Are you kidding me?!? That is amazing work! I love how the metal bits came out! Really, really cool! Just so cool what some talented people can make from 'junk.' 👍🏻
I'm as a metallurgist usually quite critical about such a RUclips knife making but this time definitely thumbs up. Solid work and very nice knife design. This guy knows what is he doing.
@@BeMoreGooderPeople Dude it is just cutting tool, there is no need to make atomic precise. I was critical before too for knife making, also quite obsessed with steel specification but I realize that is just a tool, no need to use perfect or super duper material. Because anybody use them for a life time except you are a butcher.
@@BeMoreGooderPeople unstable and worst wood would be pine, even in that instance it would still fit in the context of the video, "making a nice knife from trash materials". the point of the video was using whatever he had lying around. heirloom quality knives from years past didn't have cruwear, magnacut, or k390, etc, they had blister steel then crucible/ cast steel. although the crucible/ cast steel process further refined the blister steel process, the carbon content of those blades varied greatly as the steel wasn't able to be totally homogenized on a chemical level like it is today. the steel used in the video is far better than anything they had back in those days, it is more than adequate, and the point is to show the barrier to entry in knife making isn't high. people like you will comment things like this, but i GUARANTEE you have never made a knife. keep on hating from your basement guy.
It's always refreshing to see someone create a nice knife without using fancy equipment that costs thousands upon thousands of dollars. Also, that design is what I would consider optimal for an all-around knife. Well done!
For being a completely upcycled project, or even for not, it's beautiful. It's not overly lavish, or bougie, but it's pretty and also useful. So many pretty knives arent functional as well so, well done.
I couldn't agree more. I roll my eyes every time I see some knife that has very limited functionality. I prefer to be able to use it, not just show it off.
a traditional hamon is intentionally done with clay to keep the spine soft and the edge of the blade hard, makes for a tougher blade and results in a similar color variance. the variance in color in the video is from the 2 different types of steel used for the edge and the body of the knife. does look like a hamon though so i get the confusion lol
Я бы себе в коллекции такой нож не отказался иметь. Лучшее видео что я видел. Мастер просто супер!!! Сделал прям от души, я смотрел не отрываясь от экрана. Великолепная работа! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Excellent work. That's a knife to be proud of, the attention to detail, without going ridiculous. That's a knife you can use, for many many years. Well done.
The knife is magnificent but I also wanted to compliment your editing skills. I was glued to the screen for all 20 minutes. You do a great sense of pacing, when to insert humor, when to annotate with text. I’m guessing you spent as much time on the video as you did on the knife-and both are masterpieces.
Very nicely done. You do a great job freehand grinding the bevels and sharpening on the stone too. End result was beautiful, give yourself more credit!
Hey man, I've been a hobby maker for about a decade now. A lot of these youtube videos are straight clickbait, but this was the real deal. It got me excited to go out into my shop and finish a few knives, maybe try a few new things. I loved the way you did the handle, and the engraving was really neat (including that homemade hammer from a bolt---pretty spiffy).
Beautiful work, and a sweet design. You certainly have an impressive array of skills at your disposal. It’s nice to see someone still doing hand engraving, in an era when it seems as though nearly everything has been computerized. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Incredible. All from scrap and reasonable tools in a shop. Just amazing. I would make (I would buy a no-frills model) . No carving no engraving no stippling no ferric chloride on the handle no fancy butt plug. Forged polished steels and oak with tung oil wax either both. The reverse Hamon show the perfect blend of soft hard steel. Nice work all around. I buy super simple very sharp knives and I USE THEM ALL HARD
Pure craftsmanship. I tip my hat to you Sir. No sharpening jigs, just metal removal, perhaps idve like less gring off of too much excess steel or Brass or wood...I hate clogging the wheel. Your rudimentary work holding jigs are a testimony to you mind skills. My former employer wanted a mini sand blasting handpiece I made during my lunch hour. Stood over me as I was packing my tools. As I finished he yelped out WHERE is the handpiece !!!. OH yeah!!...grabbed a hammer I made, like yours.. then a prototype that didn't work. Threw it in the air ...he watched it land, then screamed as I smashed it flat with my hammer. Guess what...I made that hammer too. ! I'd already removed the micro handpiece. Fitted inside a Tabacco rectangular tin. Filing the brass spacer was a genius move. Engraving also a personalised thing to offer. Consider making a memory stick for anyone buying a knife from you. Consider the next handle to be Silver wire inlaid...or hand checkered ...or a brass inlay plate with Wild Buck Engraving ...or a brass spine with filings your spacer. That's my need. Can't swing a hammer...arthritis in hand and thumb too bad. What was the harder steel in the middle of the outside soft plates? Held together with tack welds then ground off? Nice spoonfuls of Borax. Overall a very sweet display of backyard builds with what's at hand. Stippled are a pain...maybe Consider balled ends of brass wire.. Onya Mate.! From Down Under Australia
I keep coming back to this videos because the knife turned out so simple and beautiful, i would consider this a crowning achievement if i had made it sir
Very nice blade! I like the attention to detail with the engraving and the neat idea of plugging the pommel. Overall a knife that anyone could be proud to own.
Every action and decision is very well thought out. I love the way you use scrap metal for every project. You're the guy I want to be my neighbor if we ever have an apocalypse and restart mankind again 😂
You just gave me the push I've been needing. The way you work is similar to how I work (except you do it so much better than I could). I hope you don't mind if I take some cues from you, the tools you used and the way you set yourself up for each section is so methodical and clean. Love your work
Beautiful metal work on the blade. The finishing touches are out of this world, congrats. Keep the good work amigo, you are good. Greetings from Toronto.
Man, that Anvil of yours looks brilliant, it seems bigger than most you see, great video by the way, keep up the good work, I'll keep watching and recommending you.
Hello little friend , thank you for the offer , but we live very far away from each other. Make a hammer for you or for someone near you. Stay safe and keep working :)
Great video as always! I really enjoyed watching the whole process. I am amazed how many steps and different skill and tools are involved in making a knife. Also kudos for always coming up with new and interesting designs as well as trying out new techniques!
Thanks my friend , when I started editing I had to put 250 small clips together so yes there are many steps even for such a simple item as the knife :)

Other than pourous steel, unstable & worst wood to use and off center edge geometry, sure it looks good. 😂😂😂😂

There’s nothing at all wrong with this lovely knife. Worst handle material? That would be duct tape. Which is probly what that troll would use.

Hey you do awesome work!
Here’s a pro tip. When sanding the handles, put duct tape on the back of the sandpaper. That’ll keep it from tearing.
thanks for the idea, I will try it
I love the ''hamon'' on the blade, gives it a distinct vibe.
Props to you for making something out of nothing!!!

Your decorative touches (both wood and metal) really set this product apart.
Beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing the build with us.
Шикарна работа
Лучшая что я видел
Видно что мастер кайфует от работы
Nothing quite as fulfilling as giving something old a new life. Your work is incredible, i really enjoy it everytime one of your videos pops up
Thank you mate , I'm glad you enjoy it. It was always more dun for me to use old junk as materials :)

Отличная работа! Нож красивый и по форме и по стилю.

Its simply beautiful, an artwork of a knife
Absolutely stunning work. I'm gonna have to try to carve the brass. Never done it but looks fun. I could watch this all day
Beautiful knife design! Love the Sanmai blade when etched being able to see the lamination line 👌🏻
Well done brother!!
Beautiful work, especially with the humble resources you have!!

I really like how the handle turned out, I bet it feels nice in the hand 👍
thank you. It has a nice and secure grip indeed.

Very cool seeing how you approach everything. I like to make simple audio electronics and the metal/wood working stuff is very inspiring.

haha thank you , I make knives from brand new stock materials too , but using old junk was always more fun to me :)
Excellent work you have found art where there was none only a true artist can do so. Subbed.
Trash to heirloom. Absolute perfection sir.
Really nice design on the blade! I also like the fact that it was done with old scrap materials!
thank you , scrap materials have their limitation but it's always fun and satisfying to turn them into something new :)
The most beautiful knife I have ever seen.
Nicely done, the flower on your handle butt cap is the same flower I use on my makers mark for my knives. A dogwood flower.
Dude! that thing is awesome! I love giving new life to what other's would consider trash! Great work! please keep making awesome things!
I think this is some of your best work. Just keep loving the process...
Simple but elegant. Love it.

I watch a lot of knife making videos. THIS ONE I'd pay money to have! Great job!
Thank you :)
That's a mighty fine blade right there.
This knife looks awesome. I would not use it of fear to scratch it or damage the handle. This would be so sad. It's a beautiful piece of work.

thanks

Veramente un bel coltello da caccia, fatto con tutti i criteri giusti, peccato non poter averne uno. Complimenti a questo artigiano
Very clever appointments.
Well done!
That came out beautiful, wonderful jobs that a wonderful job
Beautiful. Right up my street. I'd love to own that.
Very nice work! And all with simple means. Respect👍🏻
