I don't know anime well, but this sounds like a great suggeston for Trevor. Its about something he already knows well, so that will help not only his Japanese, but learning anime tropes.

For anime start with either vinland saga, demon slayer jujutsu kaisen or something else on Netflix. The Pokémon, Dragon ball and Yugioh cartoons were most peoples first introduction to anime in the west. One reason why anime is so popular is because there are so many different genres so there is usually at least one anime for everyone. Anime usually has significantly more story and character development than western cartoons and is more like full blown tv shows rather than your classic cartoons. Hope this helps
Braves fan here. I still fondly remember your ML debut. Always been intrigued by your preparation and approach to pitching. Always been a fan and your vlog has become a staple in my daily work commute. Best of luck in your personal and baseball journey!👍🏻✌🏻
Trevor, you need to go to Round One for the big arcade experience you are thinking of... they have several throughout the greater Tokyo area. I'd recommend going to the Odaiba one!
Trevor, the character you referred to as the "Pig Headed Swordsmith" is Inosuke from the anime Demon Slayer. If you were going to learn about Japanese anime, watching Demon Slayer would actually be the perfect place to start. It is extremely popular in America and in Japan. It's very well animated, good voice acting, good story, and it's got a lot of the common anime tropes. Think you would enjoy it and it would help you learn. (Please watch in Japanese with English subtitles though, especially since you want to learn the language.)
Sorry to hear you've been feeling under the weather. Get better soon, if you were looking for a show to watch I'd highly recommend Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo. 24 episodes for each with an easy-to-follow plot and an awesome soundtrack!
The game at 19:00 is called Gundam EXVS2 XBoost, there are definitely some English guides on how to play but it's probably the most popular fighter/arena fighter in arcades, some places are just those games for multiple floors, simple-ish to learn but tricky as hell to master.
I suggest watching a anime called Ace of Diamond(Daiya no Ēsu). It’s a high school baseball anime, with two unique first year pitchers. One is a lefty with a unique delivery with a moving fastball, and the other is a righty with just high heat. It’s not only about the pitchers it’s about the high school baseball team as a whole. Great story with great characters.
19:34 wait until Trevor learns how much Yu-Gi-Oh has changed as a card game. He'll be stunned like many have. 20:53 if he wants baseball anime, Ace of Diamond and Major are two of the most popular ones internationally. But for anime in general there's so much to pick and there's something for someone out there, even for the lowest degenerates. People's tastes are different but there's these two movies called Your Name (Kimi no na Wa) and Howl's Moving Castle that are widely considered two of the most goated ever. Also there's Akira which popularized the Cyberpunk setting that's everywhere now from AAA video games to Hollywood. Also I think he should definitely go watch the high school national tournament at Koshien to see why the Hanshin Tigers get kicked out of their home ground every year in the peak of Summer. If not, the Kanto (a catch-all term for the greater Tokyo area) qualifiers for said tournament at Meiji Jingu is also a great alternative.
Trevor - kids are new to baseball and I stumbled across your videos on YT. I've continued watching because of your genuine love for the game. Best of luck to you
I’ve never been more curious about NPB, and have really enjoyed the stadium tours. To not be able to show the footage is definitely a loss for NPB, would have loved to learn more about the league through my favorite baseball channel
@@jt1884 Thanks. Yeah, after watching all the way to the end I realized that this was the case. NPB's definitely behind the times with this policy but having lived in Japan for almost 20 years, this is not the first time I've encountered a policy that is behind the times!
I really love the players messing with your video :) different than what I've seen from other Japanese player / team videos. Love they have a sense of humor and can express it.
Hi Bro, congrats for the second W! What we want to watch is not an easy success story, but success over the toll wall, built over thorough analysis, principles & strategy. We strongly believe you are the one who can take us to all the real success stories that none of us have ever seen! Now all people in Japan love you, you are accepted as a family member. Look forward to taking steps together for the journey of the success 👍
As a scientist/researcher, I love watching your methodical approach to everything! I'd argue that your self-description would be more aptly described as "A 'nerd' that is also a pro baseball player!" haha, because even when you're 50+ years old and your playing days are over, the scientific approach to life will still be within you (e.g., maybe you'll be into bourbon and will want to double-blind taste everything to build up a great whiskey collection, or something w/ gardening, etc)
20:57 starting off with anime I would recommend Full Metal Alchemist Brother Hood, Attack on Titan, or Demon Slayer if you want popular anime. Personally I would say to watch Diamond No Ace. It’s a baseball anime that focuses on a highschool team in Japan with the main character being a pitcher. Hope you give anime a try and find some shows you really enjoy.
I like watching your videos after living in Japan for over 20 years. I’m also a BayStars fan. I’ve played and coached baseball for over 40 years. I currently coach at the Native American school I work at in Arizona. You asked for anime to watch: anything from Studio Ghibli, currently Spy Family and Demon Hunter are popular. Komi Can’t Communicate is fun especially since I used to teach at Japanese high schools. がばれ!
Always love watching your input on Baseball and how your living in Japan !! Big Angels fan here and The Angels MLB team need someone like you !! Othani would welcome you just like Japans people do !!
I love that you embrace Technology Trevor. I loved playing baseball, but blew my knee out when I was young and still trying to play after HS. I have been around Technology my whole life and that has been my career for 22 years now, so it is cool seeing how much you mix tech into you day.
To be fair, baseball isn’t the most popular sport and there’s a bajillion players. Most everyday people wouldn’t even recognize Mike Trout outside of Anaheim.
Trev! Just watched your Seibu Lions game, you’re tipping your pitches; almost all fastballs you’re holding your glove at your belly button, almost all off-speed pitches you’re holding your glove closer to your belt. We’re talking about an inch of distance at most. Check the video from behind the mound and you’ll see off-speed pitches where the glove overlaps the belt line.
Great video Trevor, it's been really fun to get a look into the life of a player in japan and just how much things differ from how things are in the US. On the note of anime, while I don't really have a series that I could recommend (since tastes differ from person to person), I think the appeal of anime, or at least to me, is that you can have any sort of story be made and since it's animation you can get away with a bit more in the way of emotions, storylines, and artstyles. There's a really broad range of what type of series you could get, from something adult oriented (in terms of story and it's themes), you can get series that are more aimed at kids (sort of like the cartoons you'll see on things like Nickelodeon), you can get a series that's set in a world that's not like our own (sort of like what you might see in some of the marvel comics), you can even get series that are deal with the ultra-mundane like a regular office worker. There are so many possibilities to what a story can be about, and thanks to it being animated you can make the world look exactly as you'd like. Maybe I did a poor job of explaining it but hopefully I was able to get the general gist of what I think the charm to anime is. Best of luck on your next game and can't wait to watch the next video in this great series
I grew up in a village of 2,300 in the mountains of New York. I loved/love baseball. My town is most famous for beating the Soviets in hockey, 4-3, but it had no summer baseball after age 13, and I went to the local private school, which had no team. My pitching coach was two pictures of Jim Gott gripping a four-seam fastball and a slider in a Sports Illustrated article. Despite that, my arm was good enough to walk on in college, but, GD, I am jealous I didn't have access to videos like this.
These are so fun! Also, love the editing. Like showing that other guy behind Trevor who tried to get into the Pagani place and the door was locked like it was for Trevor the first time he tried to go in 😆
Something classic like Cowboy Bebop or samurai Champloo would be a great place to start. They were both popular in the states. Plus Champloo has a great baseball episode!
4 things: 1) nice game against the Lions Sat. 6/2; 8 strong, boss, 2) Glad you started using DeepL, 3) can't believe you didn't find Radio Kaikan in Akihabara; you can find everything you were looking for there, including your cards, 4) "what's in the box"segment really needs a jingle.
Thank you for uploading this video and I really enjoy it. translators in internet are getting better and better but I`m very glad to say that i started learning English and enjoyed watching baseball through you Trevor!
I guess if you want some Dave & Busters type place, try Round 1. That would be the closest equivalent. But if you’re going for more retro, usually small and old places. For anime, plenty of places. Ikebukuro (sunshine building) has the Pokémon center Mega. They also have a dedicated One Piece store there as well, and a bigger animate
Trevor, I’m super type A perfectionist too, not to your degree… I am a bit older though, and the one thing I can say is give yourself grace… you are doing a great job introducing new training techniques to all athletes and you are being a good representative of MLB to Japan and the world. What I love most is your approachability and the inspiration you give to up and comers… I know there are trolls and “haters” but people grown learn and get better… let’s hope they do too! You have a ton of fans and we all believe in you! Also, really looking forward to learn more about glove construction. I was a softball catcher and went between two gloves and never knew how much thought went into construction! 頑張って! Hope that was correct!
Regarding arcades in japan, they aren't catered for families, so they don't have a wide variety of games and tend to be focused on the sort of games they offer, except for crane games, which are just everywhere. If you are looking for music games like DDR, akihabara is the most concentrated area with those games, with game panic on the corner, leisureland 2 on a higher floor of the building where you got overwhelmed with the loud sounds upon entering the doors and GIGO 3rd(GIGO 3号館), which is a different GIGO outlet you entered(iirc it is GIGO 1st that you went inside). For a more general spread of games, Hey! arcade in akihabara has the biggest spread of games in akihabara that I know of, with bullet hell games, gundam and fighting games on the higher floors. Otherwise, the aforementioned GIGO 3rd is a good place too, the top floor on that arcade has a floor with only "retro" game, with the word "retro" being used rather loosely as these games are retro to japanese audience, but I suspect these would be games you are more familiar with, like Daytona driving simulator and time crisis. As for anime to start off with, it would be great if you would mention what sort of genres you are interested in. IMO, the greatest strength of anime is wide variety of quality stories that are told. If you are looking for something more akin to Dragon Ball Z, the modern day equivalent would be My Hero Academia(aka Boku no Hero Academia), with a very distinct american influence in that anime. For something a bit more fantastical, I would recommend mushoku tensei, its the first popular series of its kind that basically kickstarted an entirely new genre of anime in recent memory, where there started to produce a lot more anime about the MC reincarnating into another world. Finally, my personal pick would be Vivy: Fluorite's Eye Song, an anime about a songstress android attempting to change history 100 years into the future where humanity is wiped. The reason why I pick this is because I think its criminally underrated in the anime community currently and I know of a friend who wasn't into anime but enjoyed this when I was doing a watchalong with my friends. Cheers, love your content, as a nerd from Singapore. :)
I used to live in Japan for over 10 years and Yoshinoya is one of my favorite places to eat :) I know it's not the best quality but it's delicious. Love your videos, Bauer!!

You really need to start reaching out and doing collabs with these Bigger RUclipsr's. You being a pro athlete/baseballer is something all of them have yet to do a video on. Trevor, I could just watch you walk around Japan like a lost rich kid all day. Did you say you're getting a Koenigsegg Agera? My boss owns a McLaren P1, 2x Turbo Ferrari 458, Big G Waggon? I'm in Houston. Love ya bruv. I love your work ethic. Your baseball IQ is unfathomable. Once you get adjusted, I can see you in their Sawamura running.
It's still kinda odd to me that when your in Japan you could just find a Pro player just walking the streets. It's super rare to just see an MLB player in the wild in the US.
Go to one of your high end malls and most athletes are there lol. I worked in a nice mall and seen most of my favorite players and high profile athletes. Justin verlander use to come in for a coffee every game he pitched for whatever reason. I think he liked the ladies chasing after him and it stroked his ego before he pitched.

It's a nice surprise that you visited Asakusa-bashi(Not Asakusa) to find leather for your glove. Asakusa-bashi also provides various parts and material for hand-craft accesories and bags. It's a BtoB town right next to Akihabara where tourist rarely visit that is why stores close early.
Anime...my son started me with Attack on Titan and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. You won't regret either of them. Also, love your mechanical analysis. Young pitchers would do well to watch how a professional perfects his craft.
Anime recommendations: Steins;Gate (starts off as a slice of life comedy, ends up being a sci-if thriller), ODDTAXI (wonderfully written characters, fantastic modern noir vibe), Initial D (the gateway anime for all car nerds).
You would never be able to walk around the streets with that camera equipment in the US. You’d get mugged. That place is so clean! Puts the US to shame. Such a different level of respect the Japanese have for their country.
Hey Trev, as a suggestion: Look into picking up a Japanese Switch if you're into Pokémon. While the 3DS games were still technically region locked, it was starting with Gen 6 that the ROM on the cart was literally the same worldwide. First time boot on a brand new copy (or a copy that recently had all saved data cleared out) of Sword/Shield, the Gen 4 remakes, or Scarlet/Violet will prompt you to pick a language to play it in. As the Switch itself is region free, you could have the novelty of a Japanese system with a Japanese copy of one of the games, yet still be able to play it in English. Mind you, I don't know how a Japanese copy would react with DLC (especially if you set up your Switch for the US region/eShop at first startup), but you'd at least be able to play the base game in English, take it with you, then still play US releases on that system later on.
I identify with you Trevor. Fellow nerd/athlete (except I was the shirt kid everybody picked close to last). Forgot about Yoshinoya. Never ate there, but used to see them around a lot as a kid. I don’t see them anymore here in the states. We’re there any in SCV? I can’t remember. Great video, as always. You never disappoint Trevor. Keep pushing over there.
I'd recommend going to the Odaiba one!
he is very loved in japan😊
Trevor, the character you referred to as the "Pig Headed Swordsmith" is Inosuke from the anime Demon Slayer. If you were going to learn about Japanese anime, watching Demon Slayer would actually be the perfect place to start. It is extremely popular in America and in Japan. It's very well animated, good voice acting, good story, and it's got a lot of the common anime tropes. Think you would enjoy it and it would help you learn. (Please watch in Japanese with English subtitles though, especially since you want to learn the language.)
Congrats on the great start yesterday! Lets keep it going!
I’ll second this recommendation
Same I recommend
プロの野球選手に野球アニメ見せて楽しめるかなぁ🤔🤔
I'd recommend One Outs too
『大きく振りかぶって』もお勧めです
@13:09 trevor talking about the Huayra but all I could think of was that beautiful white LFA in the background. OMG
Trevor is really one of my favorite people. He's a great role model and i appreciate how he handles the ups and downs of his life. He is my hero.
Trevor! You should go to Round1 for what you're looking for!
@Joshua Tims -- Is that an NPB policy? No clips? I thought Trevor showed some, but maybe I'm trippin'.
@@bryanwinchell2485 he can show Home games, which has been super entertaining but he can’t show road games
@@jt1884 Thanks. Yeah, after watching all the way to the end I realized that this was the case. NPB's definitely behind the times with this policy but having lived in Japan for almost 20 years, this is not the first time I've encountered a policy that is behind the times!
It’s always a good day when trev posts. Always a banger
Yoshinoya so underrated!! Us LA kids totally understand that nostalgia!
4:23 “Gun Batte Kuda Sai” is more like a “Good luck” in Japanese.
Angel fan here too! Got into baseball cuz of Ohtani 😊
I love that you embrace Technology Trevor. I loved playing baseball, but blew my knee out when I was young and still trying to play after HS. I have been around Technology my whole life and that has been my career for 22 years now, so it is cool seeing how much you mix tech into you day.
“What’s your name sir?”
“Trevor Bauer”
“Oh are you an influencer?” 😂😂😂

To be fair, baseball isn’t the most popular sport and there’s a bajillion players. Most everyday people wouldn’t even recognize Mike Trout outside of Anaheim.

Such an enjoyable video blog. Thanks Trevor.
i love Trevor bauer videos
Thank you so much for these videos. I look forward to them every week. Good luck on the rest of the season.
Love the insight into working on your pitch, more please!
I really want you to succeed there so that you can stay there forever. let's go !
Hey man, good on you for not playing for the dodgers anymore. They’re the only ones that lost something in that whole deal. Glad to see you’re doing great in Japan. With my blown out JUCO shoulder I wish I could still get out and throw, but watching your training videos takes me back. Eric is still the strikeout king though… when he’s in the box. Keep ‘‘em coming!
I really appreciate your channel, teaching people about Japanese baseball.
YOU KILLED IT YESTERDAY!!! KEEP THAT GOING!!!
BRO!!!!! TAKE CARE OF GSELLMAN!!!!!!! He’s a former Met and really pitched some TOUGH games for us!!! He’s a really good teammate too. Glad to see him still pitching!!!
You are the man Trevor. Don't worry, you will get back to being the dominating pitcher that you are. New country and new system. A lot to take in. Keep doing what you do. You've got this.
Trevor, the biggest arcade in Japan is called Round One! It has all the things you were trying to find there 👍
Oh my god, another bauer video!!! nice!!!! thank you Trevor!!! I'm an ESL teacher and all of my Japanese students are rooting for you!

What you should do is hit up Trash Taste to collab and talk about anime/games/japan. Basically, everything you need to know and I'm sure they'll love to collab if their schedule allows. You really need to start reaching out and doing collabs with these Bigger RUclipsr's. You being a pro athlete/baseballer is something all of them have yet to do a video on. You bring a lot to the table man.
Awesome episode. Keep it coming

The lambo you liked at 13:50 looks like a Miura. Very similar body style to the Ford GT40
@@theirishman088 man, I wonder what it’s like to just know, for a fact, that you will be mobbed by girls head over heels, and all you have to do is show up.

@tminus543 I wouldn't know and I'll never know. It's all about the money. Anyone high profile like lawyers, doctors and athletes they would smell that wallet from 3 miles away lol.
I would love to get TB out at one of our track day events when he returns to the US. See if he drives on track as well as he pitches!
Hi Trevor!
I heard you wanted to get up to date on Anime culture and I hope you take the time to read this. 2 of which I would recommend would Be Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia! These both will surely keep you entertained and would highly recommend. After watching these, if you get more invested into anime, I’d HIGHLY recommend Jujutsu Kaisen! Hope you enjoy these titles !
Really love to Trevor soaking in as much Japan as he can.
Anime is just Japanese animation but the styles, colors, and plots of anime vary so much and can have so much depth at the same time compared to American animation.
Congratulations on your win yesterday! A party will be held at Yokohama Stadium after the victory! Please provide a RUclips video of that party. I know you got tuna as a victory gift.
I thought they lost the game 3-2. Must have been a no decision for trev.
@@jyee2217 that was the game from last week when Trevor faced the Chunichi Dragons, yesterday he faced the Seibu Lions.

I am absolutely loving these vlogs. Nerds rule!!

You would never be able to walk around the streets with that camera equipment in the US. You’d get mugged. That place is so clean! Puts the US to shame. Such a different level of respect the Japanese have for their country.

Great video from my favorite baseball player
Hey Trev, as a suggestion:
Look into picking up a Japanese Switch if you're into Pokémon.
With your stuff being good right now, the everything else will follow.
