as always, such clean videos ! awesome work Spencer! love the rig and the P4K is definitely the camera I want in a future to replace my A cam (Lumix G9) btw, I'm getting my GX85 on January, super excited ! (inspired on you)
Forgive me for the distorted audio at some points in this video! I was recording audio directly to the S1 with the Rodelink wireless kit. I took my limiter off and adjusted my gain because I wanted the most dynamic range in my audio (Apparently I still talk too loud). I found out later that was a bad idea lol. Drop any questions you may have!
Thank you my friend! I have never put the full rig on a steady or gimbal. I strip the Pocket down to only the cage, and I add on an NPF battery adapter on the top right of my cage to power the camera.
Good question. I actually have 2 Viltrox's, the reason being is because I have a mix of manual & electronic lenses. On my GX85 & GH5, you have to block the electronic contact points on the back of the Viltrox for the GH5/GX85 to mount manual lenses (Weird I know). So I have one Viltrox with the contact points taped off and the other doesn't. That being said, the Viltrox is limited in that regard, unlike the Metabones which doesn't have that issue. I also will say the Viltrox gets very soft wide open, so even though you get an extra stop of light, it's probably best to stop back down a 1/2 or full stop to sharpen it up. Again, the Metabones doesn't have that issue. Now, with all that being said, I purchased 2 Viltrox's for 250 bucks brand new, and the Metabones is 650 for one!
@@SpencerWhiteman Why would you have to block the contacts on the viltrox? I have the viltrox mk2 and i can mount a rokinon manual lens to my pocket 4k or lumix g9 no problem at all... what happens to your cameras if you dont block the contacts?
If im correct the atmos shinobi can only show 4k30fps. That meand if im shooting 4k in 60fps or 120 for slow motion, it wont show up? If yes do you think thats a big flaw? Debating what monitor to get. Whats your review on your monitor?
i believe that was the case with some older monitors, where you couldn't even display (black screen) a certain frame rate on the monitor that wasn't supported. The Shinobi allows me to use a 4K 60P feed, but it only displays at 30p on the monitor. So essentially the feed it shows you is just a bit more "choppy" since it is taking that 60p feed and displaying it at 30p, which is not an issue at all since the 4k 60p file is still being recorded in the camera and monitoring it at that "reduced" frame rate doesn't throw me off, I actually prefer monitoring 60p at 30p. I believe some cameras still do that internally (I think my Panasonic S1's built in lcd screen does that).
I typically use Tiffen BPM 1/4 and a Variable ND. The Variable ND is a screw on, so it's a little annoying to adjust, but still easier than drop ins. Whereas my Tiffen BPM is a 4x4 drop in.
Hey brotha, I'm doing great, I hope you are as well Vlado! For my talking head stuff, I usually use a Godox sl60w with a big softbox. I have a bunch of different lights though, I have 2 1k tungsten open face lights that I use here and there with a big waterfall of shower curtain diffusion, 750w Lowel Tota, and I have an Aputure Amaran 528S and a couple of small cheap yongnuo panels as well. For this video, I used a cheap yongnuo panel to give the rig some rim light for some of the shots, and then the background warmer lights are just lights that are built into my hoodvent lol.
Do you usually remove bmpcc original battery from a camera? Or it’s there inside even when you plug in v mount battery? I have the same situation but my camera doesn’t turning on without original canon battery, even with v mount 160wh
There is negative talk on leaving the battery inside the pocket while running a v-mount or npf, but I've never had issues, I leave my internal battery inside the camera all the time.
I use an NPF adapter that has 12v output run into the 12v input on the side of the pocket 4k. This way it's the exact same as if you were using the wall adapter. You can leave the internal battery in and it will charge it the same as if it was plugged into the wall... Its the best way imo. Be careful with v mounts cause they are usually 14.8v if im not mistaken and should be stepped down to 12v before going thru the dc input imo.

Thank you my man! That is amazing Andy! You're going to love the GX85, it's the perfect companion to your G9. You can carry it everywhere!

This and being unable to predict the Sun, unexcusable.
Perfect size rig. You ever put it on a gimble or steadycam?

Good combination, my rig is similar. But I decided on tilta.
i have the v lock plate directly onto the rod clamps, makes the profile a bit slimmer.
Oh nice!
Good stuff! My main BMPCC4K rig is a bit of a Frankenstein...I might need to change it up to be more like yours.
Haha don't worry man, mine is a WIP as well! Mine does have a really nice balance though ;)
How do you like the Viltrox? I have heard that it's not as good as the Betabones?

What kind of filters and filtration do you use? :) I have magnetic circular filters but haven't gotten any IR filter yet.
