There’s been a lot of research into fish skin the last five-eight years. It has anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties and has been used to treat burn victims.
They’re even trying to figure out how to implement it into skin graft techniques. Some wild stuff. Didn’t even know it was a thing until this show caused me to google the idea.
Yea Tilapia skin is the type used. Works amazing for burns and even serious burns it looks like nothing ever happened. You just end up with discoloration and not so much the scars.
Why have we not implemented this into modern medicine yet?

Humans can go up to 60 days without food, all depending on your exertion. If you just sit on a rock, you burn VERY few calories. Once starvation mode kicks in, that reduces further. It's unlikely, but you can absolutely survive 20 days on no food as long as you have water.
Wouldn't recommend it, but it's doable. Just don't work out
Possibly, but the sunburns and dehydration due to sitting on a rock with no cover from the sun would definitely reduce the time possible to survive.
Also depends on how much fat you have to start with. An overweight person would survive a lot longer off their own fat than a skinny person.

The flashback was done so well, Zeff look mad accurate. This show does its own thing while keeping the story linear. Can’t wait for more seasons

The kid actor who played Sanji along with Zeff bodied that role, love how well they adapted the flashback, and ngl to you but Arlong looks more menacing in the LA than the anime imo.
I think the live action gives Arlong a grimy look that is like "oh yeah this is a bad person." where the anime he's bright blue with a Hawaiian shirt he looks like he is ready to party

It's actually cool that they used fish skin since fish skin can be used for skin grafts. Fish skin has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial and has properties to improve healing.
A lot of reactors assumed it bs and would cause infection when it's the opposite lol
the fact that Taz (sanji's actor) was actually the one who introduced Craig Fairbraiss (zeff's actor) to the showrunners. gotta give that credits and thanked him for bringing the best zeff live action ever

Fun fact, I actually looked up the fish skin trick after this episode. Apparently, it's a real thing that doctors use. They actually use it a lot for burn patients and in skin grafting.

I feel like since Roshi is familiar with the story, he crackin' more jokes that kinda take away from some of the more emotional moments from Sheera and I guess Lupa since he doesn't remember anything apparently XD. But I'm glad they're enjoying it overall. Buggy is dope.
Yeah, that was especially apparent on the 5th episode. Kinda takes away from the experience to be frank.

That's why the LA reaction videos by people who are already fans mostly aren't getting lots of views. They're not as immersed in it as the new fans, so most of us don't enjoy watching them.

I recently realized that Zeff and Sanji's backstory is an allusion to Treasure Island. Long John Silver is the ship's cook and tells a story of how he cut off his leg and served it to his crew to keep them from starving after being shipwrecked.

Sanji being so grateful to Zeff and being so indebted due to him cutting his leg off to save Sanji hits harder when you know his full backstory 😢
Funnily, Oda didn't even come up with the extended backstory till the WCI arc came. This was all there was to Sanji originally, but Oda added more and it was great.

Here are some Easter Eggs in this Episode like:
- Young Sanji is played by Christian Conroy who also was Gus in “Sweet Tooth” which is a bit a an interesting coincidence in the anime young Sanji is voiced by Ikue Otani (Chopper’s va)
- Luffy & Usopp is based on the one he wears on the color spread of Ch.107 while Zeff’s is based on the one he wore in the past
- Notice next to Luffy with the Wado is some Rice Balls / onigiri which is a reference to Zoro liking them & his attack Oni Giri
- The bottle that Zeff drank from comes from Whiskey Peak & is the same from Makino’s Partys Bar
- Zeff mentions that the nearest doctor is on Conomi Island which is a reference to Doctor Nako
- Sanji & Zeff were stranded for 85 days after when both Zeff’s pirate ship the Cooking George & the cruise ship that Sanji worked on called the Orbit, & while on the rock Sanji has some can food that says “Pigeon Arroser” which comes from the Shokugeki no Sanji Ch.3 & another that says pumpkins as a reference to Skypiea
- Nami is reading “Noland the Lair” to the unconscious Zoro which if you look at a page in the book you can spot Pandaman & she was wearing the outfit that she wore in the Volume 11 cover that is until she used that to reveal her Arlong Pirates Tattoo
- The man at the table that talks to Arlong is Motzel who is a well known customer / gourmand who you can see in the background of the manga & anime
- Zeff’s peg leg is broken by Kroobi but in the manga it was actually Gin
- As they are about to leave the Baratie you can see next to Zoro sitting down a box that says Galley-La company
Makino is fat and ugly in this. So sad.
Another reference or coincidence is when Luffy says “We need a doctor” it cuts to Sanji CHOPPing veggies, he even says so himself. Could be a nod to Chopper!!
As generic and stereotypical as it is to have the fishmen come in to trap music, I like that they made it a trap hip hop version of the Jaws theme.

I like how this they changed Luffy a bit in this. Regular Luffy would say “He’ll be fine, he’s strong” and not worry in the slightest but this one is actually really worried and is lowkey freaking out that Zoro might die
In the anime, Zoro was able to walk and move around right away after the battle, but they couldn't do that for the live action since it would be so unrealistic. So it makes sense that Luffy’s reaction would change too.
The actors for Zeff and Sanji have acted together before! Another reason why they have such great chemistry. This is not their first time working together and it shows! they absolutely nailed their roles.

A fun episode but my favorite line from it has got to be "You shidiots don't know what you're doing."
They still use fish skin for severe burns. It's not canon but it's an amazing addition that he could've believably have known about.
What's crazy is that putting fish skin on a wound does actually work it's a real thing.
To be fair Zoro's moment was pretty much one to one with the anime.
Yeah, they did that couple times in this series and they were all the low points of the live action. It’s why every LA up to now has fallen face first - it’s not manga, so you have to adapt instead of mimicking the panels.

@@benapeh854 I feel like it's because Mackenyu gave life to Zoro's character in a different way (not really in a realistic way cuz I think Zoro's character is lowkey deep already) and that made some fans, like Roshi, felt awkward.
Acting wise, Mackenyu did a good job.
It's one of those manga/anime stuff that should be kept away from a live action. No actor can pull that off, because it is inherently untranslatable. In the manga during the scene, zoro's mouth is comically large so his exaggerated expression helps conveying the emotion but obviously you can't do this with real actors.
@@alfanscholz8663 nonsense. You don't need a comically large mouth or anything like that to pull it off. The real problem is that they have to real life frame of reference to relate to the scene. They can't imagine devoting their life to somebody else like that, especially while being on the brink of death. So they feel like somebody uncomfortably watching strangers have an emotional interaction with no context. So it feels "cringe" to them. And probably also to you. It's a product of the modern entitlement era we find ourselves in.
It also doesn't help that they crack stupid jokes every 10 seconds, taking them out of the story and preventing them from feeling the full weight of the scene.

A person can survive 30 to 50 days without food until they become critically weak but will die in 43 to 70 days assuming they don't have water. Since they brought food with them onto the rock the length of time they survived is possible.
