    LeAnn Rimes - Blue single.
    Released June 4, 1996
"Rimes re-recorded the song for her debut album, Blue, in 1996 when she was 13. "Blue" became her first single. It debuted at #49 on the Billboard Country Chart for the week of 25 May 1996, becoming a major hit that summer, peaking at #10 on the Billboard Country Chart and #26 on the Billboard Hot 100, while also reaching #1 on the Canadian Country RPM singles chart. Rimes won the 1996 Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for this version"

It was a heart-wrenching evening when the Opry said goodbye to George.😢 I first saw LeAnn Rimes on Star Search Junior. 8 years old. Sang I want to be a Cowboy Sweetheart, complete with yodeling. I think it was the year after Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Randall Timberlake competed. Hopefully someone can find it for you. You're overdue for some actual yodeling. Love your channel and adore you, Britt. Thank you for sharing your time with us, each day.

Woooo, I just love Leann. She has a wonderful Country voice, but it's almost more of a Mountain Music/Appalachian Mountain Music kind of voice - especially with her yodelling capabilities. She is wonderful. I just love her voice. I still think that she is sometimes underrated because her voice and control over it is wonderful! Thank you for this reaction.

This is my take on the song:
In the song they were in love, she eventually fell out of love but he told her he would always love her until he died. She moved on with her life and he never stopped loving her until her died. After he died she came to the funeral. He was in a world he never stopped loving her. She told him he would eventually get over her and never gave him hope for a reconciliation. He played himself with his inability to stop loving her and moving on with his life.

Songs are like poetry set to music. It takes many listens and deep dives into the lyrics to interpret them. I would also argue that that interpretation is likely to vary across people and change over time because lyrics can mean different things to different folks and evolve based on life experiences. So, don't ever worry about not "getting" a song's meaning. You're doing just fine.

My grandfather was a country music producer worked with Jones quite a bit…I remember visiting him and this was one of our favorite songs. He bought me my 1st cd & cd player for Xmas when I was 10…I’m now 36 and Leann became my all time favorite vocalists and I can confidently say she has been the biggest vocal influence on my own style. I cried when I heard her version years ago, he had passed away by then and it makes me cry every time. I can so vividly picture my grandfather and I performing her version in his living room, or at his bar he owned…it’s a memory I don’t have but can picture anyway

No, people do not fall out of love. If you truly love someone, it's forever. Sometimes it's impossible to be with the person you love and sometimes you learn that you don't really love someone or your feelings don't grow into the love you expected. But no, as much as you might want to, people don't fall out of love.

I remember she was the blonde who sounded like Patsy Cline. Then she did the Coyote Ugly song, Can’t Fight The Moonlight, and teenage guys like me at the time were forever grateful. It was that phase where every other young female artist wanted to be Britney Spears because that’s where the money was. That’s what I appreciated about Canadian soul/rock singer Amanda Marshall. She was a couple of years older and she was really about the music. Almost all of her early singles were bangers. She did most of her videos in a big, wool coat. No dancing, no guys. Just her singing about things adults think about. If I Didn’t Have You, Let It Rain, Dark Horse, Fall From Grace and Believe In You were all terrific Janis Joplin-esque 90s tunes.

    People sometimes grow apart
She was probably dating him at first, and they exchanged love letters.
Feeling genuine affection for him, she may have put an "I love you" or two.
But unrequited love is as co..on or more common than true ❤ between soul mates.
He must have Falken for her hook, line, and sinker, but she wasn't truly in love and must have told him so.
She went on with her life but could not help but hear from mutual friends how his heart had been broken.
She thought she would forget him in time and told him he would forget her in time not knowing that he would not move on or forget a second of the times they'd spent together.
Was she evil? No, she just was not in love. She was honest about it to herself and to him.
He said "I'll love you 'til I die". He was right.
She said, "Aww, you'll forget in time." She was wrong.

She loved him, but fell out of love and was honest when she left him.
He never recovered from his heartbreak.

Ya see,ong ago, instead of texting e-mailing, people wrote letters to each other. The letters would have been from their dating days and it was common to save them. She left him and moved on. He couldn't. Once you truly give your heart away, you never get it back. I know. This song might as well be about me.

Hey Britt,i believe you got a good grasp for the lyrics i think at first she did love him but she met another man and so instead of being the cheater she left him but he had already fallen so deep in love that he could never truly let go of her so he clinged to her memory until his last breath..that's just my perspective and i have heard the song probably a million times..in her prime LeAnn was the top of the country music game but she just kinda fell off the map for one reason or another..she sounds as good in this video as she did in her prime ..she is a wonderful vocalist

You got closer to "right" on your first listen than most people. We really don't know if anyone is a villain, only that he did love her till he died. Sometimes things don't work out, and we just don't know why. Note that what you say in this reaction supports what I said about re-reacting to some (likely just a few) songs. I mentioned how important the steel guitar is in the George Jones version. They downplay it in this version, and I think it really hurts the song. George Jones also puts more emphasis on the song, while Leann Rimes puts more emphasis on her voice.

I sort of disagree with your take on the song. I do not think she was playing him, I think something majorly bad happened in their relationship that caused her to breakup with him. The song doesn't address what happened, or who was at fault. Either way, she moved on, he did not. She still cared enough to show up at his service.

She wasn't really the focus. He said I'll love her til I die early in the song. Then a bunch of filler details. Then the proof he lived up to his word and they carried him away.
