Shame on the Scottish government, they should be leading the way forward to protect
ALL the surrounding area around Culloden.
It really is beggars belief that planners are giving consent to develop so close to the battlefield.
The local council ultimately rubber stamp planning approval, they should bow there heads in shame!!

I can’t fathom why local MPs are allowing this to happen. Culloden is not expendable. Why let a place of such significant to so many people, across the world, be ruined. How can a visitor imagine the scene and feel the atmosphere when they can’t avoid staring into a housing estate. There’s a stench of greed in the air.

Because "Money Talks" either over or under the table............I have visited this place many times and it just pulls at my heart..........always walking away with welled up eyes and I am not even Scottish......just an Ozzie tourist..........All of Scotland should rally around to save this site not just the Trust.

Knowing a bit about this organisation and their metropolitan leadership I doubt our heritage is safe in their hands.

So why build that monstrosity of a visitors centre ? The old visitors centre was much more sympathetic to the surroundings , however I can appreciate that it was unsuitable for the telling of the Culloden story and influx of extra visitors

Why no real archeology here.....no way would they have buried the boys in clan groups.....where was the battleline really?

360° as far as the eye can see off limits. That's an international heritage site.

Culloden matters enormously. I can't bear the thought of it being built around or over. Why is it not a world heritage site, it's far more deserving than some places on the UNESCO list? What are the Scottish and UK Governments doing to support the NTS in the proper and appropriate commemoration of history? I am aghast that the Scottish disapora (of which I am proud to be a part) is being scorned in this way. I have sent a small sum in support from Japan today. I hope it will aid the fight! The battle is not o'er, it has only just started.

There is no appropriate development . Developments are of , by and for giant financial interests and banks and are used to control real estate .

I have a friend looking to buy a modest home in Nairn as she is from the area, but unfortunately house prices are pretty unaffordable for those on average salaries. There does need to be more affordable housing built in and around Inverness.

Yes I’m sure, but not anywhere near this historic site, there are areas with little or no
historic past that should be in contention for people who require affordable housing.
I hope your friend is successful in the quest to find a new home.
