The platter that has the holes is for bagels. There would have been two wooden poles that they went on where the holes are. I remember dagny found one about a year ago.
There is a way to check if glass, pottery , porcelain or really anything- has a crack- flick the edge with your index finger- if it rings all good if there is a crack the sound you hear is a thud- an antique dealer showed me this trick over 40 years ago- came in handy clearing out our family homes -
11:52 THe missing bits are metal rods to hold the bagels. Maybe wood, but most likely metal. It's a bagels and lox tray used by observant Jews for Saturday morning breakfast. It's the Sabbath, so no hot food. The classic solution was bagels, cream cheese, and smoked salmon. Can't say I'd object!
Learn something new every day! I was just wondering who in their right mind would desecrate perfectly beautiful glass with permanent freaking MARKER!? JEEZ! 😶🙄😱
It's so nice to see a new thrift store video. I'm not a huge fan on the antique shops, but I do appreciate, and support you and all the hard work you put into every video ❤
I love those narrow shelves. You can actually see everything that you're looking at, the reason you are there. And it's nice that it's not everything stacked on top of everything else.
I have the tea set and luncheon plates in the freindly village, my mother brought them back from England in August 1971. We only used them at Christmas time and a birthday, now they just sit in my china cabnet and look pretty😂. 💜🦊🦉
I was excited to see the Friendly Village items you purchased. The neat thing about The Friendly Village is that each different piece has a different part of the village on the front. The maple bush, the village, the apple orchard etc. I have a set of 16 in a variety of pieces, plates, cups and saucers, serving dishes, you name it. I bought the set when they released the print back into issue in 1987 togo with pieces that belonged to my dad. Some original pieces that belonged to my Dad, likely from the 50s or 60s, were the soup taurine, the cream and sugar and a teapot. I may just have to purchase worth point to cost them out.
Oh that is really quite funny. I would love a storm or such like named after me but it wouldn't sound very good so not much chance of that happening lol
Hi Jocelyn! I live only about 45 minutes from that store. The last time I went, I also was surprised at how different the store looked. I also felt like the prices had skyrocketed! 🚀🚀
That spiral wooden hanging item is a porch hanger it’s like a wind chime except that instead of making sounds it spins in a spiral looking way. Mesmerizing. Love them.
Big mistake not taking the salad & bread plates to me. 🥰 Then again you are resealing them so you know what you are doing.🥰 I have been looking for them in my treasure hunt.🥰.
You were in my neck of the woods! They have been remodeling the Valley Thrift for a while now! I used to buy my son's baby things in that store!! Now he is 25 years old. Greatest thrift store in the area!
That's prob the one you know of. It's on Woodman, across from the old Value City building... they have remodeled and moved the parking lot to one side of the shop, no more parking on that crazy incline!!
I live in Indiana, work in Ohio, and go to church in Kentucky but you were sooo in my thrift store stomping ground. If you were in the area on Saturday I was a couple of exits up thrifting at three other area stores. Would have loved to have met you. Love watching your videos, thanks so much.
I go to Springfield every year for my birthday and always hit all the valley thrifts... I've been more times in 5 years than I've brought home anything good. I'm amazed that you filled a whole cart! 😍 Great finds!
My mother has the complete set of the Johnson Brothers plates. She has the matching drinking glasses, vegetable serving bowls, obviously the plates, salad plates, bowls, coffee mugs and the nice tea cups and saucers. We only ate off them on Sunday dinners in the dining room and holidays.
I love shopping there. I don't know what day you were there, but some of the items I saw were still on the shelf when I was there. Welcome to Ohio anytime girl!!!!
I have a lot of place settings of the Friendly Village in the box with other dinner service pieces like a platter. Maybe I’ll look at selling them since I never use them.
That looks like a great store!! Do big!! You find great things!! Love seeing what you find!! Love you and your channel!! Your a sweet person!! Much love!! ❤️💜💖🌹🥰🙏🙏🌺🌺🌺💕💕
I was told to write over the permanent marker with a white board marker and it comes off but i have never tried it , as i always used rubbing alcohol to remove marker of things.
I liked Valley Thrift when the shelves were overflowing and one had to dig. But I also understand how some people would prefer this. I wonder if they have less breakage as well. Also this thrift store benefits veteran associations. There are two i know of. This one in Dayton and the other is in Cincinnati Ohio but I haven’t been to that one
My favorite store when we go to go the Wright Patterson for the half marathon. Also the Goodwill outlet across the street is our all over favorite bin store. Last year we also stopped at the Heart of Ohio Antique store. Next time will stay longer and hit Springfield flea market.
Convex frames: I've sold 2 vtg convex framed portraits, both of a baby, for $130 each. Paid $11 ea. @ GW. Both buyers hung in their doll collection room. Must be a thing?
I just realized what shop you are at. Last time you were with Kate and another thrifters. It was crazy! The shelves were a hodge podge. That divided tray was for bagels. The bagel "rods" would go in the holes.
You should check out another one called Village Thrift which is only a couple of miles away. I personally feel like Valley Thrift has raised prices way too high.
The tray with the holes I think is one of the bases you buy things to put in the holes. I can't remember the name but there are a bunch of things you can put in the holes. People will just buy the bases if they have some of the inserts.
ya know, every time I see you there with snow I thank my lucky stars I'm in Texas! (especially after laying on my front porch for 20 minutes waiting for EMS to come and pick me up... I'm fine)
Fun adventure! There are different versions of Friendly Village. I have the winter version that I use during winter, but there is also a spring version that has blossoming trees. I don't know if there is a value difference between the two. ❤
I think the missing things that go on the tray are dowels to put bagels on since it looks like a brunch tray.
Was coming here to say the same thing
❤Valley - I live in Kettering and go here often. I knew that is where you were within the first minute or two😊
The platter that has the holes is for bagels. There would have been two wooden poles that they went on where the holes are. I remember dagny found one about a year ago.

To get black permanent marker off most things, spray it with cheap spray hairspray. It gets it off clothes, skin and glass. Good luck. 👍🏻🍀
I'm glad you told me this. I just remembered my momma God rest her soul would say the same thing. Ty for that!!❤
@emilyb5106 I've used sand paper on pottery and dmso also works to dissolve the ink.
Learn something new every day! I was just wondering who in their right mind would desecrate perfectly beautiful glass with permanent freaking MARKER!? JEEZ! 😶🙄😱
Fingernail polish remover also works but I don't know if I'd use it in an area that would show...just in case
This fact is why l don't put hairspray on my hair 😅
Wood dowels for bagels!
Came here to say that! The tray needs the bagel dowels. The brown rings around the holes represent bagels
YES!
There was a Samsonite 70s makeup case in blue right when you put the bird in your cart..I love those vintage cases
I saw that too and was hoping Jocelyn would look at it.
I noticed it too!
The wooden swirley thing is a silent wind chime. You hand it outside and it turns in the wind.
It's so nice to see a new thrift store video. I'm not a huge fan on the antique shops, but I do appreciate, and support you and all the hard work you put into every video ❤
Jostling the wooden twist is a garden pice for hanging an spinning 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Hi Ann from Nelson, New Zealand 🇳🇿
I have found that using a dry erase marker over permanent marker helps remove it. I hope that helps. I learn so much from your videos.
The platter at 12:01 with the 2 holes is a bagel platter - would have a wood dowel upright in each hole to hold the bagels…. easily replaced.
I love those narrow shelves. You can actually see everything that you're looking at, the reason you are there. And it's nice that it's not everything stacked on top of everything else.
I like it both ways. I like the organized shelves but I also like "the hunt" on the full disorganized shelves. ❤
I have that bunny you picked up at 15:20 - My brother in high school made him for me in art class, and I've had him nearly 60 years!
I have the tea set and luncheon plates in the freindly village, my mother brought them back from England in August 1971. We only used them at Christmas time and a birthday, now they just sit in my china cabnet and look pretty😂. 💜🦊🦉

Wales is been battered by a storm!! Can you guess the weathermen have called it? Yes?? storm JOCELYN!
Oh that is really quite funny. I would love a storm or such like named after me but it wouldn't sound very good so not much chance of that happening lol
I like the tea pot you picked up at the beginning. It was unique (the colorful one).
Wow I have the whole set of the Johnson Brothers sevring for 12. In a box in my basement for over 40 years
I loved those orange mugs at the beginning
Hi Jocelyn! I live only about 45 minutes from that store. The last time I went, I also was surprised at how different the store looked. I also felt like the prices had skyrocketed! 🚀🚀
I agree! I've been twice and left empty-handed after looking around for at least an hour.
4:10 goes outside ( or a covered porch) and spins in the wind.
I have the friendly village as well. It was my moms and I use it for holiday meals!
That spiral wooden hanging item is a porch hanger it’s like a wind chime except that instead of making sounds it spins in a spiral looking way. Mesmerizing. Love them.
5:45 I was just thinking you were destined for disappointment looking for glass in the plastic aisle.😆
Really liked the teapot you picked up at the beginning.
The serving tray is missing 2 dowels to stack bagels on😊
I think the thing that was missing from the tray are bagel holders
Big mistake not taking the salad & bread plates to me. 🥰 Then again you are resealing them so you know what you are doing.🥰 I have been looking for them in my treasure hunt.🥰.
That tray is for bagels and there should be sticks that go in the holes to stack the bagel
The tray had sticks for bagels to be stacked. Dagny bought it before!
You were in my neck of the woods! They have been remodeling the Valley Thrift for a while now! I used to buy my son's baby things in that store!! Now he is 25 years old. Greatest thrift store in the area!
Where in Ohio is this shop? I live in Dayton and we have a Valley Thrift but don't think it's this big of a store.
That's prob the one you know of. It's on Woodman, across from the old Value City building... they have remodeled and moved the parking lot to one side of the shop, no more parking on that crazy incline!!
The Goodwills in my area only write on things with permanent markers. Go get you a little can of Goof Off and it removes marker like magic.
WD40 works fine also. I've used WD40 on many items and it has ALWAYS removed it.
To get permanent marker off, try a Mr. Clean magic eraser. I have used it to get permanent marker off a vehicle with ease.
What was missing wasn’t shakers, it was wooden dowels, for bagels!
Man I Wish we had a store like that here in my area!!! I will be all over that 😎
I live in Indiana, work in Ohio, and go to church in Kentucky but you were sooo in my thrift store stomping ground. If you were in the area on Saturday I was a couple of exits up thrifting at three other area stores. Would have loved to have met you. Love watching your videos, thanks so much.

Hey girl...let's make plans for a trip this Spring to meet up in Northern Ohio. I will show you some of the best thrift shopping around! 😊
The bagel tray was just missing wooden dowels that you stack the bagels on. It is Lefton I think.
Staff that helps you carry out to the car! How nice, you just have to plan on another trip. Nice video 😅
I was told to write over the permanent marker with a white board marker and it comes off but i have never tried it , as i always used rubbing alcohol to remove marker of things.
I ❤ the Macbeth evans sweetheart monax pattern .
Maybe dowels go in those holes on that platter for bagels?
Great video! I'm from the Cincinnati/Dayton area. Valley Thrift is one of my favorite sourcing spots!
There are wooden dowels missing. Dagne had that. It is for stacking bagels.
What a great shop! I noticed some Pioneer woman but it was quick so i couldn't tell what it was ☺️
I have a small collection of that type of plates with food type designs on them, most made in Italy, but my grandchildren love them!!
If you ever get to Michigan - I can show you some great places!! :)
My favorite store when we go to go the Wright Patterson for the half marathon. Also the Goodwill outlet across the street is our all over favorite bin store. Last year we also stopped at the Heart of Ohio Antique store. Next time will stay longer and hit Springfield flea market.

Sounds kinda spooky lol
There’s one of these stores in Hawthorne, New Jersey every time I visit the state I go here two or three times and always find great treasures
That platter with the holes is missing two poles that hold bagels
I just realized what shop you are at. Last time you were with Kate and another thrifters. It was crazy! The shelves were a hodge podge.
That divided tray was for bagels. The bagel "rods" would go in the holes.
Magic eraser takes off just about everything!!
I do love those plates.
I would so have bought that moon phase plaque. sigh
The honey pig with knife- Archie McPhee was a successfulhumor catalog sales with warehouse buyouts of odd gadgets and reports.
I’m a teacher and writing over sharpie writing with a sharpie takes it off
Sorry WHAT?????
I love the chalkware moon that you did not pick up!
That's in my back door. Literally! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
These shelves are better!
Hand sanitizer works to take marker off too.
Wow! The place looks like an old airplane hangar or factory! Even so, tou got some good stuff. 🌺
Great finds, I love shopping Village Thrift. I go to tbe one in Cincinnati.
The wooden thing $1.99 you hang up outside & the wind will blow the different parts around
Those mugs did go with that teapot
They did, loved them.
Great prices and really cool finds!
You should check out another one called Village Thrift which is only a couple of miles away. I personally feel like Valley Thrift has raised prices way too high.
Thank you so much for taking us shopping with you, I always enjoy perusing with you! And I learn so much ❤
Great store with great finds. 😊
What great finds. Never know what you will find at the Goodwill. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
I always love the little tune at the end!
I can't stand it. It's jarring after her calm sweet voice 😅😅
@@onlyluvisreal6691but you keep listening to it???! 🙄🙄🙄🙄
@puppy2haley no I turn it off when it comes on lol.
I love it! It's so cute and funky and totally fun!
I'm fine)
I have had great success with rubbing alcohol to remove magic markers.
Also WD40 works great on any glass and pottery items.
Alcohol pads work well on permanent marker- at least on dry erase boards when people use the wrong markers
Joycelyn, you must have tons of fun of shopping?!
Awesome flash light!
Try 90% rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover on permanent marker on glass products
What an amazing place, its HUGE😮 Id spend hours in there😊.. loved what you bought❤
Found tray like that on ebay for bagles and lox. Selling got $65. Shown to be lefton.
Are there any current videos stocking the booth
I collect Johnson Brothers Friendly Village china. Great score.
Hey There!!!!!!!!! Have a great evening everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol....that tissue gave me anxiety thru the whole video. I just cant.😂
Try the foam hand sanitiser to get the permanent marker off.
You can use a dry erase marker to get the permanent marker off, just mark right onto it!!
I want to know where she keeps all of her inventory.
New shop video yay love all the places you are sharing and thank you for sharing ❤. I collect rabbits.
This place is pretty cool. I loved the plates! Nice score!
Great finds
The pig condiment dispenser thing is probably Archie McPhee. They're a contemporary gift/novelty company.
Fun adventure! There are different versions of Friendly Village. I have the winter version that I use during winter, but there is also a spring version that has blossoming trees. I don't know if there is a value difference between the two. ❤
There are also autumn pieces. I had a big set, using all seasons together.
Your videos are so great but I'm curious how do you hold the camera
