Hi Kiran, Thanks fir showcasing the demo on inplace upgrade. Will the new WS2k19 disk will have the application configuration as well or do we have to configure the application configurations separately ?? How much downtime does it require to perform this activity??
yes, Down time required at least 1 hour. before preform this task, take snapshot or full backup for precaution step and if you are using Volume license better to check license availability. what I attached disk in demo, that one media disk that means win2019 OS files. before going perform this upgrade activity, validate application support win2019 or 2022 OS.
Hi Kiran, First of all thank you very much for the detailed explanation on the in place activity of the version upgrade. Sharing such info on the public platforms really matters to the people who are less on resource, but can you please let me know if i have to upgrade to 2022 then what all steps are required here? As in my project they have the requirement to do the in place of 2012 to 2022. Thank you in advance! Thanks Rishi.
Please refer below MS document link. they given all the steps to perform the upgrade. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows-in-place-upgrade

I am facing error while doing this-- PS /home/amit> Set-AzDiskImageReference -Disk $diskConfig -Id $image.Id -Lun 0 Set-AzDiskImageReference: Cannot bind argument to parameter 'Disk' because it is null.
I hope it will resolve if you follow the below documentation, learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/windows-in-place-upgrade#attach-upgrade-media-to-the-vm
Hi Kiran, For a sccm application server having os 2012 r2 hosted on azure do we need to do all the customization like stopping iis server, stopping wsus, disabling scep etc before we upgrade to 2019 as per the steps shown in this video?
That's great. Will we loose any old data, IIS settings, certificates etc. Please let me know? if we are then what to do in that case? Thanks in advanced!!
The video shows for OS disk only, what about data disks, do we have to perform any other process, or not needed, In our infra, we have 3 more data disks.
How we can upgrade windows 2012 R2 to Windows 2019 DC. It would be really great if you can share any solution with us. I believe only in place upgrading from WS2012R2 to WS 2019 (Desktop Experience) is possible as of now.
