If they remade this lecture today with the same audience, they would be 26 years older than him.
A sign you've been watching GM Finegold for a long time: You involuntarily say "The Truth Hurts" a moment before he does. This just happened to me at 28:50. I'm still laughing.
Welcome to level 1. Now you have to add “And this leads to mate with advantage” and “and etc, mainly etc” and “Always sac the exchange” ans “Never play f6” and “knife f5” and …. 😂😂
"Insufficient mating material" I feel attacked!
I can't stop watching your videos. You are a wonderful teacher, and even better human being. I love your wit. It's unmatched. I hope you have a great year ahead of you and know that you are appreciated sir.
@1:50 "All stalemates are draws, but not all draws are stalemate." I just read a published chess book for beginners that stated multiple times that all draws are stalemate. Seriously. The author used the word "stalemate" for every type of draw!
Frankly, ridiculous
In some languages, its confusing. In German, stalemate is called Pat, which means draw. The word Remis is also used sometimes to describe insufficient material draws
@@Alexander-mw1ek
"Remis" in polish means literally draw.
And "Pat" means stalemate.
@@Alexander-mw1ek Depending on the quality of the translation, the book may have been translated from one language to English and the translation team just called everything a stalemate.
As a native German I have to say: this is wrong. @@Alexander-mw1ek
A one hour stalemate lecture, those poor kids.
😂
Ben made it even more entertaining than it could ever be
"There's a book, Cry like a Grandmaster - I'm not making this up - [...] I didn't write it, but it's about me. 😭 I was crying before you were born."
Excellent lecture, Mr.Finegold.
18:05 Lol "Get your shit away from the wall"
7:55 that looks like one of my games...
Now you know why I'm watching this lecture
What a big bite Ben took on his arm
The tooth hurts.

Best ever stalemate I ever saw was featured in the youtube video "insane in the endgame #1" by GM Tiberiu Georgescu
Schlechter would probably not have said "I´m winning, I´m Schlechter!" At least not in Germany... :)
29:42 😅. BTW another pretty game he didnt mention was an engine game shredder vs gull from TCEC 2013.
I don't think Nigel Short is thinking that stalemate thing through. For example, do you know how many books and chapters on king and pawn endgames would have to be thrown away? Having an extra pawn in the endgame would virtually guarantee you would win with very little thought. And the ripple effects....
You’re right. Which is why I think the devs won’t change it for Chess but it might be in Chess 2
all in all you are just another head hitting the wall... yo, nice, reference. um, yeah.. ok
That one was nice , took me a moment to realize
12:55 Oh yeah, the boy can play.
This is gonna be rough
41:17 if Kh4 I was wondering if it's winning for white, but it's not because Rg4+ Kxg4 Qd7 is the same trick as in the game: if Qxd7 it's stalemate again!
stalemate is the reason that i never make more than 2 queens per game...
28:16 Ben forgot about Kb4, exclam! 😄
2:18 who can win?
Is this sponsored by Perrier?
That's big seltzer all over again.
"Confusing the audience" XD
If you can 1. stalemate, 2. checkmate, or 3. en passant, I think we all know what the correct option is.
resign
always underpromote
This is an old video I’m soooo angry arrrrrggghhh😤😤😤😤😤
Never been so angry!
I was once surrounded by thugs in an alley and since I curled up into a ball in the corner they couldnt do anything. #chesslogic
Stalemating the audience. Terrible!
