Thank you for sharing these. I think I saw a few episodes back in the 80's but don't remember much. Mostly these characters are interesting. Why people think Taggart is grumpy I don't know. He has a very dry humour and although subtle it is very amusing. If he's out of temper at times it is certainly understandable. His wife could drive the Sphinx to distraction, he is often confronted with impossible criminals and idiots and then there is always the political/journalistic, bureaucratic harassment he receives.
Mrs. Taggart has been in a wheelchair since giving birth to their one child, something that went wrong during the delivery. That's enough to make anyone testy, especially since he makes one comment in an early episode about how she has no interest in trying to have any kind of sexual relationship with him. It's also obvious in the early episodes that he cheats on her, though that seems to have disappeared in later episodes.

This episode was a bit annoying at times. It seems they have all deteriorated to a new low of incompetency. They had it wrong from beginning to end and not taking action caused more deaths than necessary. Taggart and the others didn't respond to the photographer and nearly got her killed. In real life she would have been dead by the time they dragged their asses to her place. I'm amazed at the lethargy of the Scottish police. That last dash to the flat..... they have no siren or flashing lights. I was amazed at how young and handsome Jason Isaacs looked. His smoking and drinking in real life have aged him terribly. A great pity when people are given so much in the way of looks and health and just throw it away. He is a good actor but having recently seen him in a film I was stunned at how old he looks compared to just a few years ago. I admire the realism. They don't try to beautify people like hollywood does with their blinding white teeth. However most of these people have really terrible teeth, not only crooked but they look rotten with black stains. Not attractive.
