As someone with more time/kills on NSO than most players, Newton is currently the best primary weapon in the game and yes it needs a nerf. But if/when it gets a nerf hopefully other parts of the NSO arsenal get buffed up to compensate.

If you can even remotely aim for the head, the increased projectile size will make you pop heads in cqb like they are corn under a flame. I've been grinding because I want this thing on my medic too. Honestly, half the time I use this gun I feel like cheating. It's like having day 1 release unstable ammo Canis all over again. It has been my quickest aurax medal in the game. It's that good. Going back to any other weapon after using the Newton is like going back from a Ferrari to your old crumbling station wagon. Its only downside is its tiny magazine and limited ammo pool forcing you to run something like ammo belt or ammo printer not to run out of ammo while you are stomping a tower or a building.

It sorta reminds me of the Volt from Titanfall. Especially when used in the light assault class. Medium rate of fire, modest-ish damage, and accurate enough to never need to ADS (only this Newton thing... can't ADS to begin with).
The directive weapon system in PlanetSide2 is one of the most awesome, yet squandered systems in gaming. How do you have unique gems like this, Beetlejuice, or Godsaw, then just phoned in non-unique phoned in junk.
"The Newton's hipfire can't hold a candle to the ADS accuracy of conventional weapons." Not exactly. With a laser sight, the Newton has a 0.67 COF. The Gauss SAW, headhunter extraordinaire, has an ADS COF of 0.55. So I'd definitely say the Newton can hold a candle to conventional ADS accuracy
Not entirely correctly, the NC7 Gauss Saw has an ADS C.O.F. of 0.4 while moving and standing, and when standing a perfect 0. There's certainly a downgrade in accuracy.
Just a heads up for players doing the NSO carbines directive. Newton is totally worth it (especially with drifter jets), but it is a painful journey to get there. Good luck with CB-100, CB-200 and Tanto. Luckily there's NS-11C and CB-X75. I'd save those two last.
I'd love to use this weapon but ever since performance update last year I've had about 0.5 seconds of input lag (or client not detecting bullets) So I have to resort to pump shotguns and vehicle play to stand a chance anymore.

In respect of your need to grind out play time with each carbine, it's a small idea that may help lighten your load (should you ever read this). Why not look at any videos of awesome plays/loads of kills with a specific weapon or type of weapon be used and considered to help shorten the playstyle and also show off the ability of said weapons in varying playstyles as everyone is different. :)

This is the perfect example of directive weapon design. Unique, powerful, fun. To be honest i think built-in "unstable ammo" is a bit to much, especially without headshot debuff. Other than that it is completely fine weapon and i don't understand why it recieves so much hate from victims (again, excluding that unnessesary "easy mode" bullets). One of the best carabines in the game. Top 5 in my personal list, alongside with Tanto, Horizon, AC-X11 and Pulsar C.
Well I think the unnecessary grapefruit sized bullets with the full HS multiplier are the entire reason it gets hate, which is justified. You can literally hipfire beam people at like 30+m while flying through the air 4x faster than a ground strafe. That’s busted enough to deserve some criticism

And on top of that, how many people intend on looking at it from a critical perspective as opposed to just enjoying it without saying anything. That's not a dig at anyone in particular, just how some choose to approach game balance (which I can't say I blame).
I haven't got this directive reward, but from how it's described, Newton looks like the result of going in the complete opposite direction from the Horizon of VS and somehow still end up at a near proximity, though I don't think that comparison will do this gun a favor. A small starting COF still loses to the zero starting COF of the Horizon even while flying. It's lacking at range while the Horizon (with Capsulate Ammunition) can become a legit mid-to-long range option. Larger projectile size makes the Newton more rookie-friendly as opposed to the high skill floor of the Horizon (you put your aim right at the spot or you miss), which is... kinda bizarre that this trait is in a directive reward weapon.
The Horizon has "0" starting COF but it does have spread all the same. It is literally impossible for a Horizon projectile to land on your crosshair, for example. But aside from that, the Newton has other advantages: - ability to equip impulse launcher/suppressor - double the max damage range - superior damage model - higher ADS move speed - when you get a hitmarker, you don't have to guess whether it did full damage or half damage
I'm wondering why it took you so long to get to this weapon. Were you saving the video for as long as possible, enjoying the weapon until the nerf, or were you simply slow in acquiring it? I'm asking because most self-respecting tryhards on my tryhard server already have it.
There's a shotgun I saw a blue fella using, he would sprint around our sunderer and get free one shot downs to the chest. Extremely unfair, one guy held down 12 people with single shots running in a circle, and we as fresh spawns couldn't even do anything for the second we were alive. It only stopped when he got bored. I don't know the name of the shotgun, but it needs to be deleted (Edit) good lord look at the Newton go, if I didn't see this video and just saw it in action I'd think this was cheats. I can assume I'll see everyone using this real soon

I can't stand this weapon, it has no drawbacks with the increased bullet size. TR trades off headshot damage for increased leg damage. VS trades off headshot damage for bigger bullet size. The Newton gets no damage reduction to headshots and has insane accuracy with a decent RPM.

CB-ARX Newton is basically a NERFED VE-C Horizon. VE-C Horizon does everything better IMO...the Accuracy is better, you have legit ADS, does more damage..only thing it loses out on is RoF but who cares if you do more damage, TTK is basically the same(VE-C Horizone edges it out).....Considering you have to unlock the newton, is not that impressive when compared the VE-C Horizon. So yeah the CB-ARX isn't busted at all in my eyes....I hope a bunch of n00bs dont overhype this weapon that we get a nerf.
while flying as a LA, the horizon will split the 3 projectiles horizontaly which (depending on the distance or the ammo type you are running) makes you lose 2/3 of your damage output. Horizon is a very good weapon but I can't even count on my fingers how many time I lost the 1v1 against a newton LA while we were both flying. An'd I'm using my NSO just for the newton like a few players on Emerald do, yikes! Tell me it's not OP in the right hands ; )
@@GeoBGO I use the ammo that's splits into two....That thing is deadly accurate in hipfire, I can beat people who are in decent ADS range simply because the accuracy is so good and I strafe/move so fast with hipfire that ADS players are thrown off. Im Constantly flying as a Drifter LA, the accuracy you get from far distances while orbiting around people at full speed is insane....They simply can't hit you, while you have a literally dot on the screen, that is your accuracy lol. Add in the fact, that Horizon has legit ADS(although I like hipfire even at a distance better sometimes because of the moverment speed).....I feel is an overall better gun and it can beat the newton in PURE Air to Air combat from what I seen....they're pretty equal guns, it comes down to the user IMO but farther away, the better it is for the horizon...close range is a toss up, player matters. So yeah IMO, no nerf needed for the Newton, or horizon IMO.

Unstable ammo has a 1.2 headshot multiplier as it is. it used to be 1.6 till they realized it was too strong. Meanwhile the newton gets the full 2.0

while flying as a LA, the horizon will split the 3 projectiles horizontaly which (depending on the distance or the ammo type you are running) makes you lose 2/3 of your damage output.
Horizon is a very good weapon but I can't even count on my fingers how many time I lost the 1v1 against a newton LA while we were both flying.
An'd I'm using my NSO just for the newton like a few players on Emerald do, yikes! Tell me it's not OP in the right hands ; )
@@GeoBGO I use the ammo that's splits into two....That thing is deadly accurate in hipfire, I can beat people who are in decent ADS range simply because the accuracy is so good and I strafe/move so fast with hipfire that ADS players are thrown off.
Im Constantly flying as a Drifter LA, the accuracy you get from far distances while orbiting around people at full speed is insane....They simply can't hit you, while you have a literally dot on the screen, that is your accuracy lol.
Add in the fact, that Horizon has legit ADS(although I like hipfire even at a distance better sometimes because of the moverment speed).....I feel is an overall better gun and it can beat the newton in PURE Air to Air combat from what I seen....they're pretty equal guns, it comes down to the user IMO but farther away, the better it is for the horizon...close range is a toss up, player matters.
So yeah IMO, no nerf needed for the Newton, or horizon IMO.
