. In summer, warmer weather, I get 4 miles/kW on the motorway doing 65 to 70 mph which seams to be the sweet spot for me. On ordinary roads 4.1 miles. I have seen a 99kW charging rate once when I used an IONITY charger and the ambient temperature was in the 30’s. Loving driving electric.

Thanks for another great video. Yer ev are very easy to do road trips we did 1250 miles in a week to Scotland at the end of July and on relaxing holiday.! And this month done 1360 miles so far ! And 15000 + miles in last 14 months with lockdowns in a Zoe ze50 as been great experience!

I have just returned from a trip to Southampton from Lincoln area. Almost 400 mile round trip in my Kia E Niro 4+. Mostly 70MPH on the way down and averaged 3.7 miles/kWh at end of trip there, with about 42 miles range left. Picked up a free 7kWh charger in a carpark and it fully charged me back to 100%. Return journey was busier and involved lots of re routes around the motorway snarl ups. I arrived home with 94 miles of range left and averaged 4.4 miles/kWh. My theoretical range was higher than the one claimed by Kia, being at 282 miles!!
Long journeys are easy in an EV with a little thought about where and when to charge. Another great video!
Completely agree with your rant. I sell EV's as a hobby and recently took the family (2 adults + 2 young kids) on holiday in a Leaf I had in stock (62kW). We actually had no charging at our accommodation during the first week. Managed just under 1000 miles over the holiday with literally no range anxiety or other issue whatsoever. I will say the UK is going to need far more rapid chargers at Supermarkets etc for those without home charging or roadside chargers, in the future, but it will happen (and many trials currently ongoing to develop these).
Just a year later and you can now get a 70 reg Vauxhall Corsa e like this one from as little as £12k!
As far as I could see, they planned a 1.5 hour show on the fastest car segment, but it was so quick and easy, they were left with 40-45 mins to fill. So it was filled with disjointed snippets, some positive some negative, with no real thread between them. And then after driving 1200 miles to John o groats and back in a day, declared that EVs were only good for going 50 miles and back. All remarkably odd. A show that needs a full reedit down to 30 mins I think

Hi. I'm working yesterday way through your useful videos. One very useful thing to cover would be insurance costs. I'm interested in the model 3 and the insurance group is right up at the very high end. I guess that's due to the performance level. A bit of coverage of this important aspect would not go amiss. Well done Richard. I'm driving my M3LR to Bordeaux area in France from England in a month or so with bike rack and 2 e-bikes on the back. Will be interesting to see how that affects range, but being Tesla there'll be no range (or should that be charger) anxiety.

@@maxflight777 It was great. Reduced range with bikes on the back but only 10% or so. No problems with Superchargers. Used granny lead a couple of times and charging in France on granny lead even slower than UK due to 220v supply I presume.

About Guy Martin, I think especially in the UK there are many ignorant people about EV’s. Legacy automakers to blame for this as many of them were brainwashing their customers and delaying or purposefully not developing their EV’s.
I also thank you for refurbishing my wheels and door trim and fixing my door handle on my Model S.😊👌
Done this myself 2 times this summer back and forth e.g. 2 times 310 miles. Two stops is what I needed for one way, 310 miles, and so did my car, a e-208 with 4 people and luggage and one time it was pouring rain even, but no problem! 👍🏻 The new software update also helps because it will even more shorten the charging time.
I have an E-golf, it is supposed to have 144 miles range which drops to 100 in the middle of winter. But on one journey going into London I actually managed 180 miles with 5 miles left.
I missed the guy Martin program, but now I'm not too upset.
Did find having to charge up while going to get something to eat more convenient than eating & then filling up with diesel & big bonus no smell of diesel on your hands!!
The Vauxhall / Opel is a very nice car. The Vauxhall loves the town, narrow roads and do not fear the highway.

The Corsa-E can do one peddle driving too, you need to pull the gear shifter again to change it from "D" to "B" mode.
I've got it but it lacks the proper "one pedal" system, the regen system is not that strong. I live the car though.

I did 300 miles in a 34Kw/h E-Up the other day..no issues at all! There is definitely a lot of ignorance about EV'S but I think manufacturers should communicate more about the recycling process of batteries. In the next videos, would you mind also talking about the consumption and range in Kw/100 kms (for all your RUclips fans that live the other side of the pond 😂). Cheers..

Spot on mate! Good review I'm loving my Zoe GT LINE it only charges up to 50kw but in practise fast enough as with over 200 range from the usable 52kw battery. What's great is the 21kw onboard AC charger. Very useful i have found it to be.

Great video, couldn't agree more. Had my e208 (Same as Corsa) for a mth and covered over 2K miles. Just back from Norfolk, 500 mile round trip with free charging & referrals total cost £10. I'd add we had 100M to get Home charged for 20 mins to 160M range & Arr with 18m left. Always over estimate the milage you need, but if you stop every 2 hrs & charge you'll have no issues with range
Great video, awesome to see the excellent Corsa against the benchmark Model 3, the Corsa looks like really good value, and we need affordable EVs - I think around 50kWh hatchbacks are going to be where the EV transition really picks up speed in the UK and Europe.
Your rant at the end is spot on, I see so many high profile motoring journalists finally doing their job and only just starting to cover and drive EVs, the Guardian's John O Groats article from Sam Wollaston was also annoying, it's written from a 'first time ever' perspective - I get that EVs can be confusing for the first week, or the first long trip, but that's it, one week of adjusting, and you are good to go, the range anxiety goes away, and the savings begin!

Just bought corsa e, First 300 mile trip great, only problem not enough working chargers. Also not enough at each service station. I was lucky in being able to get straight on working one each time but there always seemed to be a queue before I finished charging & one time a stroppy woman pushed the emergency stop button while I was sat in the car . When I confronted her she said she done it because she wanted to charge her car. If I had been away from the car she could have got away with it.
The more I watch the more I like. Fair play, screw guy.... Pick up my Tesla tomorrow 👏👍
Had our corsa e for 5 months now. Did Manchester > Bristol and only charged for 15 minutes at Gloucester services as I needed the toilet. In 15c weather, 65mph motorway, 160 miles is easily doable. I'd happily do 400 miles in a day in it.

What a perfect video for me as I would get the Model 3 SR+ for my next car as going EV next but its a bit big and a bit expensive for me so I'm looking at the e-208 and since it's basically the same car as the Corsa e but better looking it was great to see while it can't match a Model 3 it can at least stack up well with it but being quite a bit cheaper and for me perfectly sized 😁

Stopping and going around things like roundabouts should actually be good for ev’s considering the lower speeds they have to be at for taking turns and the energy gained from regen.
I agree totally, I have ordered a Tesla 3, I had one on test for a week and I really looked forwards to Guys programme but I totally disagree with his findings… by the way I do 25k a year, not just the shop run..

Agree it's really annoying regarding miss information. Seems to be a lot of it going around.
It be great when your doing your comparison videos to show the costs of charging for each car. I was really surprised recently at how expensive ionity are compaired to a supercharger.
Ionity is basically there for Taycans and Audi GT’s. It is cheap if have a Porsche/audi card (30p) but otherwise yes it’s £.069. What that does is stop them being clogged up and keeps them available.
I suspect if Tesla open their superchargers it will be expensive. But at least they’re there if needed.
Well it's pretty clear that just a little bit over 50% of UK voters are very easy to influence with miss information. *waves from inside the EU. ;)

Well said, great to see one of the “cheaper” electric cars put on a real world test.
Totally agree with what you say about EV’s. I own a Corsa e elite nav 20 plate so your video was very interesting. Your range at 70 mph is spot on. You can get the best range with the cruise control on but the difference is only slight. Whilst on holiday in Scotland recently I was getting 5 miles/kW pottering about on narrow country lanes and B roads with a 20 speed limit in every village. Normal mode on regen on and hvac set to 19. Overall average for trip 4.5 m/kW. Chorley Lancs to Kelso and back.
My one gripe with the car is the battery level indicator which includes the reserved capacity in its range. That is the last 7 or 8 %. Basically you have to rely on the GOM as you can’t get to zero on the gauge.
I am looking to change the car when my PCP ends next year. Technology has moved on. We now have better Sat Navs, battery pre heating, bigger batteries, more efficiency and more choice. Great video.

6% battery charge remaining when you get to the charger? What a luxuriously high number! I'm doing my longer commute in a 24 kilowatt hour 2015 Nissan leaf and 6% sounds like a welcome high number. Lucky. Once an owner gets familiar with their vehicle, 6% is actually an ideal number to arrive at a charging station with -much faster charging at a low state of charge.
So what do you think of the corsa? Personally I think it’s better looking than the model 3, it’ still looks like a car with a ‘face’ rather than a non descriptive jelly mould.

Great review but just wondered if it is legal to drive while using a walkie talkie (what's the difference in usage between that and a mobile phone ?) and quite a few times you had no hands on the steering wheel,not clever or safe for other road users !
The difference is the frequency. In the The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2003 section 110
two way radios are excluded. Mobile phones are basically described by a specific bunch of frequencies, anything outside of them (such as 446 Mhz license free two way radios) are fine. Obviously you can still get in trouble if it affects your driving.

Couple of things to take in to account, the model 3 probably has a bit of battery degredation as it is slightly older and it's also the older version with no heat pump, so the newer version will probably fare slightly better.
It says the percentage in the car on the dash when you are charging and you open the door.
Wery good insights at the end. Even if you're unlucky and your ev doesnt perform as good as you would hope, your still doing the environment a huge favor. And in comparison to petrol cars, evs are at worst much more funny and reliable.
If you looked at the choice of dash and compared the kWh on the screen in front and the middle screen you would have seen that they are telling different figures. I hope you try a e-Corsa again and use Normal or Sport and coming down in speed use the shifter back to B. Do it side by side with a Tesla. It is just like dropping a gear, it is the only additional choice the PSA cars give you.

I’ve not long put in an order for a Model 3 SR+ and just wondered if someone who does as many miles on wigglies as you do if that scenario had ever been encountered… glad to hear not. That boosts confidence for me. Ta 👍🏻
We did it once, deliberately, for a carwow video. Two Teslas and a polestar 100% to zero and dead.
I finished up in the polestar 🤦♂️
Now, over a year into the future and there's an approved used Corsa-e with only 29k miles on the clock for under £17k!
Found one parked next to a Golf the other day and it's only slightly smaller, so may well be my 1st EV!?
Prefer the look of the 308 but now (in the future) it's about £1k to £1.5k more expensive!
Quite a few companies insist that drivers stop for a break every 2 hours anyway. As I get older I need to stop this frequently anyway. So I. Not sure I’ll ever have range issues in a modern ev. Old bladders will save the day.😊

You'd think someone as keen on speed as Guy Martin would absolutely love EVs, particularly Teslas. Even the cheapest Model 3 can do 0-60 in 5.5s if you need it to, and it has a decent real-world range.
