      I moved into my place Nov 2020. Took your advice and had the big things in first (bed, sofa, kitchen table). It's now April 2021 and I've been slowly accessorizing and decorating. As a minimalist, I want to do this with intention. What moves me? What do I connect with? Will this make me happy every time I see it? So far, these questions have been helping me build a studio apt that I really enjoy being in.

I've been STUDYING your videos since I found your channel, and already applied so many tips to my space (I don't know if it's a "studio" since there's a wall separating the kitchen/bathroom from the "living quarters" lol) but anyways, I've already seen HUGE changes that I've been struggling with since I moved in 2 years ago. I really can't say thank you enough, I'm probably repeating my comments here and on IG at this point! I really do appreciate all the work you've put into Moda Misfit. I'm slowly looking around and finding less anxieties stacked on the shelves and clutter hiding in my closet, and more inspiration unfolding in a new grey duvet cover that just transformed my entire room! Always looking forward to your next video, Steffi! xoxo

    I read your blog about the first three pieces (bed, couch, table-desk) and how they should form a triangle. I had a sofa-bed and a table which were beside each other along the outer wall. I moved the table into the kitchen area and it worked soooo much better as a living space. The table serves as a desk-workspace where I work from home (teach online) and go to school online. Thanks for the tips.

      And instead of painting the walls, I have used a lot of Eastern Buddhist-ish themed wall hangings, hanging them from a curtain rod on the wall (near the ceiling). I have used them as curtains, room dividers and wall decorations as well as using one to hide a door that connects my space to the rest of the house vis-a-vis the house’s master bedroom. It is a very ugly door that I hope to replace one day but for now, the wall hanging is a massive improvement.

      I lived in a studio for ten years and it creates a kind of discipline for decorating. You reach a point where you can’t add anything new without taking something else out. So you have to look at the new purchase and think “Do I love this enough to get rid of (the bookcase/ tv stand/ mirror) I already have?”. And the answer is often “no”.

    • @kaylaluxo
      @kaylaluxo 3 года назад

      @@elizabethfleming8818 Honestly, I can see myself staying here for a long time too. I’m sure it’s going to get like that for me because I love interior design and I’m a huge book lover, so a bookcase is a must for me, but I’m all by myself. My design will be all my own and I’m happy to have it this way so we shall see how this goes! ☺️

    • @elizabethfleming8818
      @elizabethfleming8818 3 года назад +1

      @@kaylaluxo Even your book buying may get more selective as your bookshelf fills up. Kindle is great when that happens. Then you can "whip out" a book from your phone while you stand in line :) It may also be helpful for you to go through your books every six months or so to see if you still need to keep all of them. I don't keep fiction because once I'm done, I don't refer back to it. If not, you can donate them to a secondhand store. Also consider your local public library. It's not just for kids anymore - they let adults use it too!

Of course, it depends your specific space and how it's configured, but since your studio and mine are about the same size, you might be pleasantly surprised on what you can do with the space!
      And my sofa is 85" wide, 39" deep. It's a full sized sofa, and I had initially thought I'd have to go with a love seat due to the smallness of my studio! 😊

    And you actually live there, or it is just a studio decorated for making videos and taking photos to flood the Instagram with? In other words, you consumed lot of time, energy and money to obtain something you will get bored about in a couple of years. Or, perhaps this is your hobby.

      I’ve been living here in this studio for almost 5 years. Yep, believe it or not, it’s fundamental purpose is for shelter, not just to “flood the Instagram” with. 😂✌️
