- Replacing the bearings is not as hard as you think on most full suspension bikes, I show you how and what tools you need to do it successfully.

My mate had an ancient old Specialized Pitch which badly needed overhauling after spending many years in the shed. It had those back to back bearings in the rear with the separating lip in between them. I used the blind bearing puller, but they were so tight it simply ripped out the centre of the bearing leaving the outer race seized in the frame. I had a nightmare getting those out let me tell you. It turned into one of those jobs you wish you'd never started.
Another brilliant piece of work
Cheers Gary
Enjoy your vids, particularly the e bike ones as we recently bought two. Thanks for your Christmas wishes. Best Christmas wishes to you and a happy and healthy 2024.🇦🇺
Thank you, you too
Fantastic, detailed video. I did this myself last week on my bike. On my canyon spectral the back to backs had a very slight lip between so I had to pull one out, I could then push the other. I bought an extraction and insertion tool from RRP because kinetic didn't have one in the right size.
Hi, Thank you for watching and your comments
Also really glad I watched this. I thought drifts were not good to use. Think I can do mine now. Cheers
Thanks for watching and your comments
Nice to have all of those tools 😉 Great tutorial once again 👍
I can do my whole Trek with some ready rod + nuts, washers, a pipe nipple and some sockets
Ironically, I do own a blind bearing puller... 🤦♀
Hi, Thank you for watching and your comments
Can you link all tools taht are needed and also the correct bearing set for this bike model? great helpful video at all. bearings seem to be out of stock in the most shops. greetings from Germany ✌️
Nice! Really helpful...
Glad to hear that!
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Great video! Can you recommend any good stores in the UK that sell these tools? Any names/models/part nos for the tools themselves?
Oh, also - any decent bearing suppliers? Having difficulty getting spares from CRC/Nukeproof atm.
Hi, Thanks for watching and your comments, try kinetic bearings
I need to do this to my reactor 2022. where do I find this drift tool you use at 15mins to hammer that one out? All new to me and slightly confused to what tools I need. Found a press kit for the 3 type of bearings I need on this bike to reinstall them so that should be fine, Seen a bearing puller for sale but no mention to use it with this slide hammer. Couldnt link the site where I can purchase this puller from could you? Thanks for great video
Hi, thanks for watching and your comments, We found a set of those used on ebay, we were lucky they are really good and we use them a lot.
Hi. Really helpful and informative video.
Just wondering what's the name of the tool used at 24mins to remove and install the swing link bearings? and any suggestions where best to buy?
Cheers

I ride 2004 scott nitrous converted to electric. Single pivot. Never changed them. Will give them good check but think they still OK.

Yellow Velo Gang🤘
Eh up , I have this bike and swinging arm bearings loose already after 14 months !!!!, is that how long they should last ?
Hi, thanks for watching and your comments.depend on riding conditions, if you ride your bike often them the main pivot every 6 months
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic 6 months that’s ridiculous on such an expensive bike , i have an Orange Patriot that I have only had to change the swinging arm bearings once in 18 years , should have bought another Orange 😎
Why this bike is dirty? 😮
Hi, thanks for your comment, thats clean compared to some
Why would you need cable to split a quick link? Just push them together, the whole point is that you dont need a tool to split them
Hi, thanks for watching, yes that would be great but in reality very few are splittable by hand
That bike must have been abused if the pivot bearings only .lasted a year, that or Nukeproof put in rubbish bearings from new.
Thats not good
headset bearings lasted a mere few weeks in my Vitus
Thanks for watching and your comments
Bad quality bearings or wrong grade is common . I am very picky about bearing suppliers . A let down for Nukeproof and Canyon , sadly . Canyon's reputation is below that of Giant , in my opinion .
