Is this 50 year old Pointfighter’s Turning Sidekick better than Joe Rogan’s?

  • The sidekick requires unique hip flexibility in order to perform at high speeds. To be able to perform this kick after 40 y/o at an elite level requires: a proper flexibility routine, a proper training mitigation plan (you cannot overtrain as will lead to hip joint deterioration. Pro tip: limit thrust sidekicks in kata training or open air practice as much as possible. The lazier your sidekick looks when not hitting a target the more your hips will thank you after 50. Avoid overtraining the sidekicks on targets as well, the sidekick utilizes an unnatural hip movement. I’ve known many top side kickers from my 80’s era that have required Orthopedic surgery. Less is more when training kicks at near full speed & power.
