    oh hey I got a funny story. So I was at my friends house and we where talking about telepathy, as a joke I said I could read minds (nah I just know mbti shit) so as the conversation continues I said that I had a headache, I waited a few seconds and immediately after I said 'thanks for the offer but I don't need a paracetamol' you should've seen her face. HILARIOUS. I just knew she would say that. She still doesn't understand how I did it, I'd like to let her think that I can read minds, it's just too funny.

      So, what would it be if my husband wakes me up too early EVERY morning to ask me where he left something, as if I would know? The answer is always the same, right where you left it.
      But one morning he asked for his keys. I just wanted to go back to sleep. With eyes closed I pictured the keys in my minds eye. Once I had a fix on that image, I let the vision expand to include the area beyond the keys. It looked like the top of the dryer. Weird place for keys. So I asked him "have you checked the top of the dryer yet?"
      He didn't say a word, but disappeared. He came back upstairs a moment later, and asked with disbelief "HOW did you DO that?"
      I went back to sleep.It was that funny space between awake and asleep. I figured maybe I walked past the dryer the night before, and saw the keys out of the corner of my eye or something. And my subconscious tucked away that info in case I needed it later. I don't know. Sometimes I'd take one look at my kids and know exactly what just happened to them.

    I’m an INFP and I used to have a really difficult time with my INTP family member, but by understanding their functioning, I have been able to have a significantly better relationship with them. Pretending is literally against everything I feel to be right, but once I understood that it is necessary when creating healthy relationships with people who have different values and functioning as my own, I was able to embrace it. I really agree with everything you are saying.

    Im INTP. The test kept saying I was everything but that. I just had to read about the types and find the one that matched me.

    Thank you so much for providing all this info for us. As an INTP female, everything socially has been a struggle, I can't connect with people or make friends easily. I'm just a weirdo that gets left out of everything because I'm not " cool enough". It bothers me, but at the same time I don't care. Now I know I'm not the only one. It's helped me accept myself for who I am, and what I need to work on to be even better. This stuff really needs to be taught in school. Thanks, again.

    • @annaengland1841
      @annaengland1841 5 лет назад +6

      @Emma Brennan 😂😂😂 this is great! Thx so much! It's definitely not easy being weird. That's amazing to have a sis like that. INTJs are amazing people, I adore them. I met an intj once and she was literally the first person I have ever connected with. Sadly, she lives in an evangelistic family and we've only seen each other three times.
      I was homeschooled ( which I love. Lessens the social anxiety) so I've never been able to be apart of things in school like that but thx to very supportive parents and the internet I have been able to learn a few things.
      I've been playing violin for almost eight years. I started mostly cuz its one of the hardest instruments to learn and I was up for a challenge. Lindsey Stirling and Taylor Davis are my biggest inspirations.
      I've never really done gymnastics but I enjoy contortion/yoga sorta stretching stuff. Parkour is something I've wanted to learn, maybe I'll try it.
      I also like gaming, digital and traditional art, macrame to name a few. So I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I tend not to show it tho cuz I gotten call arrogant and show off. Everyone thinks im always trying to be better than them so only a special few get to see it.
      And most times I show my true self, everyone gets intimidated which doesn't help the "making friends" process but whatever. I'm just a heartless machine.
      I had really perfected being someone else in public and then was called a fraud and manipulative. But I didn't do it to hurt anyone. I was just trying to "fix" myself. Thx to this channel I now know better and I feel so much more free to be myself now. I no longer try to force myself into groups, I just let people come to me.
      Well, there's all my randomness for ya lol. Thanks for sharing and keep learning girl!

    • @annaengland1841
      @annaengland1841 5 лет назад +4

      @Emma Brennan when do INTPs have nothing to say?!😉lol. They way I write/talk/ comment drives most people insane. I am so glad you can understand all that! It's feels pretty organized to me but apparently not for everyone else. Tell your sis i said hey and I would love to meet you guys too. Thx.
      So first off, macrame. I started by using embroidery floss and making friendship bracelets. It gives you a feel for working with the strings and basic knots. You can find tons of patterns here in n RUclips and even Pinterest if you use that. Then from there I just started increasing amounts of string and patterns. Just worked my way up to be able to do wall hangings. I find it very relaxing and something I can do while thinking. I will warn you, it takes a LOT of patience lol. I can whip up a bracelet in a couple hours but the bigger things get it can take days to finish something.
      I think there are a lot of pros and cons with both ways of schooling. And I know a lot of people can't always handle it. We have always been very involved in church, so no, I'm not socially depraved. I'm glad I was homeschooled, even if I missed out on things I would like to do there. Because homeschooling leaves us completely free to do what we want. We don't have to follow social norms and peer pressure. We can live the way that fits with our life style.
      Situations with people like that really suck. I completely understand the whole supposedly "friends" thing. That's happened to me so many times. I get caught in a group thinking we are getting along great and then BOOM! I find out they haven't even been paying attention or caring about me at all. Even when I've done everything I can to learn them and be caring. Those emotionally charged situations I've just guessed what someone else might say. Which then comes off as robotic and unnatural but at least i tried. And most people don't understand how much effort that takes from someone like me.
      So, yes, I've given up on friends. I have two,sorta three-ish girls I can get along with pretty well most of the time but there is still sometimes that disconnect. If people come along that I like then great! If not, oh well, I'm doing fine so far.i have figured out that if I can walk away and they won't notice or care, like basically don't want me there, then I walk away and never look back. And this is one of the best things I've lived by. Hopefully that helps you.
      Thx for answering and reading this if you do!

    Your talk of manipulation and emulating other senses is something I totally agree with.
    I've read in multiple sources that we INTPs are considered to be "chameleons". Don't know about others, but that's definitely true for me. I honestly don't see that as a lie or deception or something. This is just me trying to interact with people in the way that makes them happy - which will make my inferior Fe happy as well.
    Besides, though in general opinion manipulation means lying and using the person, I don't lie in my chameleon mode. I honestly become that person, even if it's not for long. I just try to not make people uncomfortable by being my weird self. And I don't use people, that goes against my ethics.

My initial thoughts were, “ok, so if I understand how I and other people tick, couldn’t I use that kind of power to improve myself and my relationships with others?” The problem was, I found a bunch of channels on RUclips that were skit based (all well and good) but yours has really been the first to explore that potential and explain how to implement it, and my life has been all the easier since! Thank you so much! These videos are awesome! 😎

      As an INFP, that form of conforming to be what you're not, goes highly against our integrity. Unfortunately, with not playing that type of game in my former workplace, it sometimes had negative consequences. I frequently got passed over because of refusing to be superficial such as brown-nosing certain supervisors. The supervisors that cared more about my merit and less about the fact that I didn't brown-nose them were the only type of supervisors that promoted me.

    Incredible how you are expressing many things I was intuitively thinking/perceiving (I've been interested in MBTI for a while) but not sure if I could have phrased it so clearly. It's like I feel really connected to the way you are presenting these videos.
    I could say though that you have your "own logic" and not that it is "true" and sometimes you put much emphasis on some aspects and not on others aspects.
    However overall, it's like you give us the ability to consider the whole system and how the differents parts interact on a logical manner (Ti) which is really balancing my Fi vision, as giving me another approach, while responding to my Ne needs.
    I'm really impressed. I think I've been uncousciously looking for data on Mbti for a long term, not just people experience, but also a global thinking and a deep thinking about it.
    I'm French and you're obviously American, but I feel really connected to what you're saying, on the other side of the world ;)

    Love your videos, dude.
    First of all, I’ve only typed INTJ and INFJ on the official MBTI (with assessment), easily tested INTP on freebie tests and certainly AM an ENTP. So, I get it. Now of course since I know what I did wrong and purposefully chill out when I test and answer based on how I am in my “flow state,” I only test ENTP. I certainly know how and (now) why we can mistype! Ne can mess with your head, because we see possible truths in multiple answers and don’t always know what is *most* true for us. I’m highly literate, INTP intelligent and if I can screw the tests up with help of master practitioners, people who have no knowledge of typology, certainly can. Plus when I mistype, I can convince myself and anyone else that it’s my type (sorry, master practitioners).

    As an ENFP - I find you so confronting and analytical and direct and it terrifies me but - I respect how thorough and BULLSHIT FREE you are; The lack of feeling that an ENTP displays is entirely made up for *in my unpopular opinion* with the sheer amount of effort that you've gone to in order to understand others and how they are different to you, so that you don't piss people off on a daily basis that you aren't compatible with.
    I really am beginning to think APATHY is the true EVIL in society at the moment - feeling can really get in the way of logic a lot of the time, and rational behaviour, which i've noticed often makes people clam up and do nothing at all in a serious situation, which can actually do more damage to people than just being direct and cutting people out of your life entirely that you don't click with.
    Thankyou C.S.Joseph!
    This channel has, completely transformed my ability to interpret the different perspectives i have of others; in an incredibly helpful way.
    I feel like now i can actually understand why and how others are coming to entirely different outcomes to me when given the exact same instructions or expectations about how to to have something completed.

    Now you make me doubt my type. Always tested as INTP and was able to relate to it. But when you talk about insecurity I see myself more in how you describe INJs. I'm more conscious about looking bad and giving a bad impression than making people feel bad. That's why I am much more image-oriented to what the INTP stereotype says. I actually do things so i can e more competent or charismatic or simply better.

      I am an INTP and I understand your observation. Some of the INTPs, either because of parents or siblings, will become aware of how society uses clothing to communicate specific concepts. Once and INTP recognizes this, they can simply learn to exploit it, and it to the list of anxieties and other things that need to be managed on an ongoing basis. :)

    As an IxTJ I have found this very beneficial as a way to deal with people in a manner that is effective for both parties. For example, I have a very emotional ENFP teacher who can become quite irrational once his Fi is violated, and is known for his bipolar tendencies.
    However, by recognizing and respecting how his mind processes information and then makes decisions, I can effectively communicate with him in a way that is not seen as impersonal/cold. This is mutually beneficial and has prevented me from being the subject of his emotional outbursts and deepened the quality our conversations as I know what I should and shall not say.
    Lastly I do agree that if more people respected and became aware of the cognitive functions people would get along better. I could never really understand why some people blindly stood by ineffective/outdated rules or how someone could be deeply effected by another’s emotions. Instead of judging them (what I used to do lol) with Jungian Psychology you can learn to understand and appreciate the human brain.

    The last five minutes of the video is why it is worth listening to the thinking and ideas of the ENTP, once they’ve laid out the ‘what’ and ‘how’ they reveal the ‘why’ and their passion for people, which others rarely see because it can be confronting or too hard to get past the first round of ‘information’. If you want to communicate less ‘harshly’ with some types, I think mainly F’s, I would reverse the order, go ‘why’ and then ‘what’ and ‘how’.
    Great video! 🤙

    Althought I find his videos interesting, I feel compelled to write this... If you want to have a good SUPERFICIAL relationship with anybody, yes, you should pretend. But if you want to have a REAL and trusting relationship, you should be REAL with the other person

      Attlas
      It depends on how you take the word "pretend". Pretend here doesn't mean lie your ass off & manipulate people into getting them the way you want. What Chase is trying to say is, just play the role the next person wants you to, only for a short time, for both of you to be on same page. Once that's done, you can be honest & real with them & they with you, giving the result you want :)

      Yes Nachiket Pargaonkar. That is what we do to mantain a superficial relationship. When you are looking for a real relationship pretending will make you resentfull and unable to disclose your true self to the other person. That is why I distinguish between superficial and real relationship. As for the way I take the word pretend... I take it for what the word means. Pretend is what you do when you don't want to reveal the truth and you want the other person to belive something that is not real. You don't have to lie with words. You can just pretend you are happy by smiling when you are sad.

  • @shalaylaw7933
    @shalaylaw7933 5 лет назад +2

    Honestly in the world we live in it's necessary to pretend in order to create harmony. I really like that you illustrate this because there's enough head-butting going on, and it's really time to gain a higher level of understanding instead of just ignorantly being ourselves and not adapting. Adapting is strength, to be able to put yourself in the mind of another leads to growth. It's not lying it's transforming, and some people may disagree and say "if you're not being yourself you're a fraud" but it's like no.... I'm letting these traits have a place and appreciating them. There seriously is not enough appreciation going around, everything has a good and bad quality and to embrace both is really important.

  • @Sing4God87
    @Sing4God87 6 лет назад +3

    It seems that you're talking about two very different things simultaneously. When it comes to adjusting our behavior so we can communicate effectively in the give and take of relationships, and treating someone how they want to be treated, that's a whole different thing. The example you gave of the INTJ sounds like you're building him up, even if it's not entirely sincere. But we do lots of things that aren't entirely sincere just to keep the peace. Knowing someone's needs and meeting them is a good thing. Emulating another type is taking it too far, in my opinion. Knowing how that person ticks and acting accordingly is not the same thing as embodying a type they would better get along with.
    Thanks for the grid! I'm definitely going to add some stuff to it so I can compare all in one place. This whole concept is so much easier. I couldn't even type my own family the other way people are doing it. I'm glad you explained it further because just with the grid it's still a bit hard to narrow it down.

    On manipulation, of course you could do it selfishly, but its not immoral to avoid causing drama or hurt. i think you should be yourself but if you believe that then it would be somewhat hypocritical to not try and understand that other people are also being theirself, and if you want to have anything to do with them for any reason, your gonna have to try and get along, which means avoiding things that would cause uneeded trouble or harm and knowing what matters to them and makes them feel good.
