Well, my aunt replaced all 4 tires on her car. The 2 front tires were 4 months old, but the back tires were 8 years old. She is an older lady, and the garage took advantage of her!!!!!
Thank you! That’s reassuring! Just bought tires manufactured 2 yrs 5mo ago, from reputable local business. They’re 60k tires, so unlikely I’ll use that much mileage in 4 yrs time. Hoping thay’ll last longer than that though.
This video needs more views! Its packed with great information! I have a corvette too! I have c7 z06 and just just bought tires for them today! My rear tires were made 9 months ago while my fronts were made 13 months ago. So that's not too bad right?
Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the Z06, they’re fun cars. I just love mine. As for the tires you purchased, that’s a great age. If it’s a specialty tire and size (such as yours), it’s common for it to be bit older based on supply/demand and accessibility. Within or around a year - I think that’s an excellent timeframe.
I asked a seller about the DOT of the tires I wanted to buy and they told me it's 4 weeks before 2024 (so maybe a DOT of 4823 or something). When I brought my vehicle I saw that the DOT on the tires are actually 2223, which makes it about 6 months older than what they told me earlier although it's still only around 16 months old (instead of just 10-11 months old). Kinda irked I just went away. Did I do the right thing? Should I go back and get them anyway?
Hey Andrew, wee typo there... "bear" with me. The other one I see misspelled all the time is "breaks" for brakes. One stops your car, the other you eat a kit-kat during, or drink your coffee. HA!
Look on the sidewall for the "DOT" marking - there will be some codes directly after that and one of them will be a four digit sequence. For instance "0321", means the tires were manufactured the 3rd week of the year 2021. Another example could be 2910, meaning the tires were manufactured the 29th week of the year 2010. Hope this explanation helps.

Thanks so much for this video! I'm getting new tires soon, and I'll check the dates before they put them on.
Thank you!
Tyres correctly stored by a dealer that may be manufactured 5-6 years ago can be safely used

Thank you Steve and Cathy for that - it’s corrected. I think you just became my new proofreader!!!
2:35 - how to find the date the manufacturer made the tire.
