- The sequel no one asked for! The first edition of No.'s Favorite News Intros admittedly were not as successful as I first thought. And I know exactly why. Too much baguette.
Today, I will be showing you MUCH more interesting (in my opinion) news intros--from the late 60s through the early 2000s (though if you know me, mostly 80s and 90s). Oldschool computer graphics and synth music galore. Because that's just how it has to be.
I DO NOT own the intros used in this video; if I did, I would be worth billions of dollars and I'd be president of the world. I'm not president of the world. Therefore, I do not own these intros. Got it? Good.

It’s nice to see vintage intros with real creativity, rather than the homogenized crap we have now.
The similarities between the 1986 Newsmagazine and Informe Semanal intros might probably be due to using what is probably a stock intro.
Another possibility is that both are newsmagazines.
There's much better news intros that I don't know about.

Notes:
-Stod 2 is supposed to be Stoð 2 but the font I was using wouldn't allow that character for some reason.
-Le Telejournal is supposed to be Radio Canada.
-KSL's news open is, to my knowledge, the only intro in this Compilation to win a Broadcast design award.
Tagesschau actually used the intro I showed until 1997, with a background footage variant used afterwards.
Edit March 2021 (dunno who'd be watching by now): The "Big 2 News" intro was used from 1983 to...1995 :|
And the Bom Dia ID was from Bom Dia São Paulo before other Brazilian states even had local morning newscasts.

"Jornal" is supposed to be "Journal" (Journal Tele-Luxembourg).
Stod 2 is actually supposed to be Stöð 2.

15:20 I’ve never seen a CGI version of the DT intro. All of the broadcasts I’ve seen so far used the early 1980s intro.
Looks like it must have have been short lived, as DT would have been replaced with Wiadomosci shortly after the fall of Communism in Poland.

Spains's TVE Telediario from 1983-1985 also had a very good intro.
I met Al Terzi and Janet Peckinpaugh at a telethon event around 1985, while they were at WTNH. I was just a kid and my dad knew how fascinated I was by broadcasting, so he got them to come up to me to say hi. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.
I like WTKR's the best, it has one of my favorite Stephen Arnold news packs, Global Village. The good cuts of Global Village were on the WTLV/WJXX duopoly in Jacksonville, Florida from 2000 to 2006.
I actually like that one too just because it's so out of character for 1994 (compared to other American newscast intros at the time)

1986 the NBC newsmagazine was notable for using Rush's "Mystic Rhythms" as its theme early on (2nd clip from July 8)
the theme form informe semanal is still used today but with a different (and more lame) intro. I wish they just made a HD version of the original and used that, maybe with some slight changes.

In my opinion, TJ Brasil's intro is the best news intro in history. And i mean it. I wish SBT made a Better intro for their current news program, SBT Brasil, to compensate for the 17 years of boring intros. Except for the 2013 one.

Actually the “Bom Dia” part was called “Bom Dia São Paulo.”

Even better, the music used in the intro is titled "Here is the News" (by Electric Light Orchestra), which is very fitting.

Judging by the concept, the KTNV news intro is by far one of the most original American local news opens.

-TVE's Informe Semanal (1987) literally copied 1986 Newsmagazine, both intros look pretty much the same
-TV 11 News from WBAL-TV is amazing for its time period
-same with that Le Journal intro from Africa
Both are newsmagazines.
