    The original exorcist is still the scariest movie I’ve ever seen…despite of the lack of technological advances of today. It was the psychological terror….this movie toyed with the psychological terror but I wish it was more intentional. For example, the fact that a possessed Catherine was able to go into a church…because that’s just not supposed to happen but it does.

    The Exorcist: Believer may have failed to make us believe that this can deliver well in the box office. Sure, not every film has to have a big budget, however we can clearly see that there are flaws here and there than can go unnoticed depending on which angle you're looking at it from. Seems like the horror genre may reach it bankruptcy era if nothing gets done about this.

    I personally really enjoyed this movie. As a starter for a potential trilogy, I believe it showed us a glimpse of what is to come. I also think that the film had some flaws, mostly the mishandling of legacy characters… but overall I think it was a solid character driven story with some good tense moments. We went to go see it and figured it would be a trilogy the way it was playing out. I don't believe this movie is TRYING to be the best or the only sequel, confused why anyone thinks that unless the creators actually said that, but most horror movies aren't great. You're not going to see horror movies to see stories that are amazing and movies that are perfect every time. And, yeah, we are living in a time when nostalgia is behind a lot of movies, remakes and reimagining and sequels, but that's fine. It wasn't amazing, but it was still entertaining enough, and that's all that mattered.

    I quite liked this movie! I had never seen the original The Exorcist until yesterday because a lot of people didn't like it and kept comparing it. Honestly, hate to say it, I kinda prefer The Exorcist: Believer. They're both great movies though, it has nothing to do with graphics. I just thought having two girls like that both needed to be exorcised rather than one was really cool, and I liked the introduction way more, and the way it all started with the two girls. The "body in the blood" line was so good! That child actor is going places for sure.
    I did adore the actors though more in the original, the mother was absolutely amazing as an actress! Old films are such a gem. I believe that I would've liked the original exorcist back when it was made, because back then, a movie like that was very different and creepy. But of course I'm not sensitive to it because it's 2023 not 1973 (exactly 60 years apart, cool) so scary stuff is way more common.

    I don't think they blended "all religions" I just saw catholism and voodoo (with a have sprinkle of Christianity)
    But the idea that only one religion gets to be valid at a time otherwise it doesn't make sense is honestly probably what's wrong with the world right now.
    The real issue is, Christianity brands anything that isn't explicitly Christian as satanism so your belief failed to suspend (pun intended)
    Anyway, this wasn't my favourite movie by any means and I didn't watch the first one so I have no nostalgia sitting on my chest. Also I loved the scene at the end where the old lady's daughter comes back (made me cry) and the scene where the would be nun neighbours talks about hope was one of the best things that movie gave us.

    • @MVPMVE
      @MVPMVE 11 месяцев назад +1

      It's not about one religion getting to be valid at one time, it's that this exorcism is specifically a Catholic rite, as evidenced by the ex-nun conducting it from the Christian Bible and the people in attendence reciting Christian prayers. If they were doing a Jewish exorcism or a Muslim exorcism, it would have to be conducted with the leaders and rituals specific to the respective faith, or risk blasphemy and consequent failure, which is the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish in an exorcism.
      A simple example: cakes and ice cream can be served on the same table at the same time, but you cannot mix and match recipe instructions for cake and ice cream and still get the same individual results. Additionally, there are many different flavors of cake (sects of Christianity), but if you want red velvet cake you have to follow a red velvet cake recipe, and if you want an Italian cream cake you have to follow an Italian cream cake recipe.

      @@MVPMVE Okay, I get where you're coming from but I don't think that a cake metaphor works here. This is a movie. Art (which in my mind is basically just expression). Expression of Ideas, and what I'm saying is that the world is so stuck on the idea that there can only be one truth when it comes to God or whatever supernatural experience that we can't even imagine a world where it's all true. Even just the idea that exorcism is 'Owed' by Catholicism proves my point. The movie was not my fav but my arguments was against his argument of why it wasn't amazing from my experience

    • @MVPMVE
      @MVPMVE 11 месяцев назад

      @@gideonbent7005 I was just saying that specifically in the movie they were using a Catholic rite, not that only Catholicism owns exorcism. And because it's specifically Catholic in this movie, it breaks immersion when you have an Avengers Assemble approach to religion because everybody knows Catholicism isn't the religion that plays nice with others. If you wanted to use another faith system's exorcism that was much more lenient on who can conduct exorcisms and how, no one would have these problems, but because Catholicism isn't like that and everybody knows it, this whole premise falls apart. That's why I said it would have been better to just use a completely different religion.

    I liked it. Had to turn off last night because it was creepy AF. Finished today and was happy with the ending.

    Enjoyed the combination of all the religions and how it takes a village to raise children. However, the movie fell short. Normally, the demon would taunt the victims more. It was misleading cause I thought the parents were closer to each other. I'm still confused about the ending. Not good execution of the movie. 😢

    Do not be ignorant of a belief that there is only one kind of exorcism to one religion! Every religion has a form of exrocisms ! And saint Benedict is the patron saint of exorcisms ! So keep that in mind, want to argue about this with epilepsy?

    All lives mattering exorcism is such a weird concept, I mean Catholicism called dibs.… and the random half baked ending, the exorcism being boring, the lack of tension through the entire movie, no gore, at no point did I fear for anyones life, you still can’t convince me they won’t just Gumby the poor priests neck back around and he’ll be fine.

    I lost it when the priest was like I am out of it you can perform Exorcism I am like the movie is called Exorcist and the priest himself has no character character I know he could not compare to og father Karras which for me one the best character. Movie lacked it .

    I honestly didn't care about the religious part of it, but I did enjoy the movie and seeing Linda Blair on screen again.
    And it's rather useless to say a movie doesn't make sense because it doesn't adhere to certain things, but most movies don't, so... how come we can suspend belief for some, but not for others? Just odd, to me.

    worked. I was born in Haiti and my family does voodoo and Catholic religion and voodoo goes hand-in-hand. The Saints you see in the Catholic Church goes back to voodoo I understand and enjoyed the movie
