They’re all much more liveable than any trucks around when I started driving 30 years ago. The T-600, 377, and FLD were really the only “aero” trucks, a lot of drivers resisted driving an “anteater”. You felt lucky to have air ride suspension and a standup sleeper, standing up between the seats in the cab was new, with the newly released FLD “condo”. The vast majority of drivers today don’t even know of the struggle to get dressed in a flat top cabover. I haven’t even had a sleeper for the last 18 years, I prefer and enjoy going home every day. No HOS or parking issues, there’s always a spot for me to park at the end of the day, about 100 feet away from the time clock to punch out…No need for the comforts of home in a truck when the actual comforts of home are just seven miles away from the parked truck…
If you really want to confuse newer drivers, ask them if their big hole is up against the dash or back against the sleeper, or ask what brownie box they’re using…What, you mean like Duncan Hines or Pillsbury?…
I have to admit, that was part of a long discussion I heard late one night on the CB in my first year of driving, and I had no idea then what they were talking about. Throw in a couple of heavy southern drawls, and I could hardly make sense of any of it.
I know the struggle dad didn't get his first long nose till '79 and then he had to crawl over the air conditioner to crawl thru the window to get into the bunk. '79 FLD and with a 42' Dorsey Meat rail he was 3 ft to long for Kentucky's 60 ft overall length law. My trainee's complain about the paperwork now. If they only knew.
My 2007 and 2010 Peterbilt 387 had an apartment sized cab, since those "bubble nose" Pete's were as wide as the trailer. But my favorite was the studio-feeling sleeper of my 2014 Kenworth T680.
idk if our interiors were spec'd differently but I HATED my 2014 T680 interior. not enough storage in the full sleeper, everything felt like cheap plastic. drawers wouldn't close, curtains broke, seats were uncomfortable, now I'm in a 2023 579 with a 58" sleeper and even tho the sleeper is smaller I love being over the road in it much more than the t680. the seats are so much more comfortable and it has better storage as than the full sleeper T680, save for a microwave slot and a full closet.

In 13 years, Volvo 860 was the best ride, drive, and interior space, and noise reduction ; kw680 had the nicest interior; pete 579 had the least body roll. Can’t speak to Mack or WS. At this stage I’ve come to value quietness, body roll stability, a good seat, and disc brakes. I gotta give Mack (Volvo) props. I drive an Anthem day cab dragging damn near 90K across I68 in MD and WV everyday hauling containers. Motors are pretty damn stout. It's a living...
Long before the T680, the Kenworth W900 and K100 introduced the VIT (Very Important Trucker) interior, the Aerodyne sleeper and the Studio Sleeper. The base interior in Kenworths is the luxury interior in other trucks.
Having driven a Freaghtliner century a International prostar a KW T660 studio sleeper and a T680 the prostar's interior is the best for comfort when not driving and driving
@@ericcapek3805 True. Volvo, Freighliner, WesternStar, International and Mack fall apart. I drove many of them with 500k and over on the motor and and are nothing like when they are new.
I can remember some of the 'old school ' drivers from the mid-late 70's who would always say that they've driven the bulldogs, the freight cars, and kwhompers, but the Pete's were the Cadillac of trucks, and that 'Peter built a truck for a "Man" to drive', the rest were oversized Tonka's that the little boys played driver in, while the grown men all preferred and drove Pete's.. As a kid hearing it from dad and other old timers back in day I always thought it was a funny comment and expression, but now when I see how far driver convince and technology has come from that era to this one, I kinda have a feeling that some of those old timers definitely wouldn't be saying that if they were driving some of these amazing modern machines.. Be safe out there, drivers. Keep the dirty side down and the sunny side up... And, 2 wheelers, 4 wheelers, and everything rolling on less than 18, never forget that these big fellas can't stop on a dime, can't move with the ease that you do, and see the center ass end of his load as easily as you can look out the rear window of your car or SUV, so it's as much your responsibility, if not more of your responsibility, to stay the hell outta the big boys way than it is for him to get or stay out of your way, so pleas try to use common sense and focused thinking when sharing the road with the big boys. Help then to stay safe, and by extension, to keep you safe because their job isn't easy and is much more than simple driving.
ye gawds. my company bought a pile of 680s for the highway and they were a mechanic's wet dream. Mad stacks of dolla dolla bills. fortunately my main ride is a 17 year old freightshaker with a detroit 60 so I had no problems. Spent a lot of time ferrying kenworths to the shop and back though
Why are the brakes for K/W down so low & in the way of the cup holders? I like the way how they switch from Australian trucking to American trucking on the Mack trucks.
What I don't like about US trucks that they all have same yellow parking brake and red trailer brake. All trucks outside US and Canada have different style parking brakes, even electronic parking brakes.
@@TFSIChristmas Even some American would probably say the same thing about American trucks You can always move to US if you're bored of seeing European cabover trucks. If you think they look the same, you need to go to an eye doctor. So by your logic, Volvo FH and DAF XG/XF+ looks the same? They don't share the same cab, engine or anything. You realize DAF is owned by PACCAR, which also own Kenworth and Peterbilt? Mack is even owned by Volvo. Western Star is even owned by Daimler. Kenworth and Peterbilt have a rebadged DAF LF, sold in US. Western Star Cascadia and 57X are just a rebodied Mercedes-Benz Actros with a nose. MACK are also basically just rebranded Volvo's.
@Automation What are you on about??? Get some serious help bro??? I didnt say Euro trucks are distasteful I just love appreciate something that looks completely different other than what looks the same in general not specifically which brand and I will always appreciate other culture around the world as an enthusiast with some great features regarding which makers. I would prefer and give it to American truck makers in terms of design not engine.
My biggest criticism of KW T680NG is that cabinet doors are not standard, they're an optional upgrade feature. Dumbest idea ever.. Same with the desk too, it's an extra optional feature. I think FL has it when it comes to the desk (it's a drawer between the wardrobe and lower cabinet). It doesn't look weird. FL also has a utility drawer, and just more storage in general. Had to drive an NG for about a month, and it sucked. I couldn't wait to get back into my FL, way easier to organise
Funny you say this because I prefer the 680ng over the shaker, yes there’s more room in the shaker, but the interior of the kw to me is better quality. Everything from the seat to the bunk wall insulation (we got a new shaker and some of the cabinet latches wouldn’t stay latched.. I’m not a cascadia guy by any means. But you can keep them 😂
My 3 favorite trucks are Freightliner Colombia 70" double bunk with Dbl sleeper doors and side boxes. And West coast mirrors with spots top and bottom T800 daycab with a small bunk sit-down Hard cab old school west coast mirrors with spot mirrors top and bottom. On the Short nose 388 Pete setup same as t800. 240" wb. 525 ISX Cummins 13 speed stick 390 rears on 11R22.5 rubber. T800 and the Pete have a 2 line wet kit single under drivers door 150 gal fuel tank and on passenger side the hydraulic tank and Cabover style Battery boxes. They all have 48" tall 60" slide 5th wheels bobbed frames (Schneider National container hauler style) class 5 reese hitch for a pintle hook. 60" half fenders. KW and Pete have a aluminum headache rack. And a Blockable 5th wheel for frameless dumps. All 3 have a proper moose bar bumper. And 10 hole classic Alcoas all around With Disc Brakes. A big CB. Clean paint job Black With Red stripe with Gold pinstripe with a Silver pin stripe inside the Gold. Frame is Red. With a Full deck plate. Red is Cummins Red.
When I worked for Crete they handed me an LT. Wasn't happy by any means, but it had 2 redeeming qualities. The outward visibility was so good I felt I was driving a really tall car, and the front seats remain the most comfortable in my 9 years driving. Other than that, it was a cheap unreliable waste and was very happy to leave that truck behind when I left the company
As someone who has driven real miles behind the wheel of the majority of the trucks listed... I agree with this videos rankings. 1. Volvo 2. Peterbilt 3. Kenworth Everything else is just sub par IMO
It maybe regional, but I feel like Western Stars are just harder to see on the road. I‘d say it goes Freightliners, Volvos, Kenworths/Peterbilts, then Internationals, MACKS and then Western Stars.
As a trucker interior is super important especially the seat. I like my peterbilt 579 don't like freightliner rough ride back killer cheap interior. I heard Volvo nice never driven one
Wow, American trucks have come along way from the 500 gauges, bolted woodgrain panels and alloy two spokes steering wheels. They actually look modern these days
@@marklittle8805 They also don’t spend half of the year in the shop because of sensor issues or emissions tech related problems. Granted the modern interiors are very nice, and they probably ride better too
@@Namisincere well my last truck was fine . It was a modern truck with the DEF and all that crap. I don't disagree that is an issue, but outside of that there is NOTHING about the older trucks is better than the new ones

Western Star 57x right now has the best interior…if equipped with the sleeper table and digital dashboard with..,the only truck that has Apple CarPlay.
I drove a 2019 t680 is roomy but reliable wise it's aromatic transmission is junk and I had nothing but electrical problems honestly as a 6 foot 5 guy is a struggle but I love my Mack pinnacle maybe small but it's extremely reliable
Yes International is not the best but i love the instruments are so classic. I would love to see the instruments (speed/ RPM) in the other trucks. Because im not that big fan of this TV Screens in the truck for the speed/RPM etc. I like it classic and basic like in the Mack, Volvo & International. But to be fair the Peterbuilt screen looks best.
Sleepers don't matter to me, I don't use them. My favorite interior is the first generation Kenworth B model cab with the bumpout that was added later, mid 90s-2002ish era. They're very rigid, don't get rattly, aren't made of the cheap brittle plastic that plagues many newer interiors, and look very good. The cherry on top is how much easier it is to take them apart and deal with gauge issues or adding switches, compared to newer designs where it's obvious that it was designed to be hard to take apart.
I’ve noticed Peterbilt interiors, specifically 389’s, force you to get or stay fit. But that doesn’t take away from how comfy and cozy they are.
It's not good to weigh 400lbs and drive a truck, your asking for the Grim Reaper to be your dispatcher!!!

That T680 and Cascadia w/o a visor over the windshield is comparable to wearing a ball cap backwards, lol!
Europe: we have the most luxurious semi trucks
USA: hold my beer
Maybe. You. Should. Kept. Your. Ass. In🇦🇩🇦🇫🇦🇫🇦🇪🇦🇮🇦🇮
western star is elite in my opinion. reliability of a freightliner and the luxury of a kenworth.
Since I work in a fleet, I know most of these interiors and thus I agree with this score.
Now this is what I like. Show the inside, that’s what matters!!
Love kenworth and peterbilt interiors
I gotta give Mack (Volvo) props. I drive an Anthem day cab dragging damn near 90K across I68 in MD and WV everyday hauling containers. Motors are pretty damn stout. It's a living...
Now that’s saying something! That I68 is no joke when it comes to trucking!
Interessantes Video!!! Hat mir sehr gefallen 👍
Long before the T680, the Kenworth W900 and K100 introduced the VIT (Very Important Trucker) interior, the Aerodyne sleeper and the Studio Sleeper. The base interior in Kenworths is the luxury interior in other trucks.
kenworth and Peterbilt trucks are my favourite
That "can fit up to two CPAP machines" line was mad funny 😂
😂 1:20 a truck driver with peppers and fruit in their fridge. “Gotta have me a pepper after that butt pucker run down the pass” 😅
Bout to jump deep into this rabbit hole
My favorite trucks inside and out are the K100E and Western Star 4900.
Only weirdos drive western star
Having driven a Freaghtliner century a International prostar a KW T660 studio sleeper and a T680 the prostar's interior is the best for comfort when not driving and driving
This is very nice, I've always wanted to become a truck driver
I hope I can do it one day
This discussion was over when International issued the beige Eagle interior. No maker has improved on it yet
Can you do a comparison of these units that have 500k miles on them to see how they hold up?
Only the KW’s and Pete’s will last.
@@ericcapek3805 True. Volvo, Freighliner, WesternStar, International and Mack fall apart. I drove many of them with 500k and over on the motor and and are nothing like when they are new.
Ain't nun like a good ole peterbuilt🤙🏻 or kensworth
I've driven a lit of different types of trucks but I think my favorite interior would have to be the Western Star 5700ex
Yeah, the 5700XE has a really cool interior. I love the old school dash and the real wood cabinets.
For me it's the freightliner century because it has the lowest dash height. However the best guages by far are in the T660.
Such a informative vedio really appreciate your hard work
Keep it up ♥️♥️
Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰🇵🇰
Thank you so much 👍
Watching this so I can buy myself the best truck in American Truck Simulator, as if i'm really going to live in it xD
ye gawds. my company bought a pile of 680s for the highway and they were a mechanic's wet dream.
I like the way how they switch from Australian trucking to American trucking on the Mack trucks.
i liked my dads freightliner classic xl with the 84in sleeper had a 12.7 60 series Detroit 18 speed
I'm retired but toggle switches are so much easier than rockers. Put extenders on them and no more looking. Easy to reach.
Interesting to see American trucks and their features.
Greetings from Germany 👋🏼
What I don't like about US trucks that they all have same yellow parking brake and red trailer brake.
All trucks outside US and Canada have different style parking brakes, even electronic parking brakes.
@@automation7295 As an Italian it bores me that I always see flat face Euro trucks that also look the same. Debatable
@@TFSIChristmas Even some American would probably say the same thing about American trucks
You can always move to US if you're bored of seeing European cabover trucks.
@@TFSIChristmas I also love how people can freely say they're bored of seeing a vehicle, yet they don't get bored of seeing their family members.
And West coast mirrors with spots top and bottom
T800 daycab with a small bunk sit-down
Hard cab old school west coast mirrors with spot mirrors top and bottom.
And 10 hole classic Alcoas all around
With Disc Brakes. A big CB. Clean paint job Black With Red stripe with Gold pinstripe with a Silver pin stripe inside the Gold. Frame is Red. With a Full deck plate. Red is Cummins Red.
Thanks for sharing 👍
The best interior is the one that doesn't rattle.
had a 2019’international. man that was a roomy sleeper berth
I love my peterbuilt 389 18 speed long nose with my big sleeper plenty of storage
perfect truck
Internationals shouldn't even be mentioned in a video like this.
They had the shortest showcase for a reason.🤣😅😂
... and Mac being behind the International. These two are built for companies - cheep and noisy, not drivers' trucks.
When I worked for Crete they handed me an LT. Wasn't happy by any means, but it had 2 redeeming qualities. The outward visibility was so good I felt I was driving a really tall car, and the front seats remain the most comfortable in my 9 years driving. Other than that, it was a cheap unreliable waste and was very happy to leave that truck behind when I left the company
better than a freightliner.
Truck for hauling? no
Truck for living? maybe
Truck for Racing? well, why not
hmm Truck racing is a thing :)
Maravilhoso Caminhão
Our Canadians prefer Peterbilt and cascadia
Great trucks
No we don’t
@@TruckTropia what is the above message
As someone who has driven real miles behind the wheel of the majority of the trucks listed... I agree with this videos rankings.
1. Volvo 2. Peterbilt 3. Kenworth
Everything else is just sub par IMO
I absolutely cannot get the seat in my Cascadia comfortable.
Wish you would have added the Ford Aeromax. They have a nice interior and loved to drive that.
My favorite trucks are the freightliner mack and international trust me them get the done 👍👍👊🙏🙏👏👍🙌
Get the job done that's what I mean 👍💞💞👏🙏
I’ve driven every brand except the Western Star and I definitely favor the Kenworth.
How about the peterbilt? Is it solid?
Waiting for the Paccar next generation in my ATS game :)
MACK got 3rd place? Ok but, I think the MACK is the best looking, that's a beautiful machine.
Company driver: “Hi I live in a smart home on wheels that constantly breaks after 100,000 miles of ownership.”
Has anyone figured out cup holders yet?
LOVE THAT DETROIT NOISE!!❤❤
It's a hard decision.
I think:
1st) Peterbilt.
2nd) Western Star.
3rd) Volvo.
Me as a driver through Europe...
RUclips: watch this American semi's interior because I heard you talk about Scania and Iveco 🤣
It maybe regional, but I feel like Western Stars are just harder to see on the road. I‘d say it goes Freightliners, Volvos, Kenworths/Peterbilts, then Internationals, MACKS and then Western Stars.
Spek bukit barisan dan sejajarannya di lihat dari pembandul body depan, tracktor faktori
Western, KW, and Mack, but I want to use them for Tanker hauling. I don't know which one is better fitted
Kenworth T 680👍🏾 the sexiest Truck on the road..OTR
As a trucker interior is super important especially the seat. I like my peterbilt 579 don't like freightliner rough ride back killer cheap interior. I heard Volvo nice never driven one
I like mack and caterpillar CT 680
👍👍👍👍👍
If I could pick things from each of these trucks and combine them I would be the only one selling trucks.
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 MACK
Clearly all of this cab is nice BUT like O/O thinking how much will spend to keep all this sensor , computers and electronic working properly
Wow, American trucks have come along way from the 500 gauges, bolted woodgrain panels and alloy two spokes steering wheels.
They actually look modern these days
old school looks way better
I’ll take a 379 or w900 over any of the plastic trucks any day of the week
Half the guys would rather have the old school trucks. Never mind they burn more fuel and have smaller cabs
I drive and like my cascadia now but that volvo def wins because of the reclining bunk.
I really hope that it will keep me busy looking for you and the other day for your next week or a week or so and your next week will be greatly missed out for your but I am so so so so sorry to say that but you are so so proud of your self but I am so happy for your soul and your Kenworth truck’s
Ken Worth seems to be the best inside. Also cascadia with the table in the back is nice. Volvo is very outdated inside.
The Mack den came back.
They are all something to look at.
Freight shaker
My vote
Western Star 57x right now has the best interior…if equipped with the sleeper table and digital dashboard with..,the only truck that has Apple CarPlay.
I drove a 2019 t680 is roomy but reliable wise it's aromatic transmission is junk and I had nothing but electrical problems honestly as a 6 foot 5 guy is a struggle but I love my Mack pinnacle maybe small but it's extremely reliable
Damn, aromatic transmission, it’s like flavortown.
its like truckers get better catering services than pilots
Impossible choose one
After a few months in a new truck,,you ask why they did it that way,,like why is that fridge a bit small for long haul trips
