  • I tried to translate NEMOPHILA’s cover “Maximum the Hormone / Zetsubou Billy” into English.
    Japanese lyrics and their Romanized notation are listed together.
    This song is the ending theme of the 2nd season "DEATH NOTE" aired in 2007.
    Then, I captured a lot of “Tamu” as an extra. ;-)

    I think the part at 1:27 is wrong.
    I think it's "sadame", not "unmei".
    If you look at the lyrics, you'll see the word "運命" in kanji.
    This kanji is generally pronounced "unmei", but it can also be pronounced "sadame".
    It sounds like they are pronouncing it as "sadame".
    So I think the correct answer is "sadame no jibaku".

    • @groundbit
      @groundbit  2 года назад

      I can’t hear how Mayu pronounces “運命”. There are other parts of the song that are unclear, but since it is a copy performance, she should be singing the original lyrics, right? As for the part you pointed out, at least she has skillfully reproduced the way of the original singing. You can listen to it here “ruclips.net/video/y1v6XGxP0Rc/видео.html”. Well, “真相 皆知り得ぬ”, isn’t that good? ;-) Thank you for your comment.

      @@groundbit Of course, I wrote my comment after checking the original as well. The original sounds even more "sadame" to me.
      And I'm sorry for pointing out the details.
      To begin with, the lyrics of Maximum the Hormone, even if a Japanese listens to it, can't understand what they are saying for the most part, right?
      I only noticed it because I once wanted to sing it at karaoke and had to look at the lyrics to decipher what it was saying.
      But still, it's amazing that you could translate these insanely difficult lyrics into English!
      I think that alone makes you awesome.

    • @groundbit
      @groundbit  2 года назад

      The original sounds like “unmei”.
      The summary section contains the lyrics in romanized form and I’ve never seen it used as "sadame", not just here.

      (The music notation for the lyrics is very difficult...)
      A band score supervised by the members also has been released, so you may find the right answer there.
      By the way, I’m sorry to hear your praise, but reducing the number of words is a priority for me in English translation, and I hope you’ll keep a warm eye on my work in light of that situation.

      @@groundbit No problem.
      I'm not going to say I'm absolutely right, I could be wrong.
      I just wanted to point out that it sounds like "sadame" to me, no matter how many times I hear it.
      If you find out the correct answer, please let me know.
      I'm going to ask some of my friends which way it sounds.

    • @groundbit
