Do love the format, especially as long a you keep in the just pure reactions as they come along. It's not necessary to stop the video on those moments, but we're here to see you smile/laugh/cry and get taken in by the magic of the movies/songs, don't foget that :D
Fun fact: Stephanie Beatriz was in labour while recording "Waiting on a Miracle." She didnt want to freak anybody out so she didnt say anything through the recording session until they finished 😅
Fun fact about Surface Pressure: Lin describes it as a love letter and apology to his older sister because he saw the extra pressure and responsibilities that were put on her as the oldest child that he didn’t experience as the younger sibling.
I would love this! There seems to be less that mortius hasn't seen, but I feel like Casper's often deeper musical analysis could work really well to suppliment Mortius's slightly more story based and emotional first time reaction to something! (I would also love to see what Casper's obsessions are and experience them with mortius)
"You think Hercules was ever like 'yo I don't wanna fight Cerberus'" is the most Lin-Manuel line and delivery. I know people say they can hear Lin in Bruno most but for me, it's No Pressure.
"Under the surface, I hide my nerves and it worsens, I worry something is gonna hurt us/Under the surface, the ship doesn't swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is--" Yeah, Surface Pressure is very strongly Lin to me
My favourite detail about _Waiting On A Miracle_ is that she ends up doing all of those things. Moving the mountains, helping Isabella learn how to grow new trees and flowers, healing what's broken, showing the family something new, and shining like the rest of the family shines... everything she complains that she can't do, she ends up doing. _Except_ keeping down the unspoken invisible pain, because that's not healthy or good.
Casper’s immediate joking Nat 20 on the “imagine she gets nothing” ACTUALLY took my breath away hahaha 😂 like such a visceral gasp and I covered my mouth like a Victorian spinster. Absolutely iconic hahaha
34:24 at about this point in the movie my mother (a therapist) looked at me and said “Mirabel’s power is being a therapist” glad to see Casper is on the same wavelength.
Dude, I feel like mortious has a really obvious tell to his poker face He ALWAYS puts fingers on his mouth each time I haven't noticed it until now but but now that I think back on it it's a really obvious sign lol
That peep noise that Dolores (the one that can hear really well) is tied back to a “secret” language that Columbians (the movie is set in Columbia) would use to communicate with the Spanish Conquistadors invaded!
13:38 the accordion is actually very southern American, my Tìo was in a mariachi in his teens and early 20’s and his go to instrument was the accordion. He actually got all us grandkids some when we were kids to teach us how to play.
Totally agree. I'm form Colombia (where the movie takes place on) and there is a very specific genre of music from here called Vallenato, which main instrument is the accordion so it's very common in our music, and in latin american music actually
Yes! Plus, not all latam music sounds the same. I'm Venezuelan, literally next door to Colombia, and our music is Musica Llanera, which is basically only harp, cuatro (An acoustic 4 string guitar) and maracas (shakers?). Super different from Vallenato!
Well, technically Chekhov's Gun is named after a russian classic writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. In a letter to a fellow writer, back in 1889, he said "There should not be a loaded gun on the wall in the scene, if you don't intend for it to shoot. Don't make false promises"
Actually, Luisa isnt the eldest child but the middle sister, as Isabella is the oldest. This also means, that Isabella as the oldest has to face similar if not more pressure than Luisa (also because Alma/Abuela watches Isabella closely), but it also highlights that Luisa as middle child often gets overlooked and feels like she´s not useful if she doesnt work. Middle Children often get ignored, so it must be hard for Luisa to overwork herself constantly just to get the recognision she needs.
Couple fun facts! After watching a wide variety of reactors including ones from South America, I learned that accordions are actually featured prominently in music from the country this is set it, which is Colombia. Also, contrary to most assumptions, Luisa is actually not the oldest sister! She is actually the middle child, but she was treated as the most capable and responsible member due to the fact that her “gift” is very utilitarian and the only gift that is really helpful to the villagers in day-to-day life. This is actually something that I relate to quite a bit, as I am also the middle child and the “strongest”. Also, Disney initially made a bunch of Isabella merch, but when the movie came out, Luisa was a much more popular character so they had to quickly make more merch of her. They were expecting all the kids to be super excited about the “princess” character, but so many people loved and related to Luisa that it was actually quite funny to watch.
11:40 Acorddions are actually quite usted in latinamerican music, it was brought by inmigrants, but we use it a lot in Tango, merengue, sertaneja, etc. Sorry for any ortografic mistakes, i dont write in english often.
Yes! Finally the love and recognition Surface Pressure deserves! It's my favorite too! The lines that hit me the most are: "I think I might be worthless if I can't be of service" that feeling of doing selfless acts, and feeling like there's no you outside of that, or rather you're nothing without your deeds really hits hard. It can almost make a person feel selfish for doing good things because it feels more like a preservation of identity and image instead of a genuine altruism which just increases the guilt. Just patching a hole with more holes. "Give it to you sister it doesn't hurt and see if she can handle every family burden/watch as she buckles and bends but never breaks, no mistakes" Just imagining all the times people speculate, even if she struggles a little bit, anyone watching is just like, "eh, it's Luisa, I'm sure she's fine" and never just getting asked if she's okay before? Absolutely heartbreaking. And like Mortius pointed out, " give it to your sister and never wonder if the same pressure would have pulled you under" like not only the fact that the work she does would put someone else in the ground, but that no one even considers her when they make her do it. Like sure she's proven she can and she's willing, but no one even thinks about her like a person anymore. Just another hardworking donkey.
this format makes a lot of sense for your channel, the preplanned breaks really seems to make you both focus on what's going on without Mortius having to look for a nice spot to pause. In any case, loving your reactions as always. And I hope everyone who reads this has a lovely day
AHHHH THE THING WITH MIRABEL STAYING BACK 21:16 Literally every time I watch this movie I point it out and I have NEVER seen or heard anyone else talk about it. I always talk about it because I understand how that feels and it’s AUUGHH 🤩 I’m so glad you mentioned it
i believe that bruno's prophecies, except for isabella and dolores, are all misinterpretations of what bruno says. For example: - the woman whose fish dies: pets eventually die. - the gut man: if he ate too much, he was going to grow a gut - the bald man: most men end up bald. it's not really rocket science But with Peppa and Felix's wedding there is something more complicated: I am not Colombian, but I am from Ecuador (neighboring country) and I have heard that when it rains in events like quinceañeras or weddings, it means luck, but also saying that it is going to rain is a way of saying that a couple is not going to last. So it is possible that Peppa misinterpreted Bruno wishing him luck (I feel that Bruno is not very good socially)
Not to mention that the jar she has that fish in is too small and it could have been sick, that might not have been a prophecy so much as a warning that the conditions you have that fish in are going to kill it, you might want to put it in a better container. I completely agree about Pepa's wedding, Bruno was making a joke about rain given traditional superstitions (that other little brothers can make without issue and because Bruno is superstitious it makes it even more likely) or trying to awkwardly wish luck and she freaked out because she thought it was a prophecy and then because she is Pepa, boom storm.
I mean he says it in “All of You” - he saw Pepa was nervous and made a joke that landed badly (“That wasn’t a prophecy/ I could just see you were sweating!) which then caused her to freak and storm 😢
The ends of both We Don't Talk About Bruno and Nonstop from Hamilton are callbacks to Lin's adoration for the musical Les Miserables. In both of those songs, you can see how he was influenced by the Act 1 closer of Les Mis, One Day More.
30:23 YES agreed I'm a natural alto/contralto and prior to encanto and surface pressure the most comfortable songs to sing were villian songs like my lullaby from lion king 2
if they do, they HAVE to do a bootleg of the show/stage recording and not animatics, it's important they see the lighting and props and costumes and all the special effects. Plus, all of the acting is REALLY physical, so they would loose a lot from animatics only.
I think prefer when you guys pause when you think/see/hear something interesting, i like when you go on tangents, because bring more of you guys and makes the video different from other reactions
I like this new format! Also, Casper’s analysis skills (literary and musically) will never stop impressing me. He is so smart when he’s being smart. And then he uh. has his other moments 😁🫶
ALTOS RISE UP!!! Edit: Also as the baby sister of three, I super, super relate to Mirabel. This movie made me UGLY SOB the first few times I watched it, making me relate and reflect on my own troubled family and upbringing. I wish I could have had the opportunity, courage and MATURUTY, of Mirabel at 15. It might have changed the course of my life. But, I'm so glad this movie likely helped another young girl have a chance to change her life early, while it gave me some closure on my own early years to help me move forward into the future.
"Waiting On a Miracle", "Surface Pressure" and another song (the one near the end that makes nearly everyone cry) are my favorites. In "Surface Pressure" I love that she sings in her character voice the whole time and it still sounds good, natural and healthy. Pepa makes me feel so seen in so many ways and her and Feliz, are the relationship goals that I want in my life❤ Edit: Also, Camilo, darling, Bruno wasn't really that tall, you were just a short, baby when you last saw him...seven foot tall, seriously?
So, Calypso music mostly comes from the Caribbean islands. It originated in Trinidad and Tobago during the early to mid-19th century and spread to the rest of the Caribbean Antilles by the mid-20th century. Fun fact: Calypso evolved into a way of spreading news around Trinidad, and many islanders considered these songs the most reliable news source. Calypso singers pushed the boundaries of free speech as their lyrics spread news of any topic relevant to island life, including speaking out against political corruption. Sex, scandal, gossip, politics, local news, and insulting other calypso singers were the order of the day in classic calypso, *just as it is today with classic hip-hop.* And just as the hip-hop of today, the music sparked shock and outrage in moralistic sections of society.
30:52 it’s actually inspired in reggaeton music but is mixed with classical Broadway musical music so it’s sounds appealing and not too different from the rest of the soundtrack
Luisa has my favorite Song! Also that woman just casually asking her to rearrange the River?? Doe these People just rearrange the River everytime it seems convinient???
well that also happens irl, as in rearranging the path of a river. Although it does take a lot of time and machinery. But honestly I'm unsure how Luisa is supposed to do that, yes she's strong, but she isn't a literal machine. Probably using a shovel, would be my guess. But even with her strength that would probably take days.
People ask overworked people to do unnecessary stuff all the time - or things that they could do alone, such as retrieving the donkeys. When people get into the habit of using X as the go-to, they get lazy.
A lot of this story is stuff you would absolutely have found in any real family, like sister dynamics and cousins and so forth. But, this is also most definitely a case of how generational trauma can shape entire families. Every last magical power is tied to an element of trauma/coping with it, from Peppa's moodswings being a result of trying to keep a sunny disposition at the expense of her own feelings to Bruno being the scapegoat because he's the one to point out bad news- which Abuelita Alma desperately stamps out whenever she sees it. Mirabel becoming the NEW scapegoat is especially painful; her not getting a special power was a living, walking, breathing sign of imperfection in the family, and in a family where the head treats a family member as 'less than' or "the problem", everyone else tends to fall into line with them- well-intentioned or otherwise. Isabela is a fascinating study on the pressure of daughters to Be Perfect creating resentment at having to swallow who they REALLY are, and how it manifests by being taken out on others- especially the family black sheep, like Mirabel. I'm really happy at how they handle her story. Also, did you notice that "Waiting On A Miracle", Mirabel's main song, is 3/4 time, while every other song is 4/4? Like she's the one out of step with the others? Or that even when she's in a 4/4 song, she's prone to chaining notes in triplets? (In The Family Madrigal, this comes out in the last portion while she dodges answering questions about herself). I wonder why she's associated with the number 3? With triplets? Hmmmm :3c Looking forward to seeing the latter half of your reaction to this movie! It's one of my favorites for personal reasons, which... hoo boy.
i would slightly rephrase referring to all latin music as one genre. There are so many genres of music that encompass “latino music”. Even pressure has aspects of regeton that others song dont have and i think its an over generalization to say that all latin music has 1 sound. I can tell yall are a bit unfamiliar with latin music lol
Nope, since here the actual oldest is treated like a trophy, the whole work got put on the srcond oldest, who still is an older sibling and gets bourdened like one
"Surface Pressure" is also my favorite song. It reminds me of my sister, who was forced to care for me and our baby brother when our mom went to work. She was the only girl in our family but really wasn't able to be a regular teen like others are. I can only imagine the pressure she was under.
First time I watched Encanto I had no clue LMM was behind the music. I got to the end and went “This has LMM all over it” and then saw his name in the end credits 😂 He really brings his own dna to the music.
Someone said this in a reply but i feel like i should bring this to the main comments: You guys seem like you'd really enjoy the Hatchetfield musical saga! They're up on youtube for free so you won't have much issue with copyright. In order they are Guy who Didn't Like Musicals, Black Friday, Nightmare Time(seasons 1&2, 7 episodes total), Nerdy Prudes Must Die (+a short film, Working Boys that came out most recently). If you dont want to watch the whole show the comments can fill you in on the pertinent lore you'd need for the show.
6:55 The house is one of the best characters in the movie. 10:04 I mean, Anton Chekov was a Russian guy, so you weren't wrong. 11:39 Specifically, 1950's Columbia. 16:13 Man, that kid is savage! 21:08 Everyone else in her family except one. Abuella also has no gift. 28:17 This one is probably my favorite song in the movie. And the donkeys are hilarious throughout. Also, did you notice that the door that Isabella was struggling to hold up is her own? 34:21 Mirabel is very much the heart of the family. Much like her Abuella.
Surface Pressure: me: crying because I can relate Mortius: all giddy and excited Casper: just playing the imaginary guitar and making faces It's funny how different reaction you can see with different people XD
Casper predictions on point as always 🤣 You were making a face. "you were able to predict the themes of a children's movie, I'm so proud of you" the SHADE 😆🔥
Yess, Encanto is such a beautiful movie.. not only the songs but everything the candle and the "powers" of the family members and the cracks stand for.. the symbolism is soo beautiful.
I also love that no one is evil, what alma did to her family eas terrible, but she is still treated with empathy, there was no maliciousness, she was deeply traumatised and had no one to lean on, nor any opportunity to heal, but she still gets called out ad needing to change.... It hits a very beautiful balance. Being well meaning is not an excuse for hurting others, but also, hurting others often is the opposite of the intention.... This is the first and only disney move with a real problem and the real solution to it. Empathy and communication, no magic needed for the true conflict. Julietta and augustine are wellmeaning and loving too, but they still missed how all 3 of their children where miserable since they where to busy ... Isabella and mirabel took out their frustraitions on each other in a lack of other options.... Everyone had a part in making the situation worse
Well done lining up the background green screen perfectly! Looks great! Surface Pressure is also my favorite. It’s probably the first time a Disney song talks honestly about self image (“I’m pretty sure I’m worthless if I can’t be of service”) and anxiety in such a forward way. Living for the new generation of Disney movies addressing the generational trauma and issues that come from pushing down emotions. Disney out here healing the grownups inner children while giving new generation some sweet bops about expressing your feelings. ❤
I reckon if they react to the Nightmare Time theme song (nice and short, not as intimidating as the hours and hours of Hatchetfield content) they’ll be so into it they’ll have to do all of Hatchetfield!
Interesting how surface pressure you relate to as the eldest. I relate to it as the youngest. My 2 older sisters will throw money at problems but it's me and my husband that have to visit my mum twice a week. Have to take her shopping. Have to sort things out for her. My husband has to do all the gardening and heavy lifting ect. (Now I can understand why my middle sister can't as she lives 5hr drive away but my eldest sister is the same distance of 30mins away from my mum.)
I think each family is different I’m the oldest in my family, not just siblings but cousins as well, and surface pressure put words to how I’ve felt my whole life, handling the stress of making sure no burden falls to my younger sister and cousin
I also think it depends on the dynamics as you grew up affecting how you interact as adults. My mom put a lot of pressure on me to care for my younger siblings and to pick up the household duties and now as an adult we don't speak often. We didn't speak when she lived 15min away and we don't speak now that we're hours away. My younger siblings are in charge of the communication with her.
I like the added layer of horror, that both the situation of luisa, the middle child, who had to put in all the effort while the actual oldest is treated like a trophy, is horrible and she drowns under the expectationd, but also tgr horror of the younger, just realising the strain, seing her struggle and having no clue what to do to help or make it in thr slightest better... Both experience powerlessness.... Every family is different, most often one of the older getd stuck with all tge tesponsabilities, the mifdle chilfren are invusable and the youngest doted on ot mastly raised by their siblings... I was the mediator and emotional support of my family since I was very young though
Technically the VA for Luisa it was her first time being on a huge project of Disney. She was on broadway but once Lin hired her she wasn’t sure if her character would even get any love since she’s such a smaller person. So all the deep moments in her song is truly her voice. I can not remember her name but she’s absolutely amazing
I always used to skip the the talking on reaction/analysis videos, but watching you two made me actually appreciate the analysis side. I also just really enjoy watching you both just enjoy and talk about things, I'm so glad OAR exists bc it's like the perfect platform for that. TL;DR, Really appreciate what you two do here
As a soprano/mezzo soprano (kinda a weird mix of the two), I so agree!! Altos need more songs in Disney and musical theatre, they don’t get enough time to shine :(
I like that you had dedinitive spots in the movie where you knew for sure you were going to pause and talk more in depth. I felt like it gave a hood balance of having the reaction but also giving time to discuss what was happening. So I like where you're going with this new format.
I haven't started the video yet, but can I just say that both of you look fucking amazing! Those shirts are fucking fine my dudes!!! I also like how it's kinda opposite with Mortius in a white floral shirt and black everything on the head, and Capser with a black floral shirt and a white headband and his partially white headphones. I'm pretty sure you guys just said "lets do floral, but it truly pleases my eye :)
As the parentified eldest sibling, there was one line in Surface Pressure that hits me in the guts, especially the first time I ever heard it; " I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service...". My entire sense of self-worth was tied to being the 'big helper', the responsible one, the one who is expected to support the whole family and hold everything together. I love my sibs, but it's such a relief as an adult to have some distance and the space to figure out who the f* I am and what -I- want to do with -MY- life separate from what my family demanded of me
I love how every oldest sibling ever immeadiately imprints on Luisa 😂😂😂 Also the delivery of the "good job predicting the themes of a children's movie. I'm so proud of you" was brutal. I laughed so hard I hurt my vocal chords XD
Crazy amazing thing: Stephanie Beatriz was actually in LABOUR when she sang "Waiting on a Miracle." My favourite part of "We don't talk about Bruno" is Dolores. It's very much about how she hears the world. Her part is whispered and all these tiny ambient noises are amplified and incorporated in the song. Swishing skirts, steps on the floor.
We dont talks about bruno no no no we dont talk about BRUNOOOOO but it was my wedding day we were getting married and there wasnt a cloud in the skyyyyyy Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin THUNDER!!!! YOURE TELLING THE STORY OR AM I????!!!!!
The voice actor who sang Surface Pressure released a kinda jazzy version and you can see that it’s all her - it’s an amazing performance, and unusually good casting (imo) for Disney
accordions are one of colombian music intruments bases, yes, they were not invented here, however they are the base of almost our traditional music, and surface pressure is indeed the least colombian yet, but it does have elements of cumbia - our most recognizeble autochthonous music genre - and reggaeton - a PR genre that is hugely popular here in Colombia and we are currently like the second or third country that produces the msot reggaeton music and artist, Karol G/Maluma/Jbalvin being the main ones globally.
First, I like the way this is set up. You had enough time to break things down without dragging it out. Personally, I’m crazy enough to sit and listen to you do a full reaction to each and every song, but I know that’s not really feasible, so this is a great compromise. Second, as the oldest of three, Luisa is my GIRL! I relate to her so hard, especially since I was also put into the gifted programs and given responsibility at church… the expectation to hold everything together is real. The pressure is so real. Thank you for doing this one, I absolutely love it, and I can’t wait to see Casper see whether he was right or wrong. 🥰
I'm the 4th of 5 siblings, with an unofficial adopted sister who we took in. (She was dating someone of another race so her parents kicked her out as soon as she turned 18... parents who do that suck.) My family latched onto this movie right away, although we argue about which character represents each of us. My adopted sister is a bit of a gossiper. Nearly all of us saw her as Dolores right away. The eldest daughter is a "big girl" and right away felt akin to Luisa. We all fully agree, except for my other sister who scoffed at her, "When did YOU ever carry the weight of the family on your shoulders? You went into hysterics when Mom broke her leg, and I had to call for an ambulance while the two little kids put pressure on the bleeding. You were 22, they were in middle school!" She sees the eldest as Pepa for being "an emotional wreck." (Yikes!) THAT beeatch of a sister sees herself as Luisa instead, the strong one with all the weight on her shoulders. Emotionally strong? Sure, she keeps a level head in dangerous moments. Physically strong though? Helping with housework, repairs, or anything beyond tending her flower garden? Oh heck no! She'd turn on the rest of us siblings at the drop of a hat if it meant looking more "perfect" in the eyes of our mother. I see her as Isabella. As little kids, we even used to say that she was "the perfect daughter," a title she gloated in, with her perfect hair, perfect sense of style, she married the "perfect" man to help the family's image (who ended up betraying her). Ironically, the eldest think SHE is Pepa, someone who explodes emotionally (true) and refuses to talk about our brother (also true). It's funny how those two sibling rivals argue over who is Pepa. I see my brother as both Camillo -- the chameleon of the family who tries to fit in with whoever he's around, easily blending into any social situation with ease -- and also as Bruno, an outcast who some members of the family refuse to mention by name. (The "perfect daughter" disowned him for stupid reasons. She disowned me too for marrying a Jew. The family stopped caring about her hyper conservative opinions years ago.) The baby of the family was one we all agreed upon right away. She's sweet and good with animals. She's Antonio, 100%. Then there's me. I'm the one with glasses who lacks the skills, beauty, or physical strength of the others, but I have my own gift (music). While everyone else in the family fully agreed that I'm Mirabel, my "perfect" sister says I don't have "main character energy." (I'm certain she has no idea what that term means and only heard her kids say it.) She sees me as Dolores, which confused me. The adopted sister is the gossip, after all. Well, it turns out she doesn't count her because she's "only adopted." (Ouch! Screw people who feel that way.) Instead, she cited a moment in my childhood. Apparently, I had eavesdropped at her bedroom door while she was on the phone with her friend and overheard her brag about blaming my older brother for something she had done, which lead to him getting punished. I told my parents about what I had overheard, which led to her getting grounded while my brother and I were taken out for ice cream. They wanted to apologize to him for the false accusation, and to thank me for my honesty. I was SIX YEARS OLD. She was 13. I don't even remember this incident, it was over 30 years ago, but she still has not forgiven me. However, like I said, the family stopped caring about her opinions after turning out to be xenophobic. I'm surprised she didn't see me as Pepa as well, haha! Sibling rivalry at its best, arguing about who is who in a Disney cartoon, haha!
little fun fact about waiting on a miracle, Stephanie Beatriz was in labour while recording that song (and then named her daughter Rosaline after Rosa Diaz)
Oh I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one loving "Surface Pressure". Its my favourit one and I cried the first two times watching it. (Also the first time I saw an Alto shine and having a song I can sing along to without a problem)
fun fact: If you take the singing from certain encanto songs and put it over certain hamilton instrumentals, it'll still sound good and go together. theres videos on youtube showing that :)
Some fun facts: one of the instruments at the beginning during La Familia Madrigal is accurate to the area of Columbia that inspired the movie Also, when Stephanie Beatriz was recording the vocals for Waiting on a Miracle (which I agree is underrated), she was either in labor or within the last few days of her pregnancy, and gave birth shortly after. Just something cool 🤪
I really love Encanto, because of it is not about a fight between good and evil, but about healing generational trauma and understanding eachoter more. I also very mad at Disney, because I feel like this movie was criminally underpromoted at first. I have only heard about it way after release, while they promote other disney movies much much more. Also Luisa is just an amazing character, it is great to see someone not being the princess-beauty type, but having a very different bodytype and role and even her song is just an amazingly relatable, because everyone faces pressure at some point and feel like not being enough, while trying their best. I heard that Disney made much more dolls about Isabela, thinking girls will want to buy the classicly princess looking character, while in reality Luisa was way more popular and they haven't made enough merch of her.
I utterly adore watching you two react and analyze because you're both so positive. I found you through Peter Barber's Epic reactions, and I've had an absolute blast with your channels.
Let us know what you think of this format! 👇
Part 2 comes out THIS MONDAY - ruclips.net/video/x1EDXbfSpYU/видео.html
Sunday/ Tuesday, Saturday/ Monday. Practically the same days.
Casper: "One person can't change the trajectory of the family, but toucan." One of my favorite moments.
Top tier dad joke
I literally had to live a room to laugh😂, bc y mom was there
"what if, after that whole speech, she doesn't get one?". The first natural 20 of Encanto
Fun fact about Surface Pressure: Lin describes it as a love letter and apology to his older sister because he saw the extra pressure and responsibilities that were put on her as the oldest child that he didn’t experience as the younger sibling.
Another fun fact: Surface Pressure is a better song than We Don’t Talk About Bruno. Hot take, I know, but them’s the facts
@@allisonbergh4429that’s not a fact. It’s an opinion. I respect it, though, cause I love the song just as much. 😂😊
The first time I heard it, I cried then sent my big sister $50 in the middle of the night. I was shielded from so much thanks to her
@@wjquick32 I bet she was confused about the money, and felt grateful after you explained. That’s what I hope how it went. 🥹
Curious if we're ever gonna get Casper showing mortius something instead of the usual mortius showing casper
I would love this! There seems to be less that mortius hasn't seen, but I feel like Casper's often deeper musical analysis could work really well to suppliment Mortius's slightly more story based and emotional first time reaction to something! (I would also love to see what Casper's obsessions are and experience them with mortius)
10K likes and I'll show Mortius Pokémon -C
POKEMON YOO @@OpenArmsReactions
Maybe Casper can show him Heathers
@@OpenArmsReactions on what?
"You think Hercules was ever like 'yo I don't wanna fight Cerberus'" is the most Lin-Manuel line and delivery. I know people say they can hear Lin in Bruno most but for me, it's No Pressure.
I hear all Lin in “what else can I do”, when Mirabel says “what ELSE what ELSE” 🤣
"Under the surface, I hide my nerves and it worsens, I worry something is gonna hurt us/Under the surface, the ship doesn't swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is--"
Yeah, Surface Pressure is very strongly Lin to me
"wait on a miracle" screms Lin to me from start to finish
Fun fact: The kind of end round singing at the end of We Don't Talk About Bruno is actually called a madrigal. Hence why they all have a singing part.
Funfact time! Camillo's (shapeshifter) VA said that it was the first time he sang in a movie and was VERY stressed about it.
Camilo’s vocals are AMAZING in We Don’t Talk About Bruno…!
@@StoryMing when he has the high harmony at the end
Dude, I feel like mortious has a really obvious tell to his poker face
He ALWAYS puts fingers on his mouth each time
I haven't noticed it until now but but now that I think back on it it's a really obvious sign lol
If I remember correctly, he somehow managed to avoid it for THE ALL-TIME BIGGEST nat-20 prediction in Hamilton.
Love how Caspar just _immediatly_ clocks Bruno's actual situation.
Casper: Constantly predicting what happens next in videos
My Brain: WE DON"T TALK ABOUT CASPER! NO NO NO! 😂😂😂
As a disabled person living in a world that caters to able-bodied people, some of the things said to Mirabel hit deep for me!
I love Rosa Diaz
We do too buddy, we do too
Could you also show casper Coraline please 🥺🙏🏻
Coraline?! Why? No need for that trauma!

That peep noise that Dolores (the one that can hear really well) is tied back to a “secret” language that Columbians (the movie is set in Columbia) would use to communicate with the Spanish Conquistadors invaded!
ColOmbia!!!
@@Lila.Army1306 yes, thank you! My uncle and my cousins would scold me lol. I was tired when I wrote the comment!
Yeah and like, accordions are usually depicted in like, mariachi bands. Not quite South America but lots of similar elements
Agree! I was also thinking of Argentine Tango music which absolutely has accordions. 💃
I don't listen to a lot of Latin-American music so this is news to me! That's dope, thanks for letting us know! :) -C
It's one of the main instruments for Tango in Argentina! We actually use a "bandoneón" which is a type of accordion. @@OpenArmsReactions
This is not related to anything, but y’all are SLAYING those flowery shirts!
Yes! Finally the love and recognition Surface Pressure deserves! It's my favorite too! The lines that hit me the most are:
"I think I might be worthless if I can't be of service" that feeling of doing selfless acts, and feeling like there's no you outside of that, or rather you're nothing without your deeds really hits hard.
And I hope everyone who reads this has a lovely day
7:08 hey Casper, can ya give the lotto numbers?
AHHHH THE THING WITH MIRABEL STAYING BACK 21:16
Literally every time I watch this movie I point it out and I have NEVER seen or heard anyone else talk about it. I always talk about it because I understand how that feels and it’s AUUGHH 🤩 I’m so glad you mentioned it

@@soniakernel754 oop thank you
i believe that bruno's prophecies, except for isabella and dolores, are all misinterpretations of what bruno says. For example:
- the woman whose fish dies: pets eventually die.
- the gut man: if he ate too much, he was going to grow a gut
- the bald man: most men end up bald.
it's not really rocket science
But with Peppa and Felix's wedding there is something more complicated:
I am not Colombian, but I am from Ecuador (neighboring country) and I have heard that when it rains in events like quinceañeras or weddings, it means luck, but also saying that it is going to rain is a way of saying that a couple is not going to last.
Y'all should do Prince of Egypt sometime! The songs are legendary
I think this format works! I like not having to wait a whole week for second half
Hey.. we're nearing spooky month so.... have you guys seen Beetlejuice the musical? :3
I need to see them experience Alex Brightman fr
I need Alex Brightman reaction on this channel IMMEDIATELY
That would be amazing!
if they do, they HAVE to do a bootleg of the show/stage recording and not animatics, it's important they see the lighting and props and costumes and all the special effects. Plus, all of the acting is REALLY physical, so they would loose a lot from animatics only.
Or the Evil Dead musical
I think prefer when you guys pause when you think/see/hear something interesting, i like when you go on tangents, because bring more of you guys and makes the video different from other reactions
I like this new format! Also, Casper’s analysis skills (literary and musically) will never stop impressing me. He is so smart when he’s being smart. And then he uh. has his other moments 😁🫶
Fun fact, the style of music where multiple lyrics are overlaid like they are in the "we dont talk about bruno" song, is called a 'Madrigal'. :D
Spittin' BARS on Bruno for sure haha thanks for the shoutout my dudes
i speak as an Argentinian and accordions are incredibly common in Latin music especially in mariachi and tango and many others
Pepa makes me feel so seen in so many ways and her and Feliz, are the relationship goals that I want in my life❤
Edit: Also, Camilo, darling, Bruno wasn't really that tall, you were just a short, baby when you last saw him...seven foot tall, seriously?
Happy Birthday to Julieta,Pepa, and Bruno Madrigal Blessings and HUGS! 👑💜
Gotta love the Nat 20 vine boom every time Casper gets something right
A lot of this story is stuff you would absolutely have found in any real family, like sister dynamics and cousins and so forth.
Hmmmm :3c
Looking forward to seeing the latter half of your reaction to this movie!
31:30 Just wanna clarify, Luisa is not the oldest
Yeah, but it IS a song that resonates with older siblings, you can't deny it. Besides, she's talking to Mirabel, her younger sister

You guys seem like you'd really enjoy the Hatchetfield musical saga!

28:17 This one is probably my favorite song in the movie. And the donkeys are hilarious throughout. Also, did you notice that the door that Isabella was struggling to hold up is her own?
34:21 Mirabel is very much the heart of the family. Much like her Abuella.

Casper predictions on point as always 🤣
You were making a face.
"you were able to predict the themes of a children's movie, I'm so proud of you" the SHADE 😆🔥
The cast petformed these songs at The Hollywood Bowl. You can find it on RUclips. They were FANTASTIC.
Wooh generational trauma the musical! Love this movie! Made me cry so much watching it.
12:17 "Calypso"
me who haven't recovered from Love in Paradise yet: Calypso?! Nooo, not this lady again 😭
Perhaps an introduction the the Hatchetfield universe as we approach Halloween?
Even in this family, Louisa is the middle daughter 😏
Every family is different but there's usually someone in that role
"Imagine she gets nothing"
CASPER STOP DOING THIS I SWEAR TO GOD-
I haven't started the video yet, but can I just say that both of you look fucking amazing!
Both of them IMMEDIATELY just vibing as soon as “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” started was such a mood.
Casper is literally so smart, those predictions were literally Bruno level
Mort, just living his best life during "We don't talk about Bruno".. that was fun!
30:00 Dam right Mortius same for me, Surface pressure is the most relatable song for me as well
As the parentified eldest sibling, there was one line in Surface Pressure that hits me in the guts, especially the first time I ever heard it; " I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service...". My entire sense of self-worth was tied to being the 'big helper', the responsible one, the one who is expected to support the whole family and hold everything together. I love my sibs, but it's such a relief as an adult to have some distance and the space to figure out who the f* I am and what -I- want to do with -MY- life separate from what my family demanded of me
I love how every oldest sibling ever immeadiately imprints on Luisa 😂😂😂
Also the delivery of the "good job predicting the themes of a children's movie. I'm so proud of you" was brutal. I laughed so hard I hurt my vocal chords XD
I think Casper is conflating the Caribbean (Central America) with South America. The accordion is very common in such genres as tango, for example
I thought so too, especially when he brought up Calypso music.
Crazy amazing thing: Stephanie Beatriz was actually in LABOUR when she sang "Waiting on a Miracle."
My favourite part of "We don't talk about Bruno" is Dolores. It's very much about how she hears the world. Her part is whispered and all these tiny ambient noises are amplified and incorporated in the song. Swishing skirts, steps on the floor.
We dont talks about bruno no no no we dont talk about BRUNOOOOO but it was my wedding day we were getting married and there wasnt a cloud in the skyyyyyy

YES!!!!
That's an american adaptation of the brazilian show with the same name!
Just so you know Luise is the middle child 31:35 😅😅😅
accordions are one of colombian music intruments bases, yes, they were not invented here, however they are the base of almost our traditional music, and surface pressure is indeed the least colombian yet, but it does have elements of cumbia - our most recognizeble autochthonous music genre - and reggaeton - a PR genre that is hugely popular here in Colombia and we are currently like the second or third country that produces the msot reggaeton music and artist, Karol G/Maluma/Jbalvin being the main ones globally.
Casper’s predictions are gold! One of the best parts of these reactions!
Waiting on a miracle is the most song i relate to it brings me to tears every time
I'm the 4th of 5 siblings, with an unofficial adopted sister who we took in.
You were 22, they were in middle school!" She sees the eldest as Pepa for being "an emotional wreck." (Yikes!)
THAT beeatch of a sister sees herself as Luisa instead, the strong one with all the weight on her shoulders.
The family stopped caring about her hyper conservative opinions years ago.)
The baby of the family was one we all agreed upon right away.
Screw people who feel that way.)
Instead, she cited a moment in my childhood.
My theory for Mirabel "gift" she is meant to replace abuela 😢
Why the sad emoji? That's very cute!
@@yay29823 it's because she probably gonna die in a near future (for its a mixture of sadness and happiness)
Some fun facts: one of the instruments at the beginning during La Familia Madrigal is accurate to the area of Columbia that inspired the movie
Also, when Stephanie Beatriz was recording the vocals for Waiting on a Miracle (which I agree is underrated), she was either in labor or within the last few days of her pregnancy, and gave birth shortly after. Just something cool 🤪
I love how you two dress for each to match the vibe of the content you react/analyze ❤
Fun fact: Surface Pressure is how I found Peter Barber, who then mentioned Mortius in an Epic R&A, so this is a neat circle :)
The shock i got seeing CF- happy youve seen this! I cant afford myself to see the uncut version, but i enjoy seeing your song reactions
