Our thrift stores have jacked up their prices so, so high that it's barely worth it to go anymore.
Same. Was shocked and sad to see what GW charges these days! 😳
Omg yes they have! I have seen quite a few items with the original price tags still attached and the thrift stores prices were higher than the store!!!!!!! I have been a thrifter since the 80's and it has gotten to the point where I go in looking for the tags that are onsale for that week.
Yes, I have seen thrift store staff checking online sales price. No more deals for folks who are not looking to flip the purchases. Flippers are almost being pushed out.
I agree. They would rather throw away all the access that doesnt get sold instead of pricing things reasonably

Garage, estate sales, and flea markets are the way to go nowadays. Goodwill is pricing stuff at or above what you'd buy it retail, I told one of the worker's that I'm sure they don't control it, but we can shop at HomeGoods and spend less. I feel especially bad for people that rely on Goodwill for their needs. You price like I do when I sell anything, a price that's still a great deal for the next person and takes care of my expense and time. I wish you continued success, have a great day!
Thanks for explaining how you price things. Your prices are extremely reasonable. Things have gotten very high in the thrift stores. To the point they need to drop the word thrift. I’ve seen several where they’re prices are as high or higher than new retail. It’s just crazy. Thanks Kelly
I have purchased things that were too shiny and then sprayed them with a matte clear spray and it really works to remove that shiny look
I just love to watch what you choose to purchase. You have such excellent taste. Love your channel too. Thanks for taking me shopping with you!
I like your prices. It is so good to see reasonable pricing.
Great finds! The prices at the Salvation Army in Grand Rapids have gone up but not as much as other thrift stores in the area. I understand that their overhead has gone up like everyone else's, but it does cut into our own profit margins. You're right, the best prices are often and garage sales.
I keep my prices so reasonable when selling. My local thrifts prices have skyrocketed and sometimes make no sense.
I love your videos!!
I think the reason for the high prices at the thrift stores is because they know people are buying to resell. They research what the original price was and they go on eBay to see what they are selling for. That’s how they are pricing what they are selling. My mom was a thrifter and I bought almost everything at thrift stores and garage sales to make our money stretch. I still buy 98% of our clothes and decorations at thrift stores. I know that a lot of people do it as a side hustle but it’s ruined it for the rest of us.
Yep I have to agree, the reselling aspect is ruining it for the rest of us just trying to find a decent deal on things. There’s a lot of it now because of the granny chic style and people not wanting or being able to afford these ridiculous retail prices at box stores.
Makes all the sense. It's called GOUGING. Goodwill CEO alone ain't complaining 😕
Stay away from the newer trend of places asking you to round up your purchase and then name some doofus charity. Yeah, the bosses pocket charity 🙄🙄
The really ornate black thing...I would have bought that. That's the only thing I hate about thrifting videos. Seeing things I would buy, lol. But I love everything else about it and thank you for telling pricing.
I don't normally care to watch thrifting videos but I always watch and enjoy each one of yours.
AwHhh, Mitchel...I could just give you hug! Thank you for saying that! I'm so glad you enjoy my thrifting videos, too! I know everyone likes the DIYs but a big part of what I do is hunt for these things to makeover, so I like to be able to take you along as we go treasure hunting! It's so nice to hear that you appreciate seeing that, as well! XOXO
Our thrift stores and Goodwill are way overpriced right now, too. Hopefully it doesn't stay that way. Thanks for sharing!!
Years ago, i got a very similar metal basket for around $3. I made a mattress, pillow and doll blanket for my granddaughter for her first American Doll baby. So cute.❤️
Ooooh… love the concrete bird and the wooden bowls from St Vincent de Paul.
Kelly….. I miss these stores!!! I moved to Ohio last spring from Michigan! I agree, these stores are awesome! I now live vicariously thru your thrift hauls.
Omg. I love everything. Sherri you scored. Wow. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I really love that you're sharing what the items will sell for. I am new at stocking a booth that I sell crafts and upcycled items and this really helps me out❣🤟
Oh good...I'm so glad to hear this helped you out, Lisa!!! Thanks for sharing that! XOXO
I’m a fellow Michigander and this was helpful. Apparently I need to stop by a couple of these stores because the ones I have been in have not been that great (in the metro Detroit area). I need to branch out ☺️ but not go too crazy, my house doesn’t need much these days but I love finding a treasure or something special.
Hi Kelly. Wow! You found so many awesome things. I really enjoy your videos and I look forward to them each week. ❤❤❤❤
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed the video, Bernice and it made my day to hear that you look forward to them every week!!!!! XOXO
I watch a lot of crafting videos, but I like yours the best. When you and Jenny work together it is always a hoot. I especially like your shopping videos. In fact I don't watch any other shopping episodes. I have tried and I find them so irritating. Yours are always light and fun and you actually buy stuff. I make up my mind quickly and it seems you do that too.
Goodwill and Salvation Army have become outrageous. They get all their stock for free and they ask retail price.
Your haul was really great best of luck flipping and selling...
Love your videos. You take the time to explain all that you do. Love ur mom.
Great tips on pricing. I'm jealous of other people's thrift store prices - here in the midwest they are waaaay too high. On that chandelier print, I would have taken a chance and sprayed it with some matte sealer. I tried that on another piece I had that I love but was way too shiny and cheap and it turned out awesome!
I was thinking the same exact thing.
I like to see you do more videos shopping
I’m watching this in June 1923, but the silhouettes were done by my grandson’s preschool class teachers. They drew a silhouette head to toe of each child, and at graduation had them lined up on the wall across the stage. It was the coolest thing ever and then they put their names at the bottom
Thanks for ur good explanations of saleable items & fair prices. U have helped me so much choosing better inventory for my mall booth. 😀
Hey CT love that you remember me - but you need to get over here cause I want you to push me around in a wheelchair and do sunflower crafts with me on our somewhat matching countertops AND eat Mexican food! Love you❤
AwHhhh.....LOL...you are AWESOME! I would LOVE that! I'd push you around in a wheelchair wherever you wanted to go, Delaine! HEE HEE Sounds fun!!!! The only thing I won't do is get in the chair myself and have you push me by the steps of your basement! LOL HEE HEE Love you, too!!!!
WOW. The thrift stores in Michigan have the mother lode. The stores in Ohio don’t come close. I went to 3 stores today and found a Christmas oven mitt. I’m going to Michigan in the spring. Save me some good stuff Kelly. 😊
Thank you so much for your pricing info love going shopping with you ❤
I really enjoy watching your videos. ❤
Yes,yes! I love this type of video. I like how you were sharing with us prices to sell for. Thank you. Thank you. Please more videos like this more often 🌻🌻🌻🦋🦋🦋🙏
I cracked up when you said I first showed you the silhouette pictures. I made one in grade school and I’m 65 years old so they’ve been around a long long time.
I just love your channel! Love all your great finds.
Bowl with knob I think was a nut bowl for walnuts etc, the knob is where the nut crack tool sits.
Hi Kelly it's Dorothy those white bowls you can make mushrooms out of them and you could tell them because people like mushrooms
⏩ *Easy fix for gloss finishes:* Wash and dry. Then spray a Rustoleum matte clear finish. Looks like new. Gloss is gone!
Big wooden bowl with knob in middle looks like a nut bowl we had when I was a child. And I'm 72 years old. But one we had had holes in knob that little nut cracker and couple tools to dig nuts out of shells fit in
The wooden bowl basket with the knob in the middle is a nut bowl. The knob probably has holes in it to hold metal pick & nut cracker. I agree with the high prices.
OHhh, interesting....I would have never thought that it would be a nut bowl and yes, some of the prices were crazy...weren't they?!??!? Anyway, thanks for watching, Dolores!!! XOXO Happy Thanksgiving to you!!! XOXO
I read an article and it said that they have one person at Goodwill on the dock and when stuff is gone through they price it immediately. So if you had a really good quality item or a namebrand item, they are going to market up immediately before it even goes to the floor or the cart to even go to the floor.
Fun & informative video. The bowl with the knob in the center is actually a nut bowl. The knob has holes in the top for the cracker and other tools. The nuts go around the knob.
I love these types of videos 🤩
Thank you for this video! I’m considering trying my hand at doing this in my area and this was once helpful!!
Our Salvation Army has gone crazy on prices. I just don't even bother to go there anymore
Wow, it must have been Pot Day. Pot as in planter pot. I loved all of them. I said to my husband, this is the gal that goes to Springfield flea market every sept., and i want to meet her, so I let's plan on it. HOPE, HOPE!
I don't even think i have any salvation stores near me. I am deprived!
YOU MAKE MY THURSDAY!
THANK YOU!
Loved watching your video today....I subscribed and I will sparkle/share to my facebook viewers....
That big wooden bowl with the knob in it is a nut bowl. There should have been a place to put an old metal nutcracker. You ....well, me.....I would sit with the bowl on my lap, or when my grandmother saw me, I'd put it back on the table...i'd sit and crack pecans , keeping the shells in rhe bowl and putting the nutmeats in a clean bowl, or eating them as fast as I shelled them while watching a VERY late old movie with my grandmother.😊
Kelly, this is such a good video. It’s interesting to hear how you decide on what to purchase then know approximately what you would price it at. I think the prices in your area are outrageous! I live in the suburbs right outside of Atlanta and my Goodwill has really good prices for the most part. Sometime I feel like they set a price on the price gun and tag everything that price - $3.09 seems to be popular!😁 But on the other hand, I think your prices are extremely reasonable. 😊 ~ Linda
The bowl with the knob is for nuts, you put nuts in the bowl and in the knob is where you put the nutcracker(s). My grandmother had one :)
Don’t be shy to take an item to the front and ask if they can do better on the price. They have so much inventory coming in they need to move it through fast. Also you can spray that shiny painting with a Matt clear and tone down the sheen. I’ve don’t great many times.
Great finds!
I look forward to each of your videos! Thanks much!
Hi Kelly, I live in Davison, I went to Collettes a couple days ago & checked out your booth, awesome crafts!! Lol I grew up in Shelby twp. I love watching you craft & shop. Your ideas are amazing! I just started crafting myself
Awhhhh, thank you so much for the compliment on my booth!!! That was so sweet! WOW...you grew up in Shelby Twp...what a small world!!! I'm so glad you are enjoying my crafting videos and my little Etsy shop!!! That's so AWESOME to hear!!! Thank you for the WONDERFUL compliment on the ideas....you made my day, Deborah!!! I love that you started crafting!!! It's addicting!!! Craft supplies EVERYWHERE! HEE HEE Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment!!! I really appreciate that! XOXO
That wooden bucket with the middle spindle was like one my Grandma had. She kept walnuts & pecans in it and the nutcracker and picks fit in the spindle.
Everyone knows that people are reselling. Making higher prices for everyone Makes it harder for people that just want to buy it for themselves.
If they keep raising the prices....then you're not going to shop there and I'm not going to shop there and they are kind of shooting themselves in the foot. They are a thrift store and should be priced accordingly, regardless of who is buying their stuff and what they are doing with it. You know? That's just how I feel.
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE agreed I guess everyone is taking advantage of price hikes sadly all the goodwill and thrift stores are 90 percent donations.
What has happened to your favorite store is they are "on to all the flip products and know you but all the cool things" and make money off of it so they are just going to "get a little more".... they're hoping you'll just buy it anyway
I loved shopping with you, Kelly! I think all of your finds are fabulous, can't wait to watch your redo's.
Kelly, I loved this video where you indicate how much you could make on the products. Tfs. Donna xoxo
Had fun watching and learning about thrifting ! I think your displays are done great 👍🏻!!
Goodwill Buy the Pound Outlet is a great place for resellers.
Thank you for the pricing information it is going to help me alot. Great buys!
Beautiful things!!!!!
Hi. I’m seeing you for the first time. Wanted to tell you that bowl with the knob in the middle - 60 years ago my grandma had one and it held nuts in their shells along with a nutshell hammer, pick and nut cracker. 👍
Kelly you're right the video with Delaine is funny, everybody should watch what a good time you 2 had!
Thanks, Donna! Yea...I really had so much fun that day! It was just soooo crazy and Delaine was just a hoot! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Donna! Thanks for watching!!! XOXO
In our area in WV we have three to four estate sales except during holidays every weekend. Saturday is half price sale or less. Prices are ridiculously low.
My brother and I are twins born in 1943. Our mom had silhouette pictures taken if us....How I wish we knew what happened to them
Hey Kelly. Great video. Your stores are so nice. The GW in my area stink! They are dark and the shelves are so close together. Yours are so nice and full. I admit the prices are getting up there. I'm shocked at some of the prices. The other day I was out shopping and I actually said out loud. Are you kidding me? Your video was very informative. Thanks for the tips. I read yesterday about the scammer. SHAME ON THEM. Take care.
The barrel bowl with knob is a nut bowl. The knob should have holes to hold a nut cracker. The other wooden bowl was beautiful, didn't need painted just oil it up. I'm a reseller & don't bother if I'm only doubling my money but then I sell online & it's a lot of work to clean, photograph then ship.
Amazing current stuff in your thrift stores. I don't see an abundance of that kind of stuff at all. I'm in Canada & our Salvation Army in my town went out of business. So sad.
I love ivy I would’ve bought that with the ivy I noticed you always comment on the Ivy but I absolutely love it
Kelly, the bowl with the "knob" in the center is a bowl for nuts. The knob would have held the nutcracker and picks.
The square planter with the honeycomb texture painted white then an IOD Bee from clay on it would be pretty with a brown around the outline of the bed??!!
I knew this would be good. 💗
OH...I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, Charlotte!!! XOXO
Love this
Hello, from Canada. I enjoy your videos and I do like everything that you buy for your shop. I wish my thrift stores had the great things that you find. There is slso sticker shock in the stores that I go to.
Totally respect your thrift shopping. It would be interesting to know the cost of supplies and time spent on making a profit.
Hi Karen, a lot of the things I buy...I can just put a price tag and flip...so, no real cost that went into it! Now, some things need paint and in that case...I can use a $4.95 can of spray paint and spray seven things with that can. I do use chalk paint and that is more expensive but I find that chalk paint goes a L-O-o-O-oNg way! My Annie Sloan paint last me like two years, so if you figure that into all the furniture, home decor...it's really not that much cost to put on a project to make it look fabulous. It's more your time than anything...if you're repairing something...then have to paint it....that can be a profit sucker if you are calculating every minute you worked on something, so for me...I do these projects for fun or to educate! If something is going to require too much time to work on and I'm going to only make $7-...I might just decide it's too much work and pass on it at the thrift store. Now, if it's something I want to do as a fun project or to do for a video...than...it doesn't matter. You have to choose your projects carefully or else you could be giving up time that you could have spent flipping three other projects instead of just that one that you've been working on. Hope that helps answer your question!
The bowl with the knob is a nut cracker bowl.
I remember in fourth grade and they made us do silhouettes pictures of ourselves cause that’s what the president used to do. Inflation that’s why the store raised their prices.
Nice finds!!!!
It seems the thrift store workers are watching the thrifting videos and looking up what stuff sells for online when pricing now.
LOVED this VIDEO...
I'm so glad to hear that Elaine!!! XOXO
Loved watching today's video. Loved your choices. I agree that Salvation Army's prices were outrageously high on some of those items. I have one very
close to my house and haven't gotten there yet. Maybe I better brace myself. I do have a St. Vincent's de Paul very close to me and I love them. They always have daily sales and I have purchased some great vintage finds at awesome prices. TFS
Thank you for sharing these and how much can be made on each item. Brilliant finds 😊
I love this video and everything you do, please make more videos like this, thank you
#Replay I Love going shopping with you Kelly Sherry!
The bowl with the know is a nut bowl😊
They've figured you out. Now they're cutting out the middle man. Lol
I don't understand why people would pay the prices you've quoted for merchandise. Maybe I'm cheap, but really, if I could flip stuff like this for such prices, I'd still be doing this.
Kelly…I love watching your videos and thank you so much for doing one on prices!! I’m working on doing a Christmas show in my hometown and really needed this video! Also, never be afraid to “shave” a throw blanket to remove pilling! Amazon sells this weird pet hair remover rock called Fur-Zoff that when used with light pressure gets all the fur and pulling off fabric! It’s amazing!! Thank you again and hello from Ohio!! ❤
Thank you for sharing your tips
They jack up prices to get their target price on 1/2 price day , if they can sell at at whole price , that's a bonus for them! GREED IS KILLING THE THRIFT STORES!!!😮😮😮😮
I was surprised by your first item in the cart the sign for 5.99. And you would price it at only $12-14? We do the rule of 3 at a bare minimum. $18 The math: 1/3 of the sale price is the item cost ($6) the next $6 is reserved for your booth rent commission owed, taxes credit card fees and your time in acquiring, cleaning and pricing the item and the last 1/3 is what YOU actually make, which is $6. My mom and I have had booths consistently for the last 11 years and thankfully a seasoned antique vendor told us about the rule of 3 before we started our first booth. He also said to be careful and not overpay for one item because you like it and perhaps you got another item for .25 cent. Because not all items, for whatever reason, is going to sale. You have such beautiful stuff and do a beautiful job I'd just watch those price margins so you don't cheat yourself. We now do a MINIMUM of x4 up charge per item. We share the rule of 3 with all the new vendors who ask us for advice. Love your videos and your enthusiasm .
Oh you broke my heart when you passed up the owl...
People do need to keep in mind their location for pricing, in my small town in a farming, Amish and Mennonite area, a lot of your repricing suggests would not sell here; I would love to be able to sell the milk glass vases for $10, I am lucky to get $4. I have had to stop shopping at big box "thrift stores" because of the prices, St Vincent's is the exception.
But as usual a great video!! Suzette
Loved this video what a great idea to show us how much you can make flipping what you bought.
This was so helpful. Thanks so much for sharing it!
What an informative video! Thanks for sharing your tips of the trade.
Omg I’m sorry them prices at SA are CRAZY they are out of their minds. I just won’t shop there anymore 😏
Kelly, if someone asks you if you need clocks, say YES!
Love ur channel.
Great haul,Kelly. Missed watching your videos. I learn so much from you. Thanks for taking us along.
Kelly, the bowl w/ knob is a nut cracking bowl
thanks for sharing ideas and tips on things worth buying and reselling.
Hi Brigid! I'm glad you enjoyed the tips in this video! I have so many people who ask me, so I thought it was time to share some of my pricing for resell and to let you know what is worth buying and what is not!!! Thanks for watching!!! XOXO
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE watched it again as reference!
I need to come to Michigan to thrift shop!!!!
Some of them I will keep for myself
