- I only animate non verbal strips from now on since everyone has their own version of the characters' voices. This is my all time favorite strip and it was so much fun making my own take on one of Mr. Watterson's best strips. If you love the animated content, there is much more on the way, as well as live videos and possible reaction content! Please like and Subscribe!
Note: Avatar: The Last Airbender content coming in a week!
I like how you chose a strip that didn’t require a voice. I know what Calvin sounds like in my head but I don’t ever want to hear it out loud, that would ruin the magic.
I made that mistake on the first one! Never again 🤣
The literal exact reason why Bill Watterson never had any interest in signing off on an animated Calvin and Hobbes TV show or movie.
i'd be ok with hearing the characters speak, as long as it's done properly. calvin would sound like a bratty 6 year old, hobbes would sound like a goofier, lower frequency version of hank hill, calvin's mom would sound like sally field and his dad would sound like ryan stiles
The Breath of The Wild music really fits.
MY FAVORITE COMIC STRIP OF ALL TIME! Calvin was so creative & abstract. He couldn't add 3+4, but had a limitless imagination.
i feel so nostalgic watching this
There was a hill near our house back when I was a kid, and all of us in the neighborhood would go to "The Big Hill" to sled every chance we got (we lived in snow country with long winters).
During my high school years I didn't go there at all, but one day, when I was 16, I thought I wanted to go sledding again---I'd been very badly injured in a toboggan accident four years earlier, and had lost interest in any sledding, but didn't want to wimp out when a bunch of the 'hood's teens were getting together---so took a plastic saucer to The Big Hill.
I was stunned when we got there to realize that thing was only about 12 feet high, and was actually nothing more than a mound of piled up dirt someone had bulldozed up into a "hill" many years prior. It had always seemed to be at least 100 feet high, and took "forever" to climb back up after a great slide down, so I "got" Calvin's disappointment when he realized how low the hill really was, and how short the trip down was.
I think this is one huge reason Calvin and Hobbes is so popular. One way or another, we can all relate to Calvin somehow. He so brilliantly satirizes our own lives. In my case, if at the start of the strip Watterson had decided to base Calvin's parents on my own, they'd have turned out exactly the same as they did anyway.
Nice touch on the Zelda Breath of The Wild cold theme.
this is my fav cartoon
Perfect. This really captures the spirit of Calvin and Hobbes. Simple, yet deep. Thought provoking, and hilarious. Beautifully done. Was cracking up hard watching Calvin barrel down that mountain at Mach 5. Music was perfect, too. Really set the mood for the whole scene. While the bulk of society praises the equivalent of dumpster juice as the latest greatest thing, something like this goes under the radar. Sad, and pathetic, really. Not a wonder the world is falling apart. If there was any justice in the world, whatsoever. If there was any taste for excellence, and the beautiful simplicity of something as perfect as the innocent wonder of this perfectly captured scene, this video would have 50 billion views and counting. You get high praise from me. The highest. For what it's worth, you nailed it. ChanneyHy has some good renditions of Calvin and Hobbes, as well. Spread the word people. On both counts, this is beautiful stuff.
Thanks so much for your kind words :)
HELL YES, DEFINABSOTIVELY!!!!!
Watching this I became nostalgic because I enjoyed Calvin & Hobbs so much and didn't realize how much I missed them both.
I'm with you.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Calvin and Hobbes made my childhood. I admired it so much and loved it always when I read it. Nothing made more of my imagination in those days than reading the comics
As soon as I heard the BOTW mountain music, I flipped out. It's perfect 👌
I’ve never seen this animation before but it’s a classic already.
the graphics are really good on the video
Came across this great piece of work and I'm amused! Really love it!! Definitely wish to see more.
That’s not too bad of a voice for our young Calvin.
Love the zelda sounds 😍
Absolutely perfect
This is just too cute 😍!
CALVIN AND HOBBES ROCK, CALVIN AND HOBBES RULE, CALVIN AND HOBBES KICK ASS!!!!!
Double nostalgia - breath of the wild and Calvin and Hobbes
i really enjoyed this video
Although we can’t say for sure, it’s been said that Bill Watterson made this one to foreshadow the end of Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin going down that steep hill in his sled could stand as a metaphor for the ongoing battle not to license his comic strip.
I had missed the 30th anniversary of this moment by about a month, and this animation captured the moment perfectly. Bill Watterson shouldn't be anything other than proud of this.
C & H is the best. so funy and i can appreciate it much more now that iam older.
I like the ice caverns Zelda music in the beginning and throughout the strip
