I have, bought that viper 8k recently. The ps5 doesn't support anything above 1k. If you try it will slow the sensitivity down unnaturally and make input lag worse. Extremely high dpi worsens input lag too. 3200 is as far as I'm comfortable setting, any further will be for few benefits and some risk maybe. Yes bro, this has been hot topic on my mind lately. Kudos for the work and definitely looking forward to seeing results for the other controllers to see any differences, especially with the Xbox range. I’m using a razor chroma 2 Xbox on the pc and man those milli seconds mean a lot!
Great video! For the elite series 2, you should try putting the trigger dead zones in the xbox accessories app the lowest it can go. You would probably get better results by doing this.
Wow shocked on the mouse! Great info and thanks for putting that together and sharing! Would like to see different mice just to compare. Also just because I don't think anyone uses controllers wired, it would be great to see numbers for controller on wireless.
I’ve used an overclocked Xbox Series Elite 2 for a few years now and I just bought a PS5 controller after seeing this. I instantly overclocked the PS5 controller when I got home, hoped on MW2, and it feels so much faster. I played for a match and went back to the xbox controller and I could easily tell a huge difference in lag. Thank you for sharing this!!!!
Nice analysis! However, one potential discrepancy: the Elite v2 has both physical trigger stops and software to digitally adjust the trigger input and sensitivity. I'm assuming you did not alter that in order to be consistent with the other controllers, but don't think it's a fair conclusion to say the elite is slower without testing both (in case you didn't), considering likely everyone playing an FPS with the elite will be using one or both configurations to improve input time. Also the stick time is more in line with the PS5 controllers, so reasonable to assume it's not the controller as a whole.
I was thinking the same thing. Has OC for ps5 but didn’t optimize the ES2. I Was surprised by the amount of options it has. Def improved my game a lot.
I'd also like to know about the "same" deadzones. Does this mean the same deadzone settings in the software or controlled for mechanically for the activation to be as soon as possible (as they'd should be used irl)? Having the same settings is pointless. Every controller will vary with it's ideal deadzones and even more so between different brands/models.
I thought of this too. If you don't adjust the XS2 deadzone on the trigger you really have to press the trigger all the way down to get it to work. I also wonder if the XS2 controller performs better on Xbox than PC
Tony, did you use the trigger stops on the Xbox Elite Series 2 , also setting the deadzone for the triggers between 0 and 1 in the Xbox accessories app, basically creating a profile. Would that change the trigger results for the Elite Series 2?
Trigger stops shouldn't matter for this test. They just stop you from pressing more then you need to and is purely mechanical. If you added deadzone to the start of the trigger pull it would (since he is timing from the moment the trigger started moving).
Very cool. Thanks for the info. I'd love to see the Bluetooth results for the PS5 controllers. I wish we could find out the difference between PC and PS5 but I get that it's not in the cards right now. Great job!
Can't you set the delay on Xbox accessories app to help out elite2. Or change where the trigger engages put it on the fastest engage setting. Would have helped no?
Sorry man, but you wasted your time doing these tests when the input lag people are experiencing in WZ2 is entirely engagement / server decided; the input lag changes dynamically when the player gets into gun fights, and how aggressive it kicks in is directly linked to how skilled the player is (ie win streak, avg k/d, spm, etc) Activision has patents for this type of thing. It's absolutely a thing in MW2. They also know it'd be incredibly hard to prove because 90% of it is server side. I'm currently using an aurduino based input lag tester called Syslat - which is similar, if not better than Nvidias LDAT - but I haven't compiled enough engagements (or honestly care to prove it beyond my own sneaking suspicions) to have any conclusive evidence. If you can develop an easy method for testing this type of thing, with all the variables that it entails, then THAT'S the video people would want to see. It'd open the floodgates on all the conspiracies surrounding activisions shady patents..
I havent tested them directly in warzone, but ive got both the eswap x and the eswap s, and out of the box, they are ~4 ms delay so 250hz, and can be overclocked to ~2ms delay / 500hz. Not as good as the 1ms playstation controllers, but much better than other xbox controllers. Also the analog sticks are absolutely amazing, infinitely smoother and more accurate than regular controllers and the elite series 2 i tried, and can have super low (like 0-1%) deadzones. Feels like they do exactly what you tell them to, and going back to the elite series 2 or regular xbox one controller felt like they were utterly unresponsive.
Really cool info man. I’m curious how the Razer Deathadder Pro v3 clocked at 4k polling rate would perform. I feel like I’ve noticed a difference from other also solid mice, but could be placebo
I think the Xbox ES2 controller should have been tested with the hair triggers as well as definitely do a video for wireless on all because most use all wireless. But that hair trigger I’d say should have been a no brainer. Nice work none the less cheers 🍻
I use a glorious mouse, and definitely feel as if there is a noticable difference between the two games. I mostly notice it when making micro adjustments with my fingertips, it feels as if it's not responding to the smallest movements. Big sweeping movements aren't a problem, just small micro adjustments
You can OC the Xbox one controller also on PC. I would like to see a video breaking down the suppressor since there's so many and there's so many different options on them even though some of them are just to go toos it seems.
Sorry if I missed it but your Mouse numbers are for the button click only, right? So while you have the keyboard latency for character movement, the missing component is the mouse movement action used in aiming.
I would love to see an aim assist comparison from PC to Console, I have a few great ideas for test that are not biased at all. I am genuinely interested in this and not trying to stir anything up. Hope you consider. Thanks! ps i play on both
tbh I'd like to see render latency testing in different parts of the maps. That seems to be a much more influential part of the input lag problem. I was playing shipment a few days ago and DLSS got removed again so I had to use NIS and the latency kept jumping between like 30-80ms, throwing off all my aim since it kept lagging and then going back to normal.
Were you using the same dead zones for the triggers across every controller? Warzone 2 has trigger deadzones that can be set as low as possible just like the thumbsticks do. Combine this with the xbox accessories app for the elite series 2 that lets you also adjust this, would this change the results and make the ES2 not actually be as bad as it seems? Especially since the default dead zones on the triggers in-game are set to 0.13
Awesome. Would love to see wireless tests. If you do wireless test, make sure to get a proper bluetooth dongle with 5.3 support, though I belive the PS5 controller only supports up to 5.0.
Yes! I'm on a Series 2 controller. When I switch from shield to knife. Half of the time there's I swear a 2 second delay before it actually switches. I haven't noticed any trigger delays, I don't think.
Definitely interested in other mice! Very curious if the delay is related to Windows, drivers, manufacturer suite, etc. My super light feels great, but if it can be optimized that’s good intel.
I’m interest in a wired vs wireless test for Ps4 controller on a PS5. Reason is that sony has a $25 back button attachment for the PS4 Controller that is more responsive and well-built than any Battle Beaver or Scuff controller I’ve tested. I download the PS4 version of MW2 from the PS store. FYI, Battle Beaver sells USB cables that hold better in the slot and they say are faster due to a thicker gauge in the copper wire inside. I use those. I appreciate the testing!
I'd be interested in seeing the 8Bit Do Pro 2, SN30Pro+ and that new Xbox style one. If you use HIDUSB I think you can improve the polling rate to reduce lag too.
I absolutely love the detail that you go to with your videos but I can't help but feel like there are some weapon videos that are well overdue So many of your videos decided which guns are used over the past 18 months and outside of your one video on weapons the other week. I feel like we're really missing out here
Was there a reason why you didn't over clock the Xbox controllers? I overclock all my controllers and use the elite 2 controller and ps5 controller depending on which game. For call of duty games I prefer The elite 2 controllers because I use the paddles as my triggers. They are 4.3x's faster than the triggers with my testing since they are instant response with zero lag.
Try turning on weapon motion blur. It seems to cause stuttering when intially jumping out of the plane at the start of every match with amd gpu's. For some odd reason turning it on fixes this issue.
I can confirm this also. I have a pretty high end PC with an AMD card and could up my graphics settings after turning on weapon motion blur to stop the plane lag/stuttering. Hope they patch this soon.
The test itself was solid but my problem with the Xbox controllers is you say you used a micro usb Xbox controller so it has to be last gen, New ones use type c. Also the ES2 doesn’t seem optimized at all. The ps5 might still be king after the changes but it seems a little biased or more accurate for the PlayStation side rather than Xbox side. Great work none the less. Was genuinely surprised by the amount of features my s2 controller has. Wish it was just a bit better on build quality.
It’s not biased it’s just how it is. Xb controllers have always had more lag due to their low polling rate (think it’s only 100) whereas PS have a much higher one (DS4 is 1k and DS5 I believe is up to 8k) and that’s without overclocking! This is why pros have always used PS controllers.
@@the_full_english I don’t doubt it. Just wanted the test to prove that with the a updated standard and a optimized ES2 controller. Especially since I have both. Personally the triggers (ES2) don’t feel like they align with his video. But then again my are optimized and it’s a personal opinion.
Good idea with test. But You must extend it for Xbox series and ps5 (wired pad, wireless and mouse with keyboard). This will be the greatest test in WZ2. There are lot of words that they are input lag on consoles, but other side are lot comments there aren’t. :D Maybe someone can borrow you this console’s:D
It's an interesting video, but you only showed how you tested the controllers, not the mouse. In addition to that, in the final spreadsheet, there's only one input lag column for the g pro, so it would be nice to know how you obtained those values. Did you click the mouse or did you move it on a mousepad?
Hey Tony @TrueGameData, I have the Scuf reflexFPS with the mouse click triggers and came to the same conclusion as you. Did you also use DS4? I find together with hidusbf it gives lower input lag as for some reason when I overclock my scuf to 1000hz it only goes to 4binterval in hidusbf and not the 1binterval it's supposed to. The default is 6 on the scuf for me. I also found that using the ReflexFPS as virtual Xbox controller with DS4 has even lower input lag than using it as PS5 I can feel it in the movement. I set the profile to use blue RBG and sometimes when starting the game it changes to white as I launch WZ2. Sometimes selecting WZ2 app as it starts helps it stay blue and guarantee the best input lag. Using as PS5 is kicks to white much more often. It's frustrating having to restart warzone again and again sometimes as I feel it works the best when the profile is hooked right and the controller RBG is blue as it's supposed to be and is before starting WZ2. I found someone online said the hidusbf is bugged with the Scuf reflexFPS. It has a 8000hz option which might be what is supposed to be 1000hz but it might be reading the chip or scaler wrong. Doing 8000hz causes other issues but "can" work when used as xbox in with DS4 in wz2 but as PS5 can be worse and I believe without DS4 no good too. Using 1000hz shows you the bluetooth latency in the DS4 app even though I don't use bluetooth as I use cable it shows the 0.5ms latency but at 8000hz it doesn't show any stats in DS4. In hidusbf using 8000hz does bring the binterval down to "1" but like I said causes other issues. I remember it made it worse on WZ1 though not sure if I also tried it as Virtual xbox 360 on WZ1. This is all so complex and I've done my head in for so many hours trying to get the input down on the Scuf Reflex as low as I can consistently testing again and again. For now I'm using 1000hz in hidsubf and as a virtual Xbox 360 in DS4, I find it gives the best input lag when the controller is blue. I hope you see this I am curious what other pro or competitive players use their Scuf reflexFPS. In WZ2 I actually like using M&KB again as I can get faster movement weirdly with my Logitech superlight G pro as I cant move as fast as in WZ1 with my controller. KB&M felt the same when I said this I took some flack as everyone was saying saying that KB&M is worse now which isn't the case IMHO, controller to a hit in movement in WZ2 as apposed to KB&M.
On a Different note , Why would they do this to the Mouse and Key players .. Add Smoke and Shaky Visual Recoil so u cant see what youre shooting at But Give Controllers Strong ass Aim assist ! (They dont have to see it aims for you)
Great video, if you do continue to test other mice then please include one from Razer Viper family as I myself have a Razer Viper (a wired mouse but wireless Pro models would be great to see too). I think it's quite popular among people looking for the lowest input lag.

Combine this with the xbox accessories app for the elite series 2 that lets you also adjust this, would this change the results and make the ES2 not actually be as bad as it seems?
Especially since the default dead zones on the triggers in-game are set to 0.13
And the stick tension setting on the ES2 will matter.
Tony, can you reach out to the devs to raise the mouse input delay issue and see if they are even aware?
Awesome. Would love to see wireless tests. If you do wireless test, make sure to get a proper bluetooth dongle with 5.3 support, though I belive the PS5 controller only supports up to 5.0.
Hey Tony is there a video from you on overclocking a controller or where we should look? thank you
Great work as always. I saw on twitter you alluded to there being some difference related to having vibration turned on/off on a Dualsense?
Whonwould ever want to play with vibration lol
Yes I forgot to mention it in this video. I will do more follow ups and explain that. But definitely off is best
Def do the wireless test 🙌
Yes! I'm on a Series 2 controller. When I switch from shield to knife. Half of the time there's I swear a 2 second delay before it actually switches. I haven't noticed any trigger delays, I don't think.
4:10 Bluetooth? Doesn't the Xbox elite controller have a dedicated wireless transmission USB adapter?
I absolutely love the detail that you go to with your videos but I can't help but feel like there are some weapon videos that are well overdue
So many of your videos decided which guns are used over the past 18 months and outside of your one video on weapons the other week. I feel like we're really missing out here
Thanks bro!
This seems so arbitrary. How on earth did this happen, if true.
I wonder if Nvidia cards are at all affected in some way, too.
I love your content,thank you
Definitely want to see the mouse comparison. The wireless isn't needed for me.
Good idea with test. But You must extend it for Xbox series and ps5 (wired pad, wireless and mouse with keyboard). This will be the greatest test in WZ2. There are lot of words that they are input lag on consoles, but other side are lot comments there aren’t. :D
Maybe someone can borrow you this console’s:D
@truegamedata is it Your account in this comment?
It's an interesting video, but you only showed how you tested the controllers, not the mouse. In addition to that, in the final spreadsheet, there's only one input lag column for the g pro, so it would be nice to know how you obtained those values. Did you click the mouse or did you move it on a mousepad?
I can’t use killstreaks in mw2 bc when I use them it puts a huge input delay for the rest of the match
I’m curious where you had the trigger stops at for the Elite 2?
