    I love rain too!! And to people who say " you have nothing to worry about if you have nothing to hide" , it's not really about hiding, I just don't want your nose in my life where it has no business. And this lecture pretty much explains why we feel comfortable on internet. Great lecture.

    As an INTP, I love to be anonymous. Even though I don’t talk very often, I just like the isolation and being able to disappear. You content is awesome and I watch almost all of your videos and I just wanted to thank you. You helped me to understand myself and the people around me and it has allowed me to make my friendships better. Still don’t have a girlfriend though.

      Just takes time and the right girl man. You will find someone, i found the best method for these sorts of things is using dating apps so you dont have to initiate in person (helps me feel more safe) and developing our unconcious, do research on topics you love and work on your future plans, lead with these as they can be interesting conversation starters. Maybe dissect some thought experiments if she is down

    Speaking with strangers about personal issues (ie. psychiatrists, counselors, discussion groups) functions like a social moratorium in a way. One can go there and talk without the constraints of relevant judgement.

    I love that my mom is an ENTP. She made me for real and pragmatic dreamer / idealist INFJ. Directly and indirectly. I adore freedom and getting unstuck . I love revolution and challenging my self. I love it when people provoke or challenge me. Just don't ask me to talk about my self to much. I love talking about others and growth. I love those types of challenges they creat dynamic freedom to grow. My mom trained me to get through things and over things to improve using every challenge. I was not comfortable, but now I am grateful. I intend to follow through watching your videos. And those about INFJs , because I love to be told the truth , so I can grow. I am used to that, thanks to her.

    I love the anonymity that college offers. I can be whomever I want and Ive been using school as a tool to develop my ESFJ subconscious. The safe space to try a different side of my mind paired with my major (Human Services with an emphasis on ethics) has improved my maturity tremendously. People on discord have tried to corner me and type me as an INFP because I come off as affliative, but I know I was just transitioning and applying my education in ethics to the conversation. I told them that typing people through a short text conversation on the internet is nearly impossible, and that's something I hold true because a personality is infinitely more complex than a few paragraphs.

    It’s kind of nuts when being directly truthful (while also not ad hominem) is considered rude or insulting. Honest and direct types are the best, once you understand where they’re coming from.
    The very few people I’m completely comfortable with get all of my raw truth. I shock people regularly with how I talk and behave when uninhibited. I’m usually very quiet and stoic around most people, but once I sense it’s acceptable to be more myself, I become a lot more expressive, animated and talkative. During moments that I don’t really care to hide, or test the waters first, the reactions are pretty funny. I’m just never what people at first assume.
    I’ve been experiencing the church culture issue for quite a while now, too...
    People don’t often understand where others are coming from, or why, nor do they usually care to. They just want you to present appearances accordingly. Fall in line or basically become the pariah. So fun.
    I’m new to your channel, and while I don’t agree with everything, or all of how you describe functions, I’ve really been enjoying your style and content. Add me to the count of people that find your “mean” funny and even refreshing at times, ha.

    Though a big part is that the town I lived in (northwest Canada, but not as far north as the territories) had the snowpack right from November-Late March and January regularly featured temperatures of -30c. *If I was a disease in Plague Inc. I would have Cold Resistance IV.*

    INTP here, privacy has always been a major concern for me, especially online. I often in chatting online play a character, maybe one not so different from myself, but i never like to give my real name. (I understand the irony that my youtube account is just my name) But I always found the social moratorium of internet chat groups a good place to practice socializing without the stress of the other party knowing who i am. It helped me develop my conversation skills quite a bit.
    On a slight tangent this plays into what i have heard other INTPs talk about, a chameleon effect we can have. I think its based off the high Ne Ti combination we can interpret the logic of how others interact, figure out the system, and intuitively determine how others will react to certain actions we make. I am still working to figure out the mechanism but the effect is despite not having high feeling INTPs can get along with a myriad of different people through slight behavioral changes (being background types may also help). But it leads into the social moratorium subject because if an INTP is able to do this in a predominantly SJ or SP social situation it may be difficult to determine type. I think you are on the right idea there chase with the one on one sessions.

    I totally relate, Chase. I'm in a cult-like church. It's pretty totalitarian in what to wear, what to talk about, what to say, etc. If I merely say, "it's not for me" I'll get shunned by my family and friends. They announce it from the platform. And since they recommend to associate only with those in the church, your world crumbles and you don't know anyone outside of it. You're guilted to come back so you don't die in a bloody apocalypse. No beards, no tight pants, no faded cuts, so much more. When I'm here and on other MBTI forums, it's such a release because I have no expectations to fill on how to behave. I'm a blank canvas and can paint whatever I want. I don't want to leave to go "sin" or "go ham", I want to get away from a manipulative organization that has my SJ family fooled. As an INFJ I don't want to hurt my family but I cannot be in something that I don't believe in.

      Don't leave. See the good things in the org. I feel your pain, but don't give up. remember the last convention. I'm an ENFP and I know exactly what you think you're trapped. Leave and you will see it's worse out there I've been there. Don't go there please. Why do you want to leave, because of judgment?

    • @jmz8210
      @jmz8210 5 лет назад +1

      @@henkster6067 I respect any faith one has, but if it encroaches human rights, that's when I'm concerned. Armageddon is the same as hellfire, it's like the difference between being shot or hanged. They say I have freedom of choice, but it's like having a gun pressed to my head, because if I choose wrong I'll die. I didn't ask for this, I didn't ask to be a chess piece for God and Satan to move me around as they like. Children getting pressured to be baptized and once they do, and once they're old enough to decide for themselves, they get shunned just cause it's not for them?... What? Where does it say that in the Bible? If that's more important than marriage, where you have to be 18, then it should be a time where you can make an adult decision. Jesus got baptized at 30, an age where he could make a decision. There are no child baptisms in the Bible. There's been cover ups on pedophilia, thousands as seen by the Australian Royal Commission. Why can't I research outside their official website? There's too many things that make me doubt. I understand the appeal of a utopian community, but if there's secrets and constant judgement, I can't anymore. There are good people and bad people everywhere, including the org. It's no different. I think the origin of religion was to create order for humanity, tell scary stories to keep everyone in line. Biased attitudes to those who don't share ones religion is another thing thing that bugs me. Now, I'm borderline atheist at this point. How could every species of animal in different continents fit into Noah's Ark? Did they evolve? But wait, that goes against the teachings. How does a lion and a crocodile have a perfect mouth for eating meat when animals in the garden of Eden didn't supposedly eat each other? I see you have good intentions, and I think you're a good person, but understand, with these thoughts that I'm having it's making it very difficult for me to swallow what I'm being told. I can't stand the idea of children being slaughtered, and everyone, including Chase a "worldly person" as they're called, will die. Here's an example of what that dream of Armageddon is for the org: ruclips.net/video/xjatJ36cJvM/видео.html

    • @henkster6067
      @henkster6067 5 лет назад

      @@jmz8210 to me it looks like you only look at what's wrong around you.... Except You have things completely wrong... You don't have your facts straight about creation, Noah, baptism or the pedophile cases. You actually have dispair because you can't choose to do what you want to do. Life is more than that, it's about being on the side of what's right, not about the side of wrong to do what you feel like. Also if you want to be an athiest, be one that's fine, but Armageddon is still going to affect you. You haven't studied what you should have and that's why you have doubt in the beliefs your parents tried to teach you.. It's not your parents, it's your fault you doubt and they will shun you coz they do what's right. You have loads of opportunities to study and get to that right knowledge, except you just moan about the orginization. Go and research, you will find that information on the outside of the org is exactly what is inside. They just do you a favor of doing the research themselves. Why I said that is because I had your attitude, I know what I am talking about. Talking about human rights being pushed about is only because you have your mind and eyes focused on what's going on around you and what you want for people now. You're not thinking about the future or the consequences of having a fleshy view of just seeing if what's going on now. That's why you're in this space you're in.
      People like Chase and everyone will get destroyed if people like you don't do Your best to help them. That's the sad part, people who know the truth but denies it and they deny others of it as well. You can feel it's unfair that they get destroyed, but it's the heart. They will get drawn if needed be. You on the other hand, sort out your own life rather than mope in misery about others lives. I may be harsh on you, but I have to take my own medicine as well. Think carefully about what you are saying about the org, because it actually just reflect your knowledge and attitude. Also if you really love people, start doing what you need to do to save others. Because moaning and making a bad name for the org, because you didn't do your research and make it your own, is really selfish and very wrong of you.

    • @jmz8210
      @jmz8210 5 лет назад

      @@henkster6067 I want to see the objective truth. When you're in a relationship with someone don't you want to know everything? The good, the bad, and the ugly? Same with the org. You sounded upset, even somewhat relishing my demise as well as the millions of human beings on Earth. You asked for my reasons and I'm giving them to you. Like I said, there's good people there, but what I have a problem with are man-made policies. Where does it say in the Bible about beards are wrong? Jesus had one, so did Moses. Jehovah's Witnesses wear wedding rings, celebrate baby showers, and wear neck ties which have pagan or militaristic roots. Yet birthdays are bad? Don't rejoice the life God gave you? You and I both know there's no mention of the Bible saying don't celebrate them. Even Abraham (Genisis 21: 4,8) celebrated it, it's suggested with Job (Job 1: 4,5), and the birth of Christ was celebrated, even given presents. JWs criticize the Catholic Church about hell saying how cruel they think, but JWs preach about Armageddon which is just as bad, then they get offended that someone criticizes them. They cannot handle it. They want to shut their ears from what's happening. When they're talked about good on the news, it's Jehovah's blessing, if not it's Satan. They can't handle criticism. Only good can come from the org supposedly. I'm still a conservative person. As I said before, I don't want to go out and drink, go clubbing, and go crazy. Guess what? All other religions say the same, it's all lies, it's all lies. I understand the appeal of community and being in a congregation, but I have a problem with things the Bible never mentions ever. I need more than "I feel it's right", I need facts. Jesus can be seen as an apostate, he had dangerous ideas that went against man made policies against the Pharisees. He is someone I look up to as an INFJ, he shook the system. There's more I can say, but I'd be here all day. I know you think you're doing right, but taste and see the truth yourself. I still have hope of some kind being in the universe, I want to believe, but I need more. Speak for yourself, don't let them speak for you. I'd always rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned

  • @tajmarie1329
    @tajmarie1329 5 лет назад +6

    Yes, small towns would be a nightmare for me. This is also why avoid churches as well. I think the biggest examples of social moratoriums are universities or work environments (IT or engineering) which are usually dominated by NTs/NFs. I think the biggest example of an anti-social moratorium, at least in my experience was Officer Training School -- a very negative experience.
    As far as privacy, I think my spidey senses usually goes off even with individuals. I had a person as of recent who had extended himself as a mentor. However, when I had semi-personal questions asked of me, I had inadvertently ghosted him. I do believe in self-improvement and I am all for constructive criticism. However, once someone gives me the impression that they are either trying to mold me or change my personality, I am quick to dip. I'm sure I will cross paths eventually. However, I am laying low until I fully career transition.

  • @sedanog1

    looking at typing with this context I can see how my behavior may change depending on the situation. For instance, if I look at my internal monologue it can be more slow though there are a few times where it speeds up. in these cases it can be due to time constraints in a test or perhaps making a plan of action in my job. When looking through at my speech patterns I will often end up speaking fast either when I'm nervous or enthusiastically explaining a topic. The possible explanation for this might be that as a possible INTP (possible because I still need to thoroughly keep track of my behaviour and speech to verify) I may be going into my ESFJ subconscious (if my memory is correct) whose interaction style is a starter type. If I am more nervous I seem to stutter and even have my handd shake as I've seen when I'm in a new situation in say a class. However, if I have already been exposed to the same environment and talking I may be more slow and choose my words more carefully. though there have been similar cases where I do speed up my speech and still have a few pauses because I want to get the points out in a place that would "catch up" the conversation if I view it as being detailed. Funnily enough, there are moments where I have been called "Donald Trump jr" because in the eyes of one of my coworkers due to the way I present my explanations. this would lend credence to the notion of INTP due to the ENTJ shadow and in those cases I typically am in an extroverted environment and I am trying to give my explanations. I can keep on going and even explain how I teach and how I came to this possible INTP conclusion but I think this is long enough and wonder what percentage of people will tap
    "read more" and say no to reading this.

    I share your videos a lot on FB and this very week I got a "Chase doesn't like INFJs very much' comment. I found myself asking this woman to please consider the content and not the man, but as an INFJ, I too get a lot of feedback from people how to conduct myself better socially. I've come to value the criticism with humility and learn from it. Meanwhile, I gather the point of lecture is to refrain from typing people you don't know without seeing them in person, because our personalities can transition to different sides of the brain, given the nature of our interaction styles. Under pressure, for instance, Beind the Senes people become the focus, a place they're not normally comfortable being, due to social moratoriums, social constructs.... As a child I grew up a lot more social than I personally valued to be due to copying values of my family; INFJs identify as lifelong students....

    Being in a foreign country may be a social moratorium - people don't understand a thing you say in your native language most of the time, or a thing that is written on your t-shirt. This moratorium works until you meet your compatriot.
    Another one could be if you're a son/daughter of a parents with some kind of influence in the city/region/country - and you start behaving as if you can do anything you want.
    Overall whenever one believes you won't get punished for violation of social rules - one may start behaving differently. Even on the internet people behave differently when they're at work/home and someone is around and while they're alone.
    I keep forgetting to say thank you for all the work you do, I apologise for that and I'm really gratefull! (Fe trickster maybe =))

The only person that I got along with was my adopted Dad. Every day we sat and watched Jepordy together and laphed at the stupidity of my older siblings.

    I’m getting kinda confused ...
    At fist , I thought I was an INFP, then ,when I started studying it more deeply, I realized I was actually an INTP, and THEN, after Andrew’s video, I AM NOT SURE ABOUT ANYTHING ANYMORE
    would like to hear your
    opinion:
    I thought that I couldn’t be an INFP because of some things:
    1-I don’t care about status, I don’t really care if people I don’t know think highly of me
    2- I prefer much more the hard truth then people saying that (as an example) I did a job pretty well, when I didn’t
    3- I can get REALLY competitive when I meet people that do the same thing as I do
    4- I constantly catch myself thinking of how stupid we get when emotions are involved
    5- My mom said that she’s pretty sure I’m pragmatic
    6- I love creating theories (this one might be very stupid, actually)
    7- I’m a very skeptical person, I love hearing different opinions and have debates about ideas, I’m always up to have different views and finding the pros and cons in everything (what makes it a little hard to express this side of me, since people generally don’t like to have their ideas challenged or debunked)
    Reasons that I might not be an INTP:
    1- I love creating art (stories,drawing , painting , poems, playing guitar/piano)
    2- I really dislike seeing people being ignored/left out , and tries to include everybody(except people that hurt the ones I care) this is something that my mom said that I might have learned troughs time, since I totally relate to that
    3- I’m a really philosophical person, I love to analyze any type of art and find a deep meaning to it , especially stories or musics
    Final words: all those art stuff may be because my father play instruments and since I was little my mom gave a piece of paper and a pen as a toy (I think she’s an INFP, not sure though), and maybe that’s my way to distract from the tragedies of life, haha.
    The only thing is that I have a brother, and since he was little we also tried to make him like to play stuff and draw/write , but he was never really into it.
    Well, that’s all . Thanks for the help :P

    Hey C.S,
    Can you make a lecture on how and IF trauma impacts our Ego development and possibly inhibits some of our innate cognitive functions
    Personal Example: I intuitively ‘feel’ peoples energies, problems and experiences but it actually translates to just, accurately, ‘knowing’ what they’re most likely thinking, feeling and are motivated to do next.
    So like, I’m kinda on my Professor X shit but in all seriousness,
    it’s ‘Empathy’ Empathy (what I think I SHOULD use) vs. Cognitive Empathy (what I think I DO use)
    All in all, it’s a matter of me possibly not ‘feeling’ the full INFJ experience (which is what, based on your lectures, am speculating myself to be)
    Many thanks

    ...So I found an INFJ who I really, really like. I'm happy about that but also really confused. I've known him for a long time, but didn't realize how good we would be together until recently. I had this whole joke last year that he was "God." I was missing school recently and he told me brother that "as God he commands me to go to school," so I DID. After that I was all of a sudden involved in this weird game where he was telling me what to do... and for some reason I REALLY like that. He walked into the room and asked me if I was doing what I was supposed to, and when I said I was, he said, "Good -You're making me happy," and I lost it for a second. Anyway though, I'm kind of impatient and I just want to be in a relationship with him, but I don't know what to do. Should I just wait for him to initiate more or try to ask him out? I need advice. -Sorry if this was TMI.

    Correct social premise (not even correct in my view but just how that premise is supposed to work): if you have nothing to hide, then (it shows) you have nothing to worry about; equivalence: if you worry about something, then you will hide something.
    Wrong premise (the one often heard): if you have nothing to worry about, then you have nothing to hide; equivalence: if you have something to hide, then (it shows) you have something to worry about.
    Common logic falacy used to trick people. Might be better to sort this out.

    Sup, Chase o/
    You often use the phrase "Triple Movement" and "Triple Control", but I don't recall hearing you use the terms "Triple Pragmatic" or "Triple Afflilative", which I think are at least as important, especially for NTJ's whose Affiliative side is their SuperEgo and therefore rarely accessible and in an Affiliative dominated world seriously problematic (NFP's being the opposite)
    As an INTP (and therefore Trip-Prag) it's irritating and that's with an Affiliative Sub-Con (just as yourself, being ENTP).
    Might be worth consideration/a video, if you hadn't realized it previously, along with "Triple Direct/Informative" (though they seem less important on initial consideration).
