  • Here are a few tips and tricks using Syntheyes that I have used over the years and still use today. The first is a quick way to get rid of a camera spike in our path. Second is a quick way to deal with grainy or noisy footage that is giving us a shaky camera. Last is altering the image so we can add more tracking surfaces when we don't have any in the original image.

    noisy footage - 1:31
    alter footage for tracking - 2:25

    Man, the tip about Planar Tracking + Checkerboard image, to put onto footage for tracking, is absolutely amazing, I was thinking: "Why I've never thought on it before?". Thank you so much!!!

      @@prophetless I just realised Syntheyes has planar tracking in it too. Has that been added since the tutorial?

      Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been getting notifications lately for some reason.
      The planar tracker in Syntheyes has been there for many years. The Syntheyes planar tracker is not as accurate as using mocha for the kind of effect in the tutorial in my experience. Or maybe it's more that I have been using mocha long before Syntheyes added their planar tracker so I'm more familiar. I'm sure you could use the planar tracker in Syntheyes though. It's more the process than the tools :)

    Hi, tracking king. how can i get the latest plug-in exporting syntheyes tracking data to lastest Blender, my plug-in only support 2.79, but now the lastest blender version is 4.1.

      hahaha. Sounds like you need to upgrade or download the newest version. The latest Syntheyes version works fine.

    Nice idea - how accurate is the post-detail planar tracking texture compared to having real points to track in your experience?

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless  Год назад

      In practice, that method has saved me in situations where there was nothing to track. Having actual points to track is going to be more accurate. But in a pinch this method works really well.

      @@prophetless thanks for the reply - I am currently in a similar situation for a floor with little to no features, and I wanted to try this method but worry that the perspective might be messed up. Do you have any tips to make the projected details as plausible as possible?
      Thanks again for your great tips & tricks!

    • @prophetless
      @prophetless  Год назад

      @@BlackPantherElite If you can get a solid planar track on the floor, that sticks, then it should match up very well. Typically though the method is to help solve the 3d camera. For example in the shot in the tutorial. It gave me a good 3d camera solve but the points from the altered footage were a little off from where the ground needed to be. So I used zero weight trackers to find certain locations after the 3d camera solve to place the floor in the exact position.

    • @BlackPantherElite
      @BlackPantherElite Год назад

      @@prophetless with "off' do you mean that the checkerboard was tilted in a way that was not 100% plausible for the ground and thus creating imperfect points? Because that is what I want to avoid ofcourse, I will take a look at 0 weight trackers. Thanks again! (Subscribed)

      It was off a little because of the wrinkles of the green screen by a little. But in your case if the floor is say a hardwood floor that you can match the planar surface perspective it should work out perfect.
