From FRANCE.Tom is absoluty gorgeous, his blues eyes stand out à lot.HE was very handsome at That time.He remained handsome until the was 50 years.rest in place TOM.
Ever since I saw the performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom, Jeff Lynn, Steve Winwood, and of course, Prince, I've been obsessed with him and the Heartbreakers. I went down that rabbit hole and never left. He was such an American Treasure.❤💔
This video must be from around October, 8 1981, because Tom and Stevie performed "Wild Thing" together during the encore of the Gainesville show on that date. Also, Ron Blair is at the table, and he left the band in 1982 so he wouldn't have been there if it was 1982. More than this, in 1982, they only played one show in the states (the US Festival in September) then toured abroad in December, so they wouldn't necessarily have been in Florida.
@@MikeMonosRareTomPettyMedia I think 81 too. Mynewboyfriend.com had some footage of the Wild Thing performance mixed in with this interview years ago, I think from MTV. The Wild Thing performance and the Heartbreakers interview are on the Historic Archives website but listed as "not available for online viewing "
@@MikeMonosRareTomPettyMedia I was also thinking the same thing, about Ron Blair. In 1982, it would have been Howie Epstein, so this is most likely when you said, around Oct. 1981.
Along with the comments made by some other fans here, further down the page, I too have deduced that "this footage was filmed in the year of 1981!" And, NOT in 1982, as was erroneously stated next to the title of this video. To begin with, Tommy responded to 3 questions about their concert, which was going to be held "later that same night, after Tom's being given the key to the City." It turns out that the reality is that there was not a concert held by TPHB'S in Gainesville in 1982! So, this ceremony, and their concert afterward, had to have occurred during the year "1981!" Another point Tommy made reference to was that the band was worn out from doing a 9 month long Damn The Torpedoes tour! That tour would have ended in early 1981.And last, but far from least, a fan friend who lives in Gainesville finally confirmed for me that the TPHB'S concert in Gainesville, that was held later on the evening of this ceremony which presented Tom with the key to the city of Gainesville, "occurred on October 8th, 1981!"
@@rosemarywaldron497 And don't forget one other very glaring, obvious thing. Ron Blair, the first bass player is there. Howie Epstein took Ron's place when Ron left in 1982.
That's $2,226 in today's money. USA was in the worst economic situation since the Great Depression from 1981 to 1982. TP fought the record company so hard about trying to raise the price of his next album, he knew what it was like living in the real world.
This interview is a complete mess because first of all, everyone needs to be introduced or at least introduce themselves, since most people don't even know who the hell all of them are, except for maybe just Tom and the drummer.
I love listening to my Tom Petty records because he is a fine boy of good moral fiber and my doctor told me I need more fiber so...
Look at how young they are. Full of life and promise... and Tom and the Heartbreakers lived it 100%

I beg your pardon. That's quite rude!!
When did you grow out of your good looks?....or did you ever have any???
Susan, the comment from France may have been considered rude, but your comment in return was also rude.
Gone 3 years ago today. The world misses you terribly, Tom. Living large in my dreams and on my stereo. Love you.
Same
❤️❤️❤️❤️🎸🎶🎩 Oh my my, that fantastic smile. Legendary songwriter!
Brilliant. Always such respect for Tom Petty. 🎩✨💕
The man exuded humbleness....

My relatives grew up on same street with the Pettys. They said he was always Tommy when he came home
I absolutely loved him!
My first time watching this. I love it! Thank you for showing this to all the fans!
Thank you for posting this. Love it.
Tom & bandmates are all good looking! Congrats!
He was a precious talent!
This made my day. Love you TP and HB 🎸💘
💘 Mike Campbell!
Love Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, just LOVE 'em!❤💓❤
Beautiful soul ❤
Very awesome as always
absolutely love it :)
This is fucking awesome!
So first. So funny. I’m surprised he didn’t wonder if that was the key to the jail. Ha ha.
Even back then there was tension with Stan Lynch, Tom threw a dig in and Stan gives a look to kill.
what was the question Benmont was asked around 10:00? audio isn't very clear...
I wish I could figure out what she asked! I’m dying to know haha!
Would you be able to post the performance of Tom and Stevie singing Wild Thing? I think it was from this show?
Thank you!

I found audio of the full track (finally) and uploaded it to my channel!

Could you put the year in the description
It says 1982

It was 81, you're correct. I went to the concert at the Oconell Center that night.
