A nice walk Jordan, many thamks for that. It would be nice to see the entire length of the ouseburn protected, and any development along it's length forced to have due regard to natural wildlife concerns. I look forward to seeing a follow up on this walk with more information.
Thanks!
Can i just say mate, I really enjoy your super nerdy urban planning content :)
Thanks mate! :)
Its the Ouseburn down by the Tyne below the Battlefield Jordan. Brunton Burn to me and my friends from Kenton in the late fifties early sixties. It was full of sticklebacks, leaches, caddis fly larvae. Sad to see the city getting out that far and almost reaching Dinnington. The inner city accommodation must be needed for the for university.
So the Metro green line follows the Ouseburn valley?
It roughly follows the same direction, but most metro stations are about 20 minutes from the river
@@JordanReeve I love your Metro trains, i.m.o. the best in the world (better than in London or in my city Munich). When they were brand new, I went to Newcastle to ride around on them for a day (sometime early 80's). I think they used the BR Class 76's to help build the line, that belongs forever to the history of the line. They absolutely must preserve one complete unit.
I think they’re great rolling stock, starting to show their age and breakdown a lot. But they’re very spacious trains inside.
I bought the land for the A696 Woolsington Road Improvement when I worked on Trunk Road Programme in the mid eighties as a civil servant. I also bought the land for the approach roads of the Gateshead Metro Centre. I was also responsible for the bus de-regulation policy in the north east in 1985/6
