    Disclaimer: This video was made long before Jasper Byrne released his 'Directors Cut' version of the game thus it does not have the 'White' or 'Yellow' endings. (My video release January 2013 > Directors Cut release October 2013)

    Thanks for this video, I had just finished the game and was very confused with the ending. Your explanations made a lot of sense. Thanks!

    Jesus....I really wanna play this again....but it's bringing me back painful memories of when I was in a coma myself. The whole "repeating nightmare" structure, least that's what I remember from when I was out. It was literally this, over and over again, and people in my dream kept trying to get me out of it, only to tell me they had to try again. When I finally woke up, I experienced time in reverse....which is the weridest thing ever to experience if you're not on lsd.

    actaully, I think it's because if he begins solving all of his weapons with the gun, he starts becoming trigger happy, or begin enjoying it, bad for your sanity if you ask me, thus lead to the ending where you simply shoot the old man to deal with your problems, you solved all your problems with your gun, and I guess the lone survivor solved the final problem with one last bullet for himself, sad, really...

    You can understand the endings by the song titles that appear on each ending:
    The ending music for the Red and Blue endings is titled "Sleep Forever". The title of of the Green ending theme is "Survival." The credits music for any ending is "Moving On."

      PariahCaste Jasper Byrne is brilliant tbh.
      I hope he makes more games.

    Firstly thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Interesting, I remember reading that but missed talking about it in the video I'm glad you brought it up. I agree if that is indeed what is going on that could very easily add another layer to his crazy and in my book the more complex the better. It also adds a reason for the bus to be there other than just another set piece.

    Who else got the red ending after completely forgetting that sanity was a thing and when they got the ending were like wtf is this the end

    It would be cool to revisit this with the addition of the yellow ending and what you have to do to get it, and who Chie is.

    I thought the main character was insane and all the zombies were actually real people but he imagined them as zombies. Like in "i am legend."

    Hey PariahCaste, I'd suggest trying out the new Director's cut update, it adds a few new things and two new endings that sorta help make things more understandable.

    Another thing to think about is the two "bosses" are called Daddy and Mommy respectively, though im struggling to fit it into the story.

    27:20 in my opinion (giving the cracter the name of "The Director")... that dude could be like a deus ex machina... like the director fo the game itself, giving you answers/help from above... idk, plus as you said, he keeps quoting movies, and "deus ex machina" concept its a very common things in movies (and literature)... anyway, nice video to help me understand what beautiful game i've just played

    The endings follow your verdict, blue being he cannot coop (or cannot escape) and green being him facing her. the monster are metaphoric for fighting. Personal I think it is his Wife and the reason he is shocked to see his name on the door is because all he is seeing is his last name (green ending) or himself in the coma/life death (blue/red ending)... but half the fun of the store is interpretation.

    I wonder why I miss this kind of stuff in some stories but not others. I missed a lot of symbolism and similar stuff in TLOU as well, and until I watched videos on both of these games I remembered them as kind of lackluster, but appreciate them more now that it's been explained to me. I guess I'm just a smoothbrained idiot

    There's the yellow ending that is more like a joke ending where "You" decides to stop trying to survive and just party with Chie and the two other guys in their apartment, and there's the white ending that is the true perfect ending of the game where "You" accepts "Her" death and decides to move on...By the way, that's a very good video, I never thought the whole game was just an alucination of some sorts though.

    Like you explaination and hollar up some time i have a few theories myself... one which I wanna share with you. Survivor's Guilt. if you listen to Radio before facing mother you can get the phrase "go to the bus..." "were this all Started" I Believe that the character was in a relationship (either family or GF) with the Blue girl and an accident while riding the bus to the hills either placed him in an asylum or a coma while her is now dying or died with him in the hospital

    Honestly found it harder shooting stuff. Sure once you kill stuff its usually gone and you get free roaming of that place, but honestly there are quite quick and safe ways around any and all enemies, using rot meat and flares, hiding, etc. where, and confirmed, you can more easily complete the game without firing a single shot then going guns blazing

    • @gianni50725
      @gianni50725 3 года назад +1

      Before you get flares though you're basically railroaded into where you can and can't go. You have a lot more flexibility with the gun. After you get flares it's easier in most cases but you can still run out easily if it's your first playthrough and you aren't sure where to go, especially in the damn basement section.

    I'm preeettty sure the whole Soundless Mountain arcade is a pretty big reference to the Silent hill series. It's an actual game that's basicallly a 2d silent hill 2 game made by the same guy

    • @PariahCasteGaming
      @PariahCasteGaming  10 лет назад +1

      I say in the video that it is a de-make of Silent Hill 2 when I am talking about the arcade game origins. So yes I agree.

    • @chrislerche4990
      @chrislerche4990 10 лет назад +1

      Oh okay, must've lost some attention. I just got that out when you said there are like only two very distinct references, so I might've missed that point. Maybe you should also tell in the video that the main character is a unreliable narrator (the whole thing about saying the stuff in his apartment isn't his) and thats partially why you don't really get a clear view of the situation. Otherwise from that I really enjoyed your take on it :)

      Seriously,I think this is one of my favourite games of all time and I want a sequel,it will work to see him try to escape his devastated country and see a longer game because if it will have checkpoints than you would be able to restart from that area or town and be able to go from that point on and it will be so awesome afteral,it is better for a player to get bored of a game than to want more and never get it.

    I hope you make an update to this video when Super Lone Survivor comes out and you get to play it.
    Would be interesting to get it fleshed out, because even though the White ending sheds more light on what happened some things are still not clear (ie: what the Thin Men really represent; are they real people, why is killing them actually bad, and who the man with the white face and The Director are).

    • @PariahCasteGaming
      @PariahCasteGaming  3 года назад +1

      Might be a good excuse to go back if I can find the time to make it happen. This is a very cool atmospheric game that I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting. Hope you enjoyed the video despite the white ending no being available when I made it.

    No wonder Lone Survivor lost track of how long he's been in "here" perhaps he's been always getting blue endings, and could never break out of it, dying, or breaking free for taking care of himself were the only ways he could finally get out of the cycle. Just a theory.

      +Dawn Mckee When the video starts I have a thing that tells you I made this video long before the "Directors Cut" version of the game (the one that adds the white and yellow endings to the game) came out thus it does not have them as they did not exist outside of 'Jasper Byrne's' head for me to cover. I have pondered doing another video sometime that does cover these endings but it will take a huge amount of research, re-familiarization with the source material and script writing to create so I have not done so yet. Thank you for the interest though.

    How about the white ending?

    • @PariahCasteGaming
      @PariahCasteGaming  5 лет назад

      If I ever play through this game again I may add the white and yellow endings. The reason they are not in this video is as the description says this video came out in January and the Director's cut did not happen until October of the same year. As I am not made of magic I could not see into the future and explain something that did not exist.

  • @MysteriousStranger50
    @MysteriousStranger50 10 лет назад +2

    The way he says vague is pretty stupid, its something small sure, but no one says vague as 'Vag' its 'Vayg' Va-g-'ue' the E is as school should have taught the "magic E" making the A in vague said 'Ay'
    Other than that pretty good video, could have had more depth if going to be intended as an explanation video, look up what the facts are, not just your opinions if it meant to explain the game.
