I've only found out yesterday this was a Dylan song! Known it for two decades by Sherly Crow and only heard a random comment that it was a Dylan song. Paying attention now, of course it is. Prefer this version to be honest.
Another great lyric by the Maestro, and Sheryl nails it in her own way: "...Got nothing for you, I had nothing before Don't even have anything for myself anymore Sky full of fire, came pouring down Nothing you can sell me, I'll see you around"
The Dixie Chicks do an almost identical version of this live. Including leaving out the reference to Rosie. Very strange how the Dixie Chicks copied this arrangement. Check it out! Dylan has several versions of his own fantastic song. Listen to the choppy military style drumming on the original. Amazing.
If you think his writing was bad on the Christian discs maybe you haven't actually listened to them. You can't tell me "Every Grain of Sand" wasn't a Dylan masterpiece.
A happy, peppy upbeat number about the day Jeff Buckley tragically died in a river in Mississippi. Of course, Dylan's album "Love And Theft" came out on 9/11 so this could have been far more inappropriate.
Her singing was okay and it's a catchy version but I don't like her changing up the lyrics. She gave the song a chorus repeating the same lines. The real lyrics don't have any repeated lines except for "stayed in Mississippi a day too long".
She didn't change up the lyrics. Bob Dylan gave her this song to record. He didn't make his own version for a few years after she did hers, so technically his version is the cover!
boys, i hate this version, sherryl just spoiled a great song. much too fast! this song has to have atmosphere and heart! this is too dancy and too cheap!
I love this song by Bob Dylan...But the Dixie Chicks are required to delete "Dixie" from their music because Black Lives Matter. Is it okay to call them "Alabama or Mississippi Chicks"?
Sheryl Rocks ❤❤
"but my heart is not weary, it's alive and it's free. I have nothing but affection for all those who've sailed with me."
Brilliant
Because he is brilliant.
One of my favorites of hers. I love singing along to this!
She's the best female rocker. Dylan must like her to give her this great song...
Sheryl's rock,
Dylan's Dylan..
so, both rock it!
Great version. Bobs best song this Millenium.
Great concert from 1999
Sheryl Crow. Mi cantante anglo favorita.
Perfect
I need something strong to distract my mind,I wanna look at you til my eyes go blind. Its always great to feel that way
Why do people say 'not as good as Dylan's'? This is her excellent version and shouldn't be compared. Dylan would do her songs differently!
Perfect esp considering she appears ‘under the weather’ a bit….
Dylan wouldn't do her songs
@@DavidS-rb2rj wonder why she is wonderful. Missoura Proud Lady

Totally agree! Sheryl Crow fan forever! ❤️

The drummer is really enjoying himself
Wowww so glad I came upon this!

1000 vivas à B O B D Y L A N 🙌
Valeu, Sheryl👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
There is a better video of her in concert doing Mississippi with an orchestra behind her that was awesome. Can't find it any longer.
there is more than one way to play a song....

I respect this version, but I feel the lyrics lend themselves to the slower and darker way that Dylan played it. And bring back Rosie!
If you think his writing was bad on the Christian discs maybe you haven't actually listened to them. You can't tell me "Every Grain of Sand" wasn't a Dylan masterpiece.
🙏🏻
Great cover!
WOW
love her version
Muito bom.
One day in Mississippi is one day too long.
Each Day!
Dylan and Willie are in the same arena. Way better songwriters than singers. Can't argue with Ms Cheryl here 😄
❤ 💙 💜..
Silly to make comparisons ...just treat it as a different interpretation
this was actually the first version released
Elle aussi, elle est terrible !
Et toi aussi
Dylan gave her this song on her birthday
where is that info..very cool
Funny thing is she released her version before Bob Dylan did
Who’s that playing the fiddle??? Crow is one of my fave Southern rockers! Well, my favorite actually…
Aie aie aie
wow never knew it was a dylan cover
Learn him and listen to his songs. ( you may get lost in his universe)
Mais qu'est-ce que c'est toutes ces femmes chanteuses et guitaristes ???
Aie, aie, aïe, 😂❤
Great song but nobody can sing his songs like he does!
Good version, and I would probably like it more if I didn't know Dylan's.
Cheryl en brune, je ne suis pas habitué. Mais pourquoi pas ???
Dylan even knows she's great. She knows he's great.
They ain't studying all this.
They've made their ways successfully and still kick ass
Missipi
the Chicks have a good version of this
I been haunted by you! I would like to be that Gibson you embrace 😉
Where are your bleu eyes ?

Is that Lisa Germano on fiddle?
Lorenzo Ponce
I always think this is how lisa Marie Presley should be like

Sheryl has short hair and her fans were raging seems that change didnt do her good
Jane Fonda? :)
NOT AS GOOD AS THE CHICKS version but pretty good.
Fiddler is hot hot hot hot
C'est pas beau ça ? Mais si .
love her but no
boys, i hate this version, sherryl just spoiled a great song.
much too fast! this song has to have atmosphere and heart! this is too dancy and too cheap!
This can't be serious. Who came up with the shit intro?
