Formed in 1968, the original Alice Cooper band forged a theatrical brand of hard rock that was destined to shock and had never been seen before. Within five years they would release no fewer than seven studio albums, amongst them their international breakthrough School's Out (including the Top 10 hit of the same name) and the US #1 Billion Dollar Babies (1973).
By 1974, the band had risen to the upper echelon of rock stardom... and then, it dissolved.
In October 2015, over 40 years later, record store owner and superfan Chris Penn convinced the original line-up to reunite for a very special performance at Good Records, his record store in Dallas, Texas, USA.
Alice Cooper (vocals), Michael Bruce (guitar), Dennis Dunaway (bass) and Neal Smith (drums) were joined on stage by Alice’s current guitarist Ryan Roxie (standing in for the late Glen Buxton). A packed audience was expecting to attend Dennis Dunaway’s Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!’ book signing… but they ended up witnessing a full-blown happening.
The legendary reunion show including all-time classics such as “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, “I’m Eighteen” and “School’s Out”, is now becoming available for the very first time worldwide on September 30, 2022.
Luckily, the event was also filmed. The documentary movie “Live From The Astroturf, Alice Cooper” (edited and directed by Steven Gaddis) was very warmly welcomed at Film Festivals all over the world by music fans as well as rock journalists. The documentary won multiple awards for its coverage
of the historic event.
The movie is included in the live album’s first print CD and Vinyl LP editions.

Seeing AC live back in the late 1970s , he still sounds just as good , a straight up performance here by this line up , the chemistry, naturalness and musicianship is on point , excellent , I would pay to see this in a heartbeat
He has not aged, because he was born "old". Amazing how it stays the same as it was in the 70's.

This was three years ago only, amazing...
His voice and image resisting absolutely intact so many years of touring (and booze back in the day) is one of the weirdest cases of musical "vampirism" I´ve ever met, but not so many people seem to put him on the list of the top musicians of all time for songs. And his career, both recording and live is almost unparalleled.

@@shotdowninflames3466 Thank you. I saw it was published in 2018, so I thought that was also the year it was recorded, but certainly the show was performed in 2015. Anyway what I said still applies, since his 2022 shows are killer (no pun intended) too:)

I bought this CD Set - can't wait to receive it. Video looks and sounds terrific. This is such a huge part of my youth during the early 1970s. Priceless.
First started listening to Love it to Death in 1971 with my Key Club friends. The original albums are never far from another listening. This show is great the bass and drumming as good as it was all the way back then.

Thanks for Alice. Some of singles was just a “ask about “for what, -maybe for horrors and myths””, it is just was as was, written and done as done, but some of them are something learning: literally and “imaginatively”.
This not a modern dumbness and takes some brains for thought about afterlife and living here and now.
If you are eighteen and did not know you future, you must do something, training, learning, working with brains, hands, legs, all body as you are luckiest man in the world. You are young and you have a future between you and your problems or “misunderstandings”. Sorry for not native english. But impressed in my 40 plus years old how music and poetry gave me time and power to think about my dids and which results I almost done for my child’s. Some of them are older 18. They really said that Alice Cooper has his point, but they start to think about why and for what was music and songs of Alice band. They thought about culture and poetry, they learned history of conflicts and building world. It is more about economic and strange history’s of world solutions, but they start thinking about and this is was useful. They don’t look into deep in history after that for searching what was in 50-.60, was in last century… Strange result maybe, maybe for States or Europe… But for East music is like a sand clocks of past time, sand going down in the future time.
Let’s see, will be regrowth to middle of 50-60 years or will be “unknown future of eighteen teenager”.

The magic is still there. I hear something here that I don't hear without the original members. I don't know what. That's why I call it magic. Alice said in an interview there was no rehearsals. It was impromptu. They called him up and asked if he wanted to join the other members at a record store to play.

Indeed. The band had done a line check the night before, just to make sure everything was working, but there were no rehearsals. Alice arrived minutes before the performance. He hadn't even seen Michael Bruce in years (you can catch his first sighting of him in the film just as he walks out on stage. Alice didn't even know what songs he was going to perform until he stepped on the stage and looked down at the setlist that the other band members had decided on. Still nailed it.

I just saw Alice Cooper playing a week or two ago and the man's performance is different when fronting his band and fronting the Alice Cooper Band. Same song, slight difference in delivery. Absolutely loved it!
One of Alice's managers sat next to me at the film's world premiere. He leaned over during the film and told me, "I haven't heard Alice sing this well in decades! The guys really pull something out of his performance!"

Just ordered my DVD
Fans of this clip - which I think sounds like the greatest garage rock band I never heard, buy the vinyl recently released which includes a perfromance DVD and a doc into how it all came together, very casually, by the owner of Good Records in Dallas, where you can buy that. Recent release not getting much publicity. For older AC5 fans this was just too cool. AC and Band bravely go out there and stomp on that sucker.

And of course combined with the fact that it's the original players and then I suppose Ryan being a detailed scholar and committed to the authentic sound?
@@user-xu4ow3bu6f Everyone on the film crew were there to capture the unlikely reunion and 40 minute unrehearsed set. We weren't prepared for how great the performance was going to be. The camera crew and the band were astounded afterwords at how well it went. It wasn't until then that we knew it was going to be a movie.

Almost never. That's why the documentary of this performance is so unique... no makeup, no stage props, just the songs by the original band. And it still holds up.
