Thank you guys for all the comments on my college decision reaction video. They were incredibly sweet and made me feel very uwu.
I realized that I never explained the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship, so here we go. It's a merit-based scholarship for full tuition + research stipend, and to apply there's a required 500 word scholarship essay where they ask what made you want to major in your selected major.
I have no way to know what actually got me in, and whatever got me in is not the only way to go. Go with your gut and chase the things you enjoy.
One more thing, none of this was done strictly on my own. I've been incredibly privileged and lucky to have parents, teachers, and friends who've supported me (if y'all r watching, ehhe thank u ilysm).

As rising senior looking at this, I’m now wishing that I went out and looked at more extra curriculars just to venture out and see what I liked (seeing as my test scores are poor/low). Thanks for the college prep content stuffs! I just found your channel but definitely subbing for more-it oddly stresses but motivates me to keep going and see where I go for college.

IDK how you were denied from Stanford. From all the videos I've seen of people who were accepted, you are very comparable.

Her ECs were a little run-of-the-mill; not very unique.
People who have this mindset are the people who don't get accepted. They think great stats = Ivy League when it really comes down to compatibility lmao
maybe it was her essays that they didn't enjoy. plus a person is the one who decides if she gets in or not so maybe they weren't having the best day lol
She’s a high achieving Asian and it’s just hard for Asians to get into the top colleges even with the best stats.

Brings back so many memories, both joyous and heartbreaking. I remember the tears of joy after getting into UCLA and BC and the tears of sadness after getting waitlisted by my dream school UNC. You’ll do amazing wherever you go, those are incredible stats! And if you go with a science major, try not to overload yourself any one semester (I was a biological sciences major and made that mistake!)

Kelly Nguyen beautiful school (I visited summer of my junior year), I love basketball and baseball, I grew up on a farm in NJ (so I kinda fit the Southern stereotype), and it’s impossible to get in from out of state (only girl from my school that got in had a 2370)

procras tinacion hi!! Hahaa I love your username. I did the automated vehicles symposium in the summer. If you’re shooting for camps/internships, I would recommend setting aside time to ask around/google and see what’s available in your area that you enjoy. A lot of them require letters of rec and applications, so it’s good to get a head start on those + ask your teachers for rec letters early. But things like practicing instruments/ having fun with friends/ getting a job/ volunteering are great too. You don’t have to do anything huge as long as you’re being productive and working on things you like :)

Does not taking all those AP history classes (macro and micro included) hinder applications? I’ll have taken/ be taking every class (math classes included) you have taken except the AP history classes and AP physics II by the time I submit college apps
I hope you're able to answer this! How did you take Pre-Calculus online and where? I want to be in AP Calculus AB next year for my Senior year, however, my school failed to inform me that I needed to have taken Pre-Calculus as a prerequisite. Now, I am stuck with finding where I can take an accredited Pre-Calculus class over the summer. If that information is private, it is okay! Congratulations on your full scholarship though! Your dedication to your academics is amazing!!!

I didn't catch what major you were in, but if you have a choice, Electrical Engineering here is fantastic. I'm a PhD student in EE/CE at Vanderbilt and the professors are absolutely incredible.
Also high school is harder than college, and college is harder than graduate school. Just letting you know in advance ;)
I hear that a lot, that taking 5-6 APs in HS is actually a lot more work than freshmen/sophomore years in college, is that really true?

I've only done ap musictheory and ap physics onramps, and I didnt take the test for music theory and the ap test for onramps wont contribute anything. Rip

Could someone help me out please? I had a D grade in GCSE Math. I sat for my my O level (GCSE) in grade 10 and A Levels (IAL) in grade 11 and 12.
In my O levels I had seven subjects, consisting of 3As, 1B, a C in English Language B (which consists of Creative, Directive Writing and Comprehension) and D in Mathematics.
My subjects were Commerce, Business Studies, English, Accounting, Econ, Math and Bengali
In A levels, I had Accounting, Business and Law and I got As in all three.
I also have a pretty solid ‘businessy’ activities list with good leadership positions, internship and volunteering, all included.
How much will my US college decisions be affected by the D grade in maths back in o levels?
Will a good SAT score help make up for it?
I am applying for Business majors in 4 UCs, and 19 other universities.

its_n there’s a lot of different factors for college admissions. just bc I didn’t get in doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance! plz don’t put urself down + also the college u end up going to isn’t a measure of your worth 🙂. good luck when applying to college!

Hi does anyone think these are impressive ECs? Context: I'm passionate about Russian history and am majoring in Russian language for my undergrad.
1. President/founder of Russian history club at my library (10th-12th)
2. Oral history internship
3. Internship with historical society
4. Learning Russian: 2 years worth of college Russian courses, a free intensive summer program, and self teaching
5. Volunteered and tutored Ukrainian young people in English (10th to 12th)
6. Independent history research: published 2 articles in an academic journal for high schoolers
7. President of Writers Club (10th to 12th)
8. President of Slavic Cultures club (11th to 12th)
9. Volunteered with a Russian history museum (10th to 12th)
10. President of social studies NHS chapter (11th to 12th)

Okay so I have a 3.8 unweighted gpa, which is super bad and probably not enough to get into college, and I have a 4.15 weighted gpa, keep in mind honors and dual enrollment classes aren't weighted, is this still a high enough gpa to get into Vanderbilt? Keep in mind, each year I've gotten at least one B. For my activites, I wrote five books, wrote children's stories that have been publisehd and put in my local library along with my books. I changed legislation, laucnehd my own campagin, created my own virtual AI Chatbot, wrote two research papers, and aditionally am part of two national boards. However, I don't think I'm smart enough to apply to schools liek Vanderbilt, where the acceptace rate for ED 1 is 25%. Should I still apply or would it be a waste of my time?
Your so smart and hard working. Definitely try before you have regrets. If you get in amazing, if you don’t, that’s okay you worked so hard so you will get into amazing schools
