    So, x79 lga 2011 supports 3930k right, because my mobo died and need one cheap ASAP.
    Please let me know.

    Btw, do you know if it is ok to overclock by increasing base clock? I have i-7 3770K and P8H77-V LE motherboard which does not support overclocking unfortunately. I could achive some perfomance boost by increasing BCLK up to 106, the system was stable and i used it like that for a month or so, but then i googled a little bit more about bclk and some forums say that increasing BCLK might affect SATA and PCI-E connected device, so turned all the overclocking off. So do you know if it's safe? because the perfomance boost was noticible. Thank you in advance.

      We have not done a lot of overclocking on this platform as of yet, so this could be true. Some clocks on motherboards do set up other dividers for other components like ram and pcie stuff which can control the clocking of those devices.
      We will have to look into it, we may have a z77 based motherboard to test this with somewhere. Unfortunately most of the motherboards we have from this platform are all dell / hp / acer oem boards with very limited options.
      I'm sure somewhere here would have the answer, in the meantime we will see what we can find out.
      Great question.
      Thanks for watching.

    I just happen to be building a system using the I7 3930K and a GTX 970. What motherboard do you recommend? I have the Chinese X79 a gen before the one in this video and am running into bios issues.

      In my opinion, the Chinese motherboards will get the job done but it's not always smooth sailing as you know.
      But you definitely can do much more out of a branded motherboard like Asus, Gigabyte etc.
      And there is a whole lot more potential from the 3930k in overclocking when you marry it with a decent motherboard.
      The i7 3930k is getting to be an old chip these days, but boy it was a monster in the day and I think because of that it's still very relevant in game titles today and a decent motherboard that can do a decent overclock can start closing in on ryzen r5 2600 CPU territory. Not bad for a CPU released in 2011.
      Now if you are looking for a good motherboard for the 3930k it's hard to go past the Asus Rampage Boards, they really are good boards. However, they are the flagship boards for Asus in the day I do believe, and boy they are very expensive second hand these days.
      To be honest I would be keeping an eye out for any quality brand lga 2011 motherboard from 2nd sales like Facebook marketplace, gumtree or craigs list... any ting like that.
      You can try your luck on Aliexpress and eBay, but prices on bigger 2nd hand markets seem to get away price-wise with these types of motherboards.
      Sorry, we could not help any more than that. But if anyone knows a place to find cheap good quality branded LGA 2011 motherboards please let us all know.
      Thanks for watching and supporting us here on the OFFbit.

    Can you test the i5 6600K against the i7 3930K?

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately we don't have a 6600k sitting in our stock at the moment.
      But we do have a 6700k.
      We just need to dig up a mother board for it.
      We can add that to our Todo list if you like.
      Last us know your thoughts and thanks for watching.

    I have e5 2680 was thinking of this CPU should I upgrade it?

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад

      the 3930k has a stronger single core strength due to it's stock base clock. But for compute power the e5-2680 has a lot more threads.
      It really comes down to what you are intending to do with the machine.
      Games are generally better off with higher clock speeds instead of more cores and the 3930k has plenty of cores/threads for games anyway.
      If you are doing 3d cad or content creating more cores & threads would probably be more beneficial.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@OFFbitTech yea true I soon realise my mistake lol I bought this cpu last week and it doesn't perform as I expected rather worse than my current cpu.
      It's my fault as I have chinese motherboard so it can't over clock to it's full potential.
      I need a better mother board to be able to get better performance.

      @@washx2k755 Yep, the 3930K can shine when you overclock it.
      But with a cheap Chinese motherboard you wont see anything to special.
      Thanks for watching.
